  • Can I use the SharePoint 2010 SQL Database through SharePoint from my App?

    I wonder if there is a supported way to access the SharePoint 2010 SQL Server through an API? I'm not talking about modifying any SharePoint Database directly (I know that that is still unsupported), but I'd like to store some data that my application needs, and instead of asking the user to enter a Connection String, I'd prefer to create my own database on the SQL Server that SharePoint uses. I think I could use the new Service Application stuff, but that seems a bit overkill?

  • Prompt with UAC when user doesn't have access to copy a file

    In my application, if the user saves a file to a folder they don't have permissions for, File.Copy will fail. An example is saving a document to the C:\ root. Instead of denying access, I'd like to prompt the user to elevate permissions with a UAC prompt, but only for this save function (not for the entire application). Is there a way to do this?

    Experienced Java programmer trying to learn Python. I have an applicaiton on Google App Engine and want to move my admin Handlers to a separate file. So now I have main.py and admin.py. I've set up app.yaml to route traffic properly, and have added the call to WSGIApplication() in each file to route to the appropriate Handler. My question is does each script file need def main() and the corresponding if statement: application = webapp.WSGIApplication([(r'/admin/(.*)', Admin)], debug=True) def main(): run_wsgi_app(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main()

Occasionally, I'm using the stack trace to get a more detailed error reporting logs from the deployed applications; can this functionality be achieved without relying to those files? Also, how much hints of the original source code does these files contain? Would it be easier to reverse-engineer my application using it?

  • Exception in the OnIdle event does not bubble up

    On my main form, I subscribed to two events: Application.ThreadException and Application.Idle. In theory, any exception that is not caught should get bubbled up to the main form. However, this does not work if the exception happens in the OnIdle event. The system just crashes. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks so much.

I am wondering if there is a way (for error checking purposes) to test if a method exists without trying to execute it.     hi .. iam trying to use the code posted here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/621577/clipboard-event-c it does work really great, but while testing, i found out that when copying from some application as example firefox, you will get the event running twice, so if you are saving the copied text to a textfile, or writing them to a textbox in the application, the text copied from firefox will appear twice ? anybody can help me with this problem ? thanks a lot
