  hello i am having two entities... Exam and Exam_Normal EXAM @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.IDENTITY) private Long id; private String name; private String codeName; @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) private ExamType examType; @ManyToOne private Category category; @OneToMany(mappedBy="id",cascade=CascadeType.PERSIST) @OrderBy("id") private List<Exam_Normal> exam_Normal; EXAM_NORMAL @Id private Long item; @Id @ManyToOne private Exam id; @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) private Gender gender; private Integer age_month_from; private Integer age_month_to; The problem is that if i put a list of EXAM_NORMAL at an EXAM class if i try to persist(EXAM) i get an error because it tries to persist EXAM_NORMAL first but it cant because the primary keyof EXAM is missing because it isnt persisted... Is there any way to define the order?Or i should set null the list ,persist and then set the list again ? thanks:)

  To start I'm using Ninject 1.5. I have two projects: Web project and a Class library. My DI configuration is within the Web project. Within my class library I have the following defined: public interface ICacheService<T> { string Identifier { get; } T Get(); void Set( T objectToCache, TimeSpan timeSpan ); bool Exists(); } And then a concrete class called CategoryCacheService. In my web project I bind the two: Bind( typeof( ICacheService<List<Category>> ) ).To( typeof(CategoryCacheService)).Using<SingletonBehavior>(); In my class library I have extension methods for the HtmlHelper class, for example: public static class Category { [Inject] public static ICacheService Categories { get; set; } public static string RenderCategories(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper) { var c = Categories.Get(); return string.Join(", ", c.Select(s = s.Name).ToArray()); } } I've been told that you cannot inject into static properties, instead I should use Kernel.Get<() - However... Since the code above is in a class library I don't have access to the Kernel. How can I get the Kernel from this point or is there a better way of doing this? Thanks!

• Need help/suggestions for creating fantasy sports scoring databases and queries

  I'm trying to create a website for my friends and I to keep track of fantasy sports scoring. So far, I've been doing the calculations and storage in Excel, which is very tedious. I'm trying to make it more simplified and automated through a SQL database that I can then wrap a web app around to enter daily stat updates. It's premised on our participation in another commercial site where we trade virtual shares of athletes, and thus acquire an "ownership percentage" in each athlete. For instance, if there are 100 shares of AROD, and I own 10 shares, then I own 10%. It then applies this to traditional baseball rotisserie scoring. So, for instance, if AROD has 1 HR today, then his adjusted HR stat would be 1.10. If he also has 2 RBI's, then his adjusted RBI stat today would be 2.20, based on (2 x 1.10)(1 to normalize the stat, and the .10 to represent the ownership percentage). All the stats for my team would then be summed each day and added to my stat history to come to an aggregated total. After that, points are allocated based on the ranking of each participant in each category at the end of the day. E.g. if there are 10 participants, and I have the highest total aggregate number of Adjusted HR's, then I get 10 pts. The points are then summed across the different stat categories to come up with a total point ranking for that day. An added difficulty is that ownership %'s can change on a daily basis. So far, in playing around with different schema, I don't know that having a separate table for each athlete's stats and each player's ownership %'s is the wisest choice. It seems to me that simply having two tables, one that contains the daily stat information for each athlete, and another that shows the ownership % of each player. My friend suggested using a start and end date for each ownership % to represent the potential daily changes in this category. I'm admittedly new to database development, so any suggestions on query code would be appreciated.

• Unable to write to a text file

  Hello, I am running some tests and need to write to a file. When I run the test's the open = (file, 'r+') does not write to the file. I havw also tried mylogfile.write(result). If the file does not exist is claim's the file does not exist and doesn't create one. Could this be a permission problem where python is not allowed to create a file? I have made sure that all other read's to this file are closed so I the file should not be locked. Can anyone offer any suggestion why this is happening? Thanks

• Persist data when the table was not mapped (JPA EclipseLink)

