  • UPDATE statement wrapped in an IF EXISTS block

    - by formica
I'm trying to write a DML script that updates a column but I wanted to make sure the column existed first so I wrapped it in a IF EXISTS block IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME='Client' AND COLUMN_NAME='IsClarityEnabled') BEGIN UPDATE Client SET IsClarityEnabled = 1 WHERE ClientID = 21 END So the weirdness is that it tries to execute the update even if it fails the condition. So column doesn't exist and the UPDATE statement runs and I get an error. Why? Even stranger is that this does work: IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME='Client' AND COLUMN_NAME='IsClarityEnabled') BEGIN EXEC('UPDATE Client SET IsClarityEnabled = 1 WHERE ClientID = 21') END Is there something special about an UPDATE command that causes it to behave this way?

  • Ububtu server 12.04 auto installation freezes at kickseeding running if ks.cfg has post scripts

    - by john206
I'm trying to make a custom Ubuntu Server iso file. Kickstart file (ks.cfg) runs smooth when there is no %post in the file and Ubuntu installs correctly with ks configuration. Installation finishes installing base, apt, grub and It echos: Kickseed Running... and it freezes @ 0% I thought may be apt-get update doesnt work in ks file, I tried to install other apps like apache2 but no luck I have created dozen iso images and installed them in Virtual Box.I have been googling for 3 days and checked out ubuntu forums but haven't figured out the issue. • Post picture to TwitPic using Tweetie 2

    - by David Thomas Garcia
This is so embarrassing. I'm usually really good at figuring out software, especially iPhone apps. Heck, I write software myself! But for the life of me I cannot find a place in Tweetie 2 to post a picture to TwitPic. I assume there is a way to do this, can anyone provide step-by-step directions for me?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 JQuery POST not displaying the model state errors

    - by Oshan
Hello, I have been using asp.net mvc for a bit (but I'm still a beginer). I want to have the ability to update two views as a result of a jquery postback. Basically I have a list and a details view. The details view is presented using a jquery popup (using jquery-UI popup). I only want to update the list if the details save is successful (i.e. there are no validation errors on the details view). However, if there are any validation errros in the details view, I want to update the details view so that the user sees the validation errors. so I thought in my controller, I return a JsonResult instead of a View. [HttpPost] public ActionResult SavePersonInfo(Person p) { if(ModelState.Valid) { return View("PersonList"); } return Json({Error = true, View = PartialView("PersonDetails", p)}); } As you can see if there are no errors I return the person list view, but if there are any validation errors, I have return the details view. The reason that I'm returning a JsonResult is I need to tell my view there is an error so that the view (jquery) knows which section to update (as in whether to update the person list 'div' or the popup dialog 'div'). So, in my view, the jquery is as follows (please assume that there is a form for entering in the person details and "SubmitPersonForm();" function is called upon clicking on the "Save" button): <script type="text/javascript> $('#btnSave').click(function (event) { onBegin(); $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "/Person/Save", data: $('form').serialize(), success: function (result) { if(result.Error) { $('#dvDetails').html($(result).View)); } else { $('#dvPersonList').html($result); } } }); }); </script> So the problem that I have now, is that when there is a validation error, I do see the correct, 'div' being updated, but I lose the asp.net mvc validation messages. I do not see any validation errors in red, as if ASP.NET MVC is completely ignored them. However, my ModelState does have those errros, just not displayed in the details view. I do have valication summary and Html.ValidationFor(m = ...) statements put in my details view. Could someone tell me why I'm not seeing the validation errors? although I'm using a JSonResult, I do use the right property which is a valid view when I render the 'dvDetails'. Am I doing something that I'm not suppose to in asp.net mvc? Btw I'm using asp.net mvc2 RC with Visual Studio 2010 RC. Thank you.

  • Webserver parsing chrome input from post request

    - by ravenspoint
    I am developing a small embedded web server. I want to add parsing of post requests, but I am having a problem with input password fields from Chrome. Firefox and IE work perfectly. The HTML: <form action=start.webem method=post> <input value="START" type=submit /><!--#webem start --> <p>Password: <input TYPE=PASSWORD name=yourname AUTOCOMPLETE=OFF /><br> </form> From Firefox I get POST /stop.webem HTTP/1.1 Host: 127.0.0.1:8080 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100315 Firefox/3.5.9 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 300 Connection: keep-alive Referer: http://127.0.0.1:8080/ Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Content-Length: 13 yourname=test However from Chrome, about 90% of the time, the yourname=test is missing POST /start.webem HTTP/1.1 Host: 127.0.0.1:8080 Connection: keep-alive User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.1.249.1045 Safari/532.5 Referer: http://127.0.0.1:8080/ Content-Length: 13 Cache-Control: max-age=0 Origin: http://127.0.0.1:8080 Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Accept: application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate,sdch Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.8 Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.3 Though, occasionally it does work!!!   • Windows 8.1 Update 1 Disk Usage 100%

