  • inconsistency between Sun JRE javac and Eclipse java compiler?

    - by Jason S
This confuses me. The following compiles fine under Eclipse. package com.example.gotchas; public class GenericHelper1 { static <T> T fail() throws UnsupportedOperationException { throw new UnsupportedOperationException(); } /** * just calls fail() * @return something maybe */ public boolean argh() { return fail(); } public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } } But if I try to do a clean build with ant, or at the command line with javac, I get this: src\com\example\gotchas\GenericHelper1.java:14: type parameters of <T>T cannot be determined; no unique maximal instance exists for type variable T with upper bounds boolean,java.lang.Object public boolean argh() { return fail(); } ^ 1 error what gives, and how do I fix it?

  • Eclipse does not recognize Classes of the jar

    - by Tom Brito
I've included a new jar in my jre/lib/ext folder, and updated the Eclipse jre so the Eclipse see the new jar in the default JRE System Library. The trouble is that even showing the jar in the JRE System Library, the Eclipse does not see the Classes. And the worst: Eclipse see tha packages! It don't see only the classes! Here is a printscreen showing the jar withing the JRE System Library, and the Eclipse preview showing only the packages: http://picasaweb.google.com/brito.pro/Fail#5458323206632279634 Any idea how to solve this? :?

I want to try out some features rolled out in Oracle's new JDK 1.7. I followed the post:- Oracle JDK 1.7 but the post doesn't seem to help. I was trying to fetch out the structure for java.nio.file.Paths class file but got the following error:- buffer@ankit:~$ javap java.nio.file.Paths ERROR:Could not find java.nio.file.Paths However i can easily get the information about class structures till JAVA SE 1.6, here is an example:- buffer@ankit:~$ javap java.lang.Object Compiled from "Object.java" public class java.lang.Object{ public java.lang.Object(); public final native java.lang.Class getClass(); public native int hashCode(); public boolean equals(java.lang.Object); protected native java.lang.Object clone() throws java.lang.CloneNotSupportedException; public java.lang.String toString(); public final native void notify(); public final native void notifyAll(); public final native void wait(long) throws java.lang.InterruptedException; public final void wait(long, int) throws java.lang.InterruptedException; public final void wait() throws java.lang.InterruptedException; protected void finalize() throws java.lang.Throwable; static {}; } Running java -version gives the following result:- buffer@ankit:~$ java -version java version "1.7.0_09" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_09-b05) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.5-b02, mixed mode) SYSTEM INFORMATION buffer@ankit:~$ sudo update-alternatives --config java [sudo] password for buffer: There are 4 choices for the alternative java (providing /usr/bin/java). • GWT RPC and GoDaddy Shared Hosting

    - by Mike Apolis
Hi, I've deployed the sample Stock Watcher app to my GoDaddy Hosting site, and I get the error below. I've tried compiling the Project in Eclipse with JRE 1.5 because my Host is using jre 1.5. I think the issue is the "gwt-servlet.jar" is not compatible with jre 1.5. Can anyone confirm this. The project runs fine on my local machine using JRE 1.6. Unfortunately GoDaddy will not upgrade my shared hosting account jre to 1.6. • Windows Server Certified as Secure Global Desktop Clients with EBS 12

