  • Communication Between Different Technologies in a Distributed Application

    - by sjtaheri
I had to a incorporate several legacy applications and services in a network-distributed application. The existing services and applications are written using different languages and technologies, including: java, C#.Net and C++; all running on MS Windows machines. Now I'm wondering about the communication mechanism between them. What is the simple and standard way? Thanks! PS. communications include simple message sending and remote method invocations.

  • What's the point of Rabbit MQ? [duplicate]

    - by bad_boy
This question already has an answer here: When to use Advanced Message Queuing Protocol like RabbitMQ? [closed] 2 answers First of all, let me say, I have no problem following tutorials. The problem is that I don't understand why even Rabbit MQ is ever needed. And there's no such explanation on tutorials - they only show what to do and how to use, but not when its usage is the case. Can you explain this? Why would you want to use Rabbit MQ? To solve what problem?

  • Jabber client for windows 7

    - by Anders
I am looking for a jabber client with some specific functions. I have spent 1½ day looking for one and it is getting tiresome. Clients that I have been using, that have what I need, but I am not interesting for a reason in are: Pidgin, does not show complete messages in their popups. Miranda IM, I have a constant disconnect issue that does not seem to be resolved in my case. What I need are: Popups A popup that shows broadcasts to users. A popup that show when my username is typed in a conference chat. I need to be able to view the full message in the popup. No configuration of a theme to make this enabled, or if there is a working theme for it already. Preferable placement is on the top right of the screen. Able to 'popup' when running full screen applications, much like games. Conferences Easy access to bookmarked conferences. I do not want to go through submenus to rejoin a disconnected or closed conference. If I close the conference window I want to be connected to the conference until I exit the client. Tabbed interface. Configuration Sober configurations, options are great but there is a limit and the above needs to be availble in the options in a understandable manner. What I wish for: MSN Not needed! If it is avaible then it is a big plus. Facebook Not needed! If it is avaible then it is a big plus. Conferences/chats Not needed! Eyecandy is always nice.

  • Getting service unavailable message when sending messages to google xmpp using wokkel

    - by Code freak
Hi, I made a wokkel (twisted python) bot to send and receive messages from the google xmpp service. Everything (auth, presence) etc works fine. One of the rquirements of our prject is that we need to send broadcast messages to everyone in the list. Normal messages and replies work fin, but when i snd a broadcast message, i get this service unavailable error 503 message. There are about 1000 user in my contact list. Is this some bug in the code or is it google policy to prevent rapid messaging. Also, how do other google bots cater to a large contact base ? does google provide a commercial solution for such applications ? Thanks

  • WhatsApp - writing a clone (iphone, android, wp7)

    - by Martin
I am trying to create a instant messaging app very much like whatsapp I suppose. My resources I have available to me are Server development in C# (REST Service, dedicated server app etc) And currently an android development platform using eclipse (iphone, wp7 to follow later). I have done some development in Android before but I don't have any idea where to start an application like this. My guess would be it would work with UDP / TCP or similar ? I currently have a shared server for an asp.net website but I presume this wouldn't be ideal, I could essential setup a web service on the server and get a client to publish his messages there but then this would mean that the receivers would have to POLL (PULL) every 5 minutes or so - so I guess this wouldn't be real time Do I need to use UDP here ? And I presume platforms like Iphone, Android and WP7 will not have any issues sending msgs by UDP - if that is how its done. I look forward to any help or guidance.

  • Is there a good design pattern for this messaging class?

    - by salonMonsters
Is there a good design pattern for this? I want to create a messaging class. The class will be passed: the type of message (eg. signup, signup confirmation, password reminder etc) the client's id The class needs to then look up the client's messaging preferences in the db (whether they want communication by email, sms or both) Then depending on the client's preference it will format the message for the medium (short version for sms, long form for email) and send it through our mail or sms provider's API. Because the fact that we want to be able to change out email and sms providers if need be I wondered if the Command Pattern would be a good choice.

