  • How to use a Visual C++ .Net String type as argument in a function

    - by stefangachter
    Probably this is not a difficult question, but I am always a little bit confused on how to treat String type as an argument in Visual C++. I have the following to functions: void function_1(String ^str_1) { str_1 = gcnew String("Test"); } void function_2() { String ^str_2 = nullptr; function_1(str_2); } After calling function_1, str_2 is still equal to null, but what I want to achieve is that str_2 is equal to Test. So, how can I achieve that the content of str_1 is passed to function_2? Thanks for any advice.

  • step attribute not working with HTML5 <input type="range"> on Safari

    - by Claudiu
    Are there known issues with range inputs not working fully on Safari? I have the following input element: <input type=?"range" min=?"0" max=?"360" step=?"0.0001" value=?"0">? On Chrome, the input goes according to the step variable. On Safari, it only goes by integer values. Even setting the step to 10 still makes it go by increments of 1. I'm confused because I thought Chrome and Safari both used WebKit.

  • Incompatible type in assignment

    Getting error: Incompatible type in assignment at fValue = ..., see the code static float t = 0; float d = .5; static float fValue = 0; fValue = [self easeOutBounce:t andB:0 andC:30 andD:d]; here is the method -(float) easeOutBounce:(float)t andB:(float)b andC:(float)c andD:(float)d { if ((t/=d) < (1/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*t*t) + b; } else if (t < (2/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*(t-=(1.5/2.75))t + .75) + b; } else if (t < (2.5/2.75)) { return c(7.5625*(t-=(2.25/2.75))t + .9375) + b; } else { return c(7.5625*(t-=(2.625/2.75))*t + .984375) + b; } }

  • session variable not available in global before(:each, :type => :controller)

    - by Rob
    Hi, I'm refactoring some specs, in controller specs I have a before(:each) which sets up things required in the session my before filter is... config.before(:each, :type => :controller) do ... session[:current_user] = @user session[:instance] = @instance ... end @user and @instance are also set in the before(:each) i've just hidden them for readability here I get the following error when running the controller tests undefined method `session' for nil:NilClass I would expect the global before callbacks to have the same things as the ones in the individual tests but I guess maybe they are loaded before the rails environment has been initialised? Thanks

  • Type casting problem with java for-each loop

    - by pharma_joe
    Hi, I have traced an issue with an application I am developing, it is giving me a type cast exception. Funny thing is it is saying it cannot cast "entities.Movie cannot be cast to entities.Movie"?! movies is an ArrayList. try { movies = getMovies(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(System.out); } finally { try { for (Movie movie : movies) { output.append(" <tr>\n"); output.append(" <td>" + movie.getId() + "</td>"); output.append(" </tr>\n"); } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(System.out); } }

  • How can I create an enum using numbers?

    - by Jordan S
    Is it possible to make an enum using just numbers in C#? In my program I have a variable, Gain, that can only be set to 1, 2, 4, and 8. I am using a propertygrid control to display and set this value. If I were to create an enum like this... private enum GainValues {One, Two, Four, Eight} and I made my gain variable of type GainValues then the drop-down list in the propertygrid would only show the available values for the gain variable. The problem is I want the gain values to read numerically an not as words. But I can not create an enum like this: private enum GainValues {1,2,4,8} So is there another way of doing this? Perhaps creating a custom type?

  • Strange type in c++

    - by Cemre
    I have a method with the prototype: bool getAssignment(const Query& query, Assignment *&result); I am a bit confused about the type of the second param (Assignment *&result) since I don't think I have seen something like that before. It is used like: Assignment *a; if (!getAssignment(query, a)) return false; Is it a reference to a pointer or the other way around ? or neither ? Any explanation is appreciated. Thanks.

