  • A client wants us to screen work machines for pornography. Is it possible?

    A long-time client has asked us to help screen their work machines for pornography. They're worried about liability if sensitive materials were found. Their main concerns (for obvious reasons) are video, audio, and image files. If possible, they'd also like to scan text-based documents for inappropriate content. They have a hierarchy of not-for-work content starting with blatantly illegal (I don't have to list details), moving down to obviously offensive, and also including things that may be offensive to some - think lingerie ads, joke cards featuring butt cracks, and anything related to Howie Mandel. My questions are: Is this ethical? I think it is since every employee legally agrees that their work machine belongs to the company and is subject to search. The screenings are not to occur on personal machines brought to work. Is it feasible? I've done a lot of image processing/indexing but this seems like a whole new world of complexity. Any references to successful techniques for discovering porn? Is it appropriate for me to archive the results when something is discovered?

  • How to get nginx to serve up on an elastic IP

    I have an EC2 instance which is serving up PHP pages with nginx and php-fpm. This works perfectly fine when accessed through the public DNS for the instance. However if I try to access the site with the Elastic IP which is bound to it, it serves up a generic "Welcome to nginx" page, even though in my server block i have listen 80 (which i thought listened on all incoming IPs on port 80).   • cpanel api fileman alternative

    trying to remotely unpack a zip file, then move the contents on cpanel servers. Some research led me to xmlApi class and the fileman module. And here my problem lies as Fileman module is returning html based on the cpanel theme (which we won't know) - and all I need is a list of files. here is the code flow: * using ftp, the zip is uploaded * using Fileman module unpack zip * loop through unpacked files and move here is my call to list the files: $files_html = $xml->api1_query($user, "Fileman", "listfiles", array( "{$ftp_dir}", //source dir 0 //chooser )); and it is returning the html for the filemanager - which is going to be different based on the cpanel theme. Surely their has to be another way to simply just list the files in that directory? any help would be appreciated, been researching this for past day and can't find solution anywhere. cheers ;)

    Hi, I'd like to simplify the URL's to access a Glassfish V3 application by removing file extensions and otherwise shortening URL's. I've already set my application as the default application, so that there is no need to include the context root in the URL. I'd like to: * Remove file extensions * Shorten the URL to files deep in the folder structure I'd like to do this using pattern matching rather than on a per file basis (Site is small at the moment but will change frequently and grow). Some examples of what I'd like to do: * foo.com/bar.html - foo.com/bar * foo.com/folder1/folder2/bar2.html - foo.com/bar2 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cheers, Jin

    My school uses Ironport for filtering/monitoring web traffic. I have a bit of curiosity as to why it tacks on a x-junk: header onto everything. After going through a few curl tests, I've found no real connection between what is shown on the page and the x-junk: header. here's my curl request: any ideas?   • Can't figure out how to make Slitaz USB persistent

    I installed Slitaz on my USB. However I can't figure out how to make it persistent automatically. There are different sources telling me different ways to make it persistent. One told me to add "slitaz home=usb" to the syslinux.cfg file like this: append initrd=/boot/rootfs.gz rw root=/dev/null vga=normal autologin slitaz home=usb but it didn't work for me. http://www.slitaz.org/en/doc/handbook/liveusb.html gave an example of how to do it manually but I didn't try it and I also want it to happen automatically. custompc.co.uk/features/602451/make-any-pc-your-own-with-linux-on-a-usb-key.html is an older article that also explains how to make the USB persistent but I don't want to try it cause it looks outdated (from 2008) does anyone know the best way to make the USB automatically persistent?

    As part of Tuxedo 11gR1 release, we introduced Oracle Tuxedo JCA Adapter. Tuxedo JCA Adapter is based JCA 1.5 specification and should be deployable on any JCA 1.5 compliant application server. I am saying "should" as we have tested Tuxedo JCA Adapter with WebLogic Server, IBM WebSphere and RedHat JBoss only. This adapter provides bi-directional service invocation and transaction and security context propagation from app server to Tuxedo. Basically Tuxedo JCA Adapter provides similar functionality to WebLogic Tuxedo Connector (WTC), if you are already familiar with it. One question we often receive is whether Tuxedo JCA Adapter 11g will interoperate with Tuxedo versions prior to 11g. Answer to this question is yes. Tuxedo JCA Adapter uses Tuxedo domains protocol, is deployed on application server and can interoperate with any current Tuxedo version, starting from version 8.1 and above.   • Building Web Applications with ACT and jQuery

    My second talk at TechEd is focused on integrating ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery features into websites (if you’re interested in Silverlight you can download code/slides for that talk here). The content starts out by discussing ScriptManager features available in ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4 and provides details on why you should consider using a Content Delivery Network (CDN).  If you’re running an external facing site then checking out the CDN features offered by Microsoft or Google is definitely recommended. The talk also goes into the process of contributing to the Ajax Control Toolkit as well as the new Ajax Minifier tool that’s available to crunch JavaScript and CSS files. The extra fun starts in the next part of the talk which details some of the work Microsoft is doing with the jQuery team to donate template, globalization and data linking code to the project. I go into jQuery templates, data linking and a new globalization option that are all being worked on.   • Yahoo sitemap validation

