• How to make a phone call in android and comes back to my activity when call is done

- by hap497
Hi, I am launching an activity to make a phone call, but when I pressed the 'end call' button, it does not go back to my activity. Can you please tell me how can I launch a call activity which comes back to me when 'End call' button is pressed? This is how I'm making the phone call: String url = "tel:3334444"; Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL, Uri.parse(url)); Thank you.

• REST: How to store and reuse REST call queries

- by Jason Holland
I'm learning C# by programming a real monstrosity of an application for personal use. Part of my application uses several SPARQL queries like so: const string ArtistByRdfsLabel = @" PREFIX rdf: <http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#> PREFIX rdfs: <http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#> SELECT DISTINCT ?artist WHERE {{ {{ ?artist rdf:type <http://dbpedia.org/ontology/MusicalArtist> . ?artist rdfs:label ?rdfsLabel . }} UNION {{ ?artist rdf:type <http://dbpedia.org/ontology/Band> . ?artist rdfs:label ?rdfsLabel . }} FILTER ( str(?rdfsLabel) = '{0}' ) }}"; string Query = String.Format(ArtistByRdfsLabel, Artist); I don't like the idea of keeping all these queries in the same class that I'm using them in so I thought I would just move them into their own dedicated class to remove clutter in my RestClient class. I'm used to working with SQL Server and just wrapping every query in a stored procedure but since this is not SQL Server I'm scratching my head on what would be the best for these SPARQL queries. Are there any better approaches to storing these queries using any special C# language features (or general, non C# specific, approaches) that I may not already know about? EDIT: Really, these SPARQL queries aren't anything special. Just blobs of text that I later want to grab, insert some parameters into via String.Format and send in a REST call. I suppose you could think of them the same as any SQL query that is kept in the application layer, I just never practiced keeping SQL queries in the application layer so I'm wondering if there are any "standard" practices with this type of thing.

• TypeError: Cannot call method 'hasOwnProperty' of null, while creating a QMLscene window

I am trying to make a simple Ubuntu Touch web application with Qt Creator. I have set up a new project according to the tutorial and committed the files to Bazaar. I have set a url instead of the default index.htm in the qml file of the project. • OpenGL: glGetError() returns invalid enum after call to glewInit()

- by malymato
I use GLEW and freeglut. For some reason, after a call to glewInit(), glGetError() returns error code 1280. Reinstalling the drivers didn't help. I tried to disable glewExperimental, it had no effect. Code worked before, but I am not aware of any changes I could possibly make. Here's my code: int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { GLenum GlewInitResult, res; InitWindow(argc, argv); res = glGetError(); // res = 0 glewExperimental = GL_TRUE; GlewInitResult = glewInit(); res = glGetError(); // res = 1280 glutMainLoop(); exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); } void InitWindow(int argc, char* argv[]) { glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitContextVersion(4, 0); glutInitContextFlags(GLUT_FORWARD_COMPATIBLE); glutInitContextProfile(GLUT_CORE_PROFILE); glutSetOption(GLUT_ACTION_ON_WINDOW_CLOSE, GLUT_ACTION_GLUTMAINLOOP_RETURNS); glutInitWindowPosition(0, 0); glutInitWindowSize(CurrentWidth, CurrentHeight); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_DEPTH | GLUT_DOUBLE | GLUT_RGBA); WindowHandle = glutCreateWindow(WINDOW_TITLE); GLenum errorCheckValue = glGetError(); if (WindowHandle < 1) { fprintf(stderr, "ERROR: Could not create new rendering window.\n"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } glutReshapeFunc(ResizeFunction); glutDisplayFunc(RenderFunction); glutIdleFunc(IdleFunction); glutTimerFunc(0, TimerFunction, 0); glutCloseFunc(Cleanup); glutKeyboardFunc(KeyboardFunction); } Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong? • Xna Equivalent of Viewport.Unproject in a draw call as a matrix transformation

