  I'm trying to create an Async Tree in jQuery Easy Ui. I understand the idea behind it, but will this work if my root node is not a node that is coming from the database or something (therefore, it does not have any id). My root node is some node that I define myself. How would I make an async tree in jquery easy ui to load a bunch of nodes as children of my root node (which, again has no id because it's not coming from the database. My children nodes are coming from the database though). I hope y'all understand what I'm trying to do here. Any help please

• e.Data.GetDataPresent not working in WinForms drag-and-drop handler?

  I'm trying to drag files into my application from a program called Locate32 (which is great by the way). Here is what happens: e.Data.GetFormats() {string[7]} [0]: "FileDrop" [1]: "FileNameW" [2]: "FileName" [3]: "FileNameMap" [4]: "FileNameMapW" [5]: "Shell IDList Array" [6]: "Shell Object Offsets" DataFormats.FileDrop "FileDrop" e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) false Why does e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) return false even though FileDrop is clearly one of the formats listed as "available"? Drag and drop works fine from Windows Explorer. If I do e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop) I get a list of a bunch of filenames, as I should. • Debugging unmanaged code while debugging managed code

  Hi, The .NET 3.5 application I am working on consists of bunch of different solutions. Some of these solutions consist of managed code(C#) and others have unmanaged code(C++). Methods written in C# communicate with the ones written in C++. I am trying to trace the dependencies between these various functions and I thought setting breakpoints on the solution consisting my C++ functions. One of the C# solutions have the startup project. I run this solution in debug mode with the expectation that the breakpoints in my unmanaged code will be hit but nothing really happens. Can somebody guide me through the process of debugging mixed applications such as these using the Visual Studio IDE? Thanks

• Reporting Services 2010 RDLC: Passing Querystring Parameters from an RDLC

  I'm trying to build a simple RDLC report that shows some data, and has a 'select' link that sends the browser off to a certain url with some data in the querystring (a key). In the vs2010 report designer, I can double-click on the column, then select action, and there are a bunch of thigns that seem like they might work. But none of them do. Under 'enable as a hyperlink' I can pick 'go to url' but there aren't any parameter options to pass. I also tried 'go to report' on the off chance that I could trick it into doing what I want. Here there are parameter options, but it knows that my url is not a report and the "select" link renders as text (not clickable). Any ideas? I'm pretty sure this used to work in vs2008, and it seems like something that must be doable. But I've been pulling out my hair for several hours on this one.

• Do I need afxres.h, if I am not using MFC? How do I remove it from the .RC script?

  I don't know RC scripts. I want to include Product version, File version, etc. metadata into a DLL I'm building. I'm using an .rc file to do that. The build is makefile driven. I'm following along with an example .rc scrpit I found. The template .rc file includes afxres.h , but I don't think I need that. But if I just remove it I get a bunch of compile errors. What does a basic, non-MFC RC script look like? • MVC2 Checkbox problem...

  When I used the html Helper Checkbox, it produces 2 form elements. I understand why this is, and I have no problem with it except: The un-checking of the checkbox does not seem to be in sync with the 'hidden' value. What I mean is that when I have a bunch of checkboxes being generated in a loop: <%=Html.CheckBox("model.MarketCategories[" & i & "].Value", category.Value)%> and the user deselects and checkbox and the category.Value is FALSE, the code being generated is: <input checked="checked" id="model_MarketCategories_0__Value" name="model.MarketCategories[0].Value" type="checkbox" value="true" /> <input name="model.MarketCategories[0].Value" type="hidden" value="false" /> This is wrong since the Value is False the checkbox should NOT be checked. Any ideas why this is happening?

• Drawing a clamped uniform cubic B-spline using Cairo

  I have a bunch of coordinates which are the control points of a clamped uniform cubic B-spline on the 2D plane. I would like to draw this curve using Cairo calls (in Python, using Cairo's Python bindings), but as far as I know, Cairo supports Bézier curves only. I also know that the segments of a B-spline between two control points can be drawn using Bézier curves, but I can't find the exact formulae anywhere. Given the coordinates of the control points, how can I derive the control points of the corresponding Bézier curves? Is there any efficient algorithm for that?

