• Are there HP Infinihost III ex drivers for windows available?

  I picked up some infiniband cards off ebay for development/testing purposes. I was hoping that there would be some drivers available under windows 7, but it doesn't seem to be recognised by the OFED software which would seem to contain windows drivers. They are however immediately picked up by Ubuntu and drivers are loaded. Are these cards supported under windows 7 at all? mstflint under linux reports: Image type: Failsafe FW Version: 4.8.930 I.S. • Does Dreamweaver subversion support branching?

  Adobe Dreamweaver added support for subversion in CS4. I have CS5, I am able to update and commit, they even have a very easy rollback option where you can promote any revision number to "head" but I cannot figure out anyway to branch using it. According to Adobe their subversion support is not full featured. But I cannot find any resource that stats what all is supported. So is branching one of the things not supported? (I kind of feel like whats the point without branching?) If you can do it, how?

• PHP Runs Very Slow on IIS7. Need Help optimizing our config

  Am running a PHP based web app on our Windows 2008 cloud-based server. The app, which runs fine outside of our environment (e.g. a different IIS server), but is VERY slow in our environment. Based on googling this is a relatively common situation. I installed PHP and MySQL via the IIS web deployment method... Here's our setup: Windows 2008 Server Enterprise SP2 (32-bit) Microsoft-IIS/7.0 MySQL client version: mysqlnd 5.0.8-dev - 20102224 $Revision: 321634 $ PHP extension: mysqli Update for IIS 7.0 FastCGI Windows Cache Extension 1.1 for PHP 5.3 I had read elsewhere that ipv6 might be an issue, so I turned this off on the network adapter. The app is using: localhost as its connection Be easy on me, as I'm a bit green about some of these components... Also, rewriting the PHP app or modifying it is NOT an option. I'm reasonably SURE that our config is the issue.

• Backup tape compression

  What things should I check to confirm that compression is actually happening on our tape backup system? Although the tapes are marked as 200G/520G (native/compressed) capacity, they seem to fill up before the 200G mark (some less than 100G).   I have two directories - one from earlier backup and second from newest backup. How do i compare what changes were made to files in directory from newest backup on Linux? Also how do i display changes in for example text and php files - i'm thinking about something like revision history on wikipedia where you see old version on one side of the screen and newest version on other and changes are highlighted. How do i achieve something like that? edit: How do i also compare remote dir with local?

• Jumbo Frames on DIR-655

  I am trying to set up jumbo frames on my gigabit home LAN but no luck so far. My setup is: D-Link DIR-655 router, HW Revision A3, Firmware 1.21 EU Synology DS107+, Firmware 3.0-1337 Laptop w/ Win7 x64, external PCIx NIC managed by "Generic Marvel Yukon 88E8053 based Ethernet Controller" The router is supposed to support jumbo frames but doesn't feature any relevant setting. I set the Jumbo Packet value to 9000 on both the NIC and the Synobox but it doesn't work, ping -f -l 8972 says "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set". Is there any other setting I overlooked, the DIR-655 doesn't actually support jumbo frames, or what else could be the problem?

• Downloading source via bazaar

  Forgive me if this is a stupid question or an inapproptiate place to ask. This is my first time attempting to download source by means of bazaar (launchpad). Regardless of the package or branch... I always get an error like the following: bzr: ERROR: Revision {[email protected]} not present in "Graph(StackedParentsProvider(bzrlib.repository._LazyListJoin(([CachingParentsProvider(None)], []))))". I have looked all over and cannot find an answer. What does this mean? How can I resolve it? • Updating wordpress in a multi-node environment

  I'm finding this very tricky in a multi node environment, with code under revision control. AKA. multiple frontends and single database. I have a deployment process that pushes a git repo to the servers, but obviously if I update Wordpress from within the admin panel, it will update the files to one FE. Then I would need to copy over the new files to the other FE nodes. Plus, whenever these changes are written when Wordpress updates on a node, it writes code into the git repo. As such, it then breaks the auto deploys that perform 'git pulls', as it then has untracked changes and refuses to pull in new deploys unless manually intervened. How does one easily keep Wordpress updated in a multi node (load balanced) environment?

• Dell Inspiron 1501 battery no longer "recognized"

  My parents were on vacation last weekend and franticly called me saying that they couldn't get their Inspiron 1501 to boot anymore without the BIOS whining about the battery. Before this happened, they said the "battery went dead with negligible pre-warning". On bootup, the computer says: WARNING: The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery. With options to enter the BIOS or continue booting. I got to look at the machine last night. The battery still holds a charge, and will recharge. Windows detects it as a DellPY9617 battery manufactured by "DynaPack". I didn't get the BIOS revision, but the machine's ship date was 7/21/2007. The recommendations I could find on the internet varied from "discharge the battery completely" to "your computer is too old" to "update the BIOS", and wanted a more specific answer before doing something drastic.

  Spending all day in terminal is beginning to get frustrating. We're working with large CakePHP projects, including a ton of schema files and complex controllers. Whenever I go into a project, and enter svn up, or svn ci my system chokes. It takes a good 15-30 seconds before it returns what revision number I'm on. I'm running OSX 10.6 on a Macbook Pro. Any reasoning behind this? Anyway I could fix this speed issue?

