• Should I post my PDF library for SEO? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Do search engines crawl PDFs and if so are there any rules to follow when making them When a Sales call comes in, the caller often says something like: 'I searched for 3 days before finding your product and it's exactly what I need!' That's telling me that I need some SEO work. We redid our website and streamlined it which removed many of our 'How-To' documents. Since those PDF documents contain words that people might search for, I was wondering if I could add a 'Complete library' link to the bottom of a page that will load up the entire PDF library. Would that help my ranking?

• Why are the tags on my site using wordpress being indexed instead of the page?

  I can't figure out why my tags are being indexed by google and not my actual posts. So in google, my posts are showing up as mysite.com/tags/post and I of course I want it to look like mysite.com/category/actualpost. Any ideas what could be wrong? My domain is 3 years old and I just started a new focus of an existing site. I can't figure this out! There is no duplicate content, I have a sitemap submitted to webmaster tools and robots.txt...I have everything I need. This is the first time something like this has happened to me. Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

  I find few conflicts on people's reactions about adding noindex on paginations. What does pro webmasters has to say about this? I am planning to add noindex meta for all paginations with a hope to increase website value, so I would like some pro's feedback on this. e.g. here: http://w3tut.org/blog 3 posts' first few paragraphs are displayed and meta is taken from first post from that page, which will cause duplicate meta issue. Also, 3 posts in a page could be unrelated to each other as well. Is it a good idea to add noindex for these pages, so full article posts get more value?

  Possible Duplicate: Can an agile shop every really score 12 on the Joel Test? I really like the Joel test, use it myself, and encourage my staff and interviewees to consider it carefully. However I don't think I can ever score more than 9 because a few points seem to contradict the Agile Manifesto, XP and TDD, which are the bedrocks of my world. Specifically the questions about schedule, specs, testers and quiet working conditions run counter to what we are trying to create and the values that we have adopted in being genuinely agile. • Can't boot Ubuntu 12.10 32 or 64 Bit, only Ubuntu 12.04 32 Bit [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it? i tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 64Bit, 12.10 32 and 64Bit, but it doesn't work. I'm used the Ubuntu 12.04 32Bit Start Disc Creator and also Unetboot on Win7, the installation-process are finished and i restart without the Stick. I can choose for example 12.10 and it starts writing "start ... [OK], ...", but then it hangs most on "Stop Kernel Messages [OK]". Then i can only shutdown normal the system and it writes stopping, shutdown and something like that. I am use an Aspire One D270 Netbook with Intel Atom N2600. It also doesn't work to try Ubuntu 12.10 from running on USB Stick. It starts, but then its black and the cursor blink on the left upside. Please can you help me? :(

• Cant Install TOR on Ubuntu Netbook 10.10 [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How to install tor? I downloaded the tar.gz file from TORproject .org and unzipped it. I clicked everything inside the directories but nothing happened. I also tried to install the addon from here http://bit.ly/bSSNea . The addon is installed but I cant see the TOR button anywhere. Question: What is a good way to block a small set of blacklisted IP addresses from accessing my site?   I have a news feed where items in the feed are created from JSON returned from a server. When the user takes an action on an item, I want to remove it from the object via javascript. I am currently debating between the traditional versioning convention [major].[minor].[revision] and my own, almost whimsical, [YYYY].[MM].[DD].[hh][mm] for a new project I am starting. I understand that [major].[minor].[revision] is probably the most popular versioning method on the planet and it is indeed pretty straightforward and reasonable, except that determining which changes merit the label "major", "minor" or even "revision" could be... subjective. A versioning system based on a timestamp is purely non-subjective and guarantees uniqueness. Which one would you choose for your project and why?

• Why can't I refresh the list of packages?

  This might be a duplicate, but I can't find a solution in other posts. Whenever I try to update I get this message: ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/listspackages.medibuntu.org_dists_quantal_free_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. I have tried runnig this in the terminal: sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf sudo apt-get update It doesn't work at all. I cant even open the software sources and "sudo apt-get check" gives me this message: Reading package lists... Error! E: Encountered a section with no Package: header E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/packages.medibuntu.org_dists_quantal_free_i18n_Translation-en E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. UPDATE: solution for me was to remove the medibuntu-keyring through synaptic manager and removed mediubuntu from the software sources too manually. This seems to have solved the problem. The update manager doesnt give me any error messages anymore.

  Possible Duplicate: Should I bother supporting IE6? I'm thinking about IE6 support and when to give up on it. Do you have a percentage of total visitors figure in mind for when to drop support? Would you let a trend develop past this figure or are you just going take the first opportunity? I've seen a 44% drop in IE6 visitors in the past 12 months from 23%(ish) of visitors down to 13%(ish). Even if it was 5% it still seems too early to drop support to me (it's still 1 in every 20 users). What are people's thoughts on this?