    - by Steven Chan (Oracle Development)
Oracle Secure Global Desktop provides secure access to centralized applications—Microsoft Windows, UNIX, mainframe, and midrange—from a wide variety of popular client devices, including Windows PCs, Oracle Solaris workstations, Linux PCs, and thin clients. Secure Global Desktop is certified for use with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 virtualized environments acting as desktop clients connecting to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 environments.  32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Server are certified. These combinations may also be used in conjunction with Oracle VM, if required. How does this work? For example, a Secure Desktop Client can connect to a Secure Global Desktop environment.  That environment can be running Microsoft Server 2008.  That environment can be used, in turn, as a "desktop client" to access Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3. Requirements EBS 12.1.3 + Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) Secure Global Desktop version 4.6 or higher Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit and 64-bit) or Internet Explorer 9 (32-bit and 64-bit) JRE Plug-in 1.6.0_32 (32-bit and 64-bit) or later 1.6 releases EBS 12.1.3 + Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) Secure Global Desktop version 4.6 or higher Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit) or Internet Explorer 9 (32-bit) JRE Plug-in 1.6.0_32 (32-bit) or later 1.6 releases EBS 12.1.3 + Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) Secure Global Desktop version 4.6 or higher Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit and 64-bit) JRE Plug-in 1.6.0_32 (32-bit and 64-bit) or later 1.6 releases EBS 12.1.3 + Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-bit) Secure Global Desktop version 4.6 or higher Internet Explorer 8 (32-bit) JRE Plug-in 1.6.0_32 (32-bit) or later 1.6 releases References Oracle Secure Global Desktop with E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 (Note 1491211.1) Related Articles Oracle VM Templates Available for E-Business Suite 12.1.3 Support Policies for Virtualization Technologies and Oracle E-Business Suite Webcast Replay Available: Virtualization and Cloud Deployments of Oracle E-Business Suite

  • Why doesn't lsof show localhost TCP connections in 14.04?

    - by sfussenegger
I have two servers running 12.04.4 and 14.04.1 respectively. Both have nginx (port 80) and a Java process (port 8080). As expected, the lsof output for the Java process on the 12.04 machine shows a couple of established connections for port 8080 (e.g. TCP 127.0.0.1:8080->127.0.0.1:58067 (ESTABLISHED)) The 14.04 machine however does not. It only shows the listening port (TCP *:8080 (LISTEN)). I'm sure there are active connections though (confirmed by access logs, Java process status output, etc). What has changed from 12.04 to result in this behavior? Can this change be the cause for the "Too many open files" errors I'm getting since moving from 12.04 to 14.04? 12.04: $ dpkg -l lsof linux-image-virtual openjdk-7-jre nginx ||/ Name Version +++-===========================================-=========================================== ii linux-image-virtual 3.2.0.59.70 ii lsof 4.81.dfsg.1-1build1 ii nginx 1.6.1-1~precise ii openjdk-7-jre 7u65-2.5.1-4ubuntu1~0.12.04.1 14.04: $ dpkg -l lsof linux-image-virtual openjdk-7-jre nginx-full ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-=====================================-=======================-======================= ii linux-image-virtual 3.13.0.32.38 amd64 ii lsof 4.86+dfsg-1ubuntu2 amd64 ii nginx-full 1.4.6-1ubuntu3 amd64 ii openjdk-7-jre:amd64 7u65-2.5.1-4ubuntu1~0.1 amd64

  • How to ACTUALLY install Java on Linux?

    - by Camran
I have a Ubuntu Server. From the terminal, how should I install JDK? In this guide it says to use this command: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre sun-java6-jdk But on Suns website, it says JDK includes the JRE, so why the JRE in the line above? Anybody know how to actually install Java? Every guide and every forum shows different ways of doing it. BTW: It is a VPS (virtual private server) Thanks

  • Trouble installing Java

    - by BRKsays
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I wanted to install Java and so I downloaded the 32-bit self extracting .bin file from http://www.java.com and tried to install it according to their instruction. First I made the file an executable one. Then created /usr/java/. After that I have to run this command: ./jre-7u<version>-linux-i586.bin. But I'm stuck here. My Java version is Java 6 u32. When I enter the command it says "no such file or directory". What to do? Please help. Also I'm trying to install 32-bit Java on my 64-bit Precise. Could that possibly be the problem? I tried to follow second answer by Jonas Christensen. I tried to open it, it says file is an unknown type. I tried the terminal command: ./jre-6u31-linux-i586.bin. But it gave this: Unpacking... Checksumming... Extracting... ./jre-6u32-linux-i586.bin: 86: ./jre-6u32-linux-i586.bin: ./install.sfx.5736: not found Failed to extract the files. Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of the Installation Instructions on the download page for more information.

