  A new release of the Sun Rack II capacity calculator is available on eSTEP portal. The tool calculates all the data necessary (power requirements, BTU, number of rack units, needed power outlets etc.) while inserting the many different kind of HW equipment in aSun Rack II cabinet (version 1000 and 1200). It takes into consideration most of the available servers, storage devices, tapes, and Netra products. There are also a couple of third party products which are taken into account. • 12.04 Screen goes OFF and ON and hangs

  i have installed ubuntu 12.04. while i'm using the screen goes off, comes back on (during which time, the system is not responsive) and this process repeats one more time in immediate succession after which the computer is responsive again. sometimes the system hangs indefinitely. sometimes the windows go blank. only the title bars are seen. i have tried re-installing the OS three times with no improvements. i have tried both 32 bit as well as 64 bit. i have no idea what the problem is and have tried hard to pin point that. i never had this prob till 11.10 my system config is as follow processor - 2nd gen intel core i7 (2660k) graphics - intel onboard HD graphics 3000 (no external graphics card) RAM - 4GB none of my friends seem to experience this problem. it really gets annoying as it happens really often. please advice

• WPF, PreviewKeyDown event and underscore char

  Hi, I'm catching key hits with PreviewKeyDown event in my WPF component. I need to distinguish characters being typed: letters vs. numbers vs. underscore vs. anything else. Letters and numbers work fine (just convert the Key property of the KeyEventArgs object to string and work with character 0 of that string), but this won't work for underscore. It's ToString value depends on localized keyboard settings (it shows up as "OemMinus" on EN/US keyboard and "OemQuestion" on CZ/QWERTY keyboard). So how can I RELIABLY find out, if the typed char is underscore in the PreviewKeyDown event? Thanks for any help

  I'm trying to implement a genetic algorithm that will calculate the minimum of the Rastrigin functon and I'm having some issues. I need to represent the chromosome as a binary string and as the Rastrigin's function takes a list of numbers as a parameter, how can decode the chromosome to a list of numbers? Also the Rastrigin's wants the elements in the list to be -5.12<=x(i)<=5.12 what happens if when i generate the chromosome it will produce number not in that interval? I'm new to this so help and explanation that will aid me in understanding will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

• MS Chart control with WPF C#

  Hello, Ive got a MS Chart control and it works just fine except that I can't figure out how to "format" the Y-Axis. I am adding a lot of double numbers into a Serie but when the double numb are actually whole numbers (20.000000.....) the Y-Axis on my chart shows 20. example: this serie : 12.32 11.00 10.13 would actually show up like this: 12.32 11 10.13 I have tried formatting the data as I insert it into the serie like this: serie.Points.AddXY(date.ToString(),double[i].ToString("##.##")); but that doesn't seem to work. I've tried to search for a place to format it in Chart.Series[0].* and Chart.ChartAreas[0].* but I didn't find it there. Thanks in advance, Regards, Birgir Hrafn

  I am trying to create an application that will calculate the cost of exotic parimutuel wager costs. I have found several for certain types of bets but never one that solves all the scenarios for a single bet type. If I could find an algorithm that could calculate all the possible combinations I could use that formula to solve my other problems. Additional information: I need to calculate the permutations of groups of numbers. For instance; Group 1 = 1,2,3 Group 2 = 2,3,4 Group 3 = 3,4,5 What are all the possible permutation for these 3 groups of numbers taking 1 number from each group per permutation. No repeats per permutation, meaning a number can not appear in more that 1 position. So 2,4,3 is valid but 2,4,4 is not valid. Thanks for all the help.

• django select max field from mysql when column is varchar

  Hi, Using Django 1.1, I am trying to select the maximum value from a varchar column (in MySQL.) The data stored in the column looks like: 9001 9002 9017 9624 10104 11823 (In reality, the numbers are much bigger than this.) This worked until the numbers incremented above 10000: Feedback.objects.filter(est__pk=est_id).aggregate(sid=Max('sid')) Now, that same line would return 9624 instead of 11823. I'm able to run a query directly in the DB that gives me what I need, but I can't figure out the best way to do this in Django. The query would be: select max(sid+0) from Feedback; Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My question: i want to design a database, that will be used for a production facility of different types of products where each product has its own (number of) parameters. because i want the serial numbers to be in one tabel for overview purposes i have a problem with these different paraeters . One solution could be EAV, but it has its downsides, certainly because we have +- 5 products with every product +- 20.000 serial numbers (records). it looks a bit overkill to me... I just don't know how one could design a database so that you have an attribute in a mastertable that says: 'hey, you could find details of this record in THAT detail-table". 'in a way that you qould easely query the results) currenty i am using Visual Basic & Acces 2007. but i'm going to Visual Basic & MySQL. thanks for your help. Bob

