  • Idling CPU at 65C, re-place or re-paste?

    Replaced Graphics card because screen would go black at a certain temp while gaming, but sound would stay on (but locked up). Then with replacement card whole PC shuts off during gaming now because the CPU is overheating. Note: CPU is only supposed to go up to 71C max according to manufacturer and it goes well over upon load. System Temp: 30C TL;DR: Idling CPU at 65C, started to shut down due to overheating, re-place (CPU, or CPU and Motherboard) or re-paste?

    Hi, After using MyDefrag, when I start the defrag again, two new drives have appeared - with very odd names. They are both named the same thing: \\?\Volume{WhatLooksLikeAGUID} Note the Guid (and hence the drive names) are both the same - any idea whats going on here? Thanks. OS: Windows XP Pro SP2.

    Hi, I have the following command: find Acc*\bin\Debug\*.pdb > temp.txt Looking in temp.txt, I have: Accounting/bin/Debug/Accounting.pdb Accounting/bin/Debug/BackendProcess.pdb NOTE the forward slashes. Why does it output file names like this? And how do I get it to output backslashes, so I can use del on those files? Thanks

  • pix 501 encryption license reduces inside hosts to 10

    Hi I have an unlimted pix 501 with no encryption license installed. I have applied for and received a 3DES license. When I install the 3DES license, the inside hosts goes from unlimited to 10. Thankfully I had the presence of mind to keep a note of the old activation key. Is this normal behaviour? I would have thought not as I bought the pix as unlimited. Thanks Cammy

    I am unable to add an existing project or an existing item to any project or solution in visual studio 2008 (SP1). I only get an "Operation cannot be completed error". Any ideas? Things I have tried that did not work: ran devenv /resetsettings (no luck) Un-installed Resharper 4.5. (no luck) Repaired Visual Studio from Add/Remove Programs. (no luck) Un-installed AnkhSVN.     I know that bigger capacity hard-drives with the same RPM are faster then smaller capacity hard-drives. I was wondering if the same is true for ram. Given two ram clocked at 1600mhz and with identical CLs: 9-9-9-24. Is a 2x8 going to perform better then a 2x4 ? Note that I am not asking if having more ram will improve the performance of my PC, I'm asking if the bigger capacity ram performs better. Thank You.

  • How to stop Vim from scrolling when splitting vertically

    The problem Somehow on this box every time I split a window (^W v or :vs) the original pane scrolls in such a way that my cursor is exactly scrolloff=5 from the top. I have tried to remove all ~/.vim* and /etc/vim* files but no dice. Even a aptitude purge vim followed by a rm -rf /usr/share/vim/ /etc/vim* didn't change anything. Note: This seems to be specific to a certain Vim version since I do not have this on my other boxes with the same .vimrc. Versions Vim: 7.3 Ubuntu: 11.04

  • Dropped Hotmail Emails

    So I use a custom Hotmail domain name. Sometimes I send emails to people but they never reply. I ask these people and they say that they never got the email. It's like packets are being dropped somehow. I just send regular emails from the online email application. One thing to note is that most of the time the dropped emails are the emails that have not been sent to other Hotmail users.

For someone who builds and tests applications at home for non-commercial use, is it worth paying for a Workstation license? Do I get any benefits over Player? As it stands right now, various things are out of sync, and what may work in testing/QA can easily fail in production because of settings/patch/etc inconsistencies. I was thinking what would be best is to clone the entire disk daily and push it onto the staging server... Would this be the best method...? (note: these are all windows servers)

    Note, there's already a question on this regard, but it's totally useless. I need to blur, or put a small opaque mask to a moving object on a movie I took, I am using Mac OS X. Clearly, I don't want to shell out a lot of money for something so simple, so getting Adobe Premiere or similar software is a no go. I could however consider paying a small software (max 30 dollars) for this specific task.

    In my VPS (Hypervm/CENTOS 5.8 i686 virtuozzo) I need to add IP bans with comments ( http://spamcleaner.org/en/misc/iptables-comment.html ) When I type: iptables -A INPUT -s 222.111.111.111 -j DROP -m comment --comment "spammer123" I receive: iptables: Unknown error 4294967295 I research almost 2 hours but i find nothing, someone says "its a bug and you have to rebuild kernel!?" Does anyone know a solution or a different method for adding a comment or note ?

  • Java update "Failed to download required installation files."

    On my Windows 7 machine the Java update consistently fails with this error message. This seems to a common problem, does anyone have an insight into what's going wrong, and is there a fix for it other than either disabling the update check (seems a bad idea from a security point of view) or waiting for the nag message and then manually installing the new version (annoying and stupid from a usability point of view). Note that I did install the previous version manually (updating from 6.23 to 6.30 I think?), thinking that might resolve the issue, but no luck.
