CSS repeat pattern with linear gradient

I'm on my first approach with photoshop patterns.I'm buildin a webpage where I want to use my pattern to give a nice effect to my webpage background. The pattern I found is 120x120 px If I was done here I should use this css: background-imag:url(mypattern.jpg); background-repeat:repeat; But Im not done.Id like to *add to my page's background a linear gradient(dir=top/down col=light-blue/green) with the pattern fill layer on top of it, with blending mode=darken *. This is the final effect: I come to the point. QUESTION: Combining linear vertical-gradient effect and my 120x120 pattern is it possible to find a pattern that I could use to repeat itself endlessly both vertical and horizontal??which is a common solution in this case? JQuery iterating through textboxes and changing its color

I'm trying to iterate through all the empty textboxes in a table and change its background colour. I'm using the following JQuery code: $("#btn2").click(function() { var emptyTextBoxes = $('input:text').filter(function() { return this.value == ""; }); emptyTextBoxes.each(function() { this.css('background-color', '#ffff00'); // $('#Col3Txtbx').css('background-color', '#ffff00'); }); }); This does not seem to refer to the textbox which seems strange to me. When I uncomment out the particular textbox, it does reset the background colour. Can someone explain to me what 'This' is referring to?

CSS button not styling

Hey, I must be missing something obvious, but can someone explain what I'm doing wrong with my CSS? I would like all buttons to have a certain format, except a few. I was expecting to use CssClass in order to override the few that should be different, but they all seem to use the standard one. My CSS: .btn { border:none; background-color:red; } input[type="submit"] { border: 2px solid black; background-color:green; } All the buttons take the second value (green background, with a border). However, I have this button: <asp:Button ID="btnAdd" CssClass="btn" runat="server" Text="Add" /> I was expecting this to have no border, and a red background, but it's the same as every other button. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

I'm developing a menu. This menu, will change the background image when you click on a link, as almost all menus does. if i click in one link from the menu, this link backgroun will change the color. My jquery script is: $(function() { $('#menu ul li').click(function() { $('#menu ul li').removeClass("current_page_item"); $(this).addClass("current_page_item"); //return false; }); }); today, with the "return false" commented, when i click on the link under "#menu ul li" it changes the background open the new page and the background is reseted. For sure, if i uncomment the return false, the background works fine but then i cannot open any link. So its looks like after that i open a new page, it reset the classes. How can i make it persistent?

WPF TreeView: How to style selected items with rounded corners like in Explorer

The selected item in a WPF TreeView has a dark blue background with "sharp" corners. That looks a bit dated today: I would like to change the background to look like in Explorer of Windows 7 (with/without focus): What I tried so far does not remove the original dark blue background but paints a rounded border on top of it so that you see the dark blue color at the edges and at the left side - ugly. Interestingly, when my version does not have the focus, it looks pretty OK: I would like to refrain from redefining the control template as shown here or here. I want to set the minimum required properties to make the selected item look like in Explorer. Alternative: I would also be happy to have the focused selected item look like mine does now when it does not have the focus. When losing the focus, the color should change from blue to grey. JQuery - Make my script work?

Hi, I have written a script. It does work! It's just a bit rubbish. Could someone tell me where I am going wrong. Basically, I have a 5 star rating box. When the mouse hovers over the various parts of the box I need the stars to change. Currently the stars only change when you move your mouse over and out of the element. I need the stars to change while the mouses within the element. Android - When to use Service

This question is related to my previous question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2786720/android-service-ping-url So I have an Android app that on the click of a button, opens up a web page. Now, in the background I want to call another http url for gathering stats. My question is does this have to be a service? I know a service is for background tasks that run for an indefinite period of time, while the user is busy doing something else. In my case, all I really need is to get the URL in the background, not show it to the user, instead show the web page to the user. Can I just not write code to get contents of the http url and fire up the activity that displays the web page? Coz all I want is to get the url in the background and be done with it. Or does this have to be done using the Service class? I am confused. Thanks Chris

Space Stuck between two Div Tags

I've been working on a small blog form but have been having trouble with my Div tags. Whenever I create a second div tag to hold the Form a space has appeared between it and the previous Div tag. CSS Sprites Bottom repeating

Can you bottom repeat a sprite background where I want the sprite to be set of the background on the bottom of the div. I have this: .statistics-wrap { margin-top: 10px; background: url(../img/bg-sprite.png) repeat-x 0 -306px bottom; overflow: hidden; border: 1px #BEE4EA solid; border-radius: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; padding: 10px; } It doesn't seem to appear, if I remove the bottom it will appear but it is set in the background repeating horizontally at the top of the div which I want it to repeat at the bottom. Is it possible?

