    Hello Everybody, my problem is, I want to validate an email adresse with jquery. Not only the syntax but rather if the email is already registrated. There are some tutorials but they are not working!     When using :methods in to_json, is there a way to rename the key? I'm trying to replace the real id with a base62 version of it and I want that the value of base62_id has the key id. @obj.to_json( :except => :id :methods => :base62_id ) I tried to do @obj.to_json( :except => :id :methods => { :id => :base62_id } ) but that didn't work. Any advice?

  • In Node.JS, how do I return an entire object from a separate .js file?

    Thanks for looking. I am new to Node.js and trying to figure out how to request an object from a separate file (rather than just requesting a function) but everything I try--exports,module-exports,etc--is failing. So, for example, if I have foo.js: var methods = { Foobar:{ getFoo: function(){return "foo!!";}, getBar: function(){return "bar!!";} } }; And now I want to call a function within an object of foo.js from index.js: var m = require('./Methods'); function fooMain(){ return m.Foobar.getFoo(); }; How do I do this? I have tried all sorts of combinations of exports and module-exports but they seem to only work if I call a discrete function that is not part of an object. Thanks!

    Hi. I got a part on my page I want to improve. It's a file upload that users can add their contacts from files like excel, csv & outlook. I read the contacts and place them in the database, so what I would like to do is to have a regular icon that spins while that operation is doing that, how could I do that? Ajax? I don't want progress bar for the file upload but the operation for reading the file EDIT: I want to know how to make this work with the add to database using ajax. like should I use a updatepanel?     I'm trying to understand how my php script can pass an array to my javascript code. Using the following php, I pass an array: $c = array(3,2,7); echo json_encode($c); My javascript is as follows: $.post("getLatLong.php", { latitude: 500000}, function(data){ arrayData = data document.write(arrayData) document.write(arrayData[0]); document.write(arrayData[0]); document.write(arrayData[0]); }); </script> What is printed out on screen is [3,2,7][3, I'm trying to understand how json_encode works - I though I would be able to pass the array to a variable, and then access it like a normal javascript array, but it views my array as one large text string. How do ensure that it reads it like an array?

    Hi Guys, I am using Dojo and making a AJAX call to a JAVA Class and trying to get the output of the program to a Alert box to the client. var showResult = function(result){ console.log("Showing Result()"); var store = new dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore({ data: result}); console.dir(store); store.fetch( { onItem: function(data) { alert("Hie"); }, onError: function(error,request){ alert("ERROR");} }); }; This is my code, showResult basically is call back function from xhr request. I can see console.dir(store) printed onto Firebug but the fetch function always returns the onError block. My store array is of the form {info="Test Message"} and I need to retrieve "Test Message" and display it in a Alert box. Any help?

A request to a REST web service developed using Apache CXF and Spring MVC with MySQL as back end serving references(a field in database) to images,audio and video files stored in file system. In the response message, what is the best method to send the content to the client(another application using the service which I developed). URI: http://www.filmservices.com/film/{id} A client here is not the end user. Send the encoded hyperlink's(where the content is stored in the file system) to the client, so that the client renders the response and displays it to the browser. Use Base64 to encode the message(image,audio,video) and send it to the client. Main concern is performance.

    I found this question which is a great starting point towards creating embedded widgets that enable showing dynamic content on remote sites (i.e. a different domain). One problem I'm having is with the following code: public ActionResult SomeAction() { return new JsonpResult { Data = new { Widget = "some partial html for the widget" } }; } It says Widget = "some partial html for the widget" but this doesn't really mean anything to me. I assume that Widget would contain the HTML representing what the user wants to see on the screen, but How do I get the contents of my Partial View into Widget? I think there is some mess with charset code/decode but never figured out. The SQL' table is in "utf8_unicode_ci" format and the column in "utf8_general_ci". The content-type of the page is <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> Thanks for help me!

  • Passing a web service an unknown number of parameters

    I'm relatively new to utilizing web services. I'm trying to create one that will be accepting data from a ASP.Net form whose input controls are created dynamically at runtime and I don't how many control values will be getting passed. I'm thinking I'll be using jQuery's serialize() on the form to get the data, but what do I have the web service accept for a parameter? I thought maybe I could use serializeArray(), but still I don't know what type of variable to accept for the JavaScript array. Finally, I was thinking that I might need to create a simple data transfer object with the data before sending it along to the web service. I just didn't wanna go through with the DTO route if there was a much simpler way or an established best practice that I should follow. Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide and let me know I wasn't clear enough, or if you have any questions.

    Hi I am trying to acess a wcf service from a jQuery client Specifically this example http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/WCF_JQUERY_ASMX.aspx#4 All works well when the client webpage is on the same domain as the service As soon as I move the client webpage to another domain it breaks. It cant reach the service and the request fails This happens for all the examples, ASMX, REST and WCF any ideas how to get this working cross daomain?
