  • How to disable text overwrite mode in Netbeans (CentOS)?

    Everytime I type some text, it is overwriting what I have typed. I assume that the mode is set to overwriting, I want to insert the text not overwrite it, but I can't disable it because my insert key is mixed up with my delete key so everytime I enter insert to disable the overwrite mode, it just delete what I type. So how to disable this? I'm using centOS.. and it seems that my problem is only related to Netbeans because when I type here, it is set to insert mode.. but in Netbeans, it just overwrites the codes! help!

  • How to make a video card use DVI output by default in text mode?

    I have an ASUS ENGT440/DI1GD5 video card which has three outputs: DVI, D-Sub and HDMI. I am using both D-Sub and DVI, but my main monitor is connected to the DVI output. Everything works fine except for the text mode. The card somehow uses the D-Sub output in text mode when both monitors are connected (when I disconnect the D-Sub output and leave only the primary monitor connected to the DVI output, it's being used correctly). How do I make the card use only the DVI output (or both) in text mode?

For example, I want option-left to move the cursor back one word, similarly to how it works in other Mac applications. In normal mode, this is easy enough; I can simply map the sequence to b. But when I'm in insert mode, I want to stay in insert mode (i.e., map the sequence to <c-o>b. In my .vimrc` file, I have these lines: nmap ^[[xol~ b imap ^[[xol~ <c-o>b Where ^[[xol~ is the character sequence that I've configured Terminal to send when I press option-left. This works, but it gets pretty tedious, especially when I've got nearly two dozen commands that I want to map. Is there a better way to do this?

    I am having a server running XEN,with ubuntu 12.04 as Domain 0. Intel VT is turned on by default and i dont want to run any Windows OS as VM. So 1. how can i makesure that all the created VM will be in paravirtualized mode even with VT enabled? I have heard that in Full Virtualization hypervisor needs to work hard for emulating all the underlying hardware,which may reduce performance for too much i/o specific applications when compared to para mode. 2.Since i am running only Linux VMs do i really need to enable VT support? 3.Can i be able to run Linux VM in para mode with VT enabled? 4.Will simply turning on VT support changes virtualization from para to full virtualization?? 5.Will there be any performance improvement for VM running Linux OS if VT is enabled?

    Often I have a lot of stuff open and don't feel like shutting down my laptop, so I just use sleep mode when I'm transferring it. But I have no idea if this might have any disadvantages. So my question is: is it bad to put your computer in sleep mode every time? Things I'm wondering: Should I turn off my computer every once in a while? Will continuous use of sleep mode slow down my system in any way? Are there any bad side effects (in the long term)? Any thoughts? FYI I'm using Windows 7 on a laptop

I have installed a patched MBR that is supposed to put my controller into AHCI mode. It does this by setting some controller port value that I don't understand.     I'm trying to properly install Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 64-bit PC (AMD64) with the alternate install CD ".iso" on a lenovo Thinkpad X220. Default Hard Disk (with a pre-installed version of Windows 7) has been replaced with a brand new SSD. The UEFI BIOS of the lenovo Thinkpad X220 is set to "UEFI Boot only" & "USB UEFI BIOS Support" is enabled (I'm using an external USB DVD reader to perform Ubuntu installation). The BIOS is a Phoenix SecureCore Tiano, BIOS version is 8DET56WW (1.26). The attempts below are made with the UEFI BIOS settings described above. Here's what I've tried so far: Boot on a live GParted CD Create a GPT partition table Create a FAT32 partition for UEFI System, set the partition to "EF00" type ("boot" flag) Leave remaining space unformated Boot on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 64-bit PC (AMD64) with alternate CD: Perform the install with network updates enabled Use manual partitioning FAT32 partition created with GParted is used as "EFI System partition" Remaining space is set to be used as "Physical volume for LVM" Then "Configure encrypted volumes" using the previous "Physical volume for LVM" as the encrypted container, passphrase is setup. Now under Integrated Pipeline Response.End() does not seem to end processing. The page continues running as if the method was never called. Big question is, why and what changed! Thanks.

    I am switching to Emacs from TextMate. One feature of TextMate that I would really like to have in Emacs is the "Find in Project" search box that uses fuzzy matching. Emacs sort of has this with ido, but ido does not search recursively through child directories. It searches only within one directory.     We have a background process that calls Excel for generation of report spreadsheets. Occasionally, a crash or inadvertent server reboot will occur while Excel is running. The first launch of Excel after the restart brings up the dialog box (paraphrasing here) "Would you like to start Excel in safe mode?" (Yes/No) The issue is that our background app can't handle this dialog box, and acts as if Excel will not start properly, and the background jobs fail as a result. I can find CL switches for starting Excel in safe mode, but I can't find anything that will instruct Excel to always start in normal mode without that prompt dialog. (I don't have access to the other program's code, so I can't make it pass through a "Yes" value if it runs into that box.) Is there a registry hack or some other way I can force Excel into normal mode every time it's called?

  • ie8 playing funny with list-style-position: inside

    Ok, So problem here... when using list-style-position:inside in IE8 the first like is indented but every line after that is not. So the new lines appear under the bullet. This is fine, but when I use a list with that css applied with an a tag within the li then the text automatically gets pushed to the second line, and the first line is empty. When I remove the a tag from the li then it jumps back up. Any idea on why this might be or is this a bug in the ie8 world or do I just need to double check my css? Any insights would be much appreciated.

    I have a sprite on which I have added two textfields side by side, horizontally. I have set the buttonmode of sprite = true. But the mouse cursor changes from regular to clickable only when I hover it on the textfields. In the empty area between the two textfields, the cursor still appears regular/normal. Why could it be?

    Using Visual Studio 2008 and built-in web server. In a Web Handler .ashx file public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { context.Response.ContentType = MimeType_text_xvcard; context.Response.Headers.Add(HttpHeader_ContentLength, "2138"); when I try to add an HTTP header I get the exception: This operation requires IIS integrated pipeline mode. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.PlatformNotSupportedException: This operation requires IIS integrated pipeline mode. I can find information about this error on the Internet but need specific info about how to presumably enable Integrated Pipeline mode (through web.config?) to allow HTTP headers to be manipulated. How do do I put the built-in web server into integrated pipeline mode? Note: Not using full-fledged IIS
