  • What is the "proper" method for determining if a swf is running within an AIR application?

    I've got a Flex Web project and a Flex AIR project that use a common code-base. The common code defines several run-time loaded Flex Modules. I want the Flex Modules to behave differently depending on whether the running base application is WEB or AIR. What is the proper method for determining from the module code whether the module is running in a WEB or AIR application? (I found that Security.sandboxType.toString() returns "application", but I haven't found anything better in the documentation, yet.)

  • How to create a 'global event' in actionscript / flex?

    What is the best way to create a 'global event' in flex/actionscript - preferably using a static class? I want to raise an event to indicate that a stylesheet is loaded in order to show components that require that stylesheet. So I want each portion of the application that requires a style from the stylesheet to listen to an event telling it that the styles are all loaded.

I have an SWF Loader and it plays my SWF file however, it does not have any capability (or built in function) that pauses the file. Can anyone help me with this please?   • Is there a way to add detailed remote crash reporting to a Flex Air application?

    I will be releasing my Air/Flex application soon, but I am pretty sure there are a couple of bugs that may pop up on the various platforms that Air is available for. So I was wondering if there is a way to implement a mechanism, that would send an error report, logging where the error happened, to a remote server each time an app crashes? This way I might catch errors that otherwise would go unnoticed.

  • What is the proper method to stop loading a Flex Module before it has completely loaded?

    I seem to recall that Loader.unload() could once be used to stop loading a swf before it had finished loading. I can no longer find documentation or the blog where I read this. Perhaps it was an unofficial feature. Anyhow, IModuleInfo, returned by ModuleManager.getModule() has an unload() method. If I want to halt loading a Flex Module that is in progress, do I just call iModuleInfo_instance.unload()?

  • How should I collect dependencies from Adobe Flex files?

    I'm looking for a way to collect the dependencies from Flex ActionScript and MXML files. I was hoping that mxmlc could spit them out (like gcc's -M option), but its option list doesn't seem to have anything relevant. I could write a parser, but would prefer not to reinvent the wheel if it has already been done, particularly given the two very different languages involved. Is there a program available to do this for me?

  • Exchange server not serving mobile devices - how to troubleshoot?

    Our exchange server has suddenly stopped serving mobile devices. Attempts to connect result in our ActiveSync server returning HTTP 500. It is serving outlook clients fine. Our server is Windows 2003 SBS 6.5 SP2 There are no abnormal events in the system log. I ran the "Exchange ActiveSync with AutoDiscover" at https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ I've notice an abnormality in the exchange properties, Log File Directory shows: Access denied. Armed with a mobile device – smartphone or tablet – folks will use them to research, compare, and ultimately purchase.  A recent PayPal survey found that 46% of respondents plan to use a mobile device this holiday season to make a purchase.   An astounding 27% of consumers in an e-tailing group survey commissioned by Oracle, use a tablet device daily or several times a week to research products and services. Beyond researching or making purchases, 35% of consumers use their smartphone to receive offers and coupons, and 32% access coupons and redeem them at their local retail store.  And with GPS capabilities in smartphones and tablet (and with user’s approval), retailers will start pushing coupons and offers directly to phone users based on their proximity to their store (or their competitors). Security is one concern that both shoppers, companies and phone manufacturers will have to deal with in the coming years.  In that same Oracle-sponsored e-tailing group consumer survey, 32% of consumers were concerned about giving their credit card information via a smartphone.
