  • Basic SQL Select in Postgresql fails

    I am doing a select * on a postgresql table, and everything looks good. But if I do: SELECT Name from People It says: ERROR: column People.Name does not exist SQL state: 42703 Character: 8 But the name column shows up during select *. I've tried: SELECT People.Name from People as well, with the same result. Am I missing something? It should be pretty easy to do this in any other database.

Specifically, I'm looking for something that allows me to auto-generate the database models by specifying my classes in the controller and what not.     I'd like to have a dataset or datatables, and be able to run SQL statements on them, without using any external RDBMS. For Example, to take take 2 datatables in a dataset and just join them outright with a SQL statement and Where clause, the result being a new datatable? For example if I have 2 datatables, named People and Addresses in a dataset (that I built using code, not getting from a database .. pardon the old fashioned Join syntax): dim dtJoined as DataTable = MyDataSet.RunSQLQuery ("Select * from People, Orders Where People.PersonID=Orders.OrdereID") Thanks

    Hi All, Is it possible to bind a label content to two values. For eg, I want a single label whose content is displayed as below, UserName= Firstname, Lastname where Firstname and Lastname, both are values from database. If I would be using to labels I would bind as Content={Binding Firstname} for one and Content={Binding Lastname} for another. But I want a single label to display both. Is it possible?

    Currently I am migrating MSSQL to MYSQL.I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to connect to mysql using odbc connectivity.I have telugu language charectors stored in the table.They are not showing properly while using the mysql odbc driver, but they are showing up properly while using the sqlserver odbc driver.     I am using Microsoft Access 2007 to move and massage some data between two SQL Servers. Yesterday everything was working correctly, I was able to run queries, update data, and delete data. Today I opened up the Access database to finish my data migration and am now receiving the following message when I try to run some update queries: The action or event has been blocked by Disabled Mode. Any ideas what this is talking about?

I need to store the session data in a mysql database, cause we're balancing the request among 2 servers, so regular sessions wont work...   • asp:upload postedfile lost during postback

    I am using an asp:upload control to upload an image and am using the postedfile property to insert the path to the database. In my form I have a dropdown with autopostback=true where the user can select a topic to populate a checkbox list of categories. During that postback, the postedfile value is being lost and after a little research I have discovered that the posted file value is not maintained in viewstate for security reasons. Has anybody else found out how to get around this?

    What's the best way to add foreign keys to my existing tables in Rails with an underlying MySQL database? clearly the solution should be done in a migration, as I want this versioned. Otherwise I'd create the constraints myself. I can't seem to find one, conducive response to they above. Again, the tables have already been created with previous migrations. I'm just going back now and adding referential integrity wherever it's applicable.

  • mySQL - One large query vs Ajax indivdual queries

    Hi guys, I guess no one will have a definative answer to this but considered predictions would be appriciated. I am in the process of developing a mySQL database for a web application and my question is: Is it more efficient to make a single query that returns a single row using AJAX or To request 100 - 700 rows when the user will likely only ever use the results of two or three? Really I am asking what is heavier for the server 2-3 requests with one result or 1 request with 100 - 700 results? Thanks, Mark
