  • [Android] Is disabling landscape mode unforgivable?

    Our application could support landscape mode without any problem, but it is such a pain that we are thinking about forcing portrait mode. Question: Is it BAD? The main problem is that changing orientation generates random crashes on many screens. Avoiding those crashes would potentially allow us to spend more time on the core aspects of the app. Will the same crashes happen when users switch apps anyway? Also, are there landscape-oriented devices where our app will become useless?

The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). I'm asking because my default setting for IIS7 is <deployment retail="true" /> so no error is being showed and only adding additional error handling module to website will allow to see errors generated by this application and thats why I want to override this message to inform users about it.   • Postfix won't run while selinux in enforcing mode

    I enabled selinux forcing mode on Fedora 15 , and I was able to get apache, mysql and memcached to work fine , but I couldn't get postfix to run .   • Communicating via Command Mode with IBM HS22 IMM via AMM

    On previous model blades that contained a BMC, I was able to communicate from our external management station via pass-through commands to the BMC to do things such as power blades on/off, set VPD parameters, reboot the BMC, etc. Now on the HS22, a bunch of things happen differently. For example, we can no longer use the same pass-through commands to write VPD information pages and have them persist across reboots of the IMM - it looks as though those VPD pages are populated from information contained in the IMM. How do we use the Advanced Settings Utility from an external host to communicate with HS22 IMMs? Alternatively, what TCP Command Mode commands do we need to send to the AMM to communicate with the IMM? For our purposes, we specifically cannot communicate with the IMM from the blade itself. Specific example: When I send a pass-thru IPMI command via the AMM to the blade BMC to write information (such as MTM, Serial) into VPD page 0x10, it persists on blades with a BMC (HS21 for example). I can send the same IPMI command to write data to the VPD page on the HS22, however it does not persist across reboots of the IMM. What IPMI commands do I need to send to the IMM? What IPMI commands are asu sending when it sets the MTM & Serial?

  • Excel 2010 data validation warning (compatibility mode)

    We have some legacy worksheets that were created in Excel 2003, which are used by LabVIEW-based test automation software. The current LabVIEW software can only handle the legacy .xls format, so we're forced to keep these worksheets as-is for the time being. We've migrated to Office 2010 and when working with these worksheets, I see this warning: "The following features in this workbook are not supported by earlier versions of Excel. These features may be lost or degraded when you save this workbook in the currently selected file format. Click Continue to save the workbook anyway. To keep all of your features, click Cancel and then save the file in one of the new file formats." "Significant loss of functionality" "One or more cells in this workbook contain data validation rules which refer to values on other worksheets. These data validation rules will not be saved." When I click 'Find', some cells that do indeed have validation rules are highlighted, but those rules are all on the same worksheet! We're using simple list-based validation, with some cells off to the side containing the valid values (for example, cell B4 has a List with Source "=$D$4:$E$4") This makes no sense to me whatsoever. One, the workbook was created in Excel 2003, so obviously we couldn't implement a feature that doesn't exist. Secondly, the modifications we're making don't involve changing the validation rules at all. Thirdly, the complaint that Excel is making is incorrect! All of the rules are on the same worksheet as the target. As if the story wasn't bizarre enough: I went ahead and saved the worksheet with Excel 2010. I then went to an old computer back in the lab and opened the document with Excel 2003. Guess what - the validations were untouched! My questions are: is this a legitimate bug in Excel 2010, or is this some exotic error in the legacy .xls worksheet that is confusing the heck out of Excel 2010? Has anyone else observed this issue working in compatibility mode?