  Hi everybody I need some help in persisting data into a table that has not been mapped... The issue is that the database we have has a table which all of its columns are foreign keys so by mapping the whole database all of the tables are correctly mapped. However that table called "category" is not mapped. The way in which we can browse the data is by passing for the table I mentioned using the @jointable annotation which was set by the system in the other tables with which "category" has a relation. So we can go ahead and using the collections and perform a query. But the issue comes when I want to persist data into that table because there´s no any entity. We tried to persist through the collections but no luck. Then I have just tried by creating the entity with its PK and Facade all by hand. However when I try to persist using the Merge method the system tries to perform an Insert when it is supposed to perform an Update. So obviously it returns an error. Does anybody have an idea on this situation? Thanks.-

• Cannot override the CSS at this site

  This site is overriding my CSS with its own and I cannot get around it! It has style.css with "text-align: center" in the body. I have <div id="mydiv"> appended to the body and it's normally got "text-align: left". There are <ul>s and <li>s underneath #mydiv and they are inheriting the body's 'center' for some reason. • Utilizing a Queue

  I'm trying to store records of transactions all together and by category for the last 1, 7, 30 or 360 days. I've tried a couple things, but they've brutally failed. I had an idea of using a queue with 360 values, one for each day, but I don't know enough about queue's to figure out how that would work. Input will be an instance of this class: class Transaction { public string TotalEarned { get; set; } public string TotalHST { get; set; } public string TotalCost { get; set; } public string Category { get; set; } } New transactions can occur at any time during the day, and there could be as many as 15 transactions in a day. My program is using a plain text file as external storage, but how I load it depends on how I decide to store this data. What would be the best way to do this?

  the situation: a user on the page in question selects a category from a dropdown which then dynamically populates all the users of that category in a second dropdown beside it. all the data is being retrieved using LinqtoSQL and i was wondering if this can be done a) using html.dropdownlist in a strongly typed view? b) using jquery to trigger the ajax request on selected index change instead of a 'populate' button trigger? sorry i dont have code as what i was trying really wasnt working at all. I am having trouble with how to do it conceptually and programatically! will appreciate any links to examples etc greatly! thanks in advance! • Read huge free text docs in one file for lucene indexing

  I have heaps of free text news docs in one big file. The structure of each news doc is like: (Header line) Category, Doc1, Date (day, month, year) (body text) ... ... ... (Header line) Category, Doc2, Date (day, month, year) (body text) ... ... ... If I extract each doc from the big file, it costs too much time and not efficient. Therefore, I decide to read the file line by line and feed information to lucene the same time. I write c# code to index each doc to lucene like: Streamreader sr = new Streamreader(file); string line = ""; while((line = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { How can I tell this line is a doc header line from text line and get the metadata and all the text lines of a doc for lucene to index. Also, the text is read by OCR which can not give correct line-separating. Captions are mixed with content text iterate the process till the end of the file } with thanks

Vacation used is always applied against the oldest vacation earned amount first. We need to return the rows for Vacation Earned that have not been offset by vacation used. If vacation used has only offset part of a vacation earned record, we need to return that record showing the difference. For example, using the above table, the result set would look like: |ID|EmployeeID|Date |Category |Hours| |1 |1 |1/1/2010 |Vacation Earned|1.0 | |4 |2 |5/18/2010|Vacation Earned|1.0 | Note that record 2 was eliminated because it was completely offset by used time, but records 1 and 4 were only partially used, so they were calculated and returned as such. The only way we have thought of to do this is to get all of the vacation earned records in a temporary table. Then, get the total vacation used and loop through the temporary table, deleting the oldest record and subtracting that value from the total vacation used until the total vacation used is zero. We could clean it up for when the remaining vacation used is only part of the oldest vacation earned record. This would leave us with just the outstanding vacation earned records. This works, but it is very inefficient and performs poorly. Also, the performance will just degrade over time as more and more records are added. Are there any suggestions for a better solution, preferable set based? If not, we'll just have to go with this.