• Programmatically set a TaxonomyField on a list item

  The situation: I have a bunch of Terms in the Term Store and a list that uses them. A lot of the terms have not been used yet, and are not available yet in the TaxonomyHiddenList. If they are not there yet they don't have an ID, and I can not add them to a list item. There is a method GetWSSIdOfTerm on Microsoft.SharePoint.Taxonomy.TaxonomyField that's supposed to return the ID of a term for a specific site. This gives back IDs if the term has already been used and is present in the TaxonomyHiddenList, but if it's not then 0 is returned. Is there any way to programmatically add terms to the TaxonomyHiddenList or force it happening?

• ADO Entity Framework 4 to WPF Datagrid. DatagridComboBox nightmare.

  The WPF datagrid -seems- like it's going to work, but the combobox implementation does not work straight from the designer. So I'm left wandering around in the XAML randomly changing things trying to get it to work. The problems are numerous. I want to display a foreign key relationship (with drop down) instead of a bunch of numbers for a selection. It seems like it shouldn't be this hard. I can get the right values to show up (their description instead of an ID), but the table freaks out thinking that all the values have been modified. If I select a drop down, it refuses to allow me to edit anything else. I want to chalk this up as a .NET bug, but since I'm new to WPF datagrids, it's probably just me.   I have a datepicker control setup using the JQuery UI, I am also using the JQuery UI themes which provide a bunch of default icons that I want to use. The DatePicker allows for specifying a specific image, i.e.: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#DateFrom").datepicker({ showOn: 'button', buttonImageOnly: true, buttonImage: 'images/ui-icon-calendar.png' }); }); </script> To display an icon from the icon set you use something like: <span class="ui-icon ui-icon-calendar"></span> Is there an easy to integrate the two or do I just need to hack out the styles/images manually?

  I'm trying to grep through a bunch of files in nested subdirectories to look for regular expression matches; my regex requires negative lookbehind. Perl has negative lookbehind, but as far as I can tell GNU grep doesn't support negative lookbehinds. What's the easiest way to get an equivalent to GNU grep that supports negative lookbehinds? (I guess I could write my own mini-grep in Perl, but that doesn't seem like it should be necessary. My copy of the Perl Cookbook includes source for tcgrep; is that what I should use? If so, where's the latest version? Don't tell me I have to type this entire program!)

• Why does select SCOPE_IDENTITY() return a decimal instead of an integer?

  So I have a table with an identity column as the primary key, so it is an integer. So, why does SCOPE_IDENTITY() always return a decimal value instead of an int to my C# application? This is really annoying since decimal values will not implicitly convert to integers in C#, which means I now have to rewrite a bunch of stuff and have a lot of helper methods because I use SQL Server and Postgres, which Postgres does return an integer for the equivalent function.. Why does SCOPE_IDENTITY() not just return a plain integer? Are there people out there that commonly use decimal/non-identity values for primary keys?

• Database design for summarized data

  I have a new table I'm going to add to a bunch of other summarized data, basically to take some of the load off by calculating weekly avgs. My question is whether I would be better off with one model over the other. One model with days of the week as a column with an additional column for price or another model as a series of fields for the DOW each taking a price. I'd like to know which would save me in speed and/or headaches? Or at least the trade off. IE. ID OBJECT_ID MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN SOURCE OR ID OBJECT_ID DAYOFWEEK PRICE SOURCE

• How do I make UITableViewCell's ImageView a fixed size even when the image is smaller.

  I have a bunch of images I am using for cell's image views, they are all no bigger than 50x50. e.g. 40x50, 50x32, 20x37 ..... When I load the table view, the text doesn't line up because the width of the images varies. Also I would like small images to appear in the centre as opposed to on the left. • Unit testing a database connection and general questions on database-dependent code and unit testing

  Hi, If I have a method which establishes a database connection, how could this method be tested? Returning a bool in the event of a successful connection is one way, but is that the best way? From a testability method, is it best to have the connection method as one method and the method to get data back a seperate method? Also, how would I test methods which get back data from a database? I may do an assert against expected data but the actual data can change and still be the right resultset. EDIT: For the last point, to check data, if it's supposed to be a list of cars, then I can check they are real car models. Or if they are a bunch of web servers, I can have a list of existant web servers on the system, return that from the code under test, and get the test result. If the results are different, the data is the issue but the query not? THnaks

  Using C# WATIN, how do I get the value of the second occurence of a INPUT tag html element on a page? I've tried a whole bunch of things and haven't succeeded. The debugger isn't giving me any obvious way to get element[1] among the 4 that returned. • C#.NET framework 3.5 SP1: satellite assemblies and FullTrust issues when the exe is on the network.

