  • MVC 3 ModelView passing parameters between view & controller

    I've been playing with MVC 3 in a test project and have the following issue. I have Group & Subscriber entities and those are coupled through a SubscriberGroup table. Using the DetailView of Group I open a view of SubscriberGroup containing all subscribers. This list has the option to filter. So far it all works, however when I call the AddToGroup method on the controller it fails. Specifically it goes into the method but doesn't pass the subscriberCheckedModels list. Am I doing something wrong?     Looking for suggestions/best practices on managing error codes and messages in a multi-tiered applications. Specifically things like: Where should error codes be defined? Enum? Class? How are error messages or further details associated with the error codes? resource files? attributes on enum values, etc.? If you have a multi-tier application consisting of DAL, BLL, UI, and Common projects for example, should there be a single giant list of codes for all tiers, or are the codes extensible by project/tier? Update: Important to mention that I can't rely solely on Exceptions and custom Exception types for error reporting, as some clients for this application will be via web services (SOAP & REST) Any suggestions welcome!

    in my asp.net mark up I have a foreach loop that iterates through a simple list. In this foreach loop I am adding a new user control and attempting to pass in the value from the loop. However, this value just wont budge and get inside that damn control! I am trying to use an NSDictionary, this is simple enough when I have objective c objects, but what about other data?   • Problem passing a reference as a named parameter to a variadic function

    I'm having problems in Visual Studio 2003 with the following: void foo(const char*& str, ...) { va_list args; va_start(args, str); const char* foo; while((foo = va_arg(args, const char*)) != NULL) { printf("%s\n", foo); } } When I call it: const char* one = "one"; foo(one, "two", "three", NULL); I get: Access violation reading location 0xcccccccc on the printf() line -- va_arg() returned 0xcccccccc. I finally discovered it's the first parameter being a reference that breaks it -- if I make it a normal char* everything is fine. It doesn't seem to matter what the type is; being a reference causes it to fail at runtime. Is this a known problem with VS2003, or is there some way in which that's legal behavior? It doesn't happen in GCC; I haven't tested with newer Visual Studios to see if the behavior goes away

  • Passing get values mangles my urls

    Just upgraded from 1.3 to 2.0.3 and I'm trying to migrate all the changes. I'm noticing that the following line echo $this->Html->link('Quote', array('controller'=>'crm_quotes', 'action'=>'index', $lead['id'].'/'.$crmContact['CrmContact']['id']), null); builds the url "/crm_quotes/index/15/21". When I click the link I'm taken to url: "/crm_quotes/index/15%2F212 so it's replacing the characters with the html # but it's ultimately breaking the link. When I manually edit the URL to the correct one: "/crm_quotes/index/15/21" the page loads. Can someone enlighten me? Should I be using the url function rather than link? I have a lot of pages that need multiple parameters passed in the url. I was using named parameters but after reading some comments by Mark Story I decided to stop the named parameters as he hinted at their possible removal from future versions.

    I've create a module called finder that I want to take parameters from a url, crunch them and then display results via a tpl file. here's the relevant functions... function finder_menu() { $items = array(); $items['finder'] = array( 'page callback' => 'finder_view', 'access callback' => TRUE, ); return $items; } function finder_theme($existing, $type, $theme, $path) { return array( 'finder_view' => array( 'variables' => array('providers' => null), 'template' => 'results', ), ); } function finder_preprocess_finder_view(&$variables) { // put my data into $variables } function finder_view($zipcode = null) { // Get Providers from Zipcode return theme('finder_view', $providers); } Now I know finder_view is being called. I also know finder_preprocess_finder_view is being called. Finally, I know that result.tpl.php is being used to output. But I cannot wrap my head around how to do meaningful work in the callback, somehow make that data available in the preprocessor to add to "variables" so that i can access in the tpl file. in a situation where you are using a tpl file is the callback even useful for anything? I've done this in the past where the callback does all the work and passes to a theming function, but i want to use a file for output instead this time. Thanks...

    I have the following php form. I am trying to make it so that when the form is loaded, the values will be assigned the appropriate check- variable. This variable will contain either "checked or "". If it contains checked, the way it is displayed with the html should cause the relevant checkbox to be checked. As it is, the variables do not seem to be being passed. When I echo out $deleted or $notice from within the submitinfo branch, they are blank. Furthermore, nothing is being inserted into the database, and I am not getting any database error. Now I have put the following code at the bottom of login_check.php login_check.php header('Location:welcome.php') But I want to pass $_POST['username'] from login_check.php to welcome.php so that I can make use of $_POST['username'] in my welcome page. Is there any way by which I can pass an argument like in the above case?

    Hi. I use an instance of NSXMLParser. I store found chars in NSMutableStrings that are stored in an NSMutableDictionary and these Dicts are then added to an NSMutableArray. When I test this everything seems normal: I count 1 array, x dictionnaries and x strings. In a detailview controller file I want to show my parsed results. I call the class where everthing is stored but I get (null) returned.     Hello all, I have the following (bash) shell script, that I would ideally use to kill multiple processes by name. #!/bin/bash kill `ps -A | grep $* | awk '{ print $1 }'` However, while this script works is one argument is passed: end chrome (the name of the script is end) it does not work if more than one argument is passed: $end chrome firefox grep: firefox: No such file or directory What is going on here? I thought the $* passes multiple arguments to the shell script in sequence. I'm not mistyping anything in my input - and I the programs I wan to kill (chrome and firefox) are open. Any help is appreciated.

    I am trying to execute a function in Java (from C) that has the following signature: public void execute(int x, int y, int action); My problem is to define the function signature in GetMethodID: env->GetMethodID(hostClass, "execute", "(I;I;I;)V"); The problem I ma getting is: W/dalvikvm( 1849): Bogus method descriptor: (I;I;I;)V W/dalvikvm( 1849): Bogus method descriptor: (I;I;I;)V D/dalvikvm( 1849): GetMethodID: method not found: Lcom/device/client/HostConnection;.execute:(I;I;I;)V I am not sure how to specify the method signature in GetMethodID (for 3 integers as parameters). I saw people use the ";" to separate parameters in other posts for the String and File class, but nothing with primitives like integer. What would be the correct way to do this please? Thank you.