    - by Gookjin Jeong
Background Information / Computer Specs I have a 14-inch Samsung Series 5 Ultra. Core i5 CPU, 750GB HDD, 8GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000. I've had the computer for about 1.5 years with no major problems. Problem The issue appeared at the beginning of April this year, when I updated the OS to Windows 8.1 Update 1 (not from 8 to 8.1). After being on continually (except for at night, when I put it on sleep mode) for about 48 hours, the disk usage as seen by Task Manager hits 100%. When this happens, everything from opening/closing applications to typing and even bringing up the start screen by pressing the Windows key becomes extremely slow. The only way to make the disk usage decrease is to restart the computer. Then the problem repeats. I've used my current laptop (as well as my previous laptops) this way -- putting it on sleep mode at night and restarting it only when Windows needs to install updates -- for a long time. So I know the 100% disk usage is not due to the way I use the computer. The thing that causes the spike varies. Sometimes it's System, sometimes it's one of the various applications I installed (e.g. Chrome, Evernote, Spotify, Wunderlist, iTunes, etc.), and sometimes it's Antimalware Service Executable, etc. Tried Solutions I think I tried almost every solution out there for this problem: Running the check disk command (chkdsk /b /f /v /scan c:) from Admin Command Prompt Running Windows Memory Diagnostic Disabling Superfetch and Windows Search from services.msc Running "Fix problems with Windows Update" from Control Panel -- Troubleshooting Updating and rolling back the graphics driver (Intel HD 4000) Disabling "Use hardware acceleration when available" from Chrome settings Disabling Intel Rapid Storage Technology Running the SFC /SCANNOW command as recommended here Running a quick scan & a full scan from Windows Defender (no threats found) Taking the hard drive out and putting it back Refreshing the computer, from the Update and recovery -- Recovery option in Windows settings NONE of the above worked for me. I was about to give up but then noticed that one of the main culprits of the disk usage spike, as shown in the "Disk Activity" section of the Resource Monitor, was C:\System (pagefile.sys). I googled around and found that one of the recommended solutions was to disable pagefile. I then went to **Control Panel -- System and Security -- System -- Advanced system settings -- Advanced tab -- Performance settings -- Advanced tab -- "Change" under Virtual memory and discovered that the number for "Currently allocated" at the bottom was 1280MB, although the number for "Recommended" was 4533MB. I immediately changed it to 4533MB and checked my family members' computers to see what the numbers were like. All of theirs had a currently allocated space that was only slightly smaller than the recommended space. See screenshot below: This might fix the problem. I'll have to wait a couple more days. But if it doesn't, what in the world should I do next? I'm guessing the hard drive isn't failing because This computer is less than 2 years old; and Speccy says that the status of the HDD is good. Update 5/27/2014 The "4533MB" solution did not work. I had to reboot the computer about 30 minutes ago because the disk usage again hit 100%. When I opened Resource Monitor the C:\System (pagefile.sys) again was shown to be the culprit. I have now disabled pagefile entirely via the same window shown above in the screenshot. The number for "currently allocated" is now 0MB. Will update again in a couple days, or if the problem occurs again, whichever comes sooner.

  • How to load and pass a Xforms form in Orbeon (How to Send instance to XForms) ?

    - by Clem
Hi, I am using the Orbeon Forms solution to generate messages from filled-in web forms. I read different code snippetse in Orbeon's wiki on XForms submission from a pipeline, and I tried different solutions but it doesn't work, and there is no example with a POST from a pipeline, caught by a PFC and sent to an XForms view that receives the posted data (all examples are done in the same page). I have the following pipeline which is received on his instance input: pipelineWrite.xpl <p:config ...> <p:param name="instance" type="input"/> <!-- instance containing the data of the form filled by user --> <p:param name="data" type="output"/> <p:processor name="oxf:java"> <!-- transforms the data into a file --> <p:input name="config"> <config sourcepath="." class="ProcessorWriteCUSDECCD001B"/> </p:input> <p:input name="input" href="#instance"/> <p:output name="output" id="file"/> <!-- XML containing the url of the file --> </p:processor> <p:processor name="oxf:xforms-submission"> <!-- post the XML to the success view --> <p:input name="submission"> <xforms:submission method="post" action="/CUSDECCD001B/success" /> </p:input> <p:input name="request" href="#file"/> <p:output name="response" ref="data"/> </p:processor> </p:config> Then there is the PFC which catch the actions : page-flow.xml <config xmlns="http://www.orbeon.com/oxf/controller"> <page path-info="/CUSDECCD001B/" view="View/ViewForm.xhtml"/> <!-- load the form to be filled in by user --> <page path-info="/CUSDECCD001B/write" model="Controller/PipelineWrite.xpl"/> <!-- send the instance of the form filled to the pipeline above --> <page path-info="/CUSDECCD001B/success" view="View/ViewSuccess.xhtml"/> <!-- send the instance containing the url of the file to the success view --> <epilogue url="oxf:/config/epilogue.xpl"/> </config> Then there is the success view, which is very simple : ViewSuccess.xhtml <html ... > <head> <title>Generation OK</title> <xforms:model> <xforms:instance id="FILE" src="input:instance"> <files xmlns=""> <file mediaType="" filename="" size="" /> </files> </xforms:instance> </xforms:model> </head> <body> Click here to download : <xforms:output ref="//file" appearance="xxforms:download"> <xforms:filename ref="@filename"/> <xforms:mediatype ref="@mediatype"/> <xforms:label>Download</xforms:label> </xforms:output> </body> </html> The problem is that the post is done well, the PFC catches the action well, load the correct view, but the view is loaded with no data (the view doesn't find the data on his instance input). I tried with a GET in the view to retrieve the POST data, and that's the same thing. No data is retrieved. So the download button doesn't work. I hope I'm clear enough to find a solution. Thanks in advance.

