  • Silverlight change color custom control programatically

    Hi all, I have this Ellipse which I turned into a custom control so i could animate it programatically. However I am having trouble changing it's color. I know about changing a shapes color like this: aRectangle.Fill = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Blue); However I cannot do this with a custom control. Anyone know how? Thanks.

    I have the following (C#) code namespace A { interface IX { bool Prop { get; set; } } class X : IX { public bool Prop { ... } } // hidden implementation of IX } namespace B { .. A.IX x = ...; object.DataContext = x; object.SetBinding(SomeDependencyProperty, new Binding("Prop")); .. } So I have a hidden implementation of an interface with a property "Prop" and I need to bind to this property in code. My problem is that the binding isn't working unless I make class X public. Is there any way around this problem?

  • C# - Silverlight - Custom control or UserControl ?

    I need a button that is visually completely customizable, but has custom logic to publish events and manage it's visual state based on events it has registered for. When I say visually customizable, I mean I should be able to both create the button in xaml and set it's style by binding to the supplied style. Or I can create an instance of the button and set the style by passing a parameter to an alternate constructor. Or by calling a method on the button class to set the style. I do not plan on substituting the controls template, it should be a button. Can anyone point me to some code samples of this?

  • RTS Movement + Navigation + Destination

    I'm looking into building my own simple RTS game, and I'm trying to get my head around the movement of single, and multi selected units. (Developing in Unity) After much research, I now know that its a bigger task than I thought. So I need to break it down. I already have an A* navigation system with static obstacles taken into account. I don't want to worry about dynamic local avoidance right now. So I guess my first break down question would be: How would I go about moving mutli units to the same location. Right now - my units move to the location, but because they're all told to go to the same location, they start to 'fight' over one another to get there. I think theres two paths to go down: 1) Give each individual unit a separate destination point that is close to the 'master' destination point - and get the units to move to that. 2) Group my selected units in a flock formation, and move that entire flock group towards the destination point. Question about each path: 1a) How can I go about finding a suitable destination point that is close to the master destination? What happens if there isn't a suitable destination point? 1b) Would this be more CPU heavy? As it has to compute a path for each unit? (40 unit count). 2a) Is this a good idea? Not giving the units themselves a destination, but instead the flock (which holds the units within). The units within the flock could then maintain a formation (local avoidance) - though, again local avoidance is not an issue at this current time. 2b) Not sure what results I would get if I have a flock of 5 units, or a flock of 40 units, as the radius would be greater - which might mess up my A* navigation system. In other words: A flock of 2 units will be able to move down an alleyway, but a flock of 40 wont. But my nav system won't take that into account. I would appreciate any feedback.   • Adventures in Windows 8: Working around the navigation animation issues in LayoutAwarePage

    LayoutAwarePage is a pretty cool add-on to Windows 8 apps, which facilitates greatly the implementation of orientation-aware (portrait, landscape) as well as state-aware (snapped, filled, fullscreen) apps. It has however a few issues that are obvious when you use transformed elements on your page. Adding a LayoutAwarePage to your application If you start with a blank app, the MainPage is a vanilla Page, with no such feature. In order to have a LayoutAwarePage into your app, you need to add this class (and a few helpers) with the following operation: Right click on the Solution and select Add, New Item from the context menu. From the dialog, select a Basic Page (not a Blank Page, which is another vanilla page). If you prefer, you can also use Split Page, Items Page, Item Detail Page, Grouped Items Page or Group Detail Page which are all LayoutAwarePages. Personally I like to start with a Basic Page, which gives me more creative freedom. Adding this new page will cause Visual Studio to show a prompt asking you for permission to add additional helper files to the Common folder. One of these helpers in the LayoutAwarePage class, which is where the magic happens. LayoutAwarePage offers some help for the detection of orientation and state (which makes it a pleasure to design for all these scenarios in Blend, by the way) as well as storage for the navigation state (more about that in a future article). Issue with LayoutAwarePage When you use UI elements such as a background picture, a watermark label, logos, etc, it is quite common to do a few things with those: Making them partially transparent (this is especially true for background pictures; for instance I really like a black Page background with a half transparent picture placed on top of it). Transforming them, for instance rotating them a bit, scaling them, etc. Here is an example with a picture of my two beautiful daughters in the Bird Park in Kuala Lumpur, as well as a transformed TextBlock. The image has an opacity of 40% and the TextBlock a simple RotateTransform. If I create an application with a MainPage that navigates to this LayoutAwarePage, however, I will have a very annoying effect: The background picture appears with an Opacity of 100%. The TextBlock is not rotated. This lasts only for less than a second (during the navigation animation) before the elements “snap into place” and get their desired effect.   • iPhone app with tab bar and navigation bar as peers

    I'm trying to write an application that uses a navigation bar and tab bar in what (I'm gathering) is an unusual manner. Basically, I've got several "pages" ("home", "settings", etc) that each have their own tab. I'd also like to have it so that the "home" page is the root view of the navigation bar, and the other pages are the second-level views of the navigation bar. That is, I should be able to navigate to any page by clicking the appropriate tab bar item, and should be able to navigate to the home page from any other page by clicking the navigation bar's back button. Currently, I have a UINavigationBar (through a UINavigationController) and a UITabBar (through a UITabController) as children of a UIView. The various pages' view controllers are set as the tab controller's viewControllers property, and the home page's controller is also set as the navigation controller's root view. Each page view's tag is set to its index in the tab control. I have the following logic in the tab controller's didSelectViewController delegate method: - (void) tabBarController:(UITabBarController*) tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController*) viewController { if ([navController.viewControllers count] > 1) [navController popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [navController pushViewController:viewController animated:YES]; } Also, in the navigation controller's didShowViewController delegate method, I have the following code: - (void) navigationController:(UINavigationController *) navigationController didShowViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController animated:(BOOL)animated { tabController.selectedIndex = viewController.view.tag; } The problem that's occurring is that when I run this, the navigation bar, tab bar and home page all display ok, but the tab bar will not respond to input - I cannot select a different tab. I gather it's more usual to have the tab bar as the child of the navigation control, or vice versa. This doesn't seem to fit my approach, because I don't want to have to individually create the subordinate control each time a change occurs in the parent control - eg: recreate tab bar each time the navigation bar changes. Does anyone have suggestions as to what's wrong and how to fix it? I'm probably missing something obvious, but whatever it is I can't seem to find it. Thanks! EDIT: I'm guessing it has something to do with both controller's trying to have ownership of the page controller, but I can't for the life of me figure out a way around it.

  • Is there a navigation app for iPad which re-calculate the route?

    iPad 3G successfully shows me current location, but google maps are not re-calculating the route if I did not follow exactly initially suggested by it. Normal auto navigators re-calculate on the fly. CoPilot Live HD app I see in the app store has very bad feedback. Do you know any other that are better, please? I need it with maps for the continental U.S., and being able to re-calculate depending on my real current location. I'd be OK even if it won't do that automatically, — I'd tap some button.

The maps should be stored on the device/memory card so no Internet-connection is required There should be some way to interact with the application "through code"; sending route requests, getting current location perhaps, bringing app to foreground/background, etc. An API so it can be controlled from another application. No monthly fees The only one I found so far to match the above is Sygic Navigation. However, I havent yet been able to communication with the app even though they say that it can be done. Still investigating that...

    I'm trying to figure out how to change the color of the links in my fixed navigation (placed on the side of the page) when it reaches a certain section on the page (because the background of that section is the same color as the links in my navigation). I am a jQuery newbie, so I don't really know how to go about this.
