  • How to immediately terminate crashed application?

    - by FractalizeR
Hello. I have an application that sometimes causes exceptions. And I need to restart it if it crashed. But the problem is, that I have Windows 7 here and when application crashes, Windows shows me nice dialog box with a suggestion to close the application. But the application itself is still running until I click "Close". How to get rid of this Window and make application terminate immediately without any dialog boxes?

  • Two PickerViews in save View issue?

    - by NextRev
I'm trying to have 2 pickerviews in the same view. It works except for two things. If one pickerview has more rows than the other the app crashes when picking an item from the pickerview with more items. Also I created an NSLog for the pickerviews and the console shows that I'm picking two items at once when in fact i'm only dealing with one pickerview. I know it sounds a bit confusing but I'm including all the code. Thank you in advance. list and list2 are NSMutableArrays list has 4 items list2 has 5 items There error: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (4) beyond bounds (4)' -(NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return 1; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return 1; } else{ return 0; } } -(NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return [list count]; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return [list2 count]; } else{ return 0; } } -(NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return [list objectAtIndex:row]; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return [list2 objectAtIndex:row]; } else{ return 0; } } - (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSLog(@"Selected item %@. • iphone app crashing when url connection connection timed out is coming

    - by satyam
I'm creating iphone app. In that, when the app starts, it connects to server and downloads few images and then proceeds with app. When app is downloading, it will show the initial splash screen. as long as my server is able to ping my iphone, its working well. but the trouble starts when my server is taking much time to respond for the NSURL request. The app is crashing with following error: Mon May 14 13:56:34 unknown Springboard[24] <Warning>: com.xxxx.xxx failed to launch in time I understood that when such issues happen with application, iphone crashes the appliation. I would like to know how much max time iphone allows app to respond to such instances. Is there any max value for that?

  • UIAlertView crashing on undocumented method

    - by morticae
Our app has been crashing with a frequency of roughly 1 in 1,500 launches due to a bug that is proving elusive. The relevant portion of the stack trace is included. It's being fired as a callback so I have no reference for where it's occurring in my own code. It looks like what's going on is there is a UIViewAnimationState object that is calling UIAlertView's private method (_popoutAnimationDidStop:finished:). Only problem is, it appears the UIAlertView has been dealloced by this point. I don't do anything weird with alert views. I throw them up, and I wait for user input. They are all shown before being released. Anyone encountered this? At this point, I'm leaning toward it being an Apple bug. • Adding OutputCache to an ASP.NET WebForm crashes my site :(

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks, When I add either one of these ... <%@ OutputCache Duration="600" Location="Any" VaryByParam="*" %> or <%@ OutputCache CacheProfile="CmsArticlesListOrItem" %> (.. and this into the web.config file...) <caching> <outputCacheSettings> <outputCacheProfiles> <add name="CmsArticlesListOrItem" duration="600" varyByParam="*" /> </outputCacheProfiles> </outputCacheSettings> <sqlCacheDependency ........ ></sqlCacheDependency </caching> my page/site crashes with the following error:- Source: System.Web ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TargetSite: System.Web.DirectoryMonitor FindDirectoryMonitor(System.String, Boolean, Boolean) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Message:System.Web.HttpException: Directory 'C:\Web Sites\My Site Foo - Main Site\Controls\InfoAdvice' does not exist. Well, i've had this site live for around 3 years and i'm pretty sure that the folders \Controls and \Controls\InfoAdvice doesn't exist on my production server. On my localhost, it sure does .. and contains a large list of ascx controls. But they don't exist on my live server. So ... what is going on here? Can anyone please help? Oh :) Before someone suggests I create those two folders and even stick a random file in those folders .. and have some random text in those random files .. i've done that and it doesn't seem to work, still :( Please Help !

  • How to generate a stacktrace when my gcc C++ app crashes

    - by KPexEA
When my c++ app crashes I would like to generate a stacktrace. I already asked this but I guess I needed to clarify my needs. My app is being run by many different users and it also runs on Linux, Windows and Macintosh ( all versions are compiled using gcc ). I would like my program to be able to generate a stack trace when it crashes and the next time the user run's it, it will ask them if it is ok to send the stack trace to me so I can track down the problem. I can handle the sending the info to me but I don't know how to generate the trace string. Any ideas?

  • Launching my deployed my app gets "has stopped working" error. How do I debug this?

    - by Brad Mathews
I deployed a VB.Net app and ran it and I get 'AppName has stopped working" "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" along with a Cancel button under Windows 7. Under XP I am only getting the option to Send the error report to Microsoft or not. There is no apparent way to hook into a debugger. I am not getting any exception data. I have put msgboxes at the very start of my code and they are not hit so it is failing before any of my code is even executing. I have checked all dependencies that I can think of. I developed the app on VS2008 Windows 7 and deploying to Windows 7 and WinXP. I need some advice - how do I debug this? Thanks, Brad

  • XCode Developer Documentation crashes after clicking any link on the startup screen

    - by Noah Sussman
I just installed XCode 3.2.1. When I open the Developer Documentation and click any link on the startup screen, XCode crashes. Has anyone run into this problem? Also hints as to how to debug would be excellent -- I've only been using XCode for a week. I can still get into the documentation if I open some code and then right-click a symbol and choose "Find in Documentation." But its annoying that I can't just open the docs and browse them.

