  • Using Custom Generic Collection faster with objects than List

    I'm iterating through a List<> to find a matching element. The problem is that object has only 2 significant values, Name and Link (both strings), but has some other values which I don't want to compare. I'm thinking about using something like HashSet (which is exactly what I'm searching for -- fast) from .NET 3.5 but target framework has to be 2.0. There is something called Power Collections here: http://powercollections.codeplex.com/, should I use that? But maybe there is other way? If not, can you suggest me a suitable custom collection?

    Hi, In my program I have the following class hierarchy: class Base // Base is an abstract class { }; class A : public Base { }; class B : public Base { }; I would like to do the following: foo(const Base& one, const Base& two) { if (one == two) { // Do something } else { // Do something else } } I have issues regarding the operator==() here. Of course comparing an instance A and an instance of B makes no sense but comparing two instances of Base should be possible. (You can't compare a Dog and a Cat however you can compare two Animals) I would like the following results: A == B = false A == A = true or false, depending on the effective value of the two instances B == B = true or false, depending on the effective value of the two instances My question is: is this a good design/idea ? Is this even possible ? What functions should I write/overload ? My apologies if the question is obviously stupid or easy, I have some serious fever right now and my thinking abilities are somewhat limited :/ Thank you.

I have also created a repository class for the models and I've implemented some methods like LIST, ADD, SAVE in that class which serves the controller with data. Now in one of the repository classes I have pulled some data with LINQ joins like this. private HerculesCompanyDataContext Company = new HerculesCompanyDataContext(); private HerculesMainDataContext MasterData = new HerculesMainDataContext(); public IQueryable TRFLIST() { var info = from trfTable in Company.TRFs join exusrTable in MasterData.ex_users on trfTable.P_ID equals exusrTable.EXUSER select new { trfTable.REQ_NO, trfTable.REQ_DATE, exusrTable.USER_NAME, exusrTable.USER_LNAME, trfTable.FROM_DT, trfTable.TO_DT, trfTable.DESTN, trfTable.TRAIN, trfTable.CAR, trfTable.AIRPLANE, trfTable.TAXI, trfTable.TPURPOSE, trfTable.STAT, trfTable.ROUTING }; return info; } Now when I call this method from my controller I'm unable to get a list. What I want to know is without creating a custom data model class how can I return an object of anonymous type like IQueryable. And because this does not belong to any one data model how can refer to this list in the view.

  • COCOA: Programatically creating new windows and accessing window objects

    I'm having an issue with creating new windows in Cocoa. Hypothetically speaking, lets say I have "WindowA" and has a button called "myButton". When you click on "myButton", it runs this code in the following class file: -(void)openFile2:(id)sender { myNextWindow = [[TestWindowController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:@"MainMenu"]; NSString *testString = @"foo"; [myNextWindow showWindow:self]; [myNextWindow setButtonText:testString]; } The code in a nutshell makes a duplicate "WindowA" and shows it. As you can see, this code also runs a method called 'setButtonText', which is this: - (void)setButtonText:(NSString *)passedText { [myButton setTitle:passedText]; } The problem is that when I call this method locally, in the original window - the button text changes (e.g., [self setButtonText:testString]) it works. However, it does not work in the newly created window (e.g., [myNextWindow setButtonText:testString];) When I debug the newly created window, step by step, the 'myButton' value it gives is 0x0. Do I have to manually assign controllers/delegates to the new window? I think the 'myButton' in the code isn't associated to the 'myButton' in the newly created window. How would I fix this problem?

