    In a blog in Rails I want to have paths like http://mydomain.com/posts/28383/comments#21 This is the 21st comment of the 28383th post. The 21 is not an unique id, but the pair 28383, #21 is unique. How can I do this in Rails? Do I have to change the routes? the model?   • Semantic urls with dots in .net

    I'm trying to make semantic urls for search pages, but if someone use a search finished in dot, the .net engine return a 404. The request don't even get to the routing engine, so i think its something related to security or something like that. For example, the stackoverflow routes also don't work in these case: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/etc.

  • What is a better way to convert a simple sinatra app to static html pages?

    A friend of mine asked to create a static website and I found that making such site using Sinatra is a pure joy. I just wrote all my routes like this: get '/index.html' do haml :index end get '/app.css' do sass :app end .... So I was able to use layouts, and haml and sass to put site together quickly. To create the static site I used wget -r -l2 http://localhost:4567 Which did work pretty well, but I imagine there is a better way to create a static site from a Sinatra code?

    Hello, Using rails3 new routing system, is it possible to change the default :id parameter resources :users, :key => :username come out with the following routes /users/new /users/:username /users/:username/edit ...etc I'm asking because although the above example is simple, it would be really helpful to do in a current project I'm working on. Is it possible to change this parameter, and if not, is there a particular reason as to why not?

  • Get the property, as a string, from an Expression<Func<TModel,TProperty>>

    I use some strongly-typed expressions that get serialized to allow my UI code to have strongly-typed sorting and searching expressions. These are of type Expression<Func<TModel,TProperty>> and are used as such: SortOption.Field = (p => p.FirstName);. I've gotten this working perfectly for this simple case. The code that I'm using for parsing the "FirstName" property out of there is actually reusing some existing functionality in a third-party product that we use and it works great, until we start working with deeply-nested properties(SortOption.Field = (p => p.Address.State.Abbreviation);). This code has some very different assumptions in the need to support deeply-nested properties. As for what this code does, I don't really understand it and rather than changing that code, I figured I should just write from scratch this functionality. However, I don't know of a good way to do this. I suspect we can do something better than doing a ToString() and performing string parsing. So what's a good way to do this to handle the trivial and deeply-nested cases? Requirements: Given the expression p => p.FirstName I need a string of "FirstName". Given the expression p => p.Address.State.Abbreviation I need a string of "Address.State.Abbreviation" While it's not important for an answer to my question, I suspect my serialization/deserialization code could be useful to somebody else who finds this question in the future, so it is below. Again, this code is not important to the question - I just thought it might help somebody.   • ASP.NET MVC not serving default document

    I have an ASP.NET MVC application where the default page should be an index.html. I can browse to the file using www.mydomain.com/index.html but if I use www.mydomain.com I get a 404. I have check to see if the default document is correctly set in IIS7 and it is and I have even commented out all my routes to ensure it isn't that. Does anyone know how to get ASP.NET MVC to serve the default document?

  • Rails & Twilio: Receiving nil when storing texts received from Twilio

    I have set up the request URL in my Twilio account to have it POST to: myurl.com/receivetext. It appears to be successfully posting because when I check the database using the Heroku console I see the following: Post id: 5, body: nil, from: nil, created_at: "2012-06-14 17:28:01", updated_at: "2012-06-14 17:28:01" Why is it receiving nil for the body and from attributes? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! The created and updated at are storing successfully but the two attributes that I care about continue to be stored as nil. Here's the Receive Text controller which is receiving the Post request from Twilio: class ReceiveTextController < ApplicationController def index @post=Post.create!(body: params[:Body], from: params[:From]) end end EDIT: When I dump the params I receive the following: "{\"controller\"=\"receive_text\", \"action\"=\"index\"}" I attained this by inserting the following into my ReceiveText controller. @params = Post.create!(body: params.inspect, from: "Dumping Params") and then opening up the Heroku console to find the database entry with from = "Dumping Params". I simulated a Twilio request with a curl with the following command curl -X POST myurl.com/receivetext route -d 'AccountSid=AC123&From=%2B19252411234' I checked the production database again and noticed that the curl request did work when obtaining the FROM atribute. It stored the following: params.inspect returned "{\"AccountSid\"=\"AC123\", \"From\"=\"+19252411234\", \"co..." I received a comment stating: "As long as twilio is hitting the same URL with the same method (GET/POST) it should be filling the params array as well" I have no idea how to make this comment actionable. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm very new to rails. Here's my database migration (I have both attributes set to string.   • Condensing/abstracting the path shown on each line in PowerShell

    I've started using virtualenv for my Python projects. Since the working directory for my projects is now deeply nested, the path has started to take up half of my screen! Is it possible to somehow have PowerShell condense the path to the current working directory, from something like C:\Users\kRON\Desktop\Current work\Python\dsp\src to C:\Users\kRON\Deskto~1\Curren~2\Python\dsp\src or, better yet, to match C:\Users\kRON\Desktop\Current work\Python\and just replace it with ~python\?

Should I setup a controller and non-resource routes that handle the search and store the data in a custom table; or should I create a resource for queries with a resource route and an additional path for search?