- by Nick Crowther
I am making a 2D sidescroller and I would like to draw my sprite to world space instead of client space so I do not have to lock it to the center of the screen and when the camera stops the sprite will walk off screen instead of being stuck at the center. In order to do this I wanted to make a transformation matrix that goes in my draw call. I have seen something like this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3570192/xna-viewport-projection-and-spritebatch I have seen Matrix.CreateOrthographic() used to go from Worldspace to client space but, how would I go about using it to go from clientspace to worldspace? I was going to try putting my returns from the viewport.unproject method I have into a scale matrix such as: blah = Matrix.CreateScale(unproject.X,unproject.Y,0); however, that doesn't seem to work correctly. Here is what I'm calling in my draw method(where X is the coordinate my camera should follow): Vector3 test = screentoworld(X, graphics); var clienttoworld = Matrix.CreateScale(test.X,test.Y, 0); animationPlayer.Draw(theSpriteBatch, new Vector2(X.X,X.Y),false,false,0,Color.White,new Vector2(1,1),clienttoworld); Here is my code in my unproject method: Vector3 screentoworld(Vector2 some, GraphicsDevice graphics): Vector2 Position =(some.X,some.Y); var project = Matrix.CreateOrthographic(5*graphicsdevice.Viewport.Width, graphicsdevice.Viewport.Height, 0, 1); var viewMatrix = Matrix.CreateLookAt( new Vector3(0, 0, -4.3f), new Vector3(X.X,X.Y,0), Vector3.Up); //I have also tried substituting (cam.Position.X,cam.Position.Y,0) in for the (0,0,-4.3f) Vector3 nearSource = new Vector3(Position, 0f); Vector3 nearPoint = graphicsdevice.Viewport.Unproject(nearSource, project, viewMatrix, Matrix.Identity); return nearPoint;

• Exclusive use of a Jini server during long-running call

- by Matthew Flint
I'm trying to use Jini, in a "Masters/Workers" arrangement, but the Worker jobs may be long running. In addition, each worker needs to have exclusive access to a singleton resource on that machine. As it stands, if a Worker receives another request while a previous request is running, then the new request is accepted and executed in a second thread. Are there any best-practices to ensure that a Worker accepts no further jobs until the current job is complete? Things I've considered: synchronize the job on the server, with a lock on the singleton resource. This would work, but is far from ideal. A call from a Master would block until the current Worker thread completes, even if other Workers become free in the meantime unregister the Worker from the registry while the job is running, then re-register when it completes. Might work OK, but something doesn't smell right with this idea... Of course, I'm quite happy to be told that there are more appropriate technologies than Jini... but I wouldn't want anything too heavyweight, like rolling out EJB containers all over the place.

Now’s the time to submit your AIA or OER success story presentation abstract for review by the selection panel. Don’t delay—submit your abstract now as the Call for Papers is open through next Monday, April 9th. The competition is strong: roughly 18% of entries are accepted each year from more than 3,000 submissions. Review panels are made up of experts both internal and external to Oracle. Successful submissions often (but not exclusively) focus on customer successes, how-tos, or technical topics. What’s in it for you? Recognition, for one thing. Accepted sessions are publicized in the content catalog, which goes live in mid-June, and sessions given by external speakers often prove the most popular. • SQLAuthority News – A Quick Note on @Pluralsight Video – Call Me Maybe Developer Way

- by pinaldave
I write a lot about how important learning and training is. Any of my readers will know that I think the key to success is staying current with your education and taking very opportunity to increase your “tool kit” of skills. I hope that I have not made the impression that it is all in the employees hands to make sure they are happy and satisfied at their jobs. I also firmly believe that a good boss will make good employees. A boss who is good at communicating, and leading, who knows how to nip problem in the bud and allocate resources wisely will have a well-oiled machine. This means happy employees and a great work environment. It is important to have a healthy work environment because you will not succeed without one. Successful business will always have the type of environment that fosters creativity and has efficient employees. A healthy environment doesn’t force employees to produce results, but allows them to progress and create the results themselves. The result of a healthy work environment is that employees will enjoy their work and then work harder. This can bring the company more revenue, and hopefully the employees will see the result of their hard work in bonuses and raises. However, money is important but it is certainly secondary – the important part is the dedication of the employees to their work and to their company. This is the true key to success. Any employee who recognizes this description as their working environment should consider themselves fortunate. They are allowed to grow and do better, and employees being treated fairly can be a rarity in this world. One company that I believe adheres to this principle is Pluralsight – as evidenced by this fun video. I have blogged about it earlier. (check out my cameo at 0:37). It was great fun to work with the employees at Pluralsight while making this video. They are a great bunch and clearly have a great work environment – we wouldn’t have had this much fun if not! I have to tell you a little bit about making this video. My wife shot it with her mobile phone, which was certainly a different but exciting experience! It was hard to get the look of the video right, since I was trying to portray a body builder – this was a little outside of my own personal experience. I have what I like to call a “healthy” body type, so trying to look extremely fit like some of the other “actors” in this video was a challenge – but I do hope that you all think I succeeded. All in all, it was great fun to participate in this video and I hope to see my friends at Pluralsight again soon. • Set Covering : Runtime hang\error at function call in c

