  • WCF net.tcp windows service - call duration and calls outstanding increases over time

    - by Brook
I have a windows service which uses the ServiceHost class to host a WCF Service using the net.tcp binding. I have done some tweaking to the config to throttle sessions as well as number of connections, but it seems that every once in a while my "Calls outstanding" and "Call duration" shoot up and stay up in perfmon. It seems to me I have a leak somewhere, but the code I have is all fairly minimal, I'm relying on ServiceHost to handle the details. Here's how I start my service ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost(type); host.Faulted+=new EventHandler(Faulted); host.Open(); My Faulted event just does the following (more or less, logging etc removed) if (host.State == CommunicationState.Faulted) { host.Abort(); } else { host.Close(); } host = new ServiceHost(type); host.Faulted+=new EventHandler(Faulted); host.Open(); Here's some snippets from my app.config to show some of the things I've tried <runtime> <gcConcurrent enabled="true" /> <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false" /> </runtime> ......... <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="Throttled"> <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="300" maxConcurrentSessions="300" maxConcurrentInstances="300" /> .......... <services> <service name="MyService" behaviorConfiguration="Throttled"> <endpoint address="net.tcp://localhost:49001/MyService" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="Tcp" contract="IMyService"> </endpoint> </service> </services> .......... <netTcpBinding> <binding name="Tcp" openTimeout="00:00:10" closeTimeout="00:00:10" portSharingEnabled="true" receiveTimeout="00:5:00" sendTimeout="00:5:00" hostNameComparisonMode="WeakWildcard" listenBacklog="1000" maxConnections="1000"> <reliableSession enabled="false"/> <security mode="None"/> </binding> </netTcpBinding> .......... <!--for my diagnostics--> <diagnostics performanceCounters="ServiceOnly" wmiProviderEnabled="true" /> There's obviously some resource getting tied up, but I thought I covered everything with my config. I'm only getting about ~150 clients so I don't think I'm coming up against my "300" limit. "Calls per second" stays constant at anywhere from 2-5 calls per second. The service will run for hours and hours with 0-2 "calls outstanding" and very low "call duration" and then eventually it will shoot up to 30 calls oustanding and 20s call duration. Any tips on what might be causing my "calls outstanding" and "call duration" to spike? Where am I leaking? Point me in the right direction?

  • How to call virtual function of an object in C++

    - by SoonDead
I'm struggling with calling a virtual function in C++. I'm not experienced in C++, I mainly use C# and Java so I might have some delusions, but bear with me. I have to write a program where I have to avoid dynamic memory allocation if possible. I have made a class called List: template <class T> class List { public: T items[maxListLength]; int length; List() { length = 0; } T get(int i) const { if (i >= 0 && i < length) { return items[i]; } else { throw "Out of range!"; } }; // set the value of an already existing element void set(int i, T p) { if (i >= 0 && i < length) { items[i] = p; } else { throw "Out of range!"; } } // returns the index of the element int add(T p) { if (length >= maxListLength) { throw "Too many points!"; } items[length] = p; return length++; } // removes and returns the last element; T pop() { if (length > 0) { return items[--length]; } else { throw "There is no element to remove!"; } } }; It just makes an array of the given type, and manages the length of it. There is no need for dynamic memory allocation, I can just write: List<Object> objects; MyObject obj; objects.add(obj); MyObject inherits form Object. Object has a virtual function which is supposed to be overridden in MyObject: struct Object { virtual float method(const Input& input) { return 0.0f; } }; struct MyObject: public Object { virtual float method(const Input& input) { return 1.0f; } }; I get the elements as: objects.get(0).method(asdf); The problem is that even though the first element is a MyObject, the Object's method function is called. I'm guessing there is something wrong with storing the object in an array of Objects without dynamically allocating memory for the MyObject, but I'm not sure. Is there a way to call MyObject's method function? How? It's supposed to be a heterogeneous collection btw, so that's why the inheritance is there in the first place. If there is no way to call the MyObject's method function, then how should I make my list in the first place?

