  • jQuery DatePicker - How to highlight certain days every month?

    - by Sergio
    Hi I have a jquery datepicker which is renders the current date by default as a full calendar. Before this is rendered I get a list of days from the server via ajax of days that need to be highlighted for the current month. The code for this is as follows: $.get("Note/GetActionDates/?orgID=" + orgID + "&month=" + month +"&year=" + year, null, function(result) { RenderCalendar(result); }, "json"); function RenderCalendar(dates) { $("#actionCal").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yy', beforeShowDay: function(thedate) { var theday = thedate.getDate(); if ($.inArray(theday, dates) == -1) { return [true, "", ""]; } else { return [true, "specialDate", "Actions Today"]; } } }); } This is all good, but I would like the highlighted dates to update when the user clicks to a different month. I can modify the jquery datepicker initialise code with the following code: onChangeMonthYear: function(year, month, inst) { //get new array of dates for that month $.get("Note/GetActionDates/?orgID=" + orgID + "&month=" + month + "&year=" + year, null, function(result) { RenderCalendar(result); }, "json"); } But this doesn't seem to work. Could anyone show me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! :) UPDATE - Working Code Thanks for the help! I have tweaked the code from petersendidit as follows and it now works. Gonna add a little more code to remove duplicate dates from the dates array but aside from that its all good. $("#actionCal").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yyyy', beforeShowDay: function(thedate) { var theday = thedate.getDate() + "/" + (thedate.getMonth() + 1) + "/" + thedate.getFullYear(); if ($.inArray(theday, actionCalDates) == -1) { return [true, "", ""]; } else { return [true, "specialDate", "Actions Today"]; } }, onChangeMonthYear: function(year, month, inst) { dateCount = 0; getDates(orgID, month, year); } }); function getDates(orgID, month, year) { dateCount += 1; if (dateCount < 4) { $.ajax({ url: "Note/GetActionDates/", data: { 'orgID': orgID, 'month': month, 'year': year }, type: "GET", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { actionCalDates = actionCalDates.concat(result); getDates(orgID, month + 1, year); getDates(orgID, month - 1, year); } }); } }

  • How to load an ajax (jquery) request response progressively without waiting for it to finish?

    - by Sebastian
    I want to make a form that will use jquery to submit a list of keyword to a php file, this file could take a lot of time to load depending on the size of the keywords list. What I want to do is to load the php response into a div or container in real time without using iframes. All the ajax request I know have to wait until the request has finished before having access to the response, I need to get access to that response even when it hasn't finished so I can update the progress in real time.

  • jQuery Tooltip widget well-suited to use with an IMAGE-MAP? suggestions/recommendations please

    - by Tim
    I would like to display different tooltip content for each of the areas defined in an image-map. Are there any jQuery plug-ins that have an API well-suited to use with image-maps? I would like it also be be flexible with regard to where the tooltip content comes from, e.g. the content might be contained in an anchor element of an invisible iframe or it might come from a database. Thanks

  • How do I disable "eager" validation entirely using jquery validate ?

    - by Kevin J
    Is there a way to disable "eager" validation using the jquery.validate plugin? Either through an option in the script or as a hack? "Eager" validation kicks in once the form has been validated once - after that, invalid fields are validated onfocusout. I want to disable this behavior, and change my forms to only be validated when the submit button is pressed. I don't mind hacking through the validate script itself also, so if that's what the solution requires that's acceptable.

  • How Do I Create Expand All and Collapse All Links Outside of the jQuery Treeview Plugin?

    - by Ben Griswold
    The jQuery Treeview Plugin adds Collapse All, Expand All and Toggle All links to the "treeviewcontrol" div when the control property is defined as follows: $("#black, #gray").treeview({ control: "#treecontrol", persist: "cookie", cookieId: "treeview-black" }); This works great, but I'd like the ability to expand and collapse the treeview from other page elements outside of the treeview itself. I've looked at the source, but I can't figure it out.

  • Is there way to extend jQuery to handle a custom enter key event?

    - by Ken
    I write the following code all the time to handle when the enter key pressed: $("#selectorid").keypress(function (e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { var targetType = e.originalTarget ? e.originalTarget.type.toLowerCase() : e.srcElement.tagName.toLowerCase(); if (targetType != "textarea") { e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); // code to handler enter key pressed } } }); Is there a way to extend jQuery so that I could just write: $("#selectorid").enterKeyPress(fn);

  • Is there a jQuery plugin for error messages at top like Twitter?

    - by sami
    I'm looking for a jquery plugin that would create an errors div like what twitter has. The div gets added by the plugin, it stays hidden while it doesn't have content, then when a message gets added to it, it appears at the top (with either a close button option or automatic disappear after an x number of seconds). It's not too difficult to write, but there would be no reason to write it if it's already been done before. Anyone knows of a plugin like that?

