  • Java - Finding distance between player and tile in array

    What is the best way performance wise to do this? When I click a tile I want it to get the distance and if I am close enough I can interact with the tile. One way would be to find the tile by doing mouse / tile width when I click correct? But then how would I get that tiles position? I know how to find the distance I just don't know how to get a certain tiles position from the array when I click it

    I'm using the following code in my viewDidLoad to load a sound: NSURL * url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/Moto - Hit Sound.mp3", [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]]]; NSError * error; hitSoundPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc]initWithContentsOfURL:url error:&error]; hitSoundPlayer.numberOfLoops = 0; Then I'm using this in a void method to play the sound: if(CGRectIntersectsRect(main.frame, enemy1.frame)){ [hitSoundPlayer play]; } This does seem to work, however the first time the sound is played there is a lot of lag and the game stops temporarily. I'm using this same method for when in an IBAction and it works fine, it must be the fact that it's also detecting a collision that makes the sound lag. If I want to be able to play sounds quickly and on the spot without any sort of lag am I doing the right thing? Do I want to use another method? I'm not using any frameworks like cocos2d. If you need to see any more code just ask.

I was thinking to implement some kind of enumerated values like this private enum ExperienceValues { FriendlyMatch = 0.1, Training = 0.15, LeagueMatch = 0.6, CupMatch = 0.85, Qualification = 1.4 } And to calculate experience by the time user spend on the field 90min * 0.6 = 54 Is this approach ok ?     I have a table view in which if each cell is touched video plays. Each cell have image of the video cell.imageView.image. And on the image I have a button (UIButton) with play symbol. If I touch the play button the corresponding video should be played same like the when cell is touched. I have a selector for the play button. But I need (NSIndex*)indexPath to get the current row. But I can't access the indexPath in my selector. How can I make this? Thank You.

  • How do I set up an IP address on a Linux VM running in VM Player so I can access it from my Windows 7 host?

    I have just installed an Openbravo appliance on my Windows 7 VM Player host. I am now staring at a command prompt that tells me to go to http://localhost to access the ERP system, but I cannot find any browser on the appliance. I am guessing I should rather follow their advice to configure an IP address for the Linux VM and just access that from a Windows browser on my host. How do I go about this? More specifically, How do I choose a local IP address to assign? How do I set things up so that this IP address is visible to my Windows host? Their help says to assign an DNS, to make the server visible to the internet, but internet visibility per se is not needed. How should I interpret or adapt this help for that? Finally to make the IP address available to the Internet, assign some DNS servers to it: $ echo "nameserver IP_DNS1" /etc/resolv.conf $ echo "nameserver IP_DNS2" /etc/resolv.conf

    I copied a Windows XP VM that I've been using on my Mac (VMWare Fusion)to a Windows 7 machine that has VMWare 7 installed. I was quite pleased when it started up and appeared to work, but when I actually tried to use it, I noticed it runs very slowly. Unusably so. It takes about 10 minutes, for example, for a Visual Studio 2010 project to open (with VS 2010 running in the VM). Is this supposed to work? Is there any way to fix this VM to get it to run well under Windows VMWare Player?

  • Our Flash Streaming Player Occasionally Stutters like a Skipping CD after a Period of Time

    We offer a streaming player for a number of our clients, who are responsible for their providing us with their own audio streams. We have written a very simple flash player that can play all of the streams that we support (icecast/shoutcast/live365/mp3 over http/etc). Unfortunately, we have found that when listening, our player sometimes begins to stutter (like a skipping cd), sometimes after only 10 minutes, and sometimes after an hour of listening. We have noticed this behaviour in firefox on both linux and windows. Does anybody know anything about this problem? We know that flash isn't ideal for infinite streams of audio, but it's about all that we can find that's on every platform out there. If anybody can suggest a solution to our problem, I'll be your friend forever.     I'd like to embed a music (flash) player in a table with clickable images but the embed code seems to throw the table properties off - it extends the width of the table. Is it possible to embed the player on the same row as the image whilst still retaining the table width?   • How can I stream video from my XP sp3 desktop to my win 7 laptop?

    I would like to stream media from my XP sp3 desktop to my Win7 laptop. I currently have Windows Media Player 11 on both machines. The XP one is set up for the media sharing service as far as I can tell. I have also set the 'Play To' option to my Win 7 machine on the XP WMP. However, the only way I've been able to 'stream' is to simply tell my Win7 WMP to add a network folder to its libraries. This seems to work over the wifi but it does stutter a touch, even with a 20 second buffer. The stuttering also appears randomly, maybe 4-5 times during a 22 minute show. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Is this setup OK or am I missing something?