  • Fix: Outlook 2010 Update Progress

    - by wisecarver
Hey hey hey…Microsoft Office was released today on MSDN! What I’m posting here is not intended as a complaint. The updates to Office are awesome! I did however run into a few problems upgrading today. First of all, if you going to install the 64bit Office 2010 please note that you can’t install the 64bit Office 2010 if you are trying to install on a machine that is running 32bit Office 2007. You will need to uninstall your 32bit Office 2007 or install the 32bit Office 2010 instead of the 64bit version...(read more)

  • nvidia driver problem after update

    - by baltasar
I know there are a lot of posts about nvdia driver, but I am not able to solve this. I updated my configuration yesterday, September 27th, and it seems that a new nvidia driver was involved. The updated completed with an error, and invited me to send a bug report automatically. I send it, but it finally said that there was no place to send the bug report to. Today I updated again, and a new kernel was there. Then I rebooted. I found a desktop in 640x480 with a horrible, unreadable font. I run jockey and tried to go back to another version of the nvidia driver, but it seems that none of the drivers listed there are suddenly valid. I have the x-swat repository enabled, because I remember that I had a similar issue in the past that was only to be solved with the newest driver. jockey log: 2012-09-28 11:22:24,747 DEBUG: Selecting previously unselected package nvidia-173. • 12.10 update breaks NFS mount

    - by TarekEldeeb
    I've just upgraded to the latest 12.10 beta. Rebooted twice. The problem is with the NFS folders not mounting, here's a verbose log. # mount -v myserver:/nfs_shared/tools /tools/ mount: no type was given - I'll assume nfs because of the colon mount.nfs: timeout set for Mon Oct 1 11:42:28 2012 mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: Connection timed out My IP is 109, the server is 22. • Update on ASP.NET MVC 3 RC2 (and a workaround for a bug in it)

    - by ScottGu
Last week we published the RC2 build of ASP.NET MVC 3.  I blogged a bunch of details about it here. One of the reasons we publish release candidates is to help find those last “hard to find” bugs. So far we haven’t seen many issues reported with the RC2 release (which is good) - although we have seen a few reports of a metadata caching bug that manifests itself in at least two scenarios: Nullable parameters in action methods have problems: When you have a controller action method with a nullable parameter (like int? – or a complex type that has a nullable sub-property), the nullable parameter might always end up being null - even when the request contains a valid value for the parameter. [AllowHtml] doesn’t allow HTML in model binding: When you decorate a model property with an [AllowHtml] attribute (to turn off HTML injection protection), the model binding still fails when HTML content is posted to it. Both of these issues are caused by an over-eager caching optimization we introduced very late in the RC2 milestone.  This issue will be fixed for the final ASP.NET MVC 3 release.  Below is a workaround step you can implement to fix it today. Workaround You Can Use Today You can fix the above issues with the current ASP.NT MVC 3 RC2 release by adding one line of code to the Application_Start() event handler within the Global.asax class of your application: The above code sets the ModelMetaDataProviders.Current property to use the DataAnnotationsModelMetadataProvider.  This causes ASP.NET MVC 3 to use a meta-data provider implementation that doesn’t have the more aggressive caching logic we introduced late in the RC2 release, and prevents the caching issues that cause the above issues to occur.  You don’t need to change any other code within your application.  Once you make this change the above issues are fixed.  You won’t need to have this line of code within your applications once the final ASP.NET MVC 3 release ships (although keeping it in also won’t cause any problems). Hope this helps – and please keep any reports of issues coming our way, Scott P.S. In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. • Did you miss the IIS7 FastCGI Update ?

