• Slow first page load on asp.net site

  Hi, Every now and then (always after a long period of idle-time, e.g. overnight) when I access a site built using asp.net - it takes around 15 seconds to load the page (15 seconds before I see any progress whatsoever, then the page comes up fast). Further pages on that site, or refreshes, are quick as usual - they are also fast on other machines, only the first one seems to take the 'hit'. Page tracing never through anything up (whole cycle was a fraction of a second) So my question is where else should I be looking? Perhaps IIS? Or could it still be my asp.net app and I'm just looking in the wrong place (the trace) for clues? As I don't have much control over the IIS server, anything I can check through asp.net would be more helpful, before I go ask that particular admin. cheers :D

  I am trying to load all the .png files from an internal application folder into a list control and I am stuck on exactly how to do it. I have tried httpservice to get the folder and count how many images there are so I can loop through them but I just cant figure that out. File structure -src -(default package) -my application files -icons -all my .png files httpService i tried: <s:HTTPService id="loadAllImages" destination="/icons" result="gotImages(event)" fault="loadAllImagesFault(event)"/> This always results in directory not found. Am I going about this completely wrong? Anyone have a suggestion?

  When using the MnSymbol package, pdflatex gives two font warnings: LaTeX Font Warning: Encoding 'OMS' has changed to 'U' for symbol font (Font) 'symbols' in the math version 'normal' on input line 120. LaTeX Font Info: Overwriting symbol font 'symbols' in version 'normal' (Font) OMS/cmsy/m/n --> U/MnSymbolF/m/n on input line 120. It turns out that this is probably due to a clash with the AMSSymb package. Since I need just a few symbols from the package: is there a way to load one symbol from a package, in stead of all?

• Selenium Webdrivers: Load Page without any resources

  I am trying to prevent Javascript from changing the site's source code I'm testing with Selenium. The problem is, I can't just simply turn Javascript off in the Webdriver, because I need it for a test. Here's what I'm doing for the Firefox Webdriver: firefoxProfile.setPreference("permissions.default.image", 2); firefoxProfile.setPreference("permissions.default.script", 2); firefoxProfile.setPreference("permissions.default.stylesheet", 2); firefoxProfile.setPreference("permissions.default.subdocument", 2); I don't allow Firefox to load any Images, Scripts and Stylesheets. How can I do this with the Internet Explorer Webdriver and the Chrome Webdriver? I have not found any similar preferences. Or is there even a more elegant way to stop the webdrivers from loading the site's JS Files after all? Thank you!

• prevent form from automatically re-submitting on page load

  I am using jQuery to point a form's target to an iframe on .submit(). This is to upload a file. It works fine, but when the page reloads, and the iframe is appended to the DOM, the iframe automatically resubmits the form, causing the same file to be sent to the server on each page load. If I do not include the iframe in the HTML markup, or do not append it to the DOM, this doesn't happen, but of course, I need the iFrame. So my question is, how can i prevent this? :) Andrew

  Yes, it's the infamous viewstate again! Now I am aware that problems can ocurr if you load controls in the wrong order or if the viewstate IDs are incorrect after postbacks etc etc. But my issue is that I am not really creating any controls dynamically - I only have one user control on the page. More importantly, the issue seems to be occuring with just one user. What could be the problem? Corrupt browser cache? Any help appreciated. thanks, KS

I want to avoid using cache because for this to work it must first load all the content. I was searching online for possible solution.   Is it possible to save and load data on Today Extension using NSUserDefaults? After closing the Notification Center, the widget behaves like an app which is terminated, so any data results lost. • Map works, but throws a popup error at load complainig about wrong api key

  Ok, I see a lot of people have this problem, but none answer I found either here or at stackoverflow. Problem: Map works super fine! But throws an error at load "This map needs a different api key... sign up at......" Already signed up, already got a key. On some forum post a guy told that in this case map loads twice, once with the wrong key, another with the right one. But Im sure my app loads it once and with the correct key.   I'm having a go at moving one of our simpler apps to Silverlight (a bit of a learning exercise). I've quickly come unstuck as I can't figure out how to load (or bind maybe?) a csv file to a datagrid (i.e. so you can point the app at a local csv file and display it to the user). I do have boilerplate code to parse a csv file and return a datatable but I'm shocked to discover that Silverlight doesn't even support DataTable (wtf!). Any ideas at all how to do this? How do people bind data to a datagrid anyhow? I'm using Silverlight 3.0 included in VS2010.

• ASP.Net website makes browser load unwanted (non-referenced) plugins

  I've found that some of my ASP.Net web apps prompt the browser to load plugins that I'm not explicitely using and certainly haven't deliberately referenced in the project settings. Two that come to mind are for MS MediaPlayer and the "SVG Viewer for Netscape". The only commonality I've determined so far is that the two sites/apps affected both use Master pages (nested in some cases). We don't use SVG file types (just the normal mix of jpg/gif/png) and no video/audio (not yet anyway). Can anyone provide a hint as to where the references for these might be creeping in? e.g. Is it a server-level include? Or a .Net runtime default when using master pages? Does anyone else even experience this, or is it just me? No urgency, I'd just like to remove it if possible. Thanks. Al

  Hello There, For a new project I need to load big XML files (200MB+) to a mySQL database. There are +- 20 feeds i need to match with that (not all fields are the same). Now when i want to catch the XML I get this error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 171296569 bytes) in E:\UsbWebserver\Root\****\application\libraries\MY_xml.php on line 21 Is there an easy solution for this? It's not possible to get te feed in parts of a few MB's each. Thank you very much! P.s. has somebody an idea to match xml-feeds easy?

  I'm using jQuery to load the result of a PHP script into a variable. The script is passed something that the user typed with a GET request. I want to take just what the script spit out into its <body> tag. How can I get a useful value that is just the contents of the body of a loaded page? I know the PHP works, I just need the JS.   I'm need to include ads into my app and I have a settings option to disable ads. so I need to load the ad in code. I copied the code from google to handle that and when I set ads:loadAdOnCreate to true, it works just fine. But if I set it to false and add the two lines AdView adView = (AdView)this.findViewById(R.id.ad); adView.loadAd(new AdRequest()); The ads stop displaying. If I look at log cat, it shows that it is receiving an ad and trying to display it. However it won't actually display on screen. Help?

• JQuery QuickSearch: Searching on load if the input isn't blank

  I have used the jquery quicksearch plugin and it works fine, except for one problem. I would like the quicksearch to run when the page is loaded. I have created a second quicksearch function (which is called when the page is loaded) and changed the bind to something else, but it won't work on "load" or "ready". If I change the bind to "focus" and put the focus onto the textfield it works, but only in IE. The reason I want to do this is because there is a "view" link where the user leaves the page. When they come back, I would like the search results to be as they left them.