I will work on my local drive. But during the developement of the project, I would like to merge the changes in the official, original, project. I didn't find how to do this. Before, I use tortoiseSVN client for windows, and there is an option "SVN Update" which can update the project to the latest revision. • Link two or more text boxes in Visio

  I am working on creating a template in Visio 2007 (Professional). Each page should reflect a document number and a revision number (two text boxes). I would like to make the template such that entering or changing text in one of these boxes on one page will automatically update the equivalent text boxes on all other pages. Is there an easy way to link two (or more) text boxes to show the same data (mirror each other)? I've looked into creating a ShapeData set and then using the ShapeData field in place of each box, but this will require training others to access and adjust the ShapeData field.   This is a small aplication scenario. Usually, when you have to do some backups of source code/database on your server, you use a second ftp server, a cronjob to tar.gz your db dumps and source files, and send this file to your ftp server from your application server. Dropbox created an API to use it's infrastrucutre. Since they provide 2gb for free accounts, I thought about being able to upload to it instead of a ftp server. So, if you do some freelance work, you can create a free account for each client and use this approach, maybe encrypting the files you send. You even gain a revision for each sent file, like a revison control system, for free, from the last 30 days. What do you think of this approach? Is it possible? And, more importantly: what are the security risks involved? (That's why I'm asking this on serverfault, since this POV from sysadmins will be more accurate). Thanks!

• git log throws error "ambiguous argument"

  This used to work about a year ago. Now it doesn't: git log --abbrev=6 The expected result would be all commit hashes abbreviated to 6 characters. The actual result is now this error message: fatal: ambiguous argument '6': unknown revision or path not in the working tree. Use '--' to separate paths from revisions, like this: 'git [...] -- [...]' I have the impression that Git doesn't even know about that argument and tries to silently ignore its name but not the value. Using Git 1.8.1.msysgit.1 on Windows 7. Addition: Oh and it fails on other parameters, too. The entire command is: git log --abbrev=6 --format=format:"----- Commit %%h on %%ci by %%an -----%%n%%n%%B" If I just leave the abbrev part out, it still returns another error: fatal: Invalid object name 'format'.

• Memory works fine separately, but not together

  I've been given four 1GB Corsair DDR2 memory modules, and am trying to fit them into my computer but am getting BSOD on Windows XP and errors in Memtest86+. I've tried to identify if one particular module is faulty by trying them in pairs. They work fine in pairs, but when all four are inserted, Memtest86+ reports errors. The motherboard is an Asus P5N-E with dual channel support and the modules are all the same model (same speed, capacity and timings) but one pair is a different hardware revision. One is v2.1 and the other is v2.2... the voltages are the same too. Would this minor difference be a possible cause of the problem? I've got the BIOS memory timing settings all at AUTO - should I manually set the timings?

  In iTerm2 (Build 1.0.0.20120203), I typically open several tabs, each of which has split panes , and is about one particular theme of work, for example revision control, coding, managing files, mysql terminal work. I typically need to switch between 5 or more tabs in my work flow. It is sometimes hard to remember or tell which is which by looking at the content of the screen. I'd like to name the tabs somehow, so I can quickly tell which is which by quickly glancing. Is this possible?

• I overwrote a large file with a blank one on a linux server. Can I recover the existing file?

  I came back to my machine, tried saving a file over ssh onto my linux server (CentOS). It failed. I wasn't interested in keeping any changes I had made so I closed my editor and reopened the file (over ssh). The save attempt wiped the file. I have made loads of changes to it since I last uploaded to revision control. Seeing as it has just wiped the file I assume the data is still there. It's just a text file (php), is there any way of recovering it?

• Is it possible to analyze the size of a SubVersion repository?

  Is it possible to know how much disk space each project in a SubVersion repository is using? I can check out a working copy of each project and look at the size each project takes up, but I don't think that encompasses the total size of the project (all revisions). I can look under the "db" directory of the repository, but none of the files in there make sense - I don't think it is possible to use them to figure out how much space each project occupies. I tried the svn ls --verbose command, but the size that it gives me is just the size of the actual files in the head revision, I don't think it includes all revisions. Maybe this isn't possible, but I thought I would ask. Thanks in advance!

• Is there a fix for an iMac G5 annoying screen pattern issue?

  It's probably a hardware issue, but I was hoping that someone might know of other options to try. My iMac G5 (the revision just before the built-in iSight was introduced) has developed an annoying pattern of short/wide rectangles in a pinkish hue across the screen. I've followed Apple's instructions to ensure that the logic board hasn't failed (by resetting the SMU and watching the internal LEDs light-up). I suspect either the LCD or video card has failed. Below are two screen shots, one taken by my iPhone which exhibits the problem and a snapshot taking from the faulty iMac which looks fine.

• Windows 7 doesn't recognize DVD drive

  I reinstalled Windows 7 (x64) because DVD drive stoped being recognized. At first it worked, I even got to burn a dvd. Some time later it misteriously dissapeared again. This question has been asked and answered many times on the Internet, but no proposed solution works for me. Please help! Any clues are gratefuly accepted! EDIT: I booted a live CD and succesfuly tried to burn a DVD. When I rebooted back to windows 7 the DVD drive was there. I burnt another DVD and it also works... I don't know how much it's gonna last... The drive is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H. FW Revision: HS02. It's parallel ATA.