  • Debugging Messaging Exception

    - by rizza
We have a batch program that incorporates JavaMail 1.2 that sends emails. In our development environment, we haven't got the chance to encounter the above mentioned exception. But in the client's environment, they had experienced this a lot of times with the following error trace: javax.mail.MessagingException: 550 Requested action not taken: NUL characters are not allowed. at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.issueCommand (SMTPTransport.java: 879) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.finishData (SMTPTransport.java: 820) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.sendMessage (SMTPTransport.java: 322) ... I'm not sure if this is connected to my problem, http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4697158. But trying JavaMail 1.4.2, I see that the content transfer encoding of the email is still 7bit, so I'm not sure if using JavaMail 1.4.2 could solve the problem. Please take note that I could only do testing in our development environment that hasn't been able to replicate this. With the above exception, how would i know if this is from the sender or the receiver side? What debugging steps could you suggest? EDIT: Here is a DEBUG of the actual sending (masked some information): DEBUG: not loading system providers in &lt;java.home&gt;</a>/lib DEBUG: not loading optional custom providers file: /META-INF/javamail.providers DEBUG: successfully loaded default providers DEBUG: Tables of loaded providers DEBUG: Providers Listed By Class Name: {com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport=javax.mail.Provider[TRANSPORT,smtp,com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport,Sun Microsystems, Inc], com.sun.mail.imap.IMAPStore=javax.mail.Provider[STORE,imap,com.sun.mail.imap.IMAPStore,Sun Microsystems, Inc], com.sun.mail.pop3.POP3Store=javax.mail.Provider[STORE,pop3,com.sun.mail.pop3.POP3Store,Sun Microsystems, Inc]} DEBUG: Providers Listed By Protocol: {imap=javax.mail.Provider[STORE,imap,com.sun.mail.imap.IMAPStore,Sun Microsystems, Inc], pop3=javax.mail.Provider[STORE,pop3,com.sun.mail.pop3.POP3Store,Sun Microsystems, Inc], smtp=javax.mail.Provider[TRANSPORT,smtp,com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport,Sun Microsystems, Inc]} DEBUG: not loading optional address map file: /META-INF/javamail.address.map DEBUG: getProvider() returning javax.mail.Provider[TRANSPORT,smtp,com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport,Sun Microsystems, Inc] DEBUG SMTP: useEhlo true, useAuth false DEBUG: SMTPTransport trying to connect to host "nnn.nnn.n.nnn", port nn DEBUG SMTP RCVD: 220 xxxx.xxxxxxxxxxx.xxx SMTP; Mon, 23 Mar 2009 15:18:57 +0800 DEBUG: SMTPTransport connected to host "nnn.nnn.n.nnn", port: nn DEBUG SMTP SENT: EHLO xxxxxxxxx DEBUG SMTP RCVD: 250 xxxx.xxxxxxxxxxx.xxx Hello DEBUG SMTP: use8bit false DEBUG SMTP SENT: MAIL FROM:<a href="newmsg.cgi?mbx=Main&[email protected]">&lt;[email protected]&gt;</a> DEBUG SMTP RCVD: 250 <a href="newmsg.cgi?mbx=Main&[email protected]">&lt;[email protected]&gt;</a>... • Problems with WCF reliable session (reliable messaging)

    - by Rob
    Hi, In our WCF application I am trying to configure reliable sessions. Service: <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="BindingStabiHTTP" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="2097152" messageEncoding="Text"> <reliableSession enabled="true" ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00"/> <readerQuotas maxDepth="0" maxStringContentLength="0" maxArrayLength="0" maxBytesPerRead="0" maxNameTableCharCount="0" /> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> Client: <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="BindingClientWsHttpStandard" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" transactionFlow="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="true" allowCookies="false"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="true" /> <security mode="Message"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" algorithmSuite="Default" establishSecurityContext="true" /> </security> </binding> Unfortunately I get an error which is as follows: No signature message parts were specified for messages with the 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/02/rm/CreateSequence' action. If I disable the reliableSession on the client I get this message: The action is not supported by this endpoint. Only WS-ReliableMessaging February 2005 messages are processed by this endpoint. So it seems that the server is configured correctly for RM. I cannot find anything valuable about the error I get so I don't know how to fix this. Any ideas what can be wrong? Thank in advance, Rob

