  I saw an interesting post sometime back but with no solution. Trying luck here: There is a table which contain 10 names (U1, U2, U3..and so on). I have to choose 5 names everyday, and display one as the Editor and 4 as Contributors While selecting the random names, I have to also consider that if one user is selected as Editor, he cannot become editor again till everyone got their chance.   Hi there, I have had only very little experience using the address book in the iPhone SDK. Does anyone have a code snippet or knows the code to get a persons name and number Eg 'Fred Smith - 027 292 2112". I haven't had much luck with the stuff I've tried. I want to achieve this programmatically, and not let the user decide (random pick of the person).   Hi, I need a Javascript random number scrambler for my website. Seems simple, but I can not figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me out? I have the following array of numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I would like to be able to have these numbers scrambled randomly. Like the following: 3 6 4 2 9 5 1 8 7 or 4 1 7 3 5 9 2 6 8 So, specifically, I would like a function that takes in an array of numbers (1 - n) and then returns that same array of numbers - scrambled randomly with different calls to the function. • iPhone screen rotates at random !

  I use a tabBar Controller as root controller. It has 4 tabs and each of its ViewControllers has - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation { return YES; } as long as the tabBarController itself. But when I rotate the device (real or simulator), the screen turns at random! If it doesn't turn when I open the application it would have the same behavior until I quit the app. I tried to add the 4 viewControllers one by one in IB to see if one was problematic, but I obtained the same issue. It only always works when there is no tabs at all! Please tell me if you have any ideas. Thanks!

• Color generation based on random number

  I would like to create a color generator based on random numbers, which might differ just slightly, but I need colors to be easily recognizable from each other. I was thinking about generation then in a rgb format which would be probably easiest. I'm afraid simply multiplying given arguments wouldn't do very well. What algorithm do you suggest using? Also, second generated color should not be the same as previous one, but I don't want to store them - nor multiplying with (micro)time would do well since the scripts' parts are usually faster.

• Get Python 2.7's 'json' to not throw an exception when it encounters random byte strings

  Trying to encode a a dict object into json using Python 2.7's json (ie: import json). The object has some byte strings in it that are "pickled" data using cPickle, so for json's purposes, they are basically random byte strings. I was using django.utils's simplejson and this worked fine. But I recently switched to Python 2.7 on google app engine and they don't seem to have simplejson available anymore. Now that I am using json, it throws an exception when it encounters bytes that aren't part of UTF-8. The error that I'm getting is: UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x80 in position 0: invalid start byte It would be nice if it printed out a string of the character codes like the debugging might do, ie: \u0002]q\u0000U\u001201. But I really don't much care how it handles this data just as long as it doesn't throw an exception and continues serializing the information that it does recognize. How can I make this happen? In this case: a.txt b.txt c.txt However, I would like to be able to have the class load on different variables such as by size, date or simply random. The problem is I have no idea how I would go about modifying the class to fit my needs. I would really appreciate your help! :D

  I just finished the Django tutorial and started work on my own project, however, I seem to have missed something completely. I wanted to get a random slogan from this model: from django.db import models class Slogan(models.Model): slogan = models.CharField(max_length=200) And return it in this view: from django.http import HttpResponse from swarm.sloganrotator.models import Slogan def index(request): return HttpResponse(Slogan.objects.order_by('?')[:1]) However, the view just returns 'Slogan object'. Then I thought, maybe I can access the slogan string itself by simply appending .slogan to the slice, but that gives me an error indicating that the object I have is actually a QuerySet and has no attribute slogan. I've obviously misunderstood something about Django here, but it just doesn't fall into place for me. Any help?

• AJAX Autocomplete appears at a random vertical position, not touching the textbox

  Hi, I am using the AJAX Autocomplete extender for ASP.NET 2. Everything works fine...I am calling a webservice which gets me the values to fill the drop down with after 3 letters are typed into certain es. I have set the maxheight attribute and am using a scrollbar in case there are more entries than would fit that height. However, I notice that in some cases, the drop down appears at a random position on the screen, i.e. rather than connected to the relevant textbox, sometimes it appears with its entries above the textbox, not touching it at all. Sometimes it would have just one entry and it would appear in the middle of the screen vertically above the textbox it is associated to. Is there a reason why this is happening?