  • Creating mock Objects in PHP unit

    Hi, I've searched but can't quite find what I'm looking for and the manual isn't much help in this respect. I'm fairly new to unit testing, so not sure if I'm on the right track at all. Anyway, onto the question. I have a class: <?php class testClass { public function doSomething($array_of_stuff) { return AnotherClass::returnRandomElement($array_of_stuff); } } ?> Now, clearly I want the AnotherClass::returnRandomElement($array_of_stuff); to return the same thing every time. My question is, in my unit test, how do I mockup this object? I've tried adding the AnotherClass to the top of the test file, but when I want to test AnotherClass I get the "Cannot redeclare class" error. I think I understand factory classes, but I'm not sure how I would apply that in this instance. Would I need to write an entirely seperate AnotherClass class which contained test data and then use the Factory class to load that instead of the real AnotherClass? Or is using the Factory pattern just a red herring. I tried this: $RedirectUtils_stub = $this->getMockForAbstractClass('RedirectUtils'); $o1 = new stdClass(); $o1->id = 2; $o1->test_id = 2; $o1->weight = 60; $o1->data = "http://www.google.com/?ffdfd=fdfdfdfd?route=1"; $RedirectUtils_stub->expects($this->any()) ->method('chooseRandomRoot') ->will($this->returnValue($o1)); $RedirectUtils_stub->expects($this->any()) ->method('decodeQueryString') ->will($this->returnValue(array())); in the setUp() function, but these stubs are ignored and I can't work out whether it's something I'm doing wrong, or the way I'm accessing the AnotherClass methods. Help! This is driving me nuts.

  • Using LINQ to isolate a particular obect from a list of objects

    Hello All, I am trying my hand at making an invaders clone. there are 30 aliens arranged in a 5x 6 matrix on screen. I need to give the bottom most alien the ability to fire a shot. I am using LINQ to group the aliens into 5 groups based on Location.X and then sort the groups descending.I then need to choose one of the groups ( that gives me 5 groups) and select the First alien in the group and use it;s coordinate to fire a shot. My code below ,well ,works , but aliens in ANY row are merrily firing shots- not just the bottom most. Pl look at my code below and tell me whats wrong.     In silverlight 3 I had an object that had a property that was an observable collection. I returned this via a web service then databinded to it. Upgrade to silveright 4..... Now my program crashes because the Observable Collection is converted to an array. What is the best way to do this? Observable collection is not even an option any longer.

I am so far that I can figure out what kind of packet it is, but now I need to figure out how to get the needed data to the handler functions. I know what the straightforward implementation would look like: simply implement BlockingQueue and accept a BlockingQueue in the constructor to which all of the methods would delegate. Is there another way that I'm missing? A library perhaps? Something with a callback interface?

    Simple question. I have an array of 21 elements, and show every three of them inside a <div> block. The code is something like this: <?php $faces= array( 1 => 'happy', 2 => 'sad', (sic) 21 => 'angry' ); $i = 1; foreach ($faces as $face) { echo $face; $i++; } ?> The problem lies when this array doesn't have 21 elements, sometimes it gets 24, an other times 17. How I wrap every three of them, and wrap alone the rest? I came up with using switch and case, but that works only when there are 21 elements only. I think I could count them beforehand and put a closing in the last one (even if it is a group of one element).

I'm using annotations in the classes but have previously had difficulties working with them (I ran into a 2 year old bug the java developers still haven't fixed).     Hi people, Have just started to get into CakePHP since a couple of weeks back. I have some experience with MVC-frameworks, but this problem holds me back a bit. I am currently working on a model foo, containing a primary id and some attributes. Since a complete history of the changes of foo is necessary, the content of foo is saved in the table foo_content. The two tables are connected through foo_content.foo_id = foo.id, in Cake with a foo hasMany foo_content-relationship. To track the versions of foo, foo_content also contains the column version, and foo itself the field currentVersion. The version is an number incremented by one everytime the user updates foo. This is an older native PHP-app btw, to be rewritten on top of Cake. 9 times out of 10 in the app, the most recent version (foo.currentVersion) is the db-entry that need to be represented in the frontend. My question is simply: is there someway of representing this directly in the model? Or does this kind of logic simply need to be defined in the controller? Most grateful for your help!

    The following code doesn't compile for me in MSVC2005: std::vector<CMenu> vec(10); CMenu is an MFC menu object (such as a context menu). Through some testing I learned that CMenu does not have a public copy constructor. To do what I wanted to do, I needed to use a dynamic array. CMenu* menus = new CMenu[10]; // ... delete [] menus; Of course, now I've lost all the benefits of using an STL container. Do I have any other options?
