• Get variable name as string in Perl

  Hi, I am trying to get a text representation of a variable's name. For instance, this would be the function I am looking for: $abc = '123'; $var_name = &get_var_name($abc); #returns '$abc' I want this because I am trying to write a debug function that recursively outputs the contents of a passed variable, I want it to output the variable's name before hand so if I call this debug function 100 times in succession there will be no confusion as to which variable I am looking at in the output. I have heard of Data::Dumper and am not a fan. If someone can tell me how to if it's possible get a string of a variable's name, that would be great. Thanks!

I need to serialize the group name, as well as the group_item's Id and name as JSON and pass back to javascript.   I need property name in my app and I use next code to get it string PropertyName =SomeClass.GetType().GetProperty("Category").Name; But I think that is bad idea. Because I use web service classes and I dont know when property names can be changed. This code give me exception only in runtime. But if I write something like this SomeClassInstance.Property.GetProperyName i get exception in moment of compilation and repair this problem. Is it possible to get property name dynamically?

• Where to set timeout value for website?

  I have a website that has its own application pool and uses ASP.net. The application interfaces with a SQL database. I changed the IIS timeout value from 20 minutes to 30 minutes but it still tinmes out at 20 minutes. If I set the IIS, ASP, and apppool timeouts all to 30 minutes it works correctly. Is there a single place I can set the timeout value or do I need to set the timeout in all three locations?

  Is it possible to tell JUnit 3 to use additional method name prefix when looking up test method names? The goal is to have additional tests running locally that should not be run on continuous integration server. CI server doesn't use test suites, it look up for all classes which name ends with "Test" and execute all methods that begins with "test". The goal is to be able to locally run not only tests run by integration server, but also tests which method name starts with, for example "nocitest" or something like that. I don't mind having to organize tests into tests suite locally, since CI is just ignoring them.

• Querying my JPA provider (Hibernate) for a collection of <Id,Name> of an entity

  Hi, I have an entity which looks something like this: Id (PK) Name Other business properties and associations... I have the need for my DAL (JPA with hibernate as provider) to return a list of the entities which correlate to some constraints (or just return them all) but instead of returning the entities themselves I'd like to receive only the Id and the Name properties. I know this can be achieved with HQL/SQL (something like: select id,name from entity where...) but I don't want to go down that road. I was thinking of somehow defining the pair a compositioned part of the entity and thought that might help me but I'm not sure that's "legal" as the Id is the PK. The logic for this scenario is to have a textbox which asynchronously queries the web-service (and through it the DAL) for the relevant entities and once an entity is selected then it is loaded as a whole and shipped to the front-end.   I'm trying to put together a really simple module with one .py source file in it, and have already run into a roadblock. I was going to call it scons-config but import scons-config doesn't work in Python. I found this SO question and looked at PEP8 style guide but am kind of bewildered, it doesn't talk about two-word-name conventions. What's the right way to deal with this? module name: SconsConfig? scons_config? sconsconfig? scons.config? name of the single .py file in it: scons-config.py? scons_config.py?

It is able to show newly created column with default value. But values are getting set for currently visible rows. To set value for all rows i have to do scrolling.   Is there a way to keep the value binding to the object, but have the optionsValue be a property on the object. As of now if I specify both, the optionsValue property that is selected will populate the value binding. Id like to keep the object intact in the observable, but specify what value to be set in the select list value.   While reading Wikipedia's page on decltype, I was curious about the statement, Its [decltype's] primary intended use is in generic programming, where it is often difficult, or even impossible, to name types that depend on template parameters. While I can understand the difficulty part of that statement, what is an example where there is a need to name a type that cannot be named under C++03? EDIT: My point is that since everything in C++ has a declaration of types. Why would there ever be a case where it is impossible to name a type? Furthermore, aren't trait classes designed to yield type informations? Could trait classes be an alternative to decltype?

  hi, I have a basic IDE for a user control i am building. It allows me to add labels to a panel and move them around, like a very basic form designer. When I add the controls to the panel at runtime, I'd like to give the control a unique name string like how the VS IDE tracks the controls it already has and adds an extra number when it creates the default control name. I have tried checking the controls collection each time a new control is added, but wasnt sure if there was a good string comparison method to return a name with a unique number on the end that hasn't been used yet.

  I am having trouble with an SQL query returning more than one row with the same name, using this query: SELECT * FROM People P JOIN SpecialityCombo C ON P.PERSONID = C.PERSONID JOIN Speciality S ON C.GROUPID = S.ID; People contains information on each person, Specialty contains the names and ID of each specialty and SpecialityCombo contains information about the associations between People and their Speciality, namely each row has a PERSONID and a Speciality ID (trying to keep it normalised to some extent). My query works in that it returns each Person and the name of their specialty, but it returns n rows for the number of specialitys they want, because each specialty returns the same row 'name'. What I want is it to return just one row containing each speciality. How can I do this?

I would separate the actual value (an int) and unit (a str) to separated variables.   Hi All, i have a "questionairre" that is made up of a series of select boxes. i need to use two properties in the options. For each selected option i need the value (which i know how to get and is working fine) but i also need to store an additional value which represents the id of the specific option in a DB. One solution would be to put the two values in the "value" property and parse it out.. but if there is some other property i can use that might be easier and clearer.. can i add a custom property?? like databaseId that could be accessed with jQuery? thanks for ANY suggestions.
