My Brother printer is not shown in CUPS so I go to Admin-Add Printer it gives me the User Name/Password popup with refuses to recognize my user name on the machine.   • Basic memcached question

    I have been reading up on distributed hashing. I learnt that consistent hashing is used for distributing the keys among cache machines. I also learnt that, a key is duplicated on mutiple caches to handle failure of cache hosts. But what I have come across on memcached doesn't seem to be in alignment with all this. I read that all cache nodes are independent of each other and that if a cache goes down, requests go to DB. Theres no mention of cache miss on a host resulting in the host directing the request to another host which could either be holding the key or is nearer to the key. Can you please tell me how these two fit together? Is memcached a very preliminary form of distributed hashing which doesnt have much sophistication?

When a user visits the my fileserver via a web browser they are asked to authenticate using HTTP auth and then they are presented with a basic list of the files. I'd like to build web application that provides a clean interface with simply library functionality. However, this app will be hosted on a different server. I'm trying to figure out a security model for my file server that doesn't require the user to login to both the file-server and the hosting-server. I want to make this as easy as possible for my non-tech savy family while still maintaining security for my files.

  • Sending login form to an open-mesh acess point for authentication with my own RADIUS server

    I have my RADIUS server up and running and a custom external captive portal. But I'm not sure: what information should I send to the Open-Mesh AP with my login form (it is necessary to encrypt the password?, because if I don't use a secret word to encrypt in my network configuration the RADIUS server complaints about it and in the log shows me some strange characters in the password) I don't know what to do with the "challenge" and "md" parameters in my login splash page.     I'm building my very first game with XNA and i'm trying to get my sprite to run. Everything is working fine for the first sprite. E.g : if I go right(D) my sprite is looking right , if I go left(A) my sprite is looking left and if I don't touch anything my sprite is the default one. Now what I want to do is if the sprite goes Right, i want to alternatively change sprites (left leg, right leg, left leg etc..) xCurrent is the current sprite drawn xRunRight is the first running Sprite and xRunRight1 is the one that have to exchange with xRunRight while running right.     I've been trying to get to grasps with Ruby (for all of an hour) and this is my first language. I've got the following code: var_comparison = 5 print "Please enter a number: " my_num = Integer(gets.chomp) if my_num > var_comparison print "You picked a number greater than 5!" elsif my_num < var_comparison print "You picked a number less than 5!" elsif my_num > 99 print "Your number is too large, man." else print "You picked the number 5!" end Clearly the interpreter has no way of distinguishing between accepting the rule 5 or 99. How do I make it so that any number between 6-99 returns "You picked a number greater than 5!", but a number 100 or greater returns "Your number is too large, man!"? Do I need to specifically state a range somehow? How would I best do that? Would it by the normal range methods e.g. if my_num 6..99 or if my_num.between(6..99) ?

    Given a administrative area with urls like this: wp-admin/ wp-admin/whatever wp-admin/another-page wp-adminsecretlogin/ A standard basic-auth coverage would provide a username and password prompt on all three urls, and return a 403 on all failed auth attempts. This is a pretty obvious signal that something exists there, and thus is an invitation to script/brute force access. I would like to instead, require basic auth everywhere, but when not authenticated, not prompt for username and password, and instead return a 404 not found error for all urls except a wp-adminsecretlogin/ url. At that individual-to-the-site url, basic auth could go through, and unlock the rest of the administrative functionality (though the standard application login would still be necessary). How would I do that via apache .htaccess or .conf directives?

If I just use "Double.Parse" and I don't put anything in the textbox, the program will crash sometimes right?