  • function (blurClass) NOT WORKING IN IE

    - by Erik
I can't get this plugin to function properly in IE.... Check out my homepage and look at the huge search field toward the top... www.naturalskin.com Whenever I refresh the screen the "blur" looses its function and I'm stuck with text..... Here is the script that I place in an external js page: http://www.naturalskin.com/src/js/javascript/batches.js jQuery.fn.hint = function (blurClass) { if (!blurClass) { blurClass = 'blur'; } return this.each(function () { // get jQuery version of 'this' var $input = jQuery(this), // capture the rest of the variable to allow for reuse title = $input.attr('title'), $form = jQuery(this.form), $win = jQuery(window); function remove() { if ($input.val() === title && $input.hasClass(blurClass)) { $input.val('').removeClass(blurClass); } } // only apply logic if the element has the attribute if (title) { // on blur, set value to title attr if text is blank $input.blur(function () { if (this.value === '') { $input.val(title).addClass(blurClass); } }).focus(remove).blur(); // now change all inputs to title // clear the pre-defined text when form is submitted $form.submit(remove); $win.unload(remove); // handles Firefox's autocomplete } }); }; Erik

  • Malloc inside another function (ANSI C)

    - by Casper
Hi I'll go straight to it. I'm working on an assignment, where I suddenly ran into trouble. I have to allocate a struct from within another function, obviously using pointers. I've been staring at this problem for hours and tried in a million different ways to solve it. This is some sample code (very simplified): ... some_struct s; printf("Before: %d\n", &s"); allocate(&s); printf("After: %d\n", &s"); ... /* The allocation function */ int allocate(some_struct *arg) { arg = malloc(sizeof(some_struct)); printf("In function: %d\n", &arg"); return 0; } This does give me the same address before and after the allocate-call: Before: -1079752900 In function: -1079752928 After: -1079752900 I know it's probably because it makes a copy in the function, but I don't know how to actually work on the pointer I gave as argument. I tried defining some_struct *s instead of some_struct s, but no luck. I tried with: int allocate(some_struct **arg) which works just fine (the allocate-function needs to be changed as well), BUT according to the assignment I may NOT change the declaration, and it HAS to be *arg.. And it would be most correct if I just have to declare some_struct s.. Not some_struct *s. I hope I make sense and some of you out there can help me :P Thanks in advice

  • javascript variable evaluation in function

    - by lamerzpua
I trying to use simile widget for own need but I'm stuck on such problem. I have loop for (i=0;i<15;i++){ Timeline.loadXML(function_that_return_url(), function(xml, url) { eventSource[i].loadXML(xml, url); }); } This code is for Timeline.loadXML: Timeline.loadXML = function(url, f) { var fError = function(statusText, status, xmlhttp) { alert("Failed to load data xml from " + url + "\n" + statusText); }; var fDone = function(xmlhttp) { var xml = xmlhttp.responseXML; if (!xml.documentElement && xmlhttp.responseStream) { xml.load(xmlhttp.responseStream); } f(xml, url); }; SimileAjax.XmlHttp.get(url, fError, fDone);}; When I open the page - my function function(xml, url) { eventSource[i].loadXML(xml, url); }); is passed to loadXML method which use it inside as f(xml, url); Problem is that i variable is not parsed as number and I receive message that eventSource[...] is not declared. How I can evaluate i values before it will be posted as argument for the method LoadXML ?