CSS ] how to automatically resize the wrapper div.

Hi, I've been struggling with this problem.. There is a wrapper div and it contains 3 vertical column divs with full of texts, and this wrapper div has red background color so that it can be a background of the entire texts. <div id="content_wrapper"> <div id="cside_a"> // massive texts goes here </div> ... // two more columns go here. </div> And here is the CSS code for them. #content_wrapper { background-color:#DB0A00; background-repeat:no-repeat; min-height:400px; } #cside_a, #cside_b, #cside_c { float: left; width: 33%; } And this code gives me a background that covers only 400px height box.. My expectation was the wrapper div automatically resizes depending on the size of the divs in it. Somehow putting "overflow:hidden" with wrapper CSS code makes everything work fine. I have no idea why "overflow:hidden" works.. shouldn't this hide all the overflowed texts..? Could anyone explain me why? Is is the correct way to do it anyway?

Nested ListBox in DataGrid? Inherit style?

I have a DataGrid with multiple columns. The data grid has a style that changes the forecolor of text on a row where the mouse is over or the row has been selected. So the text color will change from black to white, for example. In one of the columns in the data grid, I have a ListBox. Is it possible for the items in the list box to have the foreground change to that of the data grid row, when you do mouse over or select the data grid row? I don't want to have a style for the list box that is specific to mouse over for the list items, I just want the foreground of the list items to change automatically to the forground of the data grid row when the mouse is over the row or selected the row. So even if the user moves their mouse over a different column (that doesn't contain the listbox) - I would want the foreground for the listbox to change. How can I go about doing this? ValueConverter? Thanks. Chris

Horizontal and vertical center text in html

I have a div with a background image that needs to be centered horizontally and vertically. On top of that image, I also want to display a 1-line text, also centered horizontally and vertically. I managed to get the image centered, but the text is not centered vertically. I thought vertical-align:middle would do the trick. Workaround: I actually got this to work by using a table. (I'll probably be cursed to hell by the HTML community.) Is there any significant reason not to use this btw? Override transparency color when converting transparent PNG to JPG

I'm using Dragonfly to generate thumbnail images in a Rails app. I'm serving all picture images as JPG's. Now the client is uploading transparent PNG files, like this one: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/images/eg2010/ART120_TRF_12_02.png Dragonfly uses RMagick to convert these images to JPG. The problem is that it converts the PNG images to JPG with a black background, and my site's design requires a white background. I've tried to override it like this: encoded_image = Magick::Image.from_blob(image.data).first if encoded_image.format.downcase == format image # do nothing else encoded_image.format = format encoded_image.background_color = "white" encoded_image.transparent_color = "white" encoded_image.to_blob end But the produced JPG images still contain a black background. Does anyone know how to beat RMagick into using a white background when converting the transparent layer? I know I could just serve as PNG, but then the images are 10 times as large, and the site is already pretty bandwidth heavy.

How to force a DIV block to extend to the bottom of a page, even if it has no content?

The reason I want to do this is so if there isn't much content to display, the vertical border still goes all the way down. Div that appears behind other. How to avoid that behaivor?

Hello there... I'm using JQuery for this. The problem is that, when I drag an object from the side bar, the DIV that I'm dragging appears behind the main area, thus it looks really bad. I took a screenshot of the problem: http://i.imgur.com/Xu4GM.png The div I'm dragging has this CSS: .reporte_arrastrado{ width: 150px; height: 60px; background-color: silver; background-image: url(chart.png); background-position: left center; background-repeat: no-repeat; padding: 10px 0 10px 26px; position:relative; } And, the one that represents the main area has this CSS: #tabs{ position:relative; } That's it... I've read some answers here, and people always suggest to set the position property to relative. But, it does not work for me. Thanks for reading.
