• Sort the $_POST variables

  Hello guys Might be an easy for you guys. I am trying to sort the $_POST variables that were sent by a form and update the sorted result in mysql. I am not sure how to do it and appreciate it anyone can help me about it. My main.php //I have a loop here.   I am attempting to narrow results of an existing complex query based on conditional matches on multiple columns within the returned data set. I'll attempt to simplify the data as much as possible here. Assume that the following table structure represents the data that my existing complex query has already selected (here ordered by date): +----+-----------+------+------------+ | id | remote_id | type | date | +----+-----------+------+------------+ | 1 | 1 | A | 2011-01-01 | | 3 | 1 | A | 2011-01-07 | | 5 | 1 | B | 2011-01-07 | | 4 | 1 | A | 2011-05-01 | +----+-----------+------+------------+ I need to select from that data set based on the following criteria: If the pairing of remote_id and type is unique to the set, return the row always If the pairing of remote_id and type is not unique to the set, take the following action: Of the sets of rows for which the pairing of remote_id and type are not unique, return only the single row for which date is greatest and still less than or equal to now. • How can I filter using the current value of a text box in a jQuery selector?

  I have a validation script that checks for data-* attributes to determine which fields are required. If an element has the 'data-required-if' attribute (which has a jQuery selector as it's value), it checks to see if any elements are found that match that selector. If any are found, the field is required. It does something similar to the following: $('[data-required-if]').each(function () { var selector = $(this).attr('data-required-if'), required = false; if ( !$(selector).length ) { required = true; // do something if this element is empty } }); This works great, but there's a problem. When you use the attribute selector to filter based on the current value of a text field, it really filters on the initial value of the text field. <input type='text' id='myinput' value='initial text' /> <input type='text' id='dependent_input' value='' data-required-if="#myinput[value='']" /> // Step 1: type "foobar" in #myinput // Step 2: run these lines of code: <script> $('#myinput').val() //=> returns "foobar" $('#myinput[value="foobar"]').length //=> returns 0 </script> I understand why it's doing that. jQuery probably uses getAttribute() in the background. Is there any other way to filter based on the current value of an input box using purely jQuery selectors?

• Show dialog while loading new screen

  I have a front screen with a button which opens a second screen. The second screen can take a few seconds to load so I want to display a dialog while loading. My problem is the dialog does not display while loading second screen, but it displays when I return to first page from the second page. If I comment out the "startActivity" to open second page the dialog shows fine. I'm fairly new to android programming - I guess it has something to do with threads. //code snippet from inside onCreate: NewGame.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View arg0) { //does not get displayed before 2nd page opens showDialog(DIALOG2_KEY); //shows fine if next 2 lines commented out Intent i = new Intent(screen1.this, SudukuXL.class); startActivity(i); I've dealt with the dialog showing on returning to the front screen using onPause(). I've tried using threads to seperate the dialog from the startActivity but I've had no luck. Any help would be appreciated. I used code from Android examples to create dialog. • How come this relative positioned div is displayed differently in IE?

  What is with these microsoft browsers? Does microsoft ever do a good job at anything... Anyways, I have a relative positioned div inside another div. The inside-div is positioned with percentage (left: 0%; top:13%). My problem is that in all IE versions the div is displayed some pixels further down than where it is displayed in Chrome, or FF... Anybody recognize this? <div class="nav_container" id="nav_container"> <div id="nav_container2" style="position: relative; left: 0%; top: 13%;"></div> </div> Also, I am just about to browser adjust my website so some article about most common problems with IE is appreciated. • my div tag is not aligning properly after jquery.html replacement

However, when I use .html in jquery to change or add text to sched_text it throws the css off and places the div tag not as a block anymore but placed somewhere to the side. Does something change when you use .html text? what would the proper way of doing it? Thanks Ok the issue is that my .html or .text is not a string. I just did .text(the_Week[i][1]); which results in a number. How do I present it as a string?

• JSON to display text -- Freezes UI

  Hi everyone, I currently have a very simple view which displays info from a JSON feed. The problem I'm facing is the few second pause I encounter once I press this tab. How can I make this view load instantly and then have the label.text areas load after? Preferable with an activity indicator? Should I use threads? Thanks in advance! • Is this a bad indexing strategy for a table?

  The table in question is part of a database that a vendor's software uses on our network. The table contains metadata about files. The schema of the table is as follows Metadata ResultID (PK, int, not null) MappedFieldname (char(50), not null) Fieldname (PK, char(50), not null) Fieldvalue (text, null) There is a clustered index on ResultID and Fieldname. This table typically contains millions of rows (in one case, it contains 500 million). The table is populated by 24 workers running 4 threads each when data is being "processed". This results in many non-sequential inserts. Later after processing, more data is inserted into this table by some of our in-house software. The fragmentation for a given table is at least 50%. In the case of the largest table, it is at 90%. We do not have a DBA. I am aware we desperately need a DB maintenance strategy. As far as my background, I'm a college student working part time at this company. My question is this, is a clustered index the best way to go about this? Should another index be considered? Are there any good references for this type and similar ad-hoc DBA tasks?

• text in div not going to next line

  I'm trying to get an array to poplulate a Counties select. If I use find('all') I can get the data but this array needs flattening to use in the view with $form-input($counties). If I use find('list') I can't seem to get the right array - which is simple array of county names. What I have tried is this: $ops=array( 'conditions' => array( 'display' => '!=0', 'TO_DAYS(event_finish) >= TO_DAYS(NOW())' ), 'fields' => 'DISTINCT venue_county', 'order' => 'venue_county DESC' ); $this->set('counties', $this->Event->find('list',$ops)); but the SQL this generates is: SELECT Event.id, DISTINCT Event.venue_county FROM events AS Event WHERE display = 1 AND TO_DAYS(event_finish) = TO_DAYS(NOW()) ORDER BY venue_county DESC which generates an error because it first inserts the Event.id field in the query - which is not wanted and causes the error. In my database I have a single table for Events which includes the venue address and I don't really want to create another table for address. What options should I be using efor the find('list') call?

I want to change the code to the following <tr> <td> <select name="user_level" id="user_level" class="sel"> <option value="">Select one…</option> <?php if(!empty($level)) { foreach($level as $value) { echo "<option value='{$value}'"; echo getSticky(2,'user_level',$value); echo ">{$value}</option>"; } } ?> </select> </td> </tr> With this being my array query $level = array('User','Admin'); How can I pass the values of 1 for user level and 5 for admin in this code so when the user is selected it inouts 1 into the database?

  I am converting a application from c++ to C# and have a question about the proper way to handle importing structs. I am attempting to convert a struct from a c dll into c# The struct in c looks like this typedef struct card_info { ushort r; ushort s; enum_a a; usinged long ul; ushort n; ushort* b; ushort id; } CARD_INFO; when i use [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequentaial)] the size of the array is 20 bytes in c#. However, if take a look at my working c++ code it is 24 bytes. I changed my c# to look like this: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Explicit)] public struct CardInfo { [FieldOffset(0) public ushort r; [FieldOffset(2) public ushort s; [FieldOffset(4) public EnumA a; [FieldOffset(8) public ushort ul; [FieldOffset(12) public ushort n; [FieldOffset(16) public UInt32 b; [FieldOffset(20) public ushort id; } This seems to compile but I'm not convinced this is the correct way to go about doing this. Please let me know if this is correct or if there is a better way. Thanks