• PHP - displaying 1 random record for each week

  I want to display 1 random record from a database based on the week. I need to determine if it's a new, and if it is a new week, then select the record and display the new record. I'm thinking I can just use a single day of the week to generate the new record, either way will work. I'm really having a hard time conceptualizing how I'll store the record id and not select a new one when someone visits again the same day or refreshes the page. Any ideas? Let me know if I wasn't clear enough.

When i incorporate it into a larger script though the variable never seems to get created for some reason, so for example this doesn't work: DBPASS=</dev/urandom tr -dc A-Za-z0-9| (head -c $1 > /dev/null 2>&1 || head -c 8) sed -i s/oldpass/$DBPASS/ mysql_connect.php If i manually set the variable though everything is fine.. can anyone see why?

• Reset UAC on a folder after permitting access

  When I access a folder in Program Files I get a UAC prompt confirming with me that I want to permit access to it. I say "yes" and get permanent access. My question is: how do I reset this folder so that it prompts me again. The reason I ask is that I am testing a .NET program I wrote that deals with directory access permissions and I need to test it with the UAC protection on. But now that I have permitted access manually, I can't figure out how to turn the UAC protection back on to retest my program.

• Setup Linksys 3200 remote access

  I'm trying to setup remote access for my linksys 3200 so that I can configure it through the WAN port. I have turned on remote access, however when I try to connect I get a 404 error. The settings I have are: When I try to access xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9999 I just get a 404 error. I have allowed RDP access to a computer behind the router and this works fine on the same IP address. Any idea's on what else I have to do to allow remote management access? UPDATE: I tried changing the port to 80 and it works. Change it back to any other number and it doesn't work. Modem is setup with a DMZ to the router's IP. Why does it only work on port 80? BTW I can't use port 80 because there is a website hosted behind the router.

• Can't move or access WSS Central Administration site

  We have several WSS Servers: WSS1 WSS2 WSS3 WSS4 SharePoint thinks that Central Administration is on WSS3 and that it can be access via SSL on port 22641. The problem is that central administration is not there. It was removed using the config wizard. We removed central admin from all servers to clean everything out, and we tried installing Central Admin on WSS1. The alternate access mappings still point to central admin on WSS3. We tried deleting the alternate access mappings, but SharePoint won't let you delete central admin's mapping. Later, we removed central admin from all of our servers and tried creating the Central Admin website on WSS3, where SharePoint already thinks it is. But for some reason SharePoint is creating the alternate access mappings using SSL, and we don't have a certificate for the server. Why is SharePoint creating alternate access mappings routing an https internal URL by default? How can we move central administration to a new server? We are using WSS 3.0.

  I have an SSH+Samba server so people can access its files from anywhere on the network. I thought it would be also interesting to provide access through a web interface, so they can access the files even when they don't have access to the VPN or a Samba/SSH client. Something like the Ubuntu One or Dropbox web interface. The http server could be on the same machine as the SSH+Samba, so it should just provide access to local files and some way to login with their username/password. Someone knows any software like this?

• SharePoint site access request denied permissions

  Here is a good catch-22. When a user without any permissions on a site requests access from the _layouts/AccessDenied.aspx page it takes them to the Request Access page (_layouts/ecm_reqacc.aspx). When the user fills out the form with a simple message it is supposed to send an email to the address specified in the site collection and take them to _layouts/confirmation.aspx. Unfortunately the users are getting another access denied error instead. I have tried going to _layouts/accessdenied.aspx on a site I am the administrator of and the email is sent fine, so it is not a problem with sending the emails. What should I check and/or give access to in order for authenticated, but not permissioned users the ability to send access requests?

• Can't access shared drive when connecting over VPN

  I can ping all network devices but it doesn't seem that DNS is resolving their hostnames. ipconfig/ all is showing that I am pointing to the correct dns server. I can "ping "dnsname"" and it will resolve but it wont resolve any other names. Split tunnel is set up so outside DNS is resolving fine So one issue might be DNS but I have the IP address of the server share so I figure I could just get to it that way. example: \10.0.0.1\ well I can't get to it that way either and I get "the specified network name is no longer available" I can ping it but I can't open the share.