  • assignment from incompatible pointer type

    - by Hristo
    I have set up the following struct: typedef struct _thread_node_t { pthread_t thread; struct thread_node_t *next; } thread_node_t; ... and then I have defined: // create thread to for incoming connection thread_node_t *thread_node = (thread_node_t*) malloc(sizeof(thread_node_t)); pthread_create(&(thread_node->thread), NULL, client_thread, &csFD); thread_node->next = thread_arr; // assignment from incompatible pointer type thread_arr = thread_node; where thread_arr is thread_node_t *thread_arr = NULL; I don't understand why the compiler is complaining. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something.

  • c# - best way to initialize an array of reference type object

    - by lidong
    I wonder if there is better way to initialize an array of reference type object, like this. Queue<int>[] queues = new Queue<int>[10]; for (int i = 0; i < queues.Length; i++) { queues[i] = new Queue<int>(); } I tried Enumerable.Repeat, but all elements in the array refer to same instance, Queue<int>[] queues = Enumerable.Repeat(new Queue<int>(), 10).ToArray(); I also tried Array.ForEach, but it doesn't work without ref keyword: Queue<int>[] queues = Array.ForEach(queues, queue => queue = new Queue<int>()); any other idea?

  • Should I convert data arrays to objects in PHP in a CouchDB/Ajax app?

    - by karlthorwald
    I find myself converting between array and object all the time in PHP application that uses couchDB and Ajax. Of course I am also converting objects to JSON and back (for sometimes couchdb but mostly Ajax), but this is not so much disturbing my workflow. At the present I have php objects that are returned by the CouchDB modules I use and on the other hand I have the old habbit to return arrays like array("error"="not found","data"=$dataObj) from my functions. This leads to a mixed occurence of real php objects and nested arrays and I cast with (object) or (array) if necessary. The worst thing is that I know more or less by heart what a function returns, but not what type (array or object), so I often run into type errors. My plan is now to always cast arrays to objects before returning from a function. Of course this implies a lot of refactoring. Is this the right way to go? What about the conversion overhead? Other ideas or tips?

  • Reverse Data With BIT TYPE for MS SQL

    - by Milacay
    I have a column using a BIT type (1/0). I have some records are set to 1 and some are set to 0. Those are record flag needs to be reversed. So basically, I want all records with 1 set 0, and all records with 0 set to 1. If I run "Update Table1 Set Flag = 1 Where Flag = 0" first, then I am afraid all record flags will be 1 now, and will not able to know which ones are flag = 0. any suggestions, Thanks!

  • Find -type d with no subfolders

    - by titatom
    Good morning ! This is a simple one I believe, but I am still a noob :) I am trying to find all folders with a certain name. I am able to do this with the command find /path/to/look/in/ -type d | grep .texturedata The output gives me lots of folders like this : /path/to/look/in/.texturedata/v037/animBMP But I would like it to stop at .texturedata : /path/to/look/in/.texturedata/ I have hundreds of these paths and would like to lock them down by piping the output of grep into chmod 000 I was given a command with the argument -dpe once, but I have no idea what it does and the Internet has not be able to help me determine it's usage Thanks you very much for your help !

  • C++ Boost bind value type {solved}

    - by aaa
    hello. I look in documentation and source code but cannot figure out how to get return value type of boost bind functor. I am trying to accomplish following: 35 template<typename T,size_t N, class F> 36 boost::array<typename F::value_type, N> make_array(T (&input)[N], F unary) { 37 boost::array<typename F::value_type, N> array; 38 std::transform(input, input + N, array.begin(), unary); 39 return array; 40 } where F can be bind functor. the above does not work because functor does not have value_type. for that matter, is there standard interface for unary/binary functor as far as return value. solution: it should be result_type. also equivalent defined are argument_type and first/second_argument_type for binary functions Thanks

  • Add list type to association

    - by teucer
    Hi All, I am using the eUML2 (Free version) plugin to draw a UML class diagram. Now, let's assume I have a class Person and a class Car. I want the class Person to have a member cars which is a List<Car>, i.e. private List<Car> cars = null. My question is how do I include this information in the class diagram? To be more precise, how do I include the type information for the List in the eUML2 association? Regards

  • python array.array with strings as data type

    - by Gladius
    Is there an object that acts like array.array, yet can handle strings (or character arrays) as its data type? It should be able to convert the string array to binary and back again, preferably with null terminated strings, however fixed length strings would be acceptable. >>> my_array = stringarray(['foo', 'bar']) >>> my_array.tostring() 'foo\0bar\0' >>> re_read = stringarray('foo\0bar\0') >>> re_read[:] ['foo', 'bar'] I will be using it with arrays that contain a couple million strings.