  • JMS equivalent in .Net

    - by rauts
Hi All, I am trying to make an common abstract interface over the messaging infrastructure in our company. The design goal is to 2 fold. 1 is to hide the complexity of programming from the developers (i know its not very complex but still simplify it further) and 2 is to make the developers independent of the vendor specific messaging infrastructure (i.e. it can be MQSeries or EMS or MSMQ). The very common option is using the WCF layer over the messaging infrastructure. Use the MQSeries Custom channel for WCF or use EMS custom channle for WCF. But both are ruled out due to lack of proper version of MQSeries and EMS. Can someone please suggest what are the possible solutions to this problem. One which i can think of the to have a custom wrapper like JMS. Has anyone ever tried something similar before. Any help would be fantastic. by the way, i am trying to create this wrapper in C# 3.5. Regards

  • Example: Communication between Activity and Service using Messaging

    - by Lance Lefebure
I couldn't find any examples of how to send messages between an activity and a service, and spent far too many hours figuring this out. Here is an example project for others to reference. This example allows you to start or stop a service directly, and separately bind/unbind from the service. When the service is running, it increments a number at 10Hz. If the activity is bound to the service, it will display the current value. Data is transferred as an Integer and as a String so you can see how to do that two different ways. There are also buttons in the activity to send messages to the service (changes the increment-by value). • Append/Add Child Div (jQuery) for Messaging System

    - by Lord Varlin
    So, I'm having difficulty trying to append/add a child div to the parent div, and thought someone out here may know the best way for me to go about this. I have attached my code (without PHP right now, just hard coding text and stuff). But here is what I am trying to do: When a message is posted, you hit the "Reply Button" and a new div will appear underneath containing the reply form. Right now, here are the issues I know about and can't get around: The DIV is a class, so when I use jQuery to try to target the DIV it targets everything since it's no unique. The Reply Button is also a class, so it's not unique. Here is a video of it in action: http://tinypic.com/r/2luxwnr/7 HTML <body> <div id="content-container"> <div id="message-viewer"> <div class="roar"> <div class="roaractionpanel"> <div id="msg-business2"></div> <div class="roartime"><p class="roartime-text">3:26PM</p></div> </div> <div class="roarcontent"> <button type="submit" class="btn-reply"></button> <h5>Test Post</h5><br> <h6>Lord Varlin</h6><br> <h2>Test post... let's see.</h2> </div> </div> <div class="newreply"> <div class="newreplycontent"> <h1>This is where the fields for a new reply will go.</h1> </div> </div> <div class="roar"> <div class="roaractionpanel"> <div id="msg-business2"></div> <div class="roartime"><p class="roartime-text">3:26PM</p></div> </div> <div class="roarcontent"> <button type="submit" class="btn-reply"></button> <h5>Testing another</h5><br> <h6>Lord Varlin</h6><br> <h2>Hmm dee dumm...</h2> </div> </div> <div class="roarreply"> <div class="roarreply-marker"> <p class="roarreplytime-text">June 26th @ 4:42AM</p> </div> <div class="roarreplycontent"> <h9>Testing a reply. Hmmmm.</h9><br> <h8>Lord Varlin</h8> </div> </div> <div class="newreply"> <div class="newreplycontent"> <h1>This is where the fields for a new reply will go.</h1> </div> </div> <div class="roar"> <div class="roaractionpanel"> <div id="msg-business2"></div> <div class="roartime"><p class="roartime- text">3:26PM</p></div> </div> <div class="roarcontent"> <button type="submit" class="btn-reply"></button> <h5>Testing another</h5><br> <h6>Lord Varlin</h6><br> <h2>jQuery, work with me please.</h2> </div> </div> <div class="roarreply"> <div class="roarreply-marker"> <p class="roarreplytime-text">June 26th @ 4:42AM</p> </div> <div class="roarreplycontent"> <h9>Testing a reply. Hmmmm.</h9><br> <h8>Lord Varlin</h8> </div> </div> <div class="roarreply"> <div class="roarreply-marker"> <p class="roarreplytime-text">June 26th @ 4:42AM</p> </div> <div class="roarreplycontent"> <h9>Testing a reply. Any guidance would be awesome! :)