  • Can the Windows Media Player COM control play AVI files from memory (instead of from a file)?

    I have a C# app, and I'm looking at using the Windows Media Player COM control to play animation and audio. So far, the only way I see of programatically controlling what the control is playing is to set its URL property to point to some file (I assume there's some way to pass in a playlist). Is there any way the WMP can render an AVI that is entirely in-memory, like a MemoryStream or something? If so, can WMP skip from one AVI to the next seamlessly (i.e. no glitch in either the audio or the video as it transitions from one to the next)? If WMP only plays files, is there some way to cue up a list of the files in advance of play start? If so, can WMP be made to skip from one file to the next without a brief interruption? Any knowledge or links to knowledge would be much appreciated.

    Hi, everyone! I am writing a simple Windows app in c++, that will be able to send commands to windows media player. My problem is that I want my app to move to the previous song in the playlist. IWMPControls::previous() seems to do the job, but its behavior differs from what is written in msdn. In fact this function rewinds current media to the beginning and then (if current position is less than 2-3 seconds) it switches to the previous song. I would like to implement two different buttons (please, don't ask me why :)) - one for rewinding to the beginning, and one - to moving to previous song. Is there any easy way to do this through IWMPControls (or any other WMP-related COM interface)? p.s. I could handle this if I could get the position (index) of the current song in the list. But as far as I read MSDN, it seems to me that there is no easy way to get the current item index from playlist...

  • How do I get information about the level to the player object?

    I have a design problem with my Player and Level class in my game. So below is a picture of the game. The problem is I don't want to move on the black space and only the white space. I know how to do this as all I need to do is get the check for the sf::Color::Black and I have methods to do this in the Level class. The problem is this piece of code void Game::input() { player.input(); } void Game::update() { (*level).update(); player.update(); } void Game::render() { (*level).render(); player.render(); } So as you there is a problem in that how do I get the map information from the Level class to the Player class. Now I was thinking if I made the Player position static and pass it into the Level as parameter in update I could do it. The problem is interaction. I don't know what to do. I could maybe make player go into the Level class. However, what if I want multiple levels? So I have big design problems that I'm trying to solve.

  • Making HTML5 videos stored on AWS S3 **difficult** to download (because I cant make it impossible)

    I am building a website that hosts video's stored on AWS's S3 service. The videos are played thru a HTML5 player we have built. Ive just been asked to make sure "nobody can steal our video's". Now I know that if you really don't want something stolen, don't put it up on the internet. However I just need to secure these videos as good as possible, the videos need to at the very least resist someone going thru the source code and trying to download them manually. One option available to me is to completely rebuild the video player in flash. This is not ideal, for several reasons, notably because I would also then have to build an App for mobile devices to be able to view this site. So I am looking for other options. I have heard about using a token to make the file available only during certain times. I have heard of using a separate file to serve the videos that sits between the HTML5 page and the video file. I am also having a look at IAM, the Secure AWS Access Control, in the hopes AWS can solve this problem for me. Can anyone here recommend any of these options? Or perhaps suggest other options available to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Overlapping audio in IE when I show/hide videos

    I have a thumbnail list with links to individual videos. Everything works fine in all browsers but IE. In IE, if I start a video and (without slicking pause or stop) click on the thumbnail for the next video, the audio continues playing. In other words, the audio for both videos plays at once. Any suggestions?   • Burn 24/96 flac files to play on standalone player

    I have vinyl record rip in 24/96 flac format. Each track is almost 200 MB big, so the album won't fit on CD. How to burn these files on a DVD to play with the same quality on standalone DVD player? My player supports SACD, DVD Audio and DVD video as well. My OS is Ubuntu Lucid (preferred), but I have also WinXp with Nero installed. BTW, is there any difference between DVD+ and DVD- for audio?

  • cannot print from flash-player plugin

    I am running flash-player plug-in 10.0.32.10 inside of Firefox on a SLED 11 machine. Firefox can print to the network printer without issue from File Print. However, I cannot get the flash-player plugin to print at all. The print dialog comes up, asks for which printer, and which pages. I click Print and it was as if I had pressed cancel. Is this a known issue?