    Hello, I am trying to submit sitemap.xml (index) to Yahoo Site Explorer but with no luck. I tried using website feed option in the site explorer to submit the sitemap, but I got validation errors. However, when submitting the same sitemap to google webmaster tools, the sitemap was validated successfully. Could it be for the fact that I am using sitemap with image tag: <image:image> <image:loc>http://www.domain.com/pic.jpg</image:loc> <image:title>picture</image:title> </image:image> When I tried validating the sitemap with inline tools such as http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html and http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv the error I received was: Attempt to load a schema document from http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1 (source: new namespace) for http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1, failed: Not recognised as W3C XML Schema or RDDL: html However, the declaration of the sitemap I use in the top of the document is the same as suggested by Google on their official page at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=178636 : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" xmlns:image="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1"> <url> Any ideas how to resolve this issue?     Users need a Java client to run the Forms-based content in Oracle E-Business Suite.  With Oracle JInitiator 1.3 out of Premier Support as of July 2009, Apps users must run the native Sun Java Runtime Engine (JRE) to access this content.In early 2008 we relaxed our certification and support policy for the use of the native Sun JRE clients with the E-Business Suite. The policy reflected a switch from certifying specific JRE versions for the E-Business Suite to specifying minimum versions, instead. This permits E-Business Suite users to run any JRE release above following minimum certified levels, even later ones that Oracle hasn't explicitly tested with the E-Business Suite: JRE 1.5.0_13 and higherJRE 1.6.0_03 and higherUnder our current policy, Oracle E-Business Suite end-users can upgrade their JRE clients whenever Sun releases a new JRE release on either the 1.5 or 1.6 versions. "html5" might include all the html5 standard tags, but your tags names wouldn't have to be based on their HTML counter-parts at all if you didn't want to. The "extratags" library for example might add an extra tag, called "jsinclude" which gets replaced with something like <script type="text/javascript" src="@content"></script> Tags can be optionally be followed by an opening brace. They will automatically be closed as the closing brace. If no brace is used, they will be closed after taking on element. Variables are prefixed with the @ symbol. They may be used inside double-quoted strings. I think I'll use single-quotes to indicate "no variable substitution" like PHP does. Filter functions can be applied to variables like @variable|filter. Arguments can be passed to the filter @variable|filter:@arg1,arg2="y" Attributes can be passed to tags by including them in (), like p(class="classname"). Some questions: Which symbol should I use to prefix variables? @ (like Razor), $ (like PHP), or something else? Should the @ symbol be necessary in "for" and "if" statements? It's kind of implied that those are variables. Tags and controls (like if,for) presently have the exact same syntax. Should I do something to differentiate the two? If so, what?   • Guests can't access KVM host server by name although nslookup and dig returns correct record

    So I have a KVM host that also runs an apache server with some yum repos. The VM guests are connected to the default virtual network, which is configured to offer DHCP and forwarding with NAT on virbr0 (192.168.12.1). The guests can successfully access the yum repos on the host by IP address, so for example curl 192.168.122.1/repo1 returns the content without problems. But I'd like to have the guests be able to reach the web server on the host by name rather IP address.   • What is /opt/sun_docs used for, in Solaris 10?

    Solaris 10, SPARC. While trying clean up my "/opt" directory, I saw the "sun_docs" directory. I scanned the contents with "du -a", and also found a single, possibly related file (/var/opt/sun_docs/sundocs.html). If I understand correctly, it looks like a local set of HTML files, designed to be ready by a locally running browser? It looks like it could be shared via http, if an admin knew how to turn that on. I did google and check docs.sun.com. -ben

    To give our user's the ability to protect content on their IIS6 sites we used a tool called IISPassword which emulates .htaccess to provide Basic authentication. There isn't support for IISPassword on IIS7 at the moment. Is there an equivalent mechanism I can use built into IIS7 instead? I'm well aware of ASP.NET Forms Authentication, but I need a way for users deploying non-ASP.NET content (such as PHP, Perl, images etc) to be able to use Basic authentication but not have to write code to achieve this. Is this possible?

    I recieve the following error when I try to configure SharePoint 2010 Server: "Cannot connect to the database master at SQL server at [computer.domain]. The database might not exist, or the current user does not have permission to connect to it."   • How to get the path of a file after publishing my game

    I made a "game" for a college project that reads data from .txt file at startup and draws some models according to the data in that file. This is the code I use using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(@"C:\Users\User\Desktop\Linije.txt")) { String linija; while ((linija = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { red = linija.Split(','); model = red[0]; x = red[1]; y = red[2]; z = red[3]; elementi.Add(Convert.ToInt32(model)); podatci.Add(new Vector3(Convert.ToSingle(x),Convert.ToSingle(y),Convert.ToSingle(z))); } } As you see, this code fills some variables that are then used to define the model that will be drawn and the coordinates where it will be drawn. The problem that I'm having is that I don't know how to distribute that file to other computers (obviously on another computer it would have another path)? Do you have some advices on how to do this? P.S I tried to put it in the Content and set the Build Action on None, and I can see the file in the content directory, but when I change it, nothing happens (the models don't change as they should)