- by EnthuCrazy
I am implementing a set covering application which uses cover function int cover(set *skill_list,set *player_list,set *covering) Suppose skill_set={a,b,c,d,e}, player_list={s1,s2,s3} then output coverin ={s1,s3} where say s1={a,b,c}, s3={d,e} and s2={b,d}. Now when I am calling this function it's hanging at run (set_cover.exe stopped working). Here is my cover function: typedef struct Spst_{ void *key; set *st; }Spst; int cover(set *skill_list,set *player_list,set *covering) { Liste *member,*max_member; Spst *subset; set *intersection; void **data; int max_size; set_init(covering); //to initialize set covering initially while(skill_list->size>0&&player_list->size>0) { max_size=0; for(member=player_list->head;member!=NULL;member=member->next) { if(set_intersection(intersection,((Spst *)(member->data))->st,skill_list)!=0) return -1; if(intersection->size>max_size) { max_member=member; max_size=intersection->size; } set_destroy(intersection); //at the end of iteration } if(max_size==0) //to check for no covering return -1; subset=(Spst *)max_member->data; //to insert max subset from play list to covering set set_inselem(covering,subset); for(member=(((Spst *)max_member->data)->st->head);member!=NULL;member=member->next) //to rem elem from skill list { data=(void **)member->data; set_remelem(skill_list,data); } set_remelem(player_list,(void **)subset); //to rem subset from set of subsets play list } if(skill_list->size>0) return -1; return 0; } Now assuming I have defined three set type sets(as stated above) and calling from main as cover(skills, subsets, covering);=> runtime hang Here Please give inputs on the missing link in this or the prerequisites for a proper call to this function type required. EDIT: Assume other functions used in cover are tested and working fine.

• call/cc in Lua - Possible?

- by Pessimist
The Wikipedia article on Continuation says: "In any language which supports closures, it is possible to write programs in continuation passing style and manually implement call/cc." Either that is true and I need to know how to do it or it is not true and that statement needs to be corrected. If this is true, please show me how to implement call/cc in Lua because I can't see how. I think I'd be able to implement call/cc manually if Lua had the coroutine.clone function as explained here. If closures are not enough to implement call/cc then what else is needed? The text below is optional reading. P.S.: Lua has one-shot continuations with its coroutine table. A coroutine.clone function would allow me to clone it to call it multiple times, thus effectively making call/cc possible (unless I misunderstand call/cc). However that cloning function doesn't exist in Lua. Someone on the Lua IRC channel suggested that I use the Pluto library (it implements serialization) to marshal a coroutine, copy it and then unmarshal it and use it again. While that would probably work, I am more interested in the theoretical implementation of call/cc and in finding what is the actual minimum set of features that a language needs to have in order to allow for its manual implementation.

• DirectShow Filter I wrote dies after 10-24 seconds in Skype video call

- by Robert Oschler
I've written a DirectShow push filter for use with Skype using Delphi Pro 6 and the DSPACK DirectShow library. In preview mode, when you test a video input device in the Skype client Video Settings window, my filter works flawlessly. I can leave it up and running for many minutes without an error. However when I start a video call after 10 to 24 seconds, never longer, the video feed freezes. The call continues fine with the call duration counter clicking away the seconds, but the video feed is dead, stuck on whatever frame the freeze happened (although after a long while it turns black which I believe means Skype has given up on the filter). I tried attaching to the process from my debugger with a breakpoint literally set on every method call and none of them are hit once the freeze takes place. It's as if the thread that makes the DirectShow FillBuffer() call to my filter on behalf of Skype is dead or has been shutdown. I can't trace my filter in the debugger because during a Skype call I get weird int 1 and int 3 debugger hard interrupt calls when a Skype video call is in progress. This behavior happens even with my standard web cam input device selected and my DirectShow filter completely unregistered as a ActiveX server. I suspect it might be some "anti-debugging" code since it doesn't happen in video input preview mode. Either way, that is why I had to attach to the process after the fact to see if my FillBuffer() called was still being called and instead discovered that appears to be dead. Note, my plain vanilla USB web cam's DirectShow filter does not exhibit the freezing behavior and works fine for many minutes. There's something about my filter that Skype doesn't like. I've tried Sleep() statements of varying intervals, no Sleep statements, doing virtually nothing in the FillBuffer() call. Nothing helps. If anyone has any ideas on what might be the culprit here, I'd like to know. Thanks, Robert