• Pass Element value to $ajax->link in cakephp

  I need to pass the value of an element to an $ajax-link without using a form/submit structure. (because I have a dynamically set number of clickable links through which I am triggering the action) I used to do this in Ruby using the Prototype javascript function $F like this: <%= link_to_remote "#{item.to_s}", :url => { :action => :add_mpc }, :with => "'category=' + $F('mpc_category')" -%> But this does not seem to work in Cakephp: <?php echo $ajax->link(substr($vehicle['vehicles']['year'], -2), array('action' => 'add_mpc', 'category' => '$F("mpc_category")'), array('update' => 'results', 'position' => 'top')); ?> PHP sees $F as a variable instead of a call to javascript. I'm not too familiar with Javascript, but is there another way to pass the value of the 'mpc_category' input element to the controller through this link? • Better way to implement custom views in a listview with simpleadapter?

  I have a value called tags which is a comma separated list of words. I want to put this into nicely designed "tag-buttons". The below works. • ggplot: showing % instead of counts in charts of categorical variables

  I'm plotting a categorical variable and instead of showing the counts for each category value, I'm looking for a way to get ggplot to display the percentage of values in that category. Of course, it is possible to create another variable with the calculated percentage and plot that one, but I have to do it several dozens of times and I hope to achieve that in one command. I was experimenting with something like qplot (mydataf) + stat_bin(aes(n=nrow(mydataf), y=..count../n)) + scale_y_continuous(formatter="percent") but I must be using it incorrectly, as I got errors. To easily reproduce the setup, here's a simplified example: mydata <- c ("aa", "bb", null, "bb", "cc", "aa", "aa", "aa", "ee", null, "cc"); mydataf <- factor(mydata); qplot (mydataf); #this shows the count, I'm looking to see % displayed. In the real case I'll probably use ggplot instead of qplot, but the right way to use stat_bin still eludes me. Thank you. UPDATE: I've also tried these four approaches: ggplot(mydataf, aes(y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent'); ggplot(mydataf, aes(y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent') + geom_bar(); ggplot(mydataf, aes(x = levels(mydataf), y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent'); ggplot(mydataf, aes(x = levels(mydataf), y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent') + geom_bar(); but all 4 give: Error: ggplot2 doesn't know how to deal with data of class factor The same error appears for the simple case of ggplot (data=mydataf, aes(levels(mydataf))) + geom_bar() so it's clearly something about how ggplot interacts with a single vector. I'm scratching my head, googling for that error gives a single result.

  Does anyone know if it's possible to sort a sharepoint list view bymore than 3 columns. • Check if previous clicked value is inside an array

  I have a list with different categories. All the list item are clickable. I want the user to pick between 1 and 3 items. They can toggle their choice, but maximum is alway 3. So far, so good. Where it get tricky for me, is that I have some special categories that can't be combined with any others. When a user click on one of these, all the other categories deselect and they can't add any other, (these item have only 1 category selection possible) Exemple: Let's say "Car" is a special category. If they click on Car, everything else deselect, Car is selected, and they can't select anything else. BUT they can click again on Car to deselect it, and from there the logic start over. What's missing in my code is the part in bold just above this. • I’m screwing up this LEFT JOIN

  I'm doing a left join on several tables. What I want to happen is that it list all the businesses. Then, it looks through the photos, videos, specials and categories. IF there are photos, then the tables shows yes, if there are videos, it shows yes in the table. It does all that without any problems. Except for one thing. For every photo, it shows the business that many times. For example, if there are 5 photos in the DB for a business, it shows the business five times. Obviously, this is not what I want to happen. • Complex Forms Generating Error

  I am working on an application that allows students to create a catalog of courses they are taking for a semester. I have created models for user; course; subject and category. Users can have many courses. Each course can have many subjects and categories. The tables for courses, subjects and categories include the following: Catalog: user_id; subject_id, category_id and course_id Courses: user_id; coursedetail_id Coursedetail: name; description Subject: name; description Category: name; description The idea is that an Admin can create a list of courses; subjects and categories and that the user can select the courses they want to add to their catalog. I have seperated courses and coursedetails because I envision that the coursedetails will grow overtime and the courses table will allow me to join the user_id and cousres details to rreport on if necessary. I attempted to follow Ryan's railscast on Complex Forms thinking that that I should use a complex form and has many relationship to get things working -- but I get an error in the catalog controller - cannot locate catalog_id which I know is in the table. I am now not sure if complex forms is the way to go or I should be looking at another direction to get the appropriate form in place. Any assistance would be appreciated.
