• Domain mapping issues

  I have two domain names - .com & .co.uk bought with 123-reg and just one student Windows hosting pack associated with the .co.uk domain. The .com domain is the main one which people would be trying to access, so I just mapped the domain to the hosting this morning. The problem is that I would really like it to be functional by tomorrow morning and the usual waiting time is 24-48 hours. Is there point in stopping the process and trying with forward it with CNAME record instead, does it take less time? (I can just go back and do proper domain mapping during the weekend) Also, is there a possible way to check whether the domain mapping has been done correctly before these 24-48 hours? From some computers I get 404 Error on homepage.

• Ubuntu 12.04 External HD Issues

  I am experiencing one more problem with my Ubuntu 12.04... I have an External HD (500GB) which is NTFS formatted. I connected this HD on my Ubuntu 12.04 and copied some files. When I connected the HD on a Windows 7 machine I could find the folders (the were visible) but I wasn't able to copy/cut/delete them. However when I opened the folders I could handle the material (mp3s) in them. Does anybody know how can I fix this? How can I fully access and modify folders copied from Ubuntu via a Windows machine? • Issues running alongside windows and connecting to wireless network

  Okay so I'm trying to get started with ubuntu but I'm encountering a couple problems: When I boot up the CD and try to install, it does not recognize that I have windows 7 installed and just sees it as unallocated space so the only way I've been able to install it is by wiping the drive which was fine, but it'd be nice to be able to boot either. And secondly, I cannot figure out how to get wireless working. When I try to connect on the initial installation process it tells me to connect to my adapter and just asks for a password. I suspect it could be a driver issue but I wouldn't know where to find it. I have an AR9485 atheros adapter and am attempting to run ubuntu 14.04. Thanks

• .htaccess mobile redirect issues

  I'm trying to set up a mobile redirect for a site with 2 subfolders, and I cannot get both to work at the same time. This is the structure of the site www.mysite.com/EN/ www.mysite.com/ES/ This is a bilingual site so each subfolder contains the files corresponding to each language version. Then I was using a 301 redirect, and setting up the index in /EN/ as the main index. Everything was getting redirected to it. I was using DirectoryIndex index.html Redirect /index.html http://www.mysite.com/EN/index.html and several Rewritecond to redirect mysite.com and old urls to the new URL. It worked fine before I decided to add a mobile version - m.mysite.com. I used the solution provided in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3680463/mobile-redirect-using-htaccess, and it redirects my mobile version properly, but now the desktop is both working. Besides, my mobile version must be bilingual as well.

• Issues with external mounting after pysdm removed

  So, I'm very new to ubuntu. I was having troubles getting my external hard drive to be read/write permission. It's owner is my macbook, and writing on the drive was repeatedly denied. In trying to sort this out, I tried the Nautilus commands (no success), installed the PYSDM application, changed some things (as suggested by this user in this forum http://askubuntu.com/a/113992 )but then found that I was getting an error message whenever I tried to mount an external storage device. The error is: Unable to mount DERPSTICK error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with: [mntent]: line 14 in etc/fstab is bad mount: only root can mount /dev/sdc1/ on /media/sdc1 Others with similar problems put their fstab up here, but I'm not sure how to bring it up, or if I should even try. • Writing a spell checker similar to "did you mean"

  I'm hoping to write a spellchecker for search queries in a web application - not unlike Google's "Did you mean?" The algorithm will be loosely based on this: http://catalog.ldc.upenn.edu/LDC2006T13 In short, it generates correction candidates and scores them on how often they appear (along with adjacent words in the search query) in an enormous dataset of known n-grams - Google Web 1T - which contains well over 1 billion 5-grams. I'm not using the Web 1T dataset, but building my n-gram sets from my own documents - about 200k docs, and I'm estimating tens or hundreds of millions of n-grams will be generated. This kind of process is pushing the limits of my understanding of basic computing performance - can I simply load my n-grams into memory in a hashtable or dictionary when the app starts? Is the only limiting factor the amount of memory on the machine? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Perhaps putting all my n-grams in a graph database with some sort of tree query optimisation? Could that ever be fast enough?

