  • Member of local Administrators group cannot elevate

    Hi We have just installed the first Windows 7 (professional) workstation in our domain. Its primary user has been added to the local (computer's) Administrators group (computername\Administrators). Still, whenever elevation is needed, his credentials are not accepted, and he is never allowed to act as an administrator. For example, he cannot write a file to C:\ (not that he needs to, but it illustrates the problem). Putting him in the domain's Administrators group doesn't help either (anyway we'd rather not do that). I suspect that he may be the victim of some policy that controls elevation, but can't seem to find it. Can anyone shed some light?

    i have ubuntu 10.04 and virtual box running win xp now i want to test my page layout in ie so i want to access apache from with in my virtual box how can i set up this with out additional networking on the host (i.e. i want to have some kind'a peer to peer connection between the host and the guest) EDIT: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.0.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 and for the win xp i gave a static ip address 192.168.0.200 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1

  • Oracle sysman password reset and enterprise manager

    We are running oracle 10g.yesterday we had to reset sysman(and all other sys acounts)user with alter user command. Password change command worked by oracle enterprise manager does not see the database running. As per oracle docs,we did change the password(and encryption setting) and restarted the dbconsole service. Password does get encrypted after restarted but em still does not see the database online. Are we missing any other important step? Thanks Aboxy

  • Trying to setup virtual hosts on unix PHP on nginx

    I have tried to install php5-fpm and Nginx on Ubuntu machine, but I got a problem. When I have only one virtual host on a unix port it is all fine but when I try to add another virtual host Nginx goes to default web page "Welcome to Nginx!" but when I run it on a tcp port example port 9000 it work fine with multisites. It is a fresh install of ubuntu 11.10, Nginx 1.2.3 with php5-fpm installed. It also has extra php installs such as php-apc. I can only give the links to the virtual hosts because I am doing it from a mobile phone.     A friend of mine has been asked to start experimenting with migrating VMs from Vmware Lab Manager to vCloud. We know the machines/labs have to be undeployed and consolidated, which is done for this testing lab. However, what should be the next steps to make this as efficient as possible, as we have a large number of labs to migrate. Also, the dependencies tree is huge and the consolidation process is a big thing, but we know we cannot avoid this. Thanks :-)

For example: I'd like to have a distro go to Help, Support, and IT. However, I don't want the sender to know it goes to Help if they expand the distro in the To: field. I know this is most likely impossible, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

    I'm running a webserver on WS 2k3, IIS 6.0. Some of the content is on that server, but most is in a virtual directory linked to another server. Everything works (almost) fine when no SSL is used. However, when using SSL, I cannot access the files in the virtual directory. Instead I get a generic error 500. Any advice?

  • Efficient algorithm for Virtual Machine(VM) Consolidation in Cloud

    PROBLEM: We have N physical machines(PMs) each with ram Ri, cpu Ci and a set of currently scheduled VMs each with ram requirement ri and ci respectively Moving(Migrating) any VM from one PM to other has a cost associated which depends on its ram ri. A PM with no VMs is shut down to save power. Our target is to minimize the weighted sum of (N,migration cost) by migrating some VMs i.e. minimize the number of working PMs as well as not to degrade the service level due to excessive migrations. My Approach: Brute Force approach is choosing the minimum loaded PM and try to fit its VMs to other PMs by First Fit Decreasing algorithm or we can select the victim PMs and target PMs based on their loading level and shut down victims if possible by moving their VMs to targets. I tried this Greedy approach on the Data of Baadal(IIT-D cloud) but It isn't giving promising results. I have also tried to study the Ant colony optimization for dynamic VM consolidating but was unable to understand very much.   • Retry failed downloads - Google Music Manager

    After my old computer died I wanted to download my music collection from Google Music - which is very easy with Googles Music Manager. After a few hours it had downloaded my library, but also showed around 300 download errors. Downloading the library another time, however, made different files fail (Which tells me that the error isn't connected to the files as such). Does anybody know of a way how to retry only the songs that failed downloading?

As a result of this I installed apache and all the things that come associated with it, and also installed Joomla, and I got everything running well. My problem is, I need to make apache run this website locally, so I downloaded the public_html folder from the FTP server on my website, but I have absolutely no idea how to implement the website in order to make it run on apache. I've read a few guides, but they all tell me how to create a new website instead of helping me host a website already done.

    I'm a CS uni student in a country with limited bandwidth, and I find that I download files (particularly install files) for reuse\reinstallation\giving to my friends.. I've kept these files in different folders, and now find it extremely hard to find them, and keeping track of obselete files (the almost weekly releases of iTunes versions, or latest 7zip release or the .Net framework installers). What I would like to find is a file manager that could support tags, so instead of hierachical folders, i could find\view files according to their tags...