  • Easy way to cast an object array into another type in C#

    - by Na7coldwater
    I want to be able to be able to quickly cast an array of objects to a different type, such as String, but the following code doesn't work: String[] a = new String[2]; a[0] = "Hello"; a[1] = "World"; ArrayList b = new ArrayList(a); String[] c = (String[]) b.ToArray(); And I don't want to have to do this: String[] a = new String[2]; a[0] = "Hello"; a[1] = "World"; ArrayList b = new ArrayList(a); Object[] temp = b.ToArray(); Object[] temp = b.ToArray(); String[] c = new String[temp.Length]; for(int i=0;i<temp.Length;i++) { c[i] = (String) temp[i]; } Is there an easy way to do this without using a temporary variable?

  • Can't type anything in inputs or textareas

    - by dev reactive.by
    Hello, I have a problem: I've add a Jquery UI drag-n-drop widget to my page, but after that I can't type anything into inputs or textareas. I use jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8rc3, and tiny_mce for convert textareas into WYSIWUG editor (I've tried to disable tiny_mce). When I put $("input").click( function(){ alert('clicked!'); }); - it's working(I have an alert). When I get focused to any input I even can't refresh page by F5 and go to the next element by Tab key. There's a page: http://cms.reactive.by/test.htm (click to clip2net.com/clip/m7787/1269022358-clip-3kb.png to see that jQuery UI is workong) And yes.. there's no errors in FireBug. I hope You can help me to understand what's wrong with this code.

  • Throwing special type of exception to terminate unit test

    - by trendl
    Assume I want to write a unit test to test a particular piece of functionality that is implemented within a method. If I wanted to execute the method completely, I would have to do some extra set up work (mock objects expectations etc.). Instead of doing that I use the following approach: - I set up the expectations I'm interested in verifying and then make the tested method throw a special type of exception (e.g. TerminateTestException). - Further down in the unit test I catch the exception and verify the mock object expectations. It works fine but I'm not sure it is good practice. I do not do this regularly, only in cases where it saves me time and effort. One thing that comes to mind as an argument against using this is that throwing exceptions takes long time so the tests execute slower than if I used a different approach.

  • Force type of C++ template

    - by gregseth
    Hi, I've a basic template class, but I'd like to restrain the type of the specialisation to a set of classes or types. e.g.: template <typename T> class MyClass { .../... private: T* _p; }; MyClass<std::string> a; // OK MYCLass<short> b; // OK MyClass<double> c; // not OK Those are just examples, the allowed types may vary. Is that even possible? If it is, how to do so? Thanks.

  • EF Stored Procedure Complex Type

    - by Web Dev
    I am using EF4. I am somewhat confused on on the Entity Framework Complex name. When I go to Functional Import of a Stored Procedure name and it ask me to type in the Complex name, is that supposed to be the name of of a class that can handle that output. For examle, say if my stored procedure returns FirstName, LastName. Is the Complex name supposed to be a class that can handle that output in this case PersonName? public class PersonName { public string FirstName {get; set;} public string LastName {get;set} }

  • Write a tree class in Java where each level has a unique object type

    - by user479576
    I need to write a tree class in Java where each level has a unique object type. The way it is written below does not take advantage of generics and causes alot of duplicate code. Is there a way to write this with Generics ? public class NodeB { private String nodeValue; //private List<NodeB> childNodes; // constructors // getters/setters } public class NodeA { private String value; private List<NodeB> childNodes; // constructors // getters/setters } public class Tree { private String value; private List<NodeA> childNodes; // constructors // tree methods }