  • Help porting javascript function to jQuery - learning tool

    - by chibineku
I am just learning jQuery and I wanted to see what I could do with the function below. This function adds or removes css classes to create a pull down menu (it is in fact Stu Nicholl's well known pull down menu). But I'm not getting very far (I've been learning jQuery for approximately an hoour now, so my DOM traversal isn't quite up there yet). I am curious to see how neat and elegant it can become using jQuery, and thought I'd see what you guys could come up with. Here is the existing function: var getEls = document.getElementById("menu").getElementsByTagName("LI"); var getAgn = getEls; for (var i=0; i<getEls.length; i++) { getEls[i].onclick=function() { for (var x=0; x<getAgn.length; x++) { getAgn[x].className=getAgn[x].className.replace("unclick", ""); getAgn[x].className=getAgn[x].className.replace("click", "unclick"); } if ((this.className.indexOf('unclick'))!=-1) { this.className=this.className.replace("unclick", "");; } else { this.className+=" click"; } } } } My first failure started like this: $(document).ready(function() { $('#menu > li').click(function() { $('#menu >li > ul').toggleClass('unclick'); }); }); That works as far as it goes, but the next bit proved tricky. So, if anyone feels like having a go, please be my guest :)

  • Calling jquery function from ascx not working

    - by Metju
Hi Guys, I'm having a problem with the following situation. I have an ascx which contains a submit button for a search criteria and I am trying to call a validation function in a js file I've used throughout the site (this is the first time I'm using it in an ascx). Now I've just tried this: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jsAdmin_Generic_SystemValidation.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $(".submitBtn").click(function (e) { alert("test"); alert($.Validate()); alert("test 2"); }); }); </script> The file is being referenced correctly as I am already seeing posts in Firebug that are done by it. This is the function: jQuery.extend({ Validate: function () { does validation... }); Now at first I was getting "Validate() is not a function" in firebug. Since I did that alert testing, I am getting the first alert, then nothing with no errors. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks

  • Streamlining my javascript with a function

    - by liz
i have a series of select lists, that i am using to populate text boxes with ids. so you click a select option and another text box is filled with its id. with just one select/id pair this works fine, but i have multiples, and the only thing that changes is the id of the select and input.. in fact just the ending changes, the inputs all start with featredproductid and the select ids all start with recipesproduct and then both end with the category. i know that listing this over and over for each category is not the way to do it. i think i need to make an array of the categories var cats = ['olive oil', "grains", "pasta"] and then use a forEach function? maybe? here is the clunky code window.addEvent('domready', function() { $('recipesproductoliveoil').addEvent('change', function(e){ pidselected = this.options[this.selectedIndex].getProperty('value') ; $("featuredproductidoliveoil").setProperties({ value: pidselected}); ; }); $('recipesproductgrains').addEvent('change', function(e){ pidselected = this.options[this.selectedIndex].getProperty('value') ; $("featuredproductidgrains").setProperties({ value: pidselected}); ; }); $('recipesproductpasta').addEvent('change', function(e){ pidselected = this.options[this.selectedIndex].getProperty('value') ; $("featuredproductidpasta").setProperties({ value: pidselected}); ; }); $('recipesproductpantry').addEvent('change', function(e){ pidselected = this.options[this.selectedIndex].getProperty('value') ; $("featuredproductidpantry").setProperties({ value: pidselected}); ; }); }); keep in mind this is mootools 1.1 (no i cant update it sorry). i am sure this is kind of basic, something i seem to have wrapping my brain around. but i am quite sure doing it as above is not really good...

    after i spent 2 day searching a preload function in jQueryi with no succes, i manage to do this: after i upload the image on server, in a list i get this: <li id="upimagesDYGONI"> <div class="percentage">100%</div> <div class="uploadifyProgress"> <div align=" center" class="uploadifyProgressBar" id="upimagesDYGONIProgressBar" style="width: 100%;"> <!--Progress Bar--> </div> </div> </li> with this function, i preload the image: $.getlastimage = function(id) { $.getJSON('operations.php', {'operation':'getli', 'id':id,}, function(lastimg){ $("#upimages" + id + " .percentage").text('processing'); $("#upimages" + id).append('<a href=""><img id="' + id + '" src="" alt="" /></a>') .parent().attr({"href":"uploads/"+ lastimg +'?'+ (new Date()).getTime()}); $("#"+id).hide().attr({"src":"uploads/"+ lastimg +'?'+ (new Date()).getTime(), "alt":lastimg}) .load(function() { $(this).show(); $("#upimages" + id + " .percentage").remove(); $("#upimages" + id + " .uploadifyProgress").remove(); }); }); } })(jQuery) and i get this: <li id="upimagesLRBHYN" style="" class=""> <a href="uploads/0002.jpg?1271901177027"> <img alt="0002.jpg" src="uploads/0002.jpg?1271901177028" id="LRBHYN" style="display: block;"> </a> </li> how i can simplify the function? i want to use the full power of jQuery!! any idea?

