  I want to select data from one table (T1, in DB1) in one server (Data.Old.S1) into data in another table (T2, in DB2) in another server (Data.Latest.S2). How can I do this ? Please note the way the servers are named. The query should take care of that too. That is, SQL server should not be confused about fully qualified table names. For example - this could confuse SQL server - Data.Old.S1.DB1.dbo.T1.

  I've inherited a few sys admin tasks recently and am trying to wrap my head around using screen. The way the previous guy left it, there are four screen sessions running, some of which have two or three windows running within. It doesn't appear that he was using any particular convention, so I ask you: Is it better to have each process in its own screen session, or better to group similar processes into a single screen? Or something different entirely?

  I have a regular expression to find the text I want (I wrapped the relevant section in custom tags), and I can do it by hand without much issue, but what I want is a way to automatically find and replace throughout the entire project. A macro seems like an OK idea, but it would be nice to have a command (to edit and tweak). sed seems like a good bet, but I am pretty unfamiliar with it. I am not so much asking for a complete solution as I am asking for an example that does something close to what I want. I don't really know of a good way to start.

• 2 Nics - Same Subnet..Route backup traffic through one of them

  I have a windows server and a centos linux server. I want the nightly backup file (targz) that copies to the windows machine to use a different nic so that the main nic is not burdenend with moving the large file. Each server has 2 Nics in it. the network is 10.173.10.0 mask 255.255.255.192 Centos Linux Box: Eth0 is configured with 10.173.10.80 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Eth 1 is configured with 10.173.10.71 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Windows Box Eth 0 is 10.173.10.72 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Eth 1 is 10.173.10.70 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 I can ping each machine from each machine. On the linux machine I use the command route add -host 10.173.10.70 dev eth1 but then when i ping 10.173.10.70 it is unreachable..... WHY?

  I'm not even sure if this is possible with Outlook's current rule set but I thought I'd ask. I'd like emails that meet certain characteristics to automatically be moved from my inbox after they are a day old. I get a lot of notification emails that I end up having to remove the next day manually since I get new ones to replace them each day. So a rule would be like: If the email is from [email protected] and older then 1 day move to already read folder.

  I got a Linux VM Image from a dev in our company to develop on it. This works nice, but now i need to do some Internet Explorer testing, for that i have an other VM with windows on it. I have an entry in my hosts file under macos that redirect some virtual domain to the IP of the linux VM. I tried to modify the hosts file in windows also. But i cant reach Linux VM. How can i access the Server on the linux VM with Windows VM? Are there some settings i missed?

  Hey all, I am trying to put together a query that will display one specific record (found by the record's primary ID) at the top, and display all other records below it, sorted by date (I have "date_added" as one of the fields in the table, in addition to primary ID). I could do this with a UNION (first select would locate the record I want, and the other select would display all other records), but I'm wondering if is there perhaps a better way? I'm using Oracle, by the way.

  So we have 2 servers all running at the same web host. We have bind MySQL to listen on the public ip-address of the database server and the web server connects to it from the public ip. Both servers run on the same private network. Currently, the DB connect method from our php script takes about 3ms to connect to the MySQL database server host. My question is, would MySql data interaction from the web server be faster if we bind it to listen on the private lan address on the database server instead of the public IP? or is it the same regardless and it wont make a different.

  I need to configure my machine as to allow HTTP traffic to/from serverfault.com only. All other websites, services ports are not accessible. I came up with these iptables rules: #drop everything iptables -P INPUT DROP iptables -P OUTPUT DROP #Now, allow connection to website serverfault.com on port 80 iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d serverfault.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -m conntrack --ctstate ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT #allow loopback iptables -I INPUT 1 -i lo -j ACCEPT It doesn't work quite well: After I drop everything, and move on to rule 3: iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d serverfault.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT I get this error: iptables v1.4.4: host/network `serverfault.com' not found Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information. Do you think it is related to DNS? Should I allow it as well? Or should I just put IP addresses in the rules? Do you think what I'm trying to do could be achieved with simpler rules? How?   Our current network looks like this: Location 1: 2 Layer 2 switches | subnet 192.168.1.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN Location 2: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.3.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN Location 3: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.5.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN We just got a direct fiber connection between location 1 and 2, we also got a new HP V1910 24G layer 3 switch. I tried to follow the instructions on this site, but I can't get it to work. I think our network should look like this: Location 1: HP Switch FIBER to L2 | subnet 192.168.1.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN Location 2: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.3.0/24 | FIBER to L1 Location 3: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.5.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN So, how can I get routing working on our location 2? It's old gateway was a firewall device on ip 192.168.3.1. I'm thinking on creating a VLAN Interface on 192.168.3.1 on the switch for the Location 2. But how will I handle that on the HP switch that has a direct fiber connection with that switch? Please help, I'm not very good with networking.

I tried: Hierarchy hierarchy = LogManager.GetRepository() as Hierarchy; hierarchy.GetAppenders() as per documentation this returns all appenders for all loggers currently configured. When I try this: LogManager.GetLogger("MyLoggerName").Logger.Repository.GetAppenders(); I get the same result. I would like to retrieve only appenders attached to one logger ("MyLoggerName" in this case) Were am i wrong? Thank you.

• One subdomain is not working

  Hello there, My main domain works just fine - www.example.com and a subdomain set up by another developer works as well - sub1.example.com. But when I try to set another subdomain up I go through the process everything seems to work. The software creates the default files where the subdomain files should go. But when I try to browse there it doesn't work. My host uses Plesk to do all of the hosting stuff. What do you think the problem is? I doubt it is some sort of cache issue because I had problems on my phone which I tried after problems on the pc. Maybe for some reason Plesk needs time to set this up? I have used Cpanel before and that works instantly.

  We have 3 PCs, two of it are connected to internet (both of it have 2 NIC) PC1: eth0 - 1.0.0.1 (external IP) eth1 - 172.16.0.1 (internal IP) PC2: eth0 - 1.0.0.2 (external IP) eth1 - 172.16.0.2 (internal IP) PC3: eth0 - 172.16.0.3 (internal IP) Now we want to map port 80 from PC1 and PC2 to PC3. But there is the problem: iptables port forwarding works well from PC1 or PC2, but only in case if PC3 have PC1 or PC2 as gateway. So, question is: can we have port mapping from both PC1 and PC2 regardless of gateway settings on PC3? Thank you in advance.