  • How do I display a jquery dialog box before the entire page is loaded?

    - by obarshay
    On my site a number of operations can take a long time to complete. When I know a page will take a while to load, I would like to display a progress indicator while the page is loading. Ideally I would like to say something along the lines of: $("#dialog").show("progress.php"); and have that overlay on top of the page that is being loaded (disappearing after the operation is completed). Coding the progress bar and displaying progress is not an issue, the issue is getting a progress indicator to pop up WHILE the page is being loaded. I have been trying to use JQuery's dialogs for this but they only appear after the page is already loaded. This has to be a common problem but I am not familiar enough with JavaScript to know the best way to do this. Here's simple example to illustrate the problem. The code below fails to display the dialog box before the 20 second pause is up. I have tried in Chrome and Firefox. In fact I don't even see the "Please Wait..." text. Here's the code I am using: <html> <head> <link type="text/css" href="http://jqueryui.com/latest/themes/base/ui.all.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jqueryui.com/latest/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jqueryui.com/latest/ui/ui.core.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jqueryui.com/latest/ui/ui.dialog.js"></script> </head> <body> <div id="please-wait">My Dialog</div> <script type="text/javascript"> $("#please-wait").dialog(); </script> <?php flush(); echo "Waiting..."; sleep(20); ?> </body> </html>

    I'd like to use css pseudo-selectors ( parent > child, element:first-child ) in my stylesheet but IE6 doesn't seem to recognize those. Is there any plugin (jQuery preferably) that would allow me to use pseudo-selectors freely without worrying about the damned IE6? Thanks

  • asp.net mvc & jquery dialog: What approach do I take to add items to a dropdownlist/select list with

    - by Mark Redman
    Hi, I am new to MVC and have a grasp of the basic model, but still doing everything with postbacks etc. One aspect of the UI I want to build is to have a drop-down-list of items with a button to add an item to the database and refresh the list. Achieving this with WebForms was straight forward as everything was wrapped in UpdatePanels, but what is the best approach to achieve this using MVC? Part of the markup for the list and button look like this: <table> <tr> <td><%=Html.DropDownList("JobTitleSelectList", Model.JobTitleSelectList, "(select job title)", new { @class = "data-entry-field" })%></td> <td>&nbsp;</td> <td><a id="AddJobTitleDialogLink" href="javascript: addJobTitleDialog();" title="Add Job Title"><img id="AddJobTitleButtonImage" src="/Content/Images/Icons/16x16/PlusGrey.png" border="0" /></a></td> </tr> </table> The Dialog is a standard jquery Ui dialog, looks like this: <div id="SingleTextEntryDialog" style="display:none"> <table> <tr> <td>Name:</td> <td><input id="SingleTextEntryDialogText" type="text" size="25" /></td> </tr> </table> </div> I am guessing I need to put this into a UserControl / PartialView (are they the same thing?) Also with the strongly typed View how do I pass the Model or just the SelectList Property to the UserControl or is this not the case? Nor sure if there should be form in the dialog div? or how that is going to postback via ajax. Some examples show a lot of ajax code in the page something like: $.ajax({...}); I assume doing this using jquery is more code than asp.net webforms, but there is just more code to see doing a "View Source" on a page? Your comments appreciated.

  • If a jQuery function calls itself in its completion callback, is that a recursive danger to the stac

    - by NXT
    Hi, I'm writing a little jQuery component that animates in response to button presses and also should go automatically as well. I was just wondering if this function recursive or not, I can't quite work it out. function animate_next_internal() { $('#sc_thumbnails').animate( { top: '-=106' }, 500, function() { animate_next_internal(); } ); } My actual function is more complicated to allow for stops and starts, this is just a simplified example.

  • html5 uploader + jquery drag & drop: how to store file data with FormData?

    - by lauthiamkok
    I am making a html5 drag and drop uploader with jquery, below is my code so far, the problem is that I get an empty array without any data. Is this line incorrect to store the file data - fd.append('file', $thisfile);? $('#div').on( 'dragover', function(e) { e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); } ); $('#div').on( 'dragenter', function(e) { e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); } ); $('#div').on( 'drop', function(e){ if(e.originalEvent.dataTransfer){ if(e.originalEvent.dataTransfer.files.length) { e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); // The file list. var fileList = e.originalEvent.dataTransfer.files; //console.log(fileList); // Loop the ajax post. for (var i = 0; i < fileList.length; i++) { var $thisfile = fileList[i]; console.log($thisfile); // HTML5 form data object. var fd = new FormData(); //console.log(fd); fd.append('file', $thisfile); /* var file = {name: fileList[i].name, type: fileList[i].type, size:fileList[i].size}; $.each(file, function(key, value) { fd.append('file['+key+']', value); }) */ $.ajax({ url: "upload.php", type: "POST", data: fd, processData: false, contentType: false, success: function(response) { // .. do something }, error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorMessage) { console.log(errorMessage); // Optional } }); } /*UPLOAD FILES HERE*/ upload(e.originalEvent.dataTransfer.files); } } } ); function upload(files){ console.log('Upload '+files.length+' File(s).'); }; then if I use another method is that to make the file data into an array inside the jquery code, var file = {name: fileList[i].name, type: fileList[i].type, size:fileList[i].size}; $.each(file, function(key, value) { fd.append('file['+key+']', value); }); but where is the tmp_name data inside e.originalEvent.dataTransfer.files[i]? php, print_r($_POST); $uploaddir = './uploads/'; $file = $uploaddir . basename($_POST['file']['name']); if (move_uploaded_file($_POST['file']['tmp_name'], $file)) { echo "success"; } else { echo "error"; } as you can see that tmp_name is needed to upload the file via php... html, <div id="div">Drop here</div>