  • How to pass Event as a parameter in JQuery function

    - by Manas Saha
Hi I am learning JQuery and I have written a small function where I am attaching a function with a button's click event. this is the head element of the HTML <script type="text/javascript"> $(pageLoaded); function pageLoaded() { $("#Button1").bind("click", { key1: "value1", key2: "value2" }, function buttonClick(event) { $("#displayArea").text(event.data.key1); } ); } </script> This is the body of the HTML <input id="Button1" type="button" value="button" /> <div id = "displayArea" style="border:2px solid black; width:300px; height:200px"> This code works fine. But when I try to write the buttonClick function outside the anonymus method, it does not work anymore. I tried to call it this way: $("#Button1").bind("click", { key1: "value1", key2: "value2" }, buttonClick(event)); function buttonClick(var event) { $("#displayArea").text(event.data.key1); } This is not working. Am I doing some mistake while passing the Event as parameter? what is the correct way to do it without using anonymous methods?

  • Pulling a value from one jQuery function into another

    - by Travis
I'm trying to take the hex value chosen from a jQuery colorpicker plugin, and store it as a cookie using the jQuery cookie plugin. I just don't know the appropriate way to tie the two together (new to js and jQuery). Here's my colorpicker function: $('#colorSelector').ColorPicker({ color: '#ffffff', onShow: function (colpkr) { $(colpkr).fadeIn(500); return false; }, onHide: function (colpkr) { $(colpkr).fadeOut(500); return false; }, onChange: function (hsb, hex, rgb) { $('#colorSelector div, .preview-image, .cover ').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); $('body').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); $.cookie('bgColor', 'picker'); return false; } }); And here's my cookie function as is: var bgColor = $.cookie('bgColor'); if (bgColor == 'picker') { $('#colorSelector div, .preview-image, .cover ').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); }; I can set and store the cookie value as a standard css background-color, but can't figure out how to pull the "'backgroundColor', '#' + hex" value into the cookie function.

  • Set a callback function to a new window in javascript

    - by SztupY
Is there an easy way to set a "callback" function to a new window that is opened in javascript? I'd like to run a function of the parent from the new window, but I want the parent to be able to set the name of this particular function (so it shouldn't be hardcoded in the new windows page). For example in the parent I have: function DoSomething { alert('Something'); } ... <input type="button" onClick="OpenNewWindow(linktonewwindow,DoSomething);" /> And in the child window I want to: <input type="button" onClick="RunCallbackFunction();" /> The question is how to create this OpenNewWindow and RunCallbackFunction functions. I though about sending the function's name as a query parameter to the new window (where the server side script generates the appropriate function calls in the generated child's HTML), which works, but I was thinking whether there is another, or better way to accomplish this, maybe something that doesn't even require server side tinkering. Pure javascript, server side solutions and jQuery (or other frameworks) are all welcomed.

  • How to get the Entire Function from a file

    - by SoLoGHoST
Ok, I'm reading through a file now, line by line. I know each functions name in the file, since it is defined elsewhere in an XML document. That is what should be this: function function_name Where function_name is the name of the function. I get all of the function definitions from an XML document that I already have put into an array of function names, and I need to grab just those functions from the php file. And rebuild that php file so that it only has those functions in it. That is to say, if a php file has more functions than what is defined in the XML tag, than I need to strip out those functions, and rewrite the .php file with only the functions that the user specified in the XML file. So, the dilemma I face is how to determine the END of a function reading line by line, and I'm aware that functions can have function within them. So I don't want to remove the functions within them. Just functions that are standalone and aren't defined within the accompanying XML file. Any ideas on how to do this?? Thanks :)

