    Hi There is this weird problem going on with putting ssl on the server I keep on getting this error in the terminal after I already created the .key and .crt files but it keeps on saying I placed the files in the conf.d directory and I already configured the thing so there is something that I did wrong there I also used openssl to create a .key and the .crt files thanks for the help if anyone can service apache2 reload Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/conf.d/www.domainname.crt Invalid command '-----BEGIN', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Action 'conftest' failed.   • Under an Xampp install, I modify the apache httpd-vhosts.conf file and then my Apache server will not start

    I have read all the articles but still must be doing something wrong... I modified the httpd-vhosts.conf file to access the project I am working on... I have tried many different configurations and none work. My apache service will not start (I am on Windows 7)... any ideas would be helpful - here is the code I added to the conf file: DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs" ServerName localhost DocumentRoot C:/xampp/htdocs/socengv1" ServerName socengv1.local I have also tried this with NameVirtualHost *:80 command with no difference to note.

    I have a quick question but I've been struggling to find the best solution: I have two java webapps and wordpress (php) that I need to serve through my Prod website: App #1 should be accessed when pointing to www.example.com/ (this would have other url too such as "www.example.com/book") App #2 should be accessed when pointing to www.example.com/manage Finally WordPress would be accessed at www.example.com/info How can I configure apache to serve all these three instances at the same time? So far I have and it's not quite working right. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!     Im running ubuntu 12.04 lts 2gb ram 500gb hdd. My hdd have 4 partitions. Partition 1 = 40 gb Windows (NTFS, lable = win32) Partition 2 = 320 gb Windows (FAT label = common) Partition 3 = 40 gb Ubuntu (EXT4) I installed apached2 now to change its default www directory, I used 'gksu gedit /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default' and chaged to /media/common/www After all I run in terminal chmod 777 /media/common/www chmod 777 /media/common/www/. After that I type in firefox 127.0.0.1/index.php It says "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at 127.0.0.1 Port 80" Before my changes it was working fine. How should i run my websites???

    Hello, I'm setting up an ASP.net script in my linux machine using mod_mono. The script spawn procceses of a bin that belongs to another user, but the proccess is spawned by www-data because apache runs with that user, and i need to spawn the proccess with the user that owns the file. I tried setuid bit but it doesn't make any effect. I discovered that if I kill mod-mono-server2.exe and I run it with the user that I need, everything works right, but I want to know the proper way to do this, because after a while apache runs mod-mono-server2.exe as www-data again. Mono-Project webpage says: How can I Run mod-mono-server as a different user? Due to apache's design, there is no straightforward way to start processes from inside of a apache child as a specific user. Apache's SuExec wrapper is targeting CGI and is useless for modules. Mod_mono provides the MonoStartXSP option. You can set it to "False" and start mod-mono-server manually as the specific user. Some tinkering with the Unix socket's permissions might be necessary, unless MonoListenPort is used, which turns on TCP between mod_mono and mod-mono-server. Another (very risky) way: use a setuid 'root' wrapper for the mono executable, inspired by the sources of Apache's SuExec. I want to know how to use the setuid wrapper, because I tried adding the setuid to 'mono' bin and changing the owner to the user that I want, but that made mono crash. Or maybe a way to keep running mono-mod-server2.exe separated from apache without being closed (anyone has a script?) My environment: Debian Lenny 2.6.26-2-amd64 Mono 1.9.1 mod_mono from debian repository Dedicated server (root access and stuff) Using apache vhosts -I use mono for only that script Thanks!

  • How to remove request blocking on apache reverse proxy after failure of backend before asking backen

    I am working on an apache2 reverse proxy vhost. When the server behind apache is down, the first request to apache shows the error page of course. But at subsequent requests it seems apache delays for some time before asking the backend server again. During all this time (which is short but in development I don't want a delay at all) only the apache error page is shown to the browser, although the backend server is already up. Where is this setting in apache, what is this behaviour, and how can I set the delay time to zero? Edit: I am not trying to change the timeout for a single request. I want to change the blocking time. It is my experience that apache blocks further requests for a certain time before asking a backend server again that has failed once. Edit2: This is what apache delivers: Service Temporarily Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.     Recently I've noticed that httpd processes started to consume massive amounts of memory - after some time pretty much using almost all of the 2GB of RAM the server has and I don't have any memory left for other stuff. So they all sit at ~270MB which is BAD. Is there a way for me to know where all the memory goes and why it stays that way? I haven't done any server tweaking lately, so I'm sure it's not me who messed something up (haven't had the problem before). The server is used to serve PHP apps. EDIT: Apache is configured with prefork module and MaxRequestsPerChild is set to 4000.