  • How do I connect multiple sortable lists to each other in jQuery UI?

    - by Abs
    I'm new to jQuery, and I'm totally struggling with using jQuery UI's sortable. I'm trying to put together a page to facilitate grouping and ordering of items. My page has a list of groups, and each group contains a list of items. I want to allow users to be able to do the following: 1. Reorder the groups 2. Reorder the items within the groups 3. Move the items between the groups The first two requirements are no problem. I'm able to sort them just fine. The problem comes in with the third requirement. I just can't connect those lists to each other. Some code might help. Here's the markup. <ul id="groupsList" class="groupsList"> <li id="group1" class="group">Group 1 <ul id="groupItems1" class="itemsList"> <li id="item1-1" class="item">Item 1.1</li> <li id="item1-2" class="item">Item 1.2</li> </ul> </li> <li id="group2" class="group">Group 2 <ul id="groupItems2" class="itemsList"> <li id="item2-1" class="item">Item 2.1</li> <li id="item2-2" class="item">Item 2.2</li> </ul> </li> <li id="group3" class="group">Group 3 <ul id="groupItems3" class="itemsList"> <li id="item3-1" class="item">Item 3.1</li> <li id="item3-2" class="item">Item 3.2</li> </ul> </li> </ul> I was able to sort the lists by putting $('#groupsList').sortable({}); and $('.itemsList').sortable({}); in the document ready function. I tried using the connectWith option for sortable to make it work, but I failed spectacularly. What I'd like to do is have the every groupItemsX list connected to every groupItemsX list but itself. How should I do that?

  • jQuery: How to hide all HTML elements which have a value greater than a certain value for a given ta

    - by Ankur
    I display elements in a hierarchy, clicking one displays the next set of elements in the hirearchy. Each element has a tag called "level" which has some value which is 1-.... (whatever the number of levels is for that branch of the tree). When an element is clicked I want the next elements to be displayed, but if an element is clicked and it's subelements have already been displayed I want to hide all subelements. More formally: when an element with level = x is clicked if no elements with level x are displayed then display all elements such that level = x+1 but if some elements with level x are displayed then hide all elements where level x How would I create a jQuery selector that captures this.

  • jQuery sortable: Revert changes if update callback makes an AJAX call that fails?

    - by Seth Petry-Johnson
    I am using the jQuery sortable() feature to re-order a list of items. After an item is drug to a new location, I kick off an AJAX form post to the server to save the new order. How can I undo the sort (e.g. return the drug item to its original position in the list) if I receive an error message from the server? Basically, I only want the re-order to "stick" if the server confirms that the changes were saved.

  • How do I remove descendant elements from a jQuery wrapped set?

    - by Bungle
    I'm a little confused about which jQuery method and/or selectors to use when trying to select an element, and then remove certain descendant elements from the wrapped set. For example, given the following HTML: <div id="article"> <div id="inset"> <ul> <li>This is bullet point #1.</li> <li>This is bullet point #2.</li> <li>This is bullet point #3.</li> </ul> </div> <p>This is the first paragraph of the article</p> <p>This is the second paragraph of the article</p> <p>This is the third paragraph of the article</p> </div> I want to select the article: var $article = $('#article'); but then remove <div id="inset"></div> and its descendants from the wrapped set. I tried the following: var $article = $('#article').not('#inset'); but that didn't work, and in retrospect, I think I can see why. I also tried using remove() unsuccessfully. What would be the correct way to do this? Ultimately, I need to set this up in such a way that I can define a configuration array, such as: var selectors = [ { select: '#article', exclude: ['#inset'] } ]; where select defines a single element that contains text content, and exclude is an optional array that defines one or more selectors to disregard text content from. Given the final wrapped set with the excluded elements removed, I would like to be able to call jQuery's text() method to end up with the following text: This is the first paragraph of the article.This is the second paragraph of the article.This is the third paragraph of the article. The configuration array doesn't need to work exactly like that, but it should provide roughly equivalent configuration potential. Thanks for any help you can provide!