  Hi, I'm executing my .NET app from a network share. Since framework 3.5 SP1, and as explained here: http://blogs.msdn.com/shawnfa/archive/2008/05/12/fulltrust-on-the-localintranet.aspx, the main exe and all the DLLs located in the same folder (but not subfolders) are granted with FullTrust security policy. My problem is that I have subfolders for satellite assemblies with localized strings. Namely, I have: 1) FOLDER\APP.EXE 2) FOLDER\A whole bunch of DLLs 3) FOLDER\LANGUAGE1\Satellite assemblies 4) FOLDER\LANGUAGE2\Satellite assemblies 1 and 2 are automatically granted with FullTrust. 3 and 4 are not and my application is really slow because of that. Is there a way to grant 3 & 4 FullTrust security policy at runtime, since the application running has FullTrust? If not, is there a clean way to have satellite assemblies merged into only one DLL? • Scipy interpolation on a numpy array

  I have a lookup table that is defined the following way: TR_ua1 = np.array([ [3.6, 6.5, 9.1, 11.5, 13.8], [3.9, 7.3, 10.0, 13.1, 15.9], [4.5, 9.2, 12.2, 14.8, 18.2] ]) The header row elements are (hh) <1,2,3,4,5+ The header column (inc) elements are <10000, 20000, 20001+ The user will input a value ex (1.3, 25,000) or (0.2, 50,000). Scipy.interpolate() should interpolate to determine the correct value. Currently, the only way i can do this is with a bunch of if/elifs as exemplified below. • List<T>.RemoveAll Doesn't Exist in Silverlight?

  I'm working on a Silverlight 2/3 application. I would like to use List.RemoveAll (or maybe it's IList.RemoveAll?) and specify a predicate so that I can remove a bunch of elements from a list in one sweep. It seems like this function doesn't exist in Silverlight, though. Am I missing something here? Is there an alternative approach that's equally easy? Right now, I'm manually iterating over my elements in a foreach and keeping a second list (because you can't delete while iterating), and it's quite ... cumbersome.

• Read Song Title/Artist from a live audio stream with Silverlight 4?

  I have a SL4 project that is successfully streaming a great sounding WMA audio stream from a remote location. All of the MediaElement actions are straight forward. What I want to do is read the attributes that are passed as text along with the Audio stream. For instance the encoder of the stream embeds the title of the stream, the title of the song playing and the name of the artist for the current song. How would I pick this out using Silverlight 4 and then display it in a Label to the user? It sure would be easier than writing a bunch of web services to do the same thing. Windows Media Player and WinAmp all get the information I am just not seeing it in the MediaElement object collection.

A little background: I use PowerShell on windows xp at work and I set a bunch of useful shortcuts in Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 in My Documents, trying to emulate Mac environment inspired by Ryan Bates's shortcuts I have things like: Set-Alias rsc Rails-Console function Rails-Console {Invoke-Expression "ruby script/console"} Which works just fine when in command prompt I say: rsc #it calls the proper command However this doesn't work properly Set-Alias rsg Rails-Generate function Rails-Generate {Invoke-Expression "ruby script/generate"} So when I do : rsg model User which is supposed to call ruby script/generate model User all it calls is ruby script/generate #Dumping my params So how would I properly modify my functions to take params I send to functions?   I use the maven-properties-plugin during the initialization phase to read in a bunch of properties from a properties file. I also have the jetty plugin configured to set a couple of the project properties - including those read in above - as system properties to jetty. If I run the result as mvn initialize jetty:run-war it works. If I just say mvn jetty:run-war it fails. How can I force a goal specified on the command line to run in a lifecycle that includes the initialization phase?