• C#: Messaging in local network

    - by Richard
Hi All, I need to implement some form of communitcation mechanism in my application, to send Notifications/messages from one Application instance to all the others. This is a normal scenario where someone adds and item or deletes and item and you want to notify other users that this has happened. The application runs on the Client and connects to a database on the local network. So its not like all clients access a server instance of the application. So from what I know I could use MessageQueues or some form of Database polling where I have a table that stores all the messages (not ideal). Issue is I need to implement this very quickly, so sadly can't go very complex but need the quickest easiest solution. thanks for the help!

  • Searching for patterns to create a TCP Connection Pool for high performance messaging

    - by JoeGeeky
I'm creating a new Client / Server application in C# and expect to have a fairly high rate of connections. That made me think of database connection pools which help mitigate the expense of creating and disposing connections between the client and database. I would like to create a similar capability for my application and haven't been able to find any good examples of how to apply this pattern. Do I really need to spin up an instance of a TcpClient every time I want to send a message to the server and receive a receipt message? Each connection is expected to transport between 1-5KB with each receiving a 1KB response message. I realize this question is somewhat vague, but I am starting from scratch so I am open to suggestions. Even if that means my suppositions are all wrong.

  • Flex: client / server messaging question (RPC or socket ?)

    - by Patrick
hi, I'm building a Flex application, which is going to perform many server requests (let's say, that almost all interactions require an update from server). At the moment I'm using remote procedure calls for it. But I was wondering if using a socket would be better. In other terms, is maybe better to keep the connection alive rather then performing many calls in sequence ? For my demo app I only have 1 client. Is the number of clients connecting to the server a factor for this choice ? thanks

  • User interface for messaging app for WP7

    - by ArtWorkAD
I have a Message.xaml file that should display a recipient field and a message field like this: The user can add multiple recipients, so the TextBox should be flexible in height. I managed this with following code: <TextBox FontSize="24" Margin="0,0,80,532" Name="absenderField" AcceptsReturn="True" TextWrapping="Wrap" Height="auto" MinHeight="30" MaxWidth="375"> </TextBox> Now the recipient field is growing in height when text is added that does not fit into it. The other TextBox is for the message. The markup is the same as for the recipient field, just the height is different. The first problem is, that when the recipient field growes it goes over the message field but the message field should be aligned at the bottom of the recipient field and move down. how can I achieve that? Now the other problem. When I enter a lot of text to make the message field grow, the recipient field will grow too. This is very strange. Why does this happen? Is it possible to make the text scroll inside the text box? Whole xaml: http://pastebin.com/xPg7rV9e

  • Which messaging services can BlackBerry apps integrate with?

    - by humble coffee
I'm in charge of having a BlackBerry app developed that translates the contents of a message from one language to another. So the aim would be to have a button at the bottom of a received message which says 'translate this'. I've heard that this kind of thing is possible using J2ME plus the native BlackBerry API. Can this be done for all kinds of messanging features on the Blackberry, or just some? ie I'm thinking SMS, email and BB messages. Secondly, given that the translation itself is done via a web request, I feel like this should be a fairly lightweight application. Would anyone care to hazard a guess how long it might take an experienced contractor to develop such an app?
