  • Search results in wordpress, order by custom category order and time DESC

    Hello I want to change default post search order to order: sample cat 1 sample post from cat 1 sample post from cat 1 sample cat 2 sample post from cat 2 sample post from cat 3 sample cat 3 etc.. So... I want to define category order and in search results will be sorted for this order and in category order will be date DESC. Only posts (no categories) will be visible. Anybody have any idea?

  • Wordpress display specific sub category of a parent category.

    So here's the scenario, I'm building a theme that would display sub category of a parent post for Food: [Food] -Hotdog -Eggs -Fries for Toys: [Toys] -Doll -Car -Drums for People: [People] -Mom -Dad -Uncle now I don't want to display their parent category, just their subcategory (eg Doll, Car, Drums). I've looked list_cats() and wp_list_categories() but I can't figure out how to display it right. Thanks!

    I want to display the linklist widget only on a certain category. The current way the sidebar is fetched is: if (!function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') || !dynamic_sidebar(1)) Which doesnt give me a say in the calling of the links widget. If i put an if clause there, then the rest of the widgets dont get loaded. So i either need to customize the links widget it self or find a way to call the links widget directly? And how do i check which category i'm on?

  • [wordpress] Loop through a specific category on single.php

    I've created a custom page and it is set as my homepage, within this custom page I am pulling out the latest post from a specific category, I've also created a form of pagination which when clicked upon will take the user to single.php. My intention for the single.php is to have two custom loops. Custom loop one I want single.php to distinguish that it has came from the homepage and loop through all of the posts tagged with the same category as the one on the homepage. Some of these posts will have to be tagged with more than one category, so the loop will have to know to ignore the other categories and just pay attention to the category in question. Does that make sense? Custom loop two If the user hasn't arrived from the homepage, single.php will just act as it normally does i.e, if the user comes from index.php (the blog) they will be taken to this second loop (blog post) However I don't seem to be able to make the distinction between the two loops, I might be over complicating matters, as I've got a loop which wraps everything together and then I have a loop for my custom pagination.     I would like some pointers to information which would help me understand how to go about providing the ability to filter a list of entities by their attributes as well as by attributes of related entities. As an example, imagine a web app which provides order management of some kind. Orders and related entities are stored in a relational database. And imagine that the app has an interface which lists the orders. The problem is: how does one allow the list to be filtered by, for example:- order number (an attribute) line item name (an attribute of a n-n related entity) some text in an administrative note related to the order (text found in an attribute of a 1-1 related entity) I'm trying to discover whether there is something like a standard, efficient way to construct the queries and the filtering form; or some possible strategies; or any theory on the topic; or some example code. My google foo fails me.

    Hi I am a computer science student currently on an internship and I have been thinking more and more about looking into working for a company / places that is developing quantum computers/ing when I graduate. Here is my problem, I have a pretty solid grasp of mathematics involved in Comp Sci and enjoy learning about more Comp Sci theory but in doing some minor research about Quantum Computing it seems to me to be more about hardware and I have always leant more to the software side of things. I haven't studied any physics since high school so I am wondering if I would be suitable to work in such a field with a Comp Sci degree, is it a field more aimed at physicists?

    Hi I am using a wordpress plugin called "kf most read" which stores a count of how many times a post was read, and lets you output a list of most read posts. This works well. The issue is, I am trying to pull the most read posts, but only the most read posts within the current category you are viewing. I am close to clueless when it comes to sql.   • Calling method on category included from iPhone static library causes NSInvalidArgumentException

    I have created a static library to house some of my code like categories. I have a category for UIViews in "UIView-Extensions.h" named Extensions. In this category I have a method called: - (void)fadeOutWithDelay:(CGFloat)delay duration:(CGFloat)duration; Calling this method works fine on the simulator on Debug configuration. However, if try to run the app on the device I get a NSInvalidArgumentException: [UIView fadeOutWithDelay:duration:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1912b0 *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIView fadeOutWithDelay:duration:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1912b0 It seems for some reason UIView-Extensions.h is not being included in the device builds. What I have checked/tried I did try to include another category for NSString, and had the same issue. Other files, like whole classes and functions work fine. It is an issue that only happens with categories. I did a clean all targets, which did not fix the problem. I checked the static library project, the categories are included in the target's "copy headers" and "compile sources" groups. The static library is included in the main projects "link binary with library" group. Another project I have added the static library to works just fine.   • WordPress plugin to output a certain category on content page tweak help

