• autocomplete issue with iScroll

  I am using jQuery Autocomplete on my jQUeryMobile application. It works perfect. Now I'm trying to use iScroll.js to scroll through the list of looked up items. Here is what I'am doing, http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/39/ The problem is, iscroll is applying only for the first item of the suggestion box, where as I'm not able to scroll through entire list.Please help me if I'm missing anything in my code.Please help me to acheive this using iScoll. I found one more way that we can use custom touch based scrollbar for autocomplete box http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/2/ but there is a issue that, the custom scrollbar appears only for first search and it disappears from the suggastion box when list get refreshed, Please suggest me if we can fix this, because both options are fine for me for using my autocomplete in ipad and android. or if anyone thinks there's a better way to do this than with iScroll and jScrollPane, you are wel-come I'm open to suggestions. • NLP Library in java

  hi, I need a simple Natural Language Processing library written in java which can be used to process a search query/question. What I want actually is to separate the main subject which is being searched in a query. For an example, considering a query like "What is an apple?", it's perfect if the main search word apple can be extracted. This is for a semantic search engine development purpose. • release viewcontroller after presenting modally

  I was watching CS193P Stanford course on Itunes, and in one of the lectures a demo was given and There it was said you could present the viewcontroller modally and then release it. Roughly like this (I know this isn't perfect but I'm on my PC atm) [self.view presentcontentmodally:myVC] [myVC release]; However this seems to produce problems. If I put a NSLog(@"%d", [myVC retainCount]) between those two lines then it returns 2 implying it is ok to release. However when I dismiss the myVC the app crashes. Nothing in the NSlog and the debugger won't show where it stopped. But I used malloc-history or something that some blog said would help. And found that it was the myVC. So should I be releasing myVC? (also when the modalVC has been dissmissed should the app's memory usuage go back to before the modalVC was presented?)

• Would the world be a better place if there were only one programming language?

  Well, perhaps not the world, but would it encourage more-re-use, less replication of basic code, or at least an uplift in what is considered basic code, more time advancing the application science and a greater encouragement to share, a more advanced base of understanding for new programmers, since the language could be taught ubiquitously and patterns of teaching would have emerged which were optimised for students learning etc etc? I think all of those things would make the programming world better and would probably have significant commercial benefit too. This is definitely not a religious debate about which language is best, and is predicated on the notion of some super-being having designed the perfect language to start with, which was improbable, but it strikes me that if, from the beginning, there were only a single programming language we may be further along in terms of the evolution of the software industry and software science. And although it is now impossible, if you buy some or all of these assertions is there an argument for standardising on a single language for the future so we can accelerate our collective progress rather than all of us re-inventing some part of the same wheel and consigning our children to the same fate?

  I'm looking for a template engine. Requirements: Runs on a JVM. Java is good; Jython, JRuby and the like, too... Can be used outside of servlets (unlike JSP) Is flexible wrt. to where the templates are stored (JSP and a lot of people require the templates to be stored in the FS). It should provide a template loading interface which one can implement or something like that Easy inclusion of parameterized templates- I really like JSP's tag fragments Good docs, nice code, etc., the usual suspects I've looked at JSP- it's nearly perfect except for the servlet and filesystem coupling, Stringtemplate- I love the template syntax, but it fails on the filesystem coupling, the documentation is lacking and template groups and stuff are confusing, GXP, TAL, etc. Ideas, thoughts? • Error safe/correcting resource identifier

  The receiver is my website, the sender is the same but the medium is noisy, a user. He will read an alphanumeric code of length 6 and later input the same code to identify a resource. A good use for a error correcting code, I thought, and rather than do the research I thought I'd just put the question out there. Or I might be going about it the wrong way, since the situation is rather like sending a perfect dictionary along with every transmission. The requirements on the code are simply: 6 alphanumeric digits, to start with until I run out, anyway. If the user gets it wrong I should still be able to identify the right resource. No resource is preferable to the wrong one. Easy to code or have free libraries for .net Any suggestions?

• Jquery Ajax not receiving php response correctly

• Why does placing this html within form tags change the layout?

  I'm using this free Web Template - EliteCircle and have just incorporated it into a master page. The master page wraps the html in: <form id="form1" runat="server"> //master page html </form> The template almost comes out fine except the entire page is surrounded by a think white border (default CSS behavior for form?) and the footer background is half white on the very bottom. I wouldn't expect the form with id=form1 to change anything in the layout. There is nothing in the [CSS][2] with that id. When I remove the form tags from the master page (just to check) the layout is perfect, no problems. Any ideas? • Are self-described / auto-descriptive services loosely or tightly coupled in a SOA architecture ?

  I consider a self-described / auto-descriptive service as a good thing in a SOA architecture, since (almost) everything you know to call the service is present in the service contract (such a WSDL). Sample of a non self-described service for me is Facebook Query Language (FQL http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/FQL), or any web service exchanging XML flow in a one String parameter for then parsing XML and performing treatments. Last ones seem further more technically decoupled, since technically you can switch implementations without technical impact on the caller, handling compatibility between implementations/versions at a business level. On the other side, having no strong interface (diluted into the service and its version), make the service tightly coupled to the existing implementation (more difficulty to interchange the service and to ensure perfect compatibility). • Google maps z-index problem in IE