I was reading the blog by Peter Seibel (Author of Coders at Work) where brilliant programmers like Ken Thompson, Joshua Bloch and Guy Steele have despised c++ to no end. What is it in C++ that people hate so much? And despite so much hate towards it, companies like Google are still using it, and some of the programmers who snubbed C++ have worked or are already working at Google. So, what is it in the language that despite so much hate from top programmers, it's still used at most of the places? Whenever the Button is Clicked, a confirmation dialog is displayed. What I am trying to do now, is to allow the user to enter a reason for the removal, and pass this on the the OnClick event handler.   In my website I changed the directory name "vehicles-cars" to "vehicles-cars-for-sale". When I tried to redirect using a wild card redirect from my old directory name to new directory name in my web hosting cPanel account, I get an error every time I open pages from that directory: this webpage has a redirect loop The website is php. The problem is that that I have lots of pages with the old directory indexed in Google and they are getting duplicate content. I really need some advice on what to do with this problem. Every time I install it shows a dialog box with the message, Requires Installation of Untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources. • Detecting Duplicates Using Oracle Business Rules

  Recently I was involved with a Business Process Management Proof of Concept (BPM PoC) where we wanted to show how customers could use Oracle Business Rules (OBR) to easily define some rules to detect certain conditions, such as duplicate account numbers, duplicate names, high transaction amounts, etc, in a set of transactions. Traditionally you would have to loop through the transactions and compare each transaction with each other to find matching conditions. This is not particularly nice as it relies on more traditional approaches (coding) and is not the most efficient way. OBR is a great place to house these types’ of rules as it allows users/developers to externalise the rules, in a simpler manner, externalising the rules from the message flows and allows users to change them when required. So I went ahead looking for some examples. After quite a bit of time spent Googling, I did not find much out in the blogosphere. In fact the best example was actually from...... wait for it...... Oracle Documentation! (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28271_01/user.1111/e10228/rules_start.htm#ASRUG228) However, if you followed the link there was not much explanation provided with the example. So the aim of this article is to provide a little more explanation to the example so that it can be better understood. Note: I won’t be covering the BPM parts in great detail. Use case: Payment instruction file is required to be processed. Before instruction file can be processed it needs to be approved by a business user. Before the approval process, it would be useful to run the payment instruction file through OBR to look for transactions of interest. The output of the OBR can then be used to flag the transactions for the approvers to investigate. Example BPM Process So let’s start defining the Business Rules Dictionary. For the input into our rules, we will be passing in an array of payments which contain some basic information for our demo purposes. Input to Business Rules And for our output we want to have an array of rule output messages. Note that the element I am using for the output is only for one rule message element and not an array. We will configure the Business Rules component later to return an array instead. Output from Business Rules Business Rule – Create Dictionary Fill in all the details and click OK. Open the Business Rules component and select Decision Functions from the side. Modify the Decision Function Configuration Select the decision function and click on the edit button (the pencil), don’t worry that JDeveloper indicates that there is an error with the decision function. Then click the Ouputs tab and make sure the checkbox under the List column is checked, this is to tell the Business Rules component that it should return an array of rule message elements. Updating the Decision Service Next we will define the actual rules. Click on Ruleset1 on the side and then the Create Rule in the IF/THEN Rule section. Creating new rule in ruleset Ok, this is where some detailed explanation is required. Remember that the input to this Business Rules dictionary is a list of payments, each of those payments were of the complex type PaymentType. Each of those payments in the Oracle Business Rules engine is treated as a fact in its working memory. Implemented rule So in the IF/THEN rule, the first task is to grab two PaymentType facts from the working memory and assign them to temporary variable names (payment1 and payment2 in our example). Matching facts Once we have them in the temporary variables, we can then start comparing them to each other. For our demonstration we want to find payments where the account numbers were the same but the account name was different. Suspicious payment instruction And to stop the rule from comparing the same facts to each other, over and over again, we have to include the last test. Stop rule from comparing endlessly And that’s it! No for loops, no need to keep track of what you have or have not compared, OBR handles all that for you because everything is done in its working memory. And once all the tests have been satisfied we need to assert a new fact for the output. Assert the output fact Save your Business Rules. Next step is to complete the data association in the BPM process. Pay extra care to use Copy List instead of the default Copy when doing data association at an array level. Input and output data association Deploy and test. Test data Rule matched Parting words: Ideally you would then use the output of the Business Rules component to then display/flag the transactions which triggered the rule so that the approver can investigate. When creating a large(ish) site, page titles usually reference both the site name and the current page name. However, it seems there are two main conventions: Bob's Awesome Site - Contact Page and Contact Page - Bob's Awesome Site I've looked around, and pages usually use one of the two variants above. Is there any reason to use one over the other? SEO/readability/usability/etc?
