  • GUI interfaces to ATI card behave weirdly out of the box and after updates.

    My Lenovo W500 came with an ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 and both the Catalyst control center software and Vista display manager display four monitors. What's really annoying is the behaviour. My two active displays (laptop display + my external monitor) are always #s 3 and 4 respectively which doesn't make sense. This is out of the box. Additionally dragging & dropping is jumpy and displays #1 and 2 (always inactive because they don't exist to the software) are often preventing me from dragging #3 and 4 to the rightmost side. They also auto-snap to weird positions and certain sensible positions like position one directly over top of the other are not possible. The exact same annoyances are present when using the Windows Display manager too. In other words the interface is crap and I'm looking for a fix that's not wishing I had gone with nVidia instead. I've updated drivers, and Catalyst control centre. Have latest Windows and AMD/ATI updates. Any thoughts?   • Can / how to install openSUSE as a GUI-less home server with only wifi?

    Hello there, I'm following an article to set up openSUSE as a commandline server (http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-opensuse-11.1). It seems to only work for wired internet connections. Is there any way to install openSUSE as a commandline server in my home network but using a wifi internet connection? Preferably from the get-go and not simply installing with LAN cable internet and then installing some wifi things later. Or, perhaps, to rephrase the question "How can I get the openSUSE install / post-install procedure to recognize my wifi internet connection?" Kind regards, Dougal

  • How to run wireshark on the background without the GUI?

    Hello everybody, I am trying to run Wireshark on Mac OS X, on the background. I did install the command line utilities, and so I am able to start wireshark and capture packet using the command line. The only thing I want now is to run it on the background, without even having the X11 icon on the task bar and see the window of wireshark. I believe it is possible but can't find anything on the doc of Wireshark. Maybe another way would be to find a trick to hide an icon on Mac OS X... If anybody already did that or have an idea... So I have two problems here: I can't use I can't use arguments, it doesn't like them On the last line, I can't use jTextArea2.setText(d0); because it doesn't like that either...   • Are TClientDataSets part of your toolkit, or have they been replaced by something else?

    I have 50 or 60 records of four or five fields. I need to load the records into RAM (From a CSV file), search on different fields, enumerate, etc. Not a lot of data, not a lot of functionality. I was all excited to use the new (to me in D2010) TDictionary or TList, but thought that a TClientDataset (which I've never used before) might be more appropriate. With a TClientDataSet, I can use .Locate on any field, enumerate with while NOT CDS.EOF, etc. And, what exactly is this MidasLib that I have to use with CDS? Can I reasonably expect it to be supported in the future? Is TClientDataSet still considered state-of-the-art, or is it showing its age and somewhat deprecated (literally and figuratively)? I've seen colleagues use DX's TdxMemData. Why use it (or any of the other handful of memory datasets I've seen while googling this issue) rather than a CDS?   • WPF Toolkit Datagrid - how do you turn selection off?

    I have a datagrid in WPF that I am binding to an object. I have a DataGridCheckBoxColumn on there which I want the users to be able to go through and tick the ones they want. Problem is they have to click twice, once for selection then again to check/uncheck. How on earth do you turn this off, I've been searching for way to long to find the answer to this. The datagrid has SelectionMode and SelectionUnit properties - neither of which accept 'none' or 'go away' Any help is appreciated!   • Is there a way to make a Google Web Toolkit (GWT) Button look like a HTML Hyperlink?

    I plan on appending some comments onto a text, to do that, first, I need the concerned text to act like a button for me to launch a popup, which in turn shows the comment. For that to happen, I need to make that concerned text to act like a button in GWT, but due to some aesthetic reasons I don't want it to look like a normal GWT Button, instead, I prefer it to look like any normal HTML hyper-link, which upon clicking it, acts exactly like a GWT Button which in turn showing the comment in the pop up. So is there a way to make a GWT Button appear more like a html hyper-link? Or, at the minimum, would it be possible to convert the concerned text to .JPG for it to be inserted into a Image Button in GWT?

    Hola, I have an app i'm building in c#, and i'd like to have the ability to have a user click a "more information" icon next to a field, which will then show a callout with some blurb about why the field contains what it does. ideally it'd look a lot like the ValidatorCallout, but instead of being shown as a result of validation, it'll be shown as a result of a mouseclick, or hover.   • How can I prevent row selection in the WPF Toolkit DataGrid?

    I see a few options available for row selection, but 'No Selection' is not one of them. I've tried handling the SelectionChanged event by setting SelectedItem to null, but the row still seems selected. If there is no easy support for preventing this, would it be easy to just style the selected row the same as an unselected one? That way it could be selected, but the user has no visual indicator.

  • Messenger -"Register" an instance and not a type with the MVVM Light Toolkit?

    Hello i'm consfused using the Messenger class of MVVM Light. I have a ProductsViewModel that can get initialized a number of times. In the constructor of ProductsViewModel I have this code: Messenger.Default.Register(this, n = MessageBox.Show(n.Test)); The problem is, if I have 2 instances of ProductsViewModel, then Messenger gets registered twice. Is is bad to Register the Messenger in a constructor? Hope this makes sense!