• OpenCV's cvKMeans2 - chosing clusters

  Hi, I'm using cvKMeans2 for clustering, but I'm not sure, how it works in general - the part of choosing clusters. I thought that it set the first positions of clusters from given samples. So it means that in the end of clustering process would every cluster has at least one sample - in the output array of cluster labels will be full range of numbers (for 100 clusters - numbers 0 to 99). But as I checked output labels, I realised that some labels weren't used at all and only some were used. So, does anyone know, how it works? Or how should I use the parameters of cvKMeans2 to do what I want (cause I'm not sure if I use them right)? I'm using cvKMeans2 function also with optional parameters: cvKMeans2(descriptorMat, N_CLUSTERS, clusterLabels, cvTermCriteria( CV_TERMCRIT_EPS+CV_TERMCRIT_ITER, 10, 1.0), 1, 0, 0, clusterCenters, 0) Thanks for any advices!

• Regular expressions in findstr

  I'm doing a little string validation with findstr and its /r flag to allow for regular expressions. In particular I'd like to validate integers. The regex ^[0-9][0-9]*$ worked fine for non-negative numbers but since I now support negative numbers as well I tried ^([1-9][0-9]*|0|-[1-9][0-9]*)$ for either positive or negative integers or zero. The regex works fine theoretically. I tested it in PowerShell and it matches what I want. However, with findstr /r /c:"^([1-9][0-9]*|0|-[1-9][0-9]*)$" it doesn't. While I know that findstr doesn't have the most advanced regex support (even below Notepad++ which is probably quite an achievement), I would have expected such simple expressions to work. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?

• Asp.net text box is only returning the first value

  C sharp newbie question...I have a simple asp.net form that has a textbox that collects phonenumbers to send SMS messages. If I bypass the form and hardcode the numbers using the following format: "2133211234",#1233211234" the code works fine. However when i try to use this same format using my form, the sms will ONLY send to the first number. I have a feeling i'm missing out on some property on my form that will accept all of the values. also any idea how how i can add some lines of code that will allow users to enter numbers like this: 3123211234,4123212344 and have it converted to the format above when the number is submitted?   Hi everyone, In Linux. There is an srand() function, where you supply a seed and it will guarantee the same sequence of pseudorandom numbers in subsequent calls to the random() function afterwards. Lets say, I want to store this pseudo random sequence by remembering this seed value. Furthermore, let's say I want the 100 thousandth number in this pseudo random sequence later. One way, would be to supply the seed number using srand(), and then calling random() 100 thousand times, and remembering this number. Is there a better way of skipping all 99,999 other numbers in the pseudo random list and directly getting the 100 thousandth number in the list. thanks, m

  hi i read the file as follows fscanf(fp,"%f %f %f",&*(p1+i), &*(p2+i), &*(p3+i)); my file's lines consists of three floating point numbers... the problem i have is that in the file let's say i have some floating points with let's say maximum of two digits after the dot. but when i ask c to print those values using different formatting, for example %lf,%.2lf,%.4lf... it starts to play with the digits... my only concern is this, if i have let's say 1343.23 in the file, then will c use this value exactly as it is in computations or it will play with the digits after the dot. if it will play, then how is it possible to make it so that it uses floating point numbers exactly as they are? for example in last case even if i ask it to print that value using %.10lf i would expect it to print only 1343.2300000000.? thanks a lot!

  I have two mysql queries that return a column of phone numbers. I want am trying to end up with a list of phone numbers that are in one list, but not in the other. So the two queries I have are: SELECT phone FROM civicrm_phone phone LEFT JOIN civicrm_participant participant ON phone.contact_id = participant.contact_id WHERE phone.is_primary = 1 AND participant.id IS NULL and SELECT phone FROM civicrm_phone phone LEFT JOIN civicrm_participant participant ON phone.contact_id = participant.contact_id WHERE phone.is_primary = 1 AND participant.id IS NOT NULL And before anyone asks, the above two queries do not provide mutually exclusive results (based on using IS NULL and IS NOT NULL for the last WHERE statement), since we have related individuals in the database who use the same phone number, but do not necessarily all have a participant.id. • Why are my "tel:" links not working

  I have a tableView which has cells with phone numbers. The app is not dialing the numbers though. The weird thing is, if I change the last statement to this: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"tel:171"]]; the phone dials the number 171 without any issue