  • Haskell quiz: a simple function

    - by levy
I'm not a Haskell programmer, but I'm curious about the following questions. Informal function specification: Let MapProduct be a function that takes a function called F and multiple lists. It returns a list containing the results of calling F with one argument from each list in each possible combination. Example: Call MapProduct with F being a function that simply returns a list of its arguments, and two lists. One of the lists contains the integers 1 and 2, the other one contains the strings "a" and "b". It should return a list that contains the lists: 1 and "a", 1 and "b", 2 and "a", 2 and "b". Questions: How is MapProduct implemented? What is the function's type? What is F's type? Can one guess what the function does just by looking at its type? Can you handle inhomogeneous lists as input? (e.g. 1 and "a" in one of the input lists) What extra limitation (if any) do you need to introduce to implement MapProduct?

  • Form iteration function not working properly

    - by Moses
    My function is supposed to iterate all forms in the document, and bind an onclick function to each 'calculate' element int he form. The problem is, the function that executes on any of the click events executes in the context of the the last i in the loop. Here is the JavaScript that I'm using: window.onload = function(){ calculateSavings(); } function calculateSavings(){ for (i = 0; i < document.forms.length; i++) { var e = document.forms[i]; e.calculate.onclick = function() { var hours = e.hours.value; var rate = e.rate.value; alert(hours * rate); } } } And here is the HTML it is attached to: <!doctype html> <html> <body> <form> <label for="hours">Hours: </label><input type="text" id="hours" name="hours"> <label for="rate">Rate: </label><input type="text" id="rate" name="rate"> <input type="button" name="calculate" value="Calculate"> <div id="savings"></div> </form> <form> <label for="hours">Hours: </label><input type="text" id="hours" name="hours"> <label for="rate">Rate: </label><input type="text" id="rate" name="rate"> <input type="button" name="calculate" value="Calculate"> <div id="savings"></div> </form> </body> </html> I'm sure this is a really basic question but the solution is completely eluding me at this point.

Any suggestion...

  • What goes into main function?

    - by Woltan
I am looking for a best practice tip of what goes into the main function of a program using c++. Currently I think two approaches are possible. (Although the "margins" of those approaches can be arbitrarily close to each other) 1: Write a "Master"-class that receives the parameters passed to the main function and handle the complete program in that "Master"-class (Of course you also make use of other classes). Therefore the main function would be reduced to a minimum of lines. #include "MasterClass.h" int main(int args, char* argv[]) { MasterClass MC(args, argv); } 2: Write the "complete" program in the main function making use of user defined objects of course! However there are also global functions involved and the main function can get somewhat large. I am looking for some general guidelines of how to write the main function of a program in c++. I came across this issue by trying to write some unit test for the first approach, which is a little difficult since most of the methods are private. Thx in advance for any help, suggestion, link, ...

  • Returning two or more values from a function

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
I need to return multiple values from a ColdFusion function in an ajax callback function. Here's what I've got: $('input[name="StateName"]').live('change', function() { var StateID = $(this).parents('tr').attr('id'); var StateName = $(this).val(); $.ajax({ url: 'Remote/State.cfc' ,type: "POST" ,data: { 'method': 'UpdateStateName' ,'StateID': StateID ,'StateName': StateName } ,success: function(result){ if (isNaN(result)) { $('#msg').text(result).addClass('err'); } else { $('#' + result + ' input[name="StateName"]').addClass('changed'); }; } ,error: function(msg){ $('#msg').text('Connection error').addClass('err'); } }); }); If I trap a database error, then the success callback is fired, and the result is Not a Number (It is in fact, the text of the error message). I need the function to also pass back other values. One might be the primary key of the row that caused the error. Another might be the old StateName, so that I can refresh the old value on the screen so that the client will know absolutely for sure that their change did not take effect. I guess I'm breaking the rule of atomicity here and need to fix that, because I'm using result as both the primary key of the row that was updated, or it's the error message if the update fails. I need to return both the primary key and the error message.

