  • Combining / deduplicating contacts in Windows 8 People app

    Is there a way of combining or deduplicating contacts in the Windows 8 People app? For some reason I have double entries of many contacts (with identical names), and the app isn't smart enough to integrate them. I have the following accounts connected: Microsoft (i.e. Hotmail) Google (including Contacts) Facebook Linkedin Twitter The contacts in question have entries from Google contacts as well as Facebook.

  • How do I permanently delete e-mail messages in the sendmail queue and keep them from coming back?

    I have a pretty annoying problem here. I have been testing an application and have created some test e-mails to bogus e-mail addresses (not to mention that my server isn't really set up to send e-mail anyway). Of course, sendmail is not able to send these messages and they have been getting stuck in the sendmail queue. I want to manually delete the messages that have been building up in the queue instead of waiting the 5 days that sendmail usually takes to stop retrying. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and /var/spool/mqueue/ is the directory in which every how-to I have read says the e-mails that are queued up are kept. When I delete the files in this directory, sendmail stops trying to process the e-mails until what appears to be a cron script runs and re-populates this directory with the messages I don't want sent.     A friend of mine has purchased a new laptop (Toshiba) with Windows 7 installed and has also purchased Outlook 2007 and atttmped to install it - the install worked ok, but I think he may have selected Exchange server when installing the first time - now it will not start, displaying message like "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable " Outlook 2007 should have been configued for Pop3 as he has a hotmail account, but Outlook will not load "offline" and despite me de-installing, re-installing, running repair, I cannot get it to load to a point where I can add a new email account. If any one has any ideas on this, I would apprecaite the help Thanks, Bob

    Hi all, If I understand PGP correctly, I can digitally sign my email with my private key, which will prove they are from me, right? I created my public and private key on my server, but I can't work out how to set up digital signing with Windows Live Mail.     Hello, I had a system running Win 7 Home premium and ubuntu 10.04, side by side dual boot.I got an ubuntu 10.10 image disk so I decided to update.But during the installation I think I made a mistake by specifying the whole partition, and after installation of ubuntu 10.10 I saw that my windows and all the other data was gone.there was around 250GB of it.Is there any way I can recover this data??I had a lot of irreplacable photos and collections on the drive.I do have a recovery cd for my windows, but it does not detect any windows os.thanku very much.   • Fake sent email appear in my sent items folder

    I have an email listed as being sent by my outlook account that I did not send. In order to figure out who it was sent to, I forwarded it to the same address (hotmail account) and received a reply that there was no such address. I've tried looking up that address and it does not appear to exist. Can someone fake an email and have it appear in my outlook sent items folder as being sent by me? How can I tell who did this?

  • Are there free FTP serer backup repositories

    I was wondering if there is a free service that provides a repository for your backups. These are backups of my server, there are usually about 200mb. I want to FTP the last 2 or 3. I am looking for a service that maybe provide some gigs of space and with FTP access. Looking at email providers such as gmail and hotmail that give you a couple of gigs of free space, this should also be possible or am i horribly wrong.

    A quick tidbit I came up with today to count email addresses in a mysql database table grouping them by domain. So say for example you have a large list of subscribers and you want to see the breakdown of people who use Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc. SELECT COUNT( SUBSTRING_INDEX( `email` , '@', -1 ) ) AS `count` , SUBSTRING_INDEX( `email` , '@', -1 ) AS `domain` FROM `subscribers` WHERE `email` != '' GROUP BY `domain` ORDER BY `count` DESC This sql statement assumes that the table is called 'subscribers' and the column containing the email addresses is 'email'. Change these two values to match your table name and email address column name. mysql count email mysql count domain mysql split email mysql split domain

  • No contact list in MSN

    Since today I can't see my contact list en empathy IM, using the MSN protocol. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, erasing all config files from my computer (using ubuntu tweak and erasing the config files from my /home folder), but nothing solve the problem Time ago people have the same problem, they're solved it changing a line in a script, but that bug was solved in latest versions of empathy. I've tried to change that script, using other lines. /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/papyon/service/description/SingleSignOn/RequestMultipleSecurityTokens.py I've changed the line CONTACTS = ("contacts.msn.com", "MBI") by the older one: CONTACTS = ("contacts.msn.com","?fs=1&id=24000&kv=7&rn=93S9SWWw&tw=0&ver=2.1.6000.1") But this no fix the bug In advanced options I have this (in empathy account options): Server: messenger.hotmail.com Port: 1863 How can I solve this? Please help
