[RPM Building] How to take user input during install

So when I create a debian package, I am able to write a post-installation shell script that runs just fine. However, I can't seem to get user input to work with RPMs for Fedora. Is there a good way to take user input? From what I understand, RPMs were designed not to allow interactive installs. However I can't see a better way to do this.. Is there possibly a way to automatically find local MySQL settings without asking the user? Otherwise, what's the best way to ask for user input?

I have a form that jQuery tracks the onChage .change() event so when something is changed it runs a ajax request and i pass in the column, id, and the values in the url. Here i have the PHP code that should update the data. My question is now how do i build the mySQl string dynamically. and how do i echo back the changes/updates that where just changed on the db. make target is never determined up to date

Cygwin make always processing $(chrome_jar_file) target, after first successful build. So I never get up to date message and always see commands for $(chrome_jar_file) are executing. However it happens only on Windows 7. On Windows XP once it built and intact, no more builds. I narrowed down the issue to one prerequisite - $(jar_target_dir). [PHP] Script looking for string in file breaks

Hey guys. I'm running a script that looks for a specific term in a pdf file. Well, actually I'm reading the pdf file as a txt file and look for the term there. The script processes over 20k files. But, unexpectedly, the script breaks after it hits a file that is over 50mb long. It stops. What could the reason be? Determine if a directory is empty, delete it if it is and delete that directroy name from a separate list. C-shell

I have a directory named STA. Within that directory are about 600 other directories that have the format hh:mm:ss (for example 00:01:34). Within each of these sub-directories should be three files. I also have a file, 'waveformlist', (contained within STA) which is a list of all of these sub-directories i.e.: 00:01:34 00:02:35 etc. A lot of the sub-directories do not contain these three files and are instead empty. I want to run a C-shell script to go through every sub directory and check if it is empty. If it is empty I want to delete that sub directory from the main directory STA, and also remove that sub-directory name from the list 'waveformlist'. Below is my script so far. It does not recognize when the sub-directory is empty or not and does not like the rm $dir line. batch: replace a line in a text file

Can't access form elements

Hi, my problem is that my variables are not working in javascript. all variables need names without some character at the beginning, this is the stupid thing...Anyways, im trying to make a funtion that makes "select all checkboxes". How can I use "PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser" to get the contents of an <h1></h1> tag?

I'm new to PHP =) Right now I am using PHP includes for my site template. I have my header, containing all my <head></head> info. What I want to do is write a code that will take the contents of the <h1></h1> tag from the page, and echo it into the <title></title> tag in my header.php include. I got the PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser from here: http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/, and I found a code (I forget where in all my googling) that goes like this: <?php $url = (!empty($_SERVER['HTTPS'])) ? It looks like it's getting the current page, then putting the contents of the h1 tag into the variable $element, and then echoing it. But nothing happens when I put it into my page. I don't want to this 26 times (one time for each letter in the alphabet), I tried to use class instead of id but that causes all the #show to toggleup heh.

php import larg table to phpmyadmin database

hi, I am so worry :( I dropped one of the tables from the database accidentally. fortunately, I have back-up. (I have used the "Auto backup for mysql") The back-up of the table is stored as .txt file (56 Megabytes) on my PC. I tried to import it by PhpMyAdmin and the import failed because the file is too large to import. then I uploaded the file to /home/tablebk directory. I have some experiences in php. allowing bb code but not java script

Hello im trying to get the hang of using bb codes onto my normal php site ( not forum or anything just a normal site ) I have seen a few posts like this one http://www.pixel2life.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10659-php-bbcode-parser/ which says i need a bb parser. I was just wondering can anyone show me how i would use one ? I have a status box were users can update there status but i would like to allow bb codes but not java script. So when im doing my inserting into the db i strip the status like so.. $status= mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['status']); $status2= strip_tags($status); And that stops the java script and tags from getting though but i need the bb code tags to come though but carry on blocking the java script code is there anyway to do this ? Also then i just echo it out echo $status2 ; But just plain text shows so was just wondering if anyone knows how to let though bb code and stop java script and could some one show me how to use the bb parasher ? also need to know how to echo out the bb coding...

For integers values(like users putting in prices), i just: is_numeric(). --How should I use htmlspecialchars? Should I use it only when echoing and displaying user data? Or should I also use this too when inputting data to a dbc? --When should I use strip_tags() or htmlspecialchars? How can I work out if a date is on or before today?

My web application consists of library type system where books have due dates. I have the current date displayed on my page, simply by using this: date_default_timezone_set('Europe/London'); $date = date; print $date("d/m/Y"); I have set 'date' as a variable because I'm not sure if it makes a difference when I use it in the IF statement you're about see, on my library books page. On this page, I am simply outputting the due dates of the books, many have dates which have not yet reached todays date, and others which have dates greater than todays date. Basically, all I want is the due date to appear bold (or strong), if it has passed todays date (the system displayed date). This is what I have and thought would work: <? if ($duedate < $date) { echo '<td><strong>'; } else { echo '<td>'; } ?> <?php echo $date('d/m/Y', $timestamp);?></strong></td> I have declared $timestamp as a var which converts the date of default MySQL format to a UK version. Can anyone help me out? I thought this would've been very straight forward!

I want to use model in yii ConsoleApplication. I use 'user' module in this model, and console app doesn't support this module. So I need to override method afterFind, where user module is called. So the Target class is the class that overrides some methods from model which uses some modules that console application doesn't support.