  • how to execute any function in jquery after few seconds on the click of any link

    - by james Bond
I have struts2 jquery grid where on click of a row I am calling a jQuery function for performating a struts2 action. My code is running fine. I want to perform my jQuery function after delay of a few seconds. How can I do this? <script type="text/javascript"> //assume this code is working fine on rowselect from my jquery grid, New Updation in it is "i want to execute or load the url after few seconds" $(function(){ $.subscribe('rowselect', function(event, data) { var param = (event.originalEvent.id); $("#myAdvanceDivBoxx").load('<s:url action='InsertbooksToSession' namespace='/admin/setups/secure/jspHomepage/bookstransaction'/>'+"?bid="+event.originalEvent.id); }); }); </script> What i tried is the below code but am unable to get the output which i am looking for: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ $.subscribe('rowselect', function(event, data) { var param = (event.originalEvent.id); $("#myAdvanceDivBoxx").load('<s:url action='InsertbooksToSession' namespace='/admin/setups/secure/jspHomepage/bookstransaction'/>'+"?bid="+event.originalEvent.id); }).delay(9000); }); </script>

  • Jquery passing an HTML element into a function

    - by christian
I have an HTML form where I am going to copy values from a series of input fields to some spans/headings as the user populates the input fields. I am able to get this working using the following code: $('#source').keyup(function(){ if($("#source").val().length == 0){ $("#destinationTitle").text('Sample Title'); }else{ $("#destinationTitle").text($("#source").val()); } }); In the above scenario the html is something like: Sample Title Basically, as the users fills out the source box, the text of the is changed to the value of the source input. If nothing is input in, or the user deletes the values typed into the box some default text is placed in the instead. Pretty straightforward. However, since I need to make this work for many different fields, it makes sense to turn this into a generic function and then bind that function to each 's onkeyup() event. But I am having some trouble with this. My implementation: function doStuff(source, target, defaultValue) { if($(source).val().length == 0){ $(target).text(defaultValue); }else{ $(target).text($(source).val()); } } which is called as follows: $('#source').keyup(function() { doStuff(this, '"#destinationTitle"', 'SampleTitle'); }); What I can't figure out is how to pass the second parameter, the name of the destination html element into the function. I have no problem passing in the element I'm binding to via "this", but can't figure out the destination element syntax. Any help would be appreciated - many thanks!

  • calling same function on different buttons not loaded yet

    - by Jordan Faust
I can not get this to work for every button and I cannot find anything explaining why. I guessing it is something small that I am missing $(document).ready(function() { // delete the selected row from the database $(document).on('click', '#business-area-delete-button', { model: "BusinessArea" }, deleteRow); $(document).on('click', '#business-type-delete-button', { model: "BusinessType" }, deleteRow); $(document).on('click', '#client-delete-button', { model: "Client" }, deleteRow); $(document).on('click', '#client-type-delete-button', { model: "ClientType" }, deleteRow); $(document).on('click', '#communication-channel-type', { model: "CommunicationChannelType" }, deleteRow); $(document).on('click', '#parameter-type-delete-button', { model: "ParameterType" }, deleteRow); $(document).on('click', '#validation-method-delete-button', { model: "ValidationMethod" }, deleteRow); } the event function deleteRow(event){ $.ajax( { type:'POST', data: { id: $(".delete-row").attr("id") }, url:"/mysite/admin/delete" + event.data.model, success:function(data, textStatus){ $('#main-content').html(data); }, error:function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown){ jQuery('#alerts').html(XMLHttpRequest.responseText); }, complete:function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus){ placeAlerts() } } ); return false }; This works only for a the button with id validation-method-delete-button. I use document and not the button its self because the button is contained in a template that is loaded later via ajax. I have this working for a similar function that is selecting a row in a table however I am not attempting to pass data in that scenario.
