  • ffmpeg options: -acodec libfaac -ab 192k produce 150kbit files?

    - by piedro
Hello! When I use ffmpeg to convert an audiofile with the option -acodec libfaac -ab 192k and use ffmpeg -i on that file afterwards to get the audio file information, it tells me bitrate: 152 kb/s Why ist this? Do I miss something here? If I want to convert a file with a bitrate of 192kb it should give me 192 kbit after the conversion, shouldn't it? Or: How do I get the 192 kbit rate then?

  • Do I need to paste open source license information at the top of my webpage?

    - by Rich
I'm developing a JavaScript application that uses several open source JavaScript projects. All their licenses have a phrase like "You must give any other recipients of the Work or Derivative Works a copy of this License". Does this mean I need to make a massive HTML comment at the top of my webpage with all the licences of the software that I use? I ask this question because I've never seen the source code of a webpage that does this.

  • Why avoid Java Inheritance "Extends"

    - by newbie
Good day! Jame Gosling said “You should avoid implementation inheritance whenever possible.” and instead, use interface inheritance. But why? How can we avoid inheriting the structure of an object using the keyword "extends", and at the same time make our code Object Oriented? Could someone please give an Object Oriented example illustrating this concept in a scenario like "ordering a book in a bookstore?" Thank you in advance.

  • When working with contractors/interns how protective should one be of your codebase?

    - by Shizam
We're considering hiring a contractor or intern to work with us on our iOS project but this causes me to get really paranoid that we're giving somebody who doesn't work for the company access to our precious codebase. I mean, I could just give them access to the classes I'd like them to work on but that seems rude and it would make it more difficult for them to develop what we need them to. How paranoid should one be about people running off with their entire application?

  • Avoid pagination pages from appearing higher than real content in SERPS

    - by WordPress Developer
I have a gallery-type website that has about 20k of pages and naturally it uses pagination. However, sometimes /page/2 appears higher in search results than /post/201339 for example. I'd like to give emphasis to the actual content (posts, videos, whatever the site is about) and not on pages that merely list this content in a paginated matter. What is the best way to avoid this issue? Maybe a NOINDEX,FOLLOW meta tag on the paginated pages?