  • Shark tool on iphone crashes

    - by Joey
Hi, I am trying to use Shark to profile my app. However, it crashes after I hit "stop" and it analyzes and then goes to "load session". Only once when I decided not to select my app but chose to target "everything" did it actually display some trace. However, I could not reproduce this case. Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong? Could it be something to do with the wrong version of Shark or my SDK or some other detail? I have the latest SDK and am running 3.1.3 on the phone. The various documentation I've found on google or via Apple's docs don't seem to be terribly helpful, so if anyone has found some that's useful, I'd love to see it. Thanks.

  • User control always crashes Visual Studio

    - by NickAldwin
I'm trying to open a user control in one of our projects. It was created, I believe, in VS 2003, and the project has been converted to VS2008. I can view the code fine, but when I try to load the designer view, VS stops responding and I have to close it with the task manager. I have tried leaving it running for several minutes, but it does not do anything. I ran "devenv /log" but didn't see anything unusual in the log. I can't find a specific error message anywhere. Any idea what the problem might be? Is there a lightweight editing mode I might be able to use or something? The reason I need to have a look at the visual representation of this control is to decide where to insert some new components. I've tried googling it and searching SO, but either I don't know what to search or there is nothing out there about this. Any help is appreciated. (The strangest thing is that the user control seems to load fine in another project which references, but VS crashes as soon as I even so much as click on it in that project.)

  • Problem with Scrolling UITableView

    - by HiGuy Smith
Hello, I have a navigation-based application that has a scrolling UITableView filled with the contents of a directory. Somehow, when I try to scroll a new cell into view, the application crashes. I have determined that it goes down to these lines of code in - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {: NSString *cellText = [contentArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = cellText; Now why this is crashing, I don't know. contentArray is a NSArray with the table data. If you need a bit more code to tell: - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [contentArray count]; } Please help me with this problem, HiGuy

  • How to find out who's causing an access violation error?

    - by Fernando
I'm getting reports that my app is causing a GPF on some Vista machines. The error message is something like this: access violation at 0x75784062 ( tried to write to 0x00000006) In order to fix this, I first need to know exactly who is causing this GPF: my main exe, some third party component, one of my own activex components, a dll, etc... How can I find this out? What tools can pinpoint the exact module that caused this mess? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS My app is coded in VB6 and my activex controls are written in Delphi 2007.

  • When my UIViewController accesses an NSArray in my AppDelegate from an IBAction it crashes the progr

    - by JasonClark
I have a couple UIViewControllers that I am trying to access an array inside my AppDelegate. When I use an IBAction UIButton and in that method I access my AppDelegate my program dies silently. Nothing in output or the debugger, it just stops. If I run it several times I can see that it is failing to access the array properly. To investigate this problem I created a very basic app. In my AppDelegate.h I declared and set properties for the array #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @class MyViewController; @interface MyAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; MyViewController *viewController; NSArray *images; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *images; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet MyViewController *viewController;` In the AppDelegate.m I synthesised and initialized the NSArray (Also made sure the images were added to the Resources folder). @synthesize images; - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { images = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"bamboo_nw" ofType:@"jpg"], ..... nil]; NSLog(@"init images size:%i",[images count]); [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } In my UIViewController.h I added class, imported header file, declared, and set properties for my AppDelegate pointer. #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "MyAppDelegate.h" @class MyAppDelegate; @interface MyViewController : UIViewController { MyAppDelegate *mainDelegate; IBOutlet UIButton mybutton; } @property (nonatomic, retain) MyAppDelegate mainDelegate; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIButton *mybutton; -(IBAction) doSomething;` In my UIViewController.m I synthesize and assign my AppDelegate. I set up an IBAction that will log the same count of the NSArray from the AppDelegate. #import "MyViewController.h" #import "MyAppDelegate.h" @implementation MyViewController @synthesize mybutton; - (void)viewDidLoad { mainDelegate = (MyAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSLog(@"vdl images size:%i",[mainDelegate.images count]); [super viewDidLoad]; } -(IBAction) doSomething { NSLog(@"ds images size:%i",[mainDelegate.images count]); } I print the size of the NSArray in the AppDelegate when I create it, in the ViewController when I first assign my AppDelegate pointer, and then as a result of my IBAction. I find that everytime I hit the button the program dies. On the third time I hit the button, I saw that it ran my IBAction but printed my array size as 1 instead of 8. Am I missing something? Also, why don't I get stack traces or anything, the debugger just dies silently? Thanks in advance for any help! • SIGABRT on iPhone when changing xib

    - by Boz
I've just finished off an app for the iPhone which, until today, ran fine on the iPhone simulator and actual devices. I tried changing the xib which is loaded in the applicationDidFinishLaunching method in my application delegate class - all I did was change the string in initWithNibName. When I launch the app on the simulator, the Default.png image is shown, then the app crashes with an uncaught exception. When running on a device, the Default.png image is shown for about 10 seconds, the UI is never loaded and I get 'GDB: Program received signal: "SIGABRT".' on the Xcode status bar. Debugging shows that applicationDidFinishLaunching is never actually reached before the app crashes. Setting the starting xib back to the original solves the issue, but now I've made a change and saved it in the Interface Builder and the app shows the same issues as above - I've made no code changes at all. Is this a memory issue, or a known issue of a common mistake? NOTE: I've made no code changes whatsoever, and the only changes I've made to the xib are cosmetic, the IBOutlets are all intact.
