  • Problems getting PowerPoint Combobox to list items correctly

    I am creating a PowerPoint in which I want users to be able to select an item from a list in a combo box. Nothing needs to happen after this, it is just to provide a record, on screen, of their choice. My problem is that I seem to either be able to populate the combo box and users can select an item but the list gets longer each time the combobox is clicked on (i.e each time it is clicked on the list gets duplicated). Or alternatively, I can clear the combo box, then populate it but in this scenario, the users choice also seems to get cleared.   • Cannot debug tests using Resharper

    Hi, I'm not able to debug my tests using Resharper-Debug option in my project. I have seen this issue raised by lots of people, but has't come across a solid suggestion which solves my issue. The strange thing is that, if I create a sample project and write a simple unit test, I'm able to debug it without any issues.However when I try to do this in my current project, it simply throws a dialog box saying "Cannot Launch Debugger".I have checked this with my peers, and they does't face this issue :( Also I don't have any issues while running the test.   • Applescript for a Newbie: Copy file to a new folder.

    Hi there! I've also posted this on the macnn forums, but thought I may get a better response here. I was hoping to find some help with using applescript (something I have never tried before, though I have a good knowledge of php etc) I need to create an applescript that will copy specified files from one folder to a newly created folder. These files need to be specified in the applescript. so something like: start fileToBeMoved = "Desktop/Test Folder 1/test.doc" newfoldername = "Test Folder 2" make newfolder and name it 'newfoldername' copy 'fileToBeMoved' to 'newfolder' end I'm so sorry for the rubbish description!   • Possible to have ampersands ("&") in URL BEFORE the query string?

    My client is determined to have a page at /nfm&t so I made a directory named nfm&t with an index.html (to test) and that URL is still throwing a 404. So apparently it's not that easy. Any ideas? Or is there a way to just redirect nfm&t to nfmt, so that the URL at least resolves? This is a Windows server, by the way, which throws a wrench into how I'm used to doing redirects.

  • Batch convert Malformed PDFs to TIF on Linux

    I need to convert a multipage PDF to TIF, but it appears to be a malformed PDF provided by our client. I tried using ImageMagick and GhostScript, but they do not convert the file correctly. The result is only about 85-90% correct. The only thing I've found that appears to do the job is GIMP, but I can't find an example to use it via its Batch Processing methods for PDFs.   • Google Maps API v3.9: Blurry custom markers when zooming

    So it appears that Google have fixed the blurry map issue with the 3.9 / 3.10 API, which is great. But there's a new one with custom markers. As soon as you zoom in one level, the custom markers become corrupted / blurry. They rectify themselves if zooming out, although the process of zooming out also makes the markers slightly blurry. The 3.8 API does not exhibit this problem with custom markers. Here's a picture illustrating the problem (I suggest you open the image in a new tab; the blurriness isn't as easily visible when the image is scaled to fit this post). The blurring is most noticeable with the straight lines of the paper crane marker: I've had a prod through the HTML, but I can't really tell how the markers are placed on the map. But I thought that I'd put this issue out there for anyone who has experienced similar, or if anyone has any thoughts on how this can be resolved, save waiting to see if it's a glitch in the API.

  • Co-opt popular abandonware opensource project?

    Here's the scenario: A popular open source project is used/loved by many but has become stale due to the fact that the last drop came out nearly a year ago. Many bugs/feature requests/fixes have been logged in the interim and everyone is getting by via downloading the trunk and building custom/private builds with the changes incorporated. The copyright is simple -- there is none and the code is in the public domain. The project owner spins the project as community open source and has set up a sourceforge site, but to date (5 years running now) has yet to accept one contributor. In other words the "community" is a community of one. The project owner takes great pride in the project and has obviously contributed a lot of time/effort but for whatever reason has has seemingly abandoned the project and is unresponsive when offers of help are made. So, the question, should the community fork the codebase, set up a new community site, and take matters in their own hands?

  • IronPython memory leak?

    Run this: for i in range(1000000000): a = [] It looks like the list objects being created never get marked for garbage collection. From a memory profiler, it looks like the interpreter's stack frame is holding onto all the list objects, so GC can never do anything about it. Is this by design?

  • jquery ui autcomplete does not disapper with no result

The problem is, if the first few chars match something and then you enter a char that should "break" any match, it just keeps the drop down in place with the results for the last matched char... make sense? Would this be something I needed to change in the script that returns the data or something in the jquery? thanks!

