  • Oracle OpenWorld Update -- Get in the Cloud Now: Building Real Applications with the Java Cloud Service

    - by Ruma Sanyal
Today we want to highlight a really exciting session focused on what it takes to build a typical application on the Oracle Cloud using the Java Cloud Service. Come to this session to learn the technical ins and outs of building such applications, what services you can use and how you should evaluate the Java Cloud Service for your applications. Whether you are new to the cloud or a veteran of building cloud solutions on other platforms, this will be a dive into the practical issues in the development - tools, build environment, and deployment approaches - that will help you go back home and try the Java Cloud Service out with your applications. This session will include a live demo and a sample application you will be able to try out yourself on the Java Cloud Service. For more information about this and other Cloud Application Foundation sessions, review the Oracle Cloud Application Foundation Focus On document.  Details: Wednesday, Oct 3,  1.15 -- 2.15pm, Marriott Marquis Foothill F

  • Oracle GoldenGate 11gR2 Event Marker System

Using event markers enables GoldenGate processes to take a defined action based on an event in the data stream. This feature within Oracle GoldenGate simplifies methods to embed specific custom processing in the areas of error handling, alerts, and notification. The event marker system effectively allows for DML driven workflows to be created within GoldenGate and enables customers to craft non-standard processing based on special events. There are a number of supported event actions including: trace, log, checkpoint before, suspend, abort, and several others. With 11gR1 events can now be triggered by DDL operations, plus variables can be passed in and out of the system to shell scripts. Some good use cases for this feature are Automatic switchover to the secondary system during planned outages Better monitoring over source systems’ performance and automated switchover to the standby system in case of an outage with the primary system Automatic switchover from initial load to changed data movement Automatic synchronization of any type of batch processing taking place on both the source and target databases for database consistency Automatic stoppage of the Delivery module to allow end-of-day reporting Finding, tracking, and reporting on transactions that are of interest including the ones that do not have primary keys or transaction record numbers If you would like to see a demo, please visit our youtube channel (http://youtube.com/oraclegoldengate)  To learn more about the new features of Oracle GoldenGate 11gR2 and to ask questions to the PM team, please join us on September 12th  8am or 10am PST for our live webcast. • Building iPhone Interfaces for Oracle E-Business Suite

    - by Shay Shmeltzer
Over on his blog Juan has been showing you how simple it is to develop a rich Web user interface with ADF accessing Oracle E-Business Suite data and even exposing it on an iPad. In this entry I'm starting from his sample application and I'm showing how easy it is to build an interface that will look great on an iPhone (or other mobile devices) using Oracle ADF Mobile Browser. For those of you who are just using ADF and never tried ADF Mobile Browser - you'll find that the development experience is quite familiar and similar to your normal Web application development. In the latest version of JDeveloper (11.1.2.1) which I'm usingin this demo we have a built-in skin that will give your application the native iOS look and feel. In the demo I achieve this by setting the styleclass of a tr:panelHeader component to af_m_toolbar to get this. For more on this styling read the doc. Check out this quick demo:

  • The Return of Oracle Wikis: Bigger and Better

    - by oracletechnet
The Oracle Wikis are back - this time, with Oracle SSO on top and powered by Atlassian's Confluence technology. These wikis offer quite a bit more functionality than the old platform. For example, wikis are now associated with groups/spaces, as opposed to an open free-for-all, and space owners have curative responsibility (for approving new members, moderating comments, and so on). All in all we're confident that you will be pleased with the experience. Of course, we'll be on the hunt for bugs/issues for a while, and if you find any yourself we encourage you to report them here.

  • Blueprints API for Oracle NoSQL Database

    - by Charles Lamb
Here's an implementation of the Blueprints API for Oracle NoSQL Database. https://github.com/dwmclary/blueprints-oracle-nosqldb Blueprints is a collection of interfaces, implementations, ouplementations, and test suites for the property graph data model. Blueprints is analogous to the JDBC, but for graph databases. As such, it provides a common set of interfaces to allow developers to plug-and-play their graph database backend. Moreover, software written atop Blueprints works over all Blueprints-enabled graph databases. Within the TinkerPop software stack, Blueprints serves as the foundational technology for: Pipes: A lazy, data flow framework Gremlin: A graph traversal language Frames: An object-to-graph mapper Furnace: A graph algorithms package Rexster: A graph server

  • Oracle Service Contracts – Calculate Estimated Tax with Higher Accuracy

    - by LuciaC-Oracle
On a Service Contract the tax rate and its effectivity can change over the contract duration.  Hence, service organizations need to provide an accurate picture of the estimated tax that the customer might end up paying.  Prior to Release 12.1.3+, the Oracle Service Contracts application calculated the estimated tax based on the line/ sub line start date.  With Release 12.1.3+ (via Patch 16601269:R12.OKS.B) , new functionality provides users with an option to calculate tax at contract billing schedule level, thereby considering the changes in tax rate effectivity at that level.A new profile option 'OKS: Calculate Tax at Schedule' has been introduced which can be used to control whether the existing or new functionality is used.  If the profile is set to 'Yes' the application calculates tax at the billing schedule level for all lines/ sub lines.  For more details on the implementation steps and functionality, please refer to Doc ID 1676700.1: Oracle Service Contracts – How To Calculate Estimated Tax with Higher Accuracy.

  • Mit Oracle Datenbanken in die Pole-Position!

    - by Alliances & Channels Redaktion
• Oracle@Work: IDS bringt mit Exadata Licht ins Investmentcontrolling

    - by A&C Redaktion