• Asterisk terminating outbound call when picked up, sends 'BYE' message

- by vo
I'm running Asterisk 1.6.1.10 / FreePBX 2.5.2.2 and I've got an outbound trunk setup. Everything use to work fine until recently (perhaps due to upgrade to FC12 or other things I'm not sure). Anyway the setup does not appear to have issues registering and setting up the call, RTP packets go both ways and you can hear the ringing from the other side. However it appears that when the call is picked up or thereabouts, the incoming RTP packets cease. Upon closer inspection with Wireshark, there are these particular packets that seem to be the cause: trunk->asterisk SIP/SD Status: 200 OK, with session description asterisk->trunk SIP Request: ACK sip:<phone>@trunk:6889 asterisk->trunk SIP Request: BYE sip:<phone>@trunk:6889 [..about a dozzen RTP packets in/outbound..] trunk->asterisk SIP Status: 200 OK, CSeq: 104 Bye [..outbound RTP continues, phone is silent..] Then the inbound RTP packets cease, however the asterisk logs dont show any activity at this point. The last entry reads 'SIP/ is answered SIP/'. Then when you hangup the extension, you get asterisk->trunk SIP Request: BYE sip:<phone>@trunk:6889 trunk->asterisk SIP Status: 481 Call Leg/Transaction does not exist My trunk peer settings in FreePBX are: username=<user> fromuser=<user> canreinvite=no type=friend secret=<pass> qualify=no [qualify yes produces 401/forbidden messages] nat=yes insecure=very host=<sip trunk gateway> fromdomain=<sip trunk gateway> disallow=all context=from-pstn allow=ulaw dtmfmode=inband Under sip_general_custom.conf i have stunaddr=stun.xten.com externrefresh=120 localnet=192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 nat=yes Whats causing Asterisk to prematurely end the call and still think the call is in progress? I have no idea where to look next.

• How do I detect call forwarding in Asterisk?

- by jibcage
Basically, I want to do the same thing that Google Voice does. I forward my calls to a DID number that rings my Asterisk server via IAX2, which, if it detects the call has been forwarded, sends it to voicemail. Otherwise, if the call hasn't been forwarded (and somebody has dialed the DID number), it dials my phone number and tries to reach me. tl;dr: how do I detect that a call has been forwarded to my asterisk box?

• Advanced call forwarding in Skype

- by Ivan
Hi all, I'd like to forward calls from a Skype account to another Skype account (both online), but so that it calls and then enters a number. E.g., I have two accounts: acc1 and acc2. I want all calls from acc1 to be forwarded to acc2, and when the call is established to enter "#123". Is that possible? Thanks. EDIT: The question is basically how to call a user and add the extension directly, before the call has been established (e.g., to call directly acc2:#123).