    I'm using net.sf.json with a Java project and it works great. The conversion of this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <important-data certified="true" processed="true"> <timestamp>232423423423</timestamp> <authors> <author> <firstName>Tim</firstName> <lastName>Leary</lastName> </author> </authors> <title>Flashbacks</title> <shippingWeight>1.4 pounds</shippingWeight> <isbn>978-0874778700</isbn> </important-data> converts to this in JSON: { "@certified": "true", "@processed": "true", "timestamp": "232423423423", "authors": [ { "firstName": "Tim", "lastName": "Leary" }], "title": "Flashbacks", "shippingWeight": "1.4 pounds", "isbn": "978-0874778700" } However, the root tag <important-data> is lost in the conversion. Being new to XML and JSON, I am not sure if this is suppose to be the correct behaviour. If not, is there any way to tell net.sf.json to convert it while keeping the root node property? Thanks.

  • How to create a splash activity , call a second activity via a button, simple data form 5 fields and 2 buttons

    New to Android need help with one solid build that I can refer to and study for future projects. The first activity is a background image with a button,when clicked the it takes you to the second activity which is a form with 5 data fields and 2 buttons. One button calls an intent to take a picture within the app and one button that submits the data from the form along with the picture to URL. lastly a third activity that says complete thank you. I can make some of this but don't know how to link button or open and merge camera with the app to be sent as a package of data. I suppose I could also hook into GPS acquire location as well as the camera call?

  • Creating mock Objects in PHP unit

    Hi, I've searched but can't quite find what I'm looking for and the manual isn't much help in this respect. I'm fairly new to unit testing, so not sure if I'm on the right track at all. Anyway, onto the question. I have a class: <?php class testClass { public function doSomething($array_of_stuff) { return AnotherClass::returnRandomElement($array_of_stuff); } } ?> Now, clearly I want the AnotherClass::returnRandomElement($array_of_stuff); to return the same thing every time. My question is, in my unit test, how do I mockup this object? I've tried adding the AnotherClass to the top of the test file, but when I want to test AnotherClass I get the "Cannot redeclare class" error. I think I understand factory classes, but I'm not sure how I would apply that in this instance. Would I need to write an entirely seperate AnotherClass class which contained test data and then use the Factory class to load that instead of the real AnotherClass? Or is using the Factory pattern just a red herring. I tried this: $RedirectUtils_stub = $this->getMockForAbstractClass('RedirectUtils'); $o1 = new stdClass(); $o1->id = 2; $o1->test_id = 2; $o1->weight = 60; $o1->data = "http://www.google.com/?ffdfd=fdfdfdfd?route=1"; $RedirectUtils_stub->expects($this->any()) ->method('chooseRandomRoot') ->will($this->returnValue($o1)); $RedirectUtils_stub->expects($this->any()) ->method('decodeQueryString') ->will($this->returnValue(array())); in the setUp() function, but these stubs are ignored and I can't work out whether it's something I'm doing wrong, or the way I'm accessing the AnotherClass methods. Help! This is driving me nuts.

  • Is there a way to capture a bitmap from a WPF window using native C++?

    Imagine a document window in a MDI application which contains a child WPF window, say a sidebar for example. How can one get a bitmap containing both the WPF pixels AND the GDI (non-wpf) pixels? I've discovered that when making my thumbnail preview for the Win7 taskbar app icon hover, I get black in the parts of the preview where the WPF pixels should be. My current method simply grabs a bitmap capture of the document window. Then I get a DC for the preview, make a memory DC from it and select my bitmap into it. Then I do some size adjustments and bitblt the memory dc to the real dc. I'm guessing that the BitBlt operation doesn't take into account the fact that the WPF pixels are hardware accelerated and therefore need to be grabbed from the graphics hardware. All the stuff in GDI is managed just fine, though and when there's no WPF child windows, the preview image looks fine. I'm wondering if it's at all possible to grab a bitmap of the WPF window from native C++. Then I can blt that onto the black area of the previous preview.

    Can someone explain to me why these comparisons work they way the do. I had a bug in one of my scripts that took me a little bit to work through. I was using read-host and typing a number. It was storing it as a string. Write-Host "(`'2`' -gt 9 ) = " ('2' -gt 9 ) Write-Host "(2 -gt 9 ) = " (2 -gt 9 ) Write-Host "(`'2`' -gt 10 ) = " ('2' -gt 10 ) If you are comparing a string to an Int does it use the Ascii value? If so why does the first one show $false, it should be $true. Then how is it when you chage it to an int of 10 it because $true.

Which of the PHP MVC frameworks out there (CakePHP, CodeIgniter?, others?) is most similar to Ruby on Rails in that the most conventions, locations, workflows, etc are preserved? I'm looking for the similarity in the way things are done such as directory structures, conventions, etc, not a pros vs cons in speed, extra features, etc.