    I'm using WordPress plugin Category Page to display the most recent 5 posts from a certain category on a regular content page (not the blog page) of a website. Right now the plugin is limited to display the post title linked to the post page. This is a video blog type site and I need the plugin to display the post title (as it does now) with the video as well. Probably just telling the script to show the content would work but I don't know how to tweak it.   • Contingent Header Category Label

    Right now the header has a bit of code in it that queries the section name and then uses that section name as the h1 title in the page. It works fine. However, I want to selectively break that operation in certain categories and give myself the ability to manually enter the h1 title for a given section. Here's what I'm struggling with: how can I maintain the automatic query and title selection in most instances, but selectively break it in a given category (the 'blog' category, for starters)?     I am going nuts over wordpress and artisteer. I am trying something that used to be pretty straightforward - turning on and off the display of date and post category for my posts on my blog page. I find this in content.php global $post; theme_post_wrapper( array( 'id' => theme_get_post_id(), 'class' => theme_get_post_class(), 'title' => theme_get_meta_option($post->ID, 'theme_show_page_title') ? get_the_title() : '', 'heading' => theme_get_option('theme_single_article_title_tag'), 'before' => theme_get_metadata_icons('date', 'header'), 'content' => theme_get_content() ) ); And the instruction says that all you got to do is insert or remove 'date' in the 'before' line. I've done it back and forth with my content files and nothing changes on the output. I can't find the actual code that prints it all, wordpress used to be so simple before everything was dug down 10 levels deep and you now have to look through millions of different functions to find the simplest things... As you can probably tell, I usually don't work with WP =) But this is on my table now and I haven't stayed up to date with WP for a couple of years... Any input as to where I can find the variables is appreciated... I had expected to at some point find 'posted at '.echo($date).' in category '.echo($category) or something at least remotely similar...

I've created a plugin which creates adds a Customized category widget to the "Available Widgets" listing which gives me some control over the items I want to exclude.   • Translation of clustering problem to graph theory language

    I have a rectangular planar grid, with each cell assigned some integer weight. I am looking for an algorithm to identify clusters of 3 to 6 adjacent cells with higher-than-average weight. These blobs should have approximately circular shape. For my case the average weight of the cells not containing a cluster is around 6, and that for cells containing a cluster is around 6+4, i.e. there is a "background weight" somewhere around 6. The weights fluctuate with a Poisson statistic. For small background greedy or seeded algorithms perform pretty well, but this breaks down if my cluster cells have weights close to fluctuations in the background. Also, I cannot do a brute-force search looping through all possible setups because my grid is large (something like 1000x1000). I have the impression there might exist ways to tackle this in graph theory. I heard of vertex-covers and cliques, but am not sure how to best translate my problem into their language.

    Please help me find a good solution for this problem. We have n boxes with 3 dimensions. We can orient them and we want to put them on top of another to have a maximun height. We can put a box on top of an other box, if 2 dimensions (width and lenght) are lower than the dimensions of the box below. For exapmle we have 3 dimensions w*D*h, we can show it in to (h*d,d*h,w*d,d*W,h*w,w*h) please help me to solve it in graph theory.

  • Theory of computation - Using the pumping lemma for context free languages

    I'm reviewing my notes for my course on theory of computation and I'm having trouble understanding how to complete a certain proof. Here is the question: A = {0^n 1^m 0^n | n>=1, m>=1} Prove that A is not regular. It's pretty obvious that the pumping lemma has to be used for this. So, we have |vy| = 1 |vxy| <= p (p being the pumping length, = 1) uv^ixy^iz exists in A for all i = 0 Trying to think of the correct string to choose seems a bit iffy for this. I was thinking 0^p 1^q 0^p, but I don't know if I can obscurely make a q, and since there is no bound on u, this could make things unruly.. So, how would one go about this?