• Issues implementing arcball viewer

  My scene has a simple cube, and a camera built with the lookAt function (I'm using OpenGL). The scene renders fine, and I'm sure I have my model/view/projection matrices set up correctly. Now I'm trying to implement arcball rotation for my camera, but I'm having some trouble. I've got it down to calculating the angle/axis rotation for a virtual sphere in normalized screen coordinates. That means when I move my mouse left to right, I get an angle around the Y axis... and moving my mouse up/down will get me an angle about X. I'm not sure where to go from here -- what do I need to do with my axis so I can apply the angle to simulate camera rotation about its viewpoint? If I try directly applying the axis/angle rotation the camera/view transform I get what you'd expect. The view is rotated about the world axes which the mouse moving over the virtual sphere on the screen corresponds to. So if I move the mouse up/down the view rotates about the world's X axis (what I get reminds me of a first-person view)... but this isn't what I want. I think I need the axis I get to be transformed so it passes through the camera viewpoint and is oriented correct in reference to the camera... but I don't know if that's right or how to do that.

• Samsung RV520 with 12.04 freezes while having WiFi and brightness control issues

  I have a new Samsung RV520 and have just installed Precise Pangolin 12.04 LTS. I am having serious problems now with the wifi constantly disconnecting. This then causes the brightness control to appear on the screen. The screen starts flickering and then freezes the whole machine. Indeed the brightness control doesn't work at all. I am using a Intel Centrino N wireless card. Please can anyone provide any guidance as to how to resolve these issue on this machine. Many thanks for your help.

  I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 x64. It's running on my Dell Vostro V13. Everything works great until I shut the lid of my laptop (puts laptop into sleep). Once I come back and resume working in Ubuntu, typing becomes a chore. Ubuntu misses a lot of the keypresses from my keyboard. It usually results in me mashing my keyboard until the letter appears. A full system reboot fixes the problem. Again, typing is never an issue unless I resume from sleep. Any ideas?

• Bluetooth issues after Saucy upgrade

  I upgraded from Raring to Saucy, and now my bluetooth is giving me problems. First, even though I have a bluetooth inbuilt in my laptop, which I prefer to keep off unless I am using it, there is no greyed out bluetooth icon in the notification area. This was present in Quantal, but was missing in Raring too. I was hoping to get this fixed in Saucy. Seems otherwise. Secondly, and more importantly, in saucy when I am turning on my bluetooth, it immediately (or within seconds) turns off automatically, without giving me any time to even make the device visible. Please help!

  In a book I have, there is a following classification of defect: Critical : A defect receives a “critical” severity level if one or more critical system functionalities are impaired by a defect with is impaired and there is no workaround. High: A defect receives a “high” severity level if some fundamental system functionalities are impaired but a workaround exists. Medium: A defect receives a “medium” severity level if no critical functionality is impaired and a workaround exists for the defect. Low: A defect receives a “low” severity level if the problem involves a cosmetic feature of the system. To be honest, I do not get it.. For example point 2. What if fundamental but not critical feature is impaired and there is NOT a workaround. The same for point 3: what if no critical functionality is affected but there is no workaround? E.g. optional field in the registration form does not work. No workaround but barely an issue.

  My recent installation 10.10 on my laptop keeps freezing/crashing on start-up after working perfectly for one day. The system just freezes, like a screnshot, and a restart is required. It happens directly after login or just as any application is selected. Nothing new has been installed. I have just moved from XP so I would be very grateful if some one could please explain to me, as simply as possible, how to do the following...   First, I should say that I am a total beginner. When answering, please do not take for granted that I understand even the most basic step. Now for my question: Yesterday, I was given the option to update to ubuntu 14.04. I clicked yes, and the system took about 2.5 hours to accomplish this task. • HP mini 210 touchpad issues

  Need help in getting the right mouse click to work on a HP mini 210-1015TU when using the touchpad. If I plug in a USB mouse, both left click and right click function as normal. Using the touchpad however I can only get the left click to work. Attempting to right click gives the result expected from a left click. As per some comments on a forum I added a file 11-touchpad.conf to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d. I can provide further details if required. This made touchpad operation noticeably smoother but the problem with the right mouse click remains. Not a hardware problem as right clicked worked with 10.04 and still works with Windows 7 starter. 10.10 installed using wubi.

During our last release, we received lots of bugs from customer in-spite of 2 weeks of testing Sprint . We don't have dedicated test team. The developers does the unit test & User acceptance test. Every day triggers automated regression test. I am afraid the developers are not testing the entire workflow because its time consuming also not able to automate it because of its complexity. Any suggestions ?. The legacy code (15 yrs development) has less code coverage. How can I improve quality ? Note: Now not possible to hire testers to have independent test team!!

I have a two core processor. So two threads can run in parallel. I was trying to see if I have a work w that is done by 2 threads, and if I have the same work done by t threads with each thread doing w/t of the work.