error at build time, and a day of google searching has turned up other instances of this error caused by different triggers, and solutions for those propblems didn't work for me. I also found a single report on the Oracle forums that seemed to be a carbon copy of this issue, but there were no replies. The application is written in Weblogic Workshop 10, runs on Weblogic Server 10.3, and uses Beehive / NetUI. Not sure if that would make a difference or not though. The build scripts were automatically generated by Weblogic Workshop, with some tweaks and fixes made to other aspects of the files by myself to fix other compatability issues. I am using Java 1.6.0_23 from Sun, and Ant 1.8.1 Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there, I'm running a web service that will allow people to create their own "instances" of my application, running under their own domain. These people will create an A record to forward a subdomain of their main domain to my server. The problem is that my server runs everything under SSL. So in my configuration for port 80, I have the following: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName mydomain.com ServerAlias www.mydomain.com RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule /(.*) https://mydomain.com/$1 [R=301] </VirtualHost> This has worked well to forward all requests from the http: to https: domain. But as I said, I now need to let any domain automatically forward to the secure version of itself. Is there a rewrite rule that will let me take the incoming domain and rewrite it to the https version of same? So that the following matches would occur: http://some.otherdomain.com -> https://some.otherdomain.com http://evenanotherdomain.com -> https://evenanotherdomain.com Thanks for your help!     I need to save session data for a dynamic web page script by writing to file. I have two questions: Are there any security preferences as to whether to save the data UNDER the web folder, or OUTSIDE the web folder? I attempted to write to the folder an (unsuprisingly), I had a 'file permission refused' type error. Should I set the folder ownership to the apache user (600, 640 or 644?) [[Edit]] core <- 'OUTSIDE' web folder (php script live here) data <- 'OUTSIDE' web folder (session data and other misc data resides here) web <- web root folder js <- any folder below is 'INSIDE' the web folder css html For example, in a php script (i.e. a dynamic PHP page), I can attempt to write to a file using something like fput('../data',data) yet (as I understand it) ../data should not be accessible - for security reasons. Could someone please provide a simple example that shows how to provide access to ../data/ in the example given above?. What are the actual SPECIFIC steps required? BTW, I am running on a LAMP stack.

  • Apache (XAMPP 1.8.0) access.log/Intrusion Detection Concern

    [I originally posted on SO but it earned me a Tumbleweed badge. This looks like a better venue for the question.] I have Apache (XAMPP 1.8.0) running on Vista Pro x64. A couple times now I have seen a pattern like the example below in access.log. Concerning is the "attack" seems to somehow shift from a public IP to a valid private IP on my network (happens to be the WAN address of one of my routers). Two questions: How is this possible, and what happens if the "attacker" stumbles on a valid request?     I have configured virtual host in my local machine and every thing working fine . Now I want to use SEO friendly urls. To achive this I have used .htacess file .     Hi everyone! I just wanted to know if any of you had any problems using java default HttpURLConnection class. Some kind of bug that made you switch to apache commons. Or is it just the (ugly) interface that class exposes that justifies the birth of 3rd party http lib? Disclosure: I heard some arguments against java.net having some serious problems, but I'm finding hard to believe that a class that is part of the java core distribution still has issues after several releases of the JDK

    Hi, I am using jasperreport and trying to pass an alternate report runner. • net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRThreadSubreportRunner: The initial thread-based implementation • net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRContinuationSubreportRunner: A Javaflow-based implementation I am using the second one (for the reason, it runs on tomcat server, and creating threads wouldn't be good while writing subreports). The second one depends on commons-javaflow which is a sandbox version. Not sure if I should use it, Could somebody suggest a better way. Thanks