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader don't zoom out the page enough in "one page" mode

    I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9.4 under Debian Lenny. I'm experiencing a problem: when I push the "Show one page at a time" button, I expect the page to zoom such that pressing PgUp/PgDn would turn to the next/previous page. However, the zoom seems to be not enough - very thin bottom portion of the page doesn't fit inside the reader window, and pressing PgUp/PgDn gives the jitter of the same page, and I have to push twice to get to the next page. It is even worse in continuous page mode - a roll of pages begin to be non-synced with window boundaries, ending up with page break right in the middle of the view after several turns of the pages. This behaviour doesn't occur on windows version - I have a page properly zoomed in single/continuous modes, so that turning the pages is performed as page-at-once, as intended. How to make the Acrobat Reader fit the page to window properly? Thats how it looks before pressing PgDn (notice the bottom edge of the "paper" hidden beneath the bottom window edge): Thats how it looks after pressing PgDn (notice the "paper" bottom edge emerged from beneath the window edge, while the "paper" upper edge hides behind the upper window edge, showing that the document window size is not enough to contain the whole page):

  • Virus ridden computer freezes on startup - can't access safe mode

    Someone whom I love but who cannot be trusted with a live internet connection downloaded a particularly nasty virus that in turn downloaded a variety of unknown other viruses onto my home computer. The computer now freezes completely a few seconds after reaching the desktop and is unresponsive to any keyboard or mouse command. There are videos of my little kid on this hard drive that are not backed up and that I cannot bear to lose. But if I could get in there long enough to copy them off to an external drive I would have no problem doing a clean windows install to fix the problem; everything else is backed up online but the videos were too large. Normally I would start by going into safe mode but I have a large Dell monitor that doesn't show anything until the welcome screen appears. I think that I have gotten into the setup screen once or twice by mashing keys before I can see anything, but this monitor doesn't support that so I can't see what I'm doing to get it to boot from CD or anything else. I'm at my wits end. Any advice?

I have bridged eth0 and wlan0, so my wireless clients that connect to my laptop over wifi get ip from the wired router via dhcp, so the devices get registered at the wired router ( and the laptop is just an access point). I use the following commands to get my laptop+accesspoint working: sudo brctl addbr br0 sudo brctl addif br0 eth0 sudo hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf & sudo dhclient -d br0 & sudo ifconfig wlan0 192.168.1.15 netmask 255.255.255.0 up sudo brctl addif br0 wlan0 These commands enable me to access internet on my wireless clients and also on the laptop which is acting as wireless accesspoint. But if I reboot the wired router (without rebooting the laptop that is acting as accesspoint), Internet access on the laptop+accesspoint gets lost, but on wireless clients it works fine. Even I have not been able to figure out a command which will reset the laptop interfaces to default settings, so everytime the router reboots, I have to reboot the laptop too to get into default settings so that I can re-enter the above mentioned commands. My first question is How can I have my bridge+accesspoint up and running even-though the router reboots? And is there a command to set the interfaces to a default state? (ifdown -a doesn't work, after issuing the command the bridge still remained).

    I have to install an httphandler that needs to run on classic mode. I have created an application on the iis that uses a classic apppool and put the handler assembly there. Does the configuration look ok for a 64bit system?

  • Xbox Music ignores Asus FN media keys in Desktop Mode

    I have an Asus PRO64JQ laptop, and I recently upgraded to Windows 8. The FN keys stopped working, so I tried to install default drivers using the CD that came with my laptop. Unfortunately, the CD does not support Windows 8. Asus Support does not help me either. It seems that Asus does not support Windows 8 on my model, since I can't find it in their list of Windows 8 upgradable models. Also, the support page of my laptop does not allow me to select Windows 8 as OS. That's why I'm asking my question here. I fixed (most of) the FN keys by installing the ATKPackage, and I was happy to find out that the media keys (play/pauze, next, previous) works with the Xbox Music app. But the keys only work in the Metro UI. In Desktop Mode, pressing FN+? (play/pause) starts up Windows Media Player. Disabling Windows Media Player through the control panel stops it from popping up, but Xbox Music still only responds to them in the Metro UI. I remember that I had similar problems when I tried to make these media keys to work with iTunes on Windows 7. The fix there was a small iTunes plug-in. So tell me, do you know how to fix my problem?   • Linux boot - stop the kernel switching to a new framebuffer mode clearing output