In case you did, there are some interesting improvements like. Monitor changes to a file. The module can be configured to listen for file change notifications on a specific file and when that file changes, the module will recycle FastCGI processes for the process pool. This feature can be used to recycle PHP processes when changes to php.ini file occur. To enable this feature use the monitorChangesTo setting in the <fastCgi> configuration element. Real-time tuning of MaxInstances setting....Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? We already have over 80 articles in several categories including Silverlight. Take a look: here.

  • Easy way to update models in your ASP.NET MVC business layer

    - by rajbk
Brad Wilson just mentioned there is a static class ModelCopier that has a static method CopyModel(object from, object to) in the MVC Futures library. It uses reflection to match properties with the same name and compatible types. In short, instead of manually copying over properties as shown here: public void Save(EmployeeViewModel employeeViewModel){ var employee = (from emp in dataContext.Employees where emp.EmployeeID == employeeViewModel.EmployeeID select emp).SingleOrDefault(); if (employee != null) { employee.Address = employeeViewModel.Address; employee.Salary = employeeViewModel.Salary; employee.Title = employeeViewModel.Title; } dataContext.SubmitChanges();} you can use the method like so: public void Save(EmployeeViewModel employeeViewModel){ var employee = (from emp in dataContext.Employees where emp.EmployeeID == employeeViewModel.EmployeeID select emp).SingleOrDefault(); if (employee != null) { ModelCopier.CopyModel(employeeViewModel, employee); } dataContext.SubmitChanges();} Beautiful, isn’t it?

  • 'pskill \\hostname winlogon' might budge a server "stuck rebooting", but why?

    - by Snoi
Question: Executing remote (Sysinternals) command... pskill \\machine winlogon ...can budge a server that is stuck rebooting, but how/why does this work? How do you know which service to kill? To recreate (e.g.): You run Windows Update, allow a reboot, and ...NOTHING! RDP gets cut off but the server does not reboot. Just about every other service seems to stay up. Further Background: I've faced this problem on VMs hosted around the planet for some years, and used various sc.exe and shutdown commands to learn the state of and attempt remote reboot of servers in such a state, with limited success. Most datacentres don't offer any way to see the true console or power off/on such machines. They charge $$ for you to call them to do such simple things after hours, when you nearly always have to run your maint tasks. e.g. NET USE \\machine\IPC$ /USER:login password sc \\machine query RpcSs sc \\machine query TermService sc \\machine query wuauserv tasklist /s machine This occasionally works for me... shutdown /m \\machine /r /f /t: 0 ...but more often than not it fails with: A system shutdown is in progress (1115). I found this question, and the answer by @Tweek, and it worked really well, but was I just lucky? Can not RDP to Win 2003 box or initiate remote restart @Tweek said to run: pskill \\hostname winlogon ...and that got me past this situation in a new way (Server 2008 R2 in my most recent case) - really useful! I just need to understand if I got lucky or there is more science here. What I'd like to know is why the winlogon process? @Livne said to use "tasklist /s HostName" to see what is the culprit, but how do you tell from the listed output? It's just a list of running tasks etc. From that I would not know what to look for, nor could I see anything about the winlogon process that suggested to my eyes that was the one to kill.

  • Check for updates of a specific Debian package list

    - by Erwan Queffélec
The setup I run a Debian Squeeze host that I use to build a multilanguage project (python, java, php...) and generate custom packages (debian and RPM) automatically (through jenkins) The problem The target distributions of those Debian packages are Etch, Lenny and Squeeze. But our project has some native dependencies that are available only through the DebianRelease + 1 repository (i.e Lenny + 1 == Squeeze, Squeeze + 1 == Wheezy). We for example, need the jetty packages from Squeeze in Lenny, and the cyrus-imapd-2.4 packages from Wheezy in Squeeze. Some additional info : Some package we can simply 'backport by hand' by mirroring the DebianRelease + 1 packages to our own repositories. For instance, the jetty package from Squeeze will run fine on Lenny because it doesn't need an s**tload of additional dependencies However we do need to rebuild some packages. For instance, cyrus-imapd-2.4 from Wheezy has a lot of unsatisfied dependencies on Squeeze. So we need to rebuild it in Squeeze and then upload it to our repo. The question I need to have a simple way of knowing if they are any updates on those extra packages (both "normal" and "security" updates). I could write a simple script that runs weekly, get some parameters from a file, and generate an update report. Let's say the file looks like this: jetty:squeeze cyrus-imapd-2.4:wheezy The script should run as normal user not to mess up the system apt configuration and issue the appropriate commands to generate that report. Does Debian has some built-in apt-* commands/options dedicated to that kind of problem I could use to write this script ? If not, can someone think of another clean solution to achieve what I need ?