• Converting a GameObject method call from UnityScript to C#

- by Crims0n_
Here is the UnityScript implementation of the method i use to generate a randomly tiled background, the problem i'm having relates to how to translate the call to the newTile method in c#, so far i've had no luck fiddling... can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks #pragma strict import System.Collections.Generic; var mapSizeX : int; var mapSizeY : int; var xOffset : float; var yOffset : float; var tilePrefab : GameObject; var tilePrefab2 : GameObject; var tiles : List.<Transform> = new List.<Transform>(); function Start () { var i : int = 0; var xIndex : int = 0; var yIndex : int = 0; xOffset = 2.69; yOffset = -1.97; while(yIndex < mapSizeY){ xIndex = 0; while(xIndex < mapSizeX){ var z = Random.Range(0, 5); if (z > 2) { var newTile : GameObject = Instantiate (tilePrefab, Vector3(xIndex*0.64 - (xOffset * (mapSizeX/10)), yIndex*-0.64 - (yOffset * (mapSizeY/10)), 0), Quaternion.identity); tiles.Add(newTile.transform); newTile.transform.parent = transform; newTile.transform.name = "tile_"+i; i++; xIndex++; } if (z < 2) { var newTile2 : GameObject = Instantiate (tilePrefab2, Vector3(xIndex*0.64 - (xOffset * (mapSizeX/10)), yIndex*-0.64 - (yOffset * (mapSizeY/10)), 0), Quaternion.identity); tiles.Add(newTile2.transform); newTile2.transform.parent = transform; newTile2.transform.name = "Ztile_"+i; i++; xIndex++; } } yIndex++; } } C# Version [Fixed] using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; public class LevelGen : MonoBehaviour { public int mapSizeX; public int mapSizeY; public float xOffset; public float yOffset; public GameObject tilePrefab; public GameObject tilePrefab2; int i; public System.Collections.Generic.List<Transform> tiles = new System.Collections.Generic.List<Transform>(); // Use this for initialization void Start () { int i = 0; int xIndex = 0; int yIndex = 0; xOffset = 1.58f; yOffset = -1.156f; while (yIndex < mapSizeY) { xIndex = 0; while(xIndex < mapSizeX) { int z = Random.Range(0, 5); if (z > 5) { GameObject newTile = (GameObject)Instantiate(tilePrefab, new Vector3(xIndex*0.64f - (xOffset * (mapSizeX/10.0f)), yIndex*-0.64f - (yOffset * (mapSizeY/10.0f)), 0), Quaternion.identity); tiles.Add(newTile.transform); newTile.transform.parent = transform; newTile.transform.name = "tile_"+i; i++; xIndex++; } if (z < 5) { GameObject newTile2 = (GameObject)Instantiate(tilePrefab, new Vector3(xIndex*0.64f - (xOffset * (mapSizeX/10.0f)), yIndex*-0.64f - (yOffset * (mapSizeY/10.0f)), 0), Quaternion.identity); tiles.Add(newTile2.transform); newTile2.transform.parent = transform; newTile2.transform.name = "tile2_"+i; i++; xIndex++; } } yIndex++; } } // Update is called once per frame void Update () { } }

• "(401)Authorization Required" when making a web service call using Axis

- by Arun P Johny
Hi, I'm using apache axis to connect to my sugar crm instance. When I'm trying to connect to the instance it is throwing the following exception Exception in thread "main" AxisFault faultCode: {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HTTP faultSubcode: faultString: (401)Authorization Required faultActor: faultNode: faultDetail: {}:return code: 401 <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN"> <html><head> <title>401 Authorization Required</title> </head><body> <h1>Authorization Required</h1> <p>This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.</p> </body></html> {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HttpErrorCode:401 (401)Authorization Required at org.apache.axis.transport.http.HTTPSender.readFromSocket(HTTPSender.java:744) at org.apache.axis.transport.http.HTTPSender.invoke(HTTPSender.java:144) at org.apache.axis.strategies.InvocationStrategy.visit(InvocationStrategy.java:32) at org.apache.axis.SimpleChain.doVisiting(SimpleChain.java:118) at org.apache.axis.SimpleChain.invoke(SimpleChain.java:83) at org.apache.axis.client.AxisClient.invoke(AxisClient.java:165) at org.apache.axis.client.Call.invokeEngine(Call.java:2784) at org.apache.axis.client.Call.invoke(Call.java:2767) at org.apache.axis.client.Call.invoke(Call.java:2443) at org.apache.axis.client.Call.invoke(Call.java:2366) at org.apache.axis.client.Call.invoke(Call.java:1812) at org.beanizer.sugarcrm.SugarsoapBindingStub.get_server_info(SugarsoapBindingStub.java:1115) at com.greytip.sugarcrm.GreytipCrm.main(GreytipCrm.java:42) This basically says that I do not have the authorization to the resource. The same code is working fine in my testing environment. Sugarsoap service = new SugarsoapLocator(); SugarsoapPortType port = service.getsugarsoapPort(new java.net.URL( SUGAR_CRM_LOCATION + "/soap.php")); System.out.println(port.get_server_info().getVersion()); User_auth userAuth = new User_auth(); userAuth.setUser_name("user_name"); MessageDigest md = MessageDigest.getInstance("MD5"); String password = getHexString(md.digest("password".getBytes())); userAuth.setPassword(password); // userAuth.setVersion("0.1"); Entry_value login = port.login(userAuth, "myAppName", null); String sessionID = login.getId(); Above code is used to connect to the Sugar CRM installation. here line "System.out.println(port.get_server_info().getVersion());" is throwing the exception. One difference I noticed between the test and production environment is when I used the soap url in the browser the production site pops up a 'Authentication Required' popup. When I gives my proxy username and password in this popup, it shows the soap request details. The same is applicable for the login url also. First it will ask for the 'Authentication' then it will take to the sugar crm login page? Is it a server security setting? If it is then how to set this user name and password using java in a web service call. The authentication required popup is same as the one which comes when we try to access the tomcat manager through a browser. Thanks