    I'm working on an embedded system (based onUbuntu 12.04 LTS) and I'm customizing its kernel. I'm having some problem with upstart, mountall and plymouth. Nothing unsolvable I suppose, but the real problem is that I can't diagnose properly what's going on because the kernel (or maybe plymouth) changes the video mode in the middle of the boot process. This completely wipes entire lines of log and prevents any debugging of kernel misconfigurations.   • Windows 7 BSOD, safe mode working,

    I need help getting my dualboot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 to work, and since I'm not to experienced with computers I've been pretty dumb. Here's what I've done, quite shortend though: First removed a Ubuntu 10.04 partion, and replaced bootloader using EasyBCD Installed Ubuntu 12.04 on same partion as before Decided I need more space so I shrinked my C: partion (Windows partion) using Here, after rebooting my computer, I was stuck a grub rescue, when booting up the computer I fixed that by using SuperGrubDisk Rescatux and then using my Windows Vista install disk to repair the computer (computer is using Windows 7) I know re-installed Ubuntu 12.04 on the linux partion and got the GRUB-bootloader working Then, after using my computer for several hours, I installed beta drivers (version 304.79) for my GeForce GTS 240 and then rebooted my computer. At the first boot (after reboot) my computer just crashed, and here I am When trying to boot Windows 7 now I get a Blue Screen Of Death. I can though boot in to safe mode with everything working. I have uninstalled the beta drivers and installed the same one as before but still the same problem. I have tried all the commands in Bootrec.exe and none is working. I can't neither find an OS when using Bootrec.exe/ScanOs. I have also tried running: sfc/scannow and that comes out clean. Short: My harddrive and files seems to be intact but when booting I get bluescreen. I can though boot in to safemode with everything working. I need help Thanks to anyone who even took the time to read that. //mil0ck

    I have remote email access from an iPhone or my Android phone, but I cannot setup a Windows Email Client to check my email using the exact same information I provided in my phones. The email system is an Exchange 2003 and I hate using the cheap Outlook Web App that it has. User: [email protected] Password: 1234 Server: mail.domain.com And that works for they phones. So why can't I get it to work on my email client? Maybe a DNS problem?

  • Unable to install ExchangeCdo with Outlook 2010

    We recently got the Blackberry Express Server for our small home business and linked it in with our Exchange 2010 server. All is well except for calendar syncing. From what I can tell I require the ExchangeCdo patch. Except when I go to install it, it errors saying I require Outlook 2007. I have Outlook 2010 on the server and have no real way of getting 2007 on instead. Any suggestions?

(Some attendees part of domain some not) One of the attendees forwarded meeting to someone not on attendee list , that person (not in domain) accepted meeting. Organizer only sees himself and 3rd party person in Attendee list. Troubleshooting: Attendees that have accepted meeting show all attendees in list (excluding 3rd party) Attendee re-accepted invite and gets added to organizer list

  • Auto populate Outlook with other users' calendars

    In Outlook 2007, when in Calendar view, there's a category (group) of calendars on the left hand bar titled "People's Calendars". We're migrating from a system where all employees have access to read and write to all other employees' calendars (via a 3rd party Web Calendar). Is it possible, from an admin level, to auto-populate this People's Calendars category in everyone's Outlook with all the employees in the company, and grant everyone read / write access to everyone else's calendars?     I have permission to attached a mailbox to my profile. This is a mailbox I share and manage with other people. When we send from this address, we would like to have the message show up in this mailbox's sent items folder. The current behavior is that the message goes to our primary account's sent items. I'm using Outlook 2007 but others are using Outlook 2003. This is in an Exchange 2007 environment.

The option "Migrate Exchange mailbox and settings" links me to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg563803.aspx When I get to the stage of right-clicking "Move All Replicas", it instantly hangs. I can't see anything specifically in the event viewer at the time this happens. Is this a case of waiting, or is there something more going on here?

DO you think its possible to check email on both machines - perhaps a setting to download to the Mac but keep a copy on the server or how would you suggest juggling both these machines at work?