  I'm loading my google maps into div class="extra" style="display: none;" /. As soon as the AJAX request is complete, the map_canvas div is placed inside the hidden div and the hidden div will be vissible with the toggleDown jquery effect. In FF it's working perfect, but in IE the Google maps (map_canvas div) is already visible before the toggleDown effect is started. I think the z-index and the relative position of the map_canvas div wich is loaded into the hidden div will place the map_canvas div on top of the hidden div. What do i have to change to make sure the map_canvas div is not on top of the hidden div?   Hey Guys, I have made one project in java. Now in this particular module, i am showing the user , so i am showing them a stock inventory. Now for doing this. As you will see in the screen shot [ i have put screenshot so you can understand well ]. To show the images , i have made one table and i have put labels in that and then i am setting the icon at the label. Now as soon as user click on the any image, then that image i put on big label. But this works perfect on mouse click but client want that , if user navigate the by keyboard arrow keys then in same should be happen. Means : User navigate by key board then it should reflect on that table [user should know that which is currently seleted ] and then as soon as the user navigate by key board arrow events and then click enter then that image should reflect on big label. • Stubborn UIButton

  I have a UIButton that is supposed to be disabled during certain phases. So, when this happens I do [myButton setEnabled:NO]; This is perfect because the button stays grayed and if clicked will not trigger its action, but... when the button is clicked even grayed, it enables again and a second click will trigger its actions (???????!!!!!!!!!!). How can that be? If the button is disabled it is supposed to be "part of the background", i.e., an image without any action. I have tried to make the button vanish using alpha but even if you click on the empty spot, it reappears after the first click and then can trigger actions after the second click... (????) Am I missing something?

• Function calls in virtual machine killing performance

  I wrote a virtual machine in C, which has a call table populated by pointers to functions that provide the functionality of the VM's opcodes. When the virtual machine is run, it first interprets a program, creating an array of indexes corresponding to the appropriate function in the call table for the opcode provided. It then loops through the array, calling each function until it reaches the end. Each instruction is extremely small, typically one line. Perfect for inlining. The problem is that the compiler doesn't know when any of the virtual machine's instructions are going to be called, as it's decided at runtime, so it can't inline them. The overhead of function calls and argument passing is killing the performance of my VM. Any ideas on how to get around this?

• Qt: default value of variable in class

  When creating my own class in Qt I would like my variables in the class to have a standard/default value if I haven't set them to anything. It would be perfect if this was possible to set in the h-file so I don't have to do it in each instance method of my class. You can see what I want to do in the code below. In the example myBool would have the value of false and myInt the value of 0 when the object have been created. Is this possible at all? • JQuery.ready is too late: How do I apply CSS Values with JQuery before Rendering?

  I want to be able to apply opacity to some elements to make them invisible only if javascript is enabled. I don't want to use display:none because I want the layout to act as if they're in the DOM, so setting opacity to 0 is perfect. I want to be able to set this initial value using Javascript, using JQuery, so I don't have to mess with browser differences on the opacity (and many other) attributes. But if I set opacity to 0 like so: $(document).ready(function() { $("#header").css("opacity", 0); $("#header").animate({opacity:1}, 500); }); ...half the time it's already visible on the screen, so it appears and disappears. How do I set these css values using JQuery before they ever can render?

Is this maybe a power saving function of the laptop? • Why can't there be an "ultimate" programming language? [closed]

  There is an uncountable sum of programming languages out there. They obviously all have their pro's and con's - but why can't there be one to "beat them all"? The main part of a programming language is it's syntax and what's possible with it. The rest are usually only a bunch of libraries, frameworks and extensions wrapped around it. So couldn't you combine all the great aspects and experiences gained from the thousands of programming languages out there to build one with a syntax that fits every task? Wouldn't it be better having only one programming language? I see only problems with the current amount of the ones in use. Why can't there be a perfect language when thinking of syntax, constructs and typing?

• Can Spring access-denied-handler refer to popup?

  I am working with Spring Security 3.1.x and have implemented method annotation securities. As I want, when I perform a certain action while being logged in as a used that doesn't have the rights, I get a 403 acces is denied in my console! Perfect! Now I would like to catch this 403, and give the user a popup with a custom message. I don't want to redirect users to a page saying that they have no rights. Is there any way the access-denied-handler of Spring can take care of a popup? Or can it only redirect to another page? Maybe there are other options for me? Thanks in advance!

• Approximate photo of a simple drawing using lines

  As an input I have a photo of a simple symbol, e.g.: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nrmsvfd0le0bkke/symbol.jpg I would like to detect the straight lines in it, like points of start and ends of the lines. In this case, assuming the top left of the symbol is (0,0), the lines would be defined like this: start end (coordinates of beginning and end of a line) 1. (0,0); (0,10) (vertical line) 2. (0,10); (15, 15) 3. (15,15); (0, 20) 4. (0,20); (0,30) How can I do it (pereferably using OpenCV)? I though about Hough lines, but they seem to be good for perfect thin straight lines, which is not the case in a drawing. I'll probably work on binarized image, too.

• Open source framework à la Microsoft Sync Framework suggestions?

  We are implementing a warehouse management system atop an open source stack (Java, web services & friends). In this system, we want to integrate many mobile devices which should also be capable of adequate online/offline functionality, e.g. preparing database inserts while a mobile device is temporarily unconnected, and performing them on the backend database when reconnected. For a .NET stack, Microsoft Sync Framework would be a perfect solution, e.g. to do database replication and hoarding. Can anyone suggest an open source alternative to the MS Sync Framework and possibly describe his experiences with it? Thanks in advance for any answers.

• m:n relationship must have properties?

  I'm doing a E/R model for a project. I finished the ER model and, for me, all is okay. Maybe not perfect, but it's okay. When I gave the ER model to my teacher, he told me this: "the m:n relations MUST HAVE some properties" He said if the m:n relationship doesn't have the properties it will be wrong. In my opinion m:n doesn't need forcer attributes to the relationship, but if you have someone that can fit in it, just put there. What do you think? Who is wrong in this, me, or my teacher? NOTE: Reading again, it seems what he said was not due to my ER diagram, but was a general statement. The diagram I gave him doesn't have relations yet, so there where just entities and atributes.