  • How to run Repository Creation Utility (RCU) on 64-bit Linux

    - by Kevin Smith
I was setting up WebCenter Content (WCC) on a new virtual box running 64-bit Linux and ran into a problem when I tried to run the Repository Creation Utility (RCU). I saw this error when trying to start RCU .../rcuHome/jdk/jre/bin/java: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory I think I remember running into this before and reading something about RCU only being supported on 32-bit Linux. I decided to try and see if I could get it to run on 64-bit Linux. I saw it was using it's own copy of java (.../rcuHome/jdk/jre/bin/java), so I decided to try and get it to use the 64-bit JRockit I had already installed. I edited the rcu script in rcuHome/bin and replaced JRE_DIR=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre with JRE_DIR=/apps/java/jrockit-jdk1.6.0_29-R28.2.2-4.1.0 Sure enough that fixed it. I was able to run RCU and create the WCC schema.

  • set default java version

    - by Dónal
I have been using Java 6 on Ubuntu 11.10, but now I want to update to version 7. I've installed version 7 via PPA as described here. If I run sudo update-alternatives --config java I get the following output: There are 2 choices for the alternative java (providing /usr/bin/java). Selection Path Priority Status ------------------------------------------------------------ 0 /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/jre/bin/java 64 auto mode 1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java 63 manual mode * 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/jre/bin/java 64 manual mode Similarly, if I run: sudo update-alternatives --config javac I get the output: Selection Path Priority Status ------------------------------------------------------------ 0 /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/bin/javac 64 auto mode 1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/bin/javac 63 manual mode * 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/bin/javac 64 manual mode So it looks like version 7 is already the default. But if I run either java -version or javac -version The output indicates that version 6 is still the default. How can I set the default to version 7?

  • On Golf Tournaments & Installers

    - by Geertjan
I've been in touch recently with Ann Maybury, who is creating a golf tournament roundrobin manager for senior citizens in Palm Desert, California. The application is created on the NetBeans Platform and looks as follows, very neat and professional: Ann has been working on wrapping up the application for distribution and needs to include the JRE, since end users of the application don't necessarily have the JRE installed when they install the application. Several blogs and articles are available for creating and customizing installers for NetBeans Platform applications, as well as for bundling the JRE and other resources, though there are some gaps and inccuracies in those documents. However, now there's a new official tutorial, for the first time: http://platform.netbeans.org/tutorials/nbm-nbi.html The above is focused on Ant builds and Windows, specifically, and doesn't cover Maven scenarios, for which there'll be a separate tutorial soon. Feedback on the above new tutorial is very welcome, as always.

I've tried using high -Xmx values as well as running on both jdk1.6.0 (server and cacao JVMs) and 1.7.0 (server JVM). gdb traceback: #0 0x00007fffa36f2363 in std::_List_const_iterator<Exiv2::Exifdatum>::operator++ (this=0x7ffff7fd3500) at /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_list.h:223 #1 0x00007fffa36f2310 in std::__distance<std::_List_const_iterator<Exiv2::Exifdatum> > (__first=..., __last=...) at /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_iterator_base_funcs.h:79 #2 0x00007fffa36f224d in std::distance<std::_List_const_iterator<Exiv2::Exifdatum> > (__first=..., __last=...) at /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_iterator_base_funcs.h:114 #3 0x00007fffa36f1f27 in std::list<Exiv2::Exifdatum, std::allocator<Exiv2::Exifdatum> >::size (this=0x7fffa4030910) at /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_list.h:805 #4 0x00007fffa36f1d50 in Exiv2::ExifData::count (this=0x7fffa4030910) at /usr/local/include/exiv2/exif.hpp:518 #5 0x00007fffa36f1d30 in Exiv2::ExifData::empty (this=0x7fffa4030910) at /usr/local/include/exiv2/exif.hpp:516 #6 0x00007fffa36f1763 in getVars (path=0x7fffa401d2f0 "/home/hjed/PC100001.JPG", env=0x6131c8, obj=0x7ffff7fd37a8) at src/main.cpp:146 #7 0x00007fffa36f19d8 in Java_photo_exiv2_Exiv2MetaDataStore_impl_1loadFromExiv (env=0x6131c8, obj=0x7ffff7fd37a8, path=0x7ffff7fd37a0, obj2=0x7ffff7fd3798) at src/main.cpp:160 #8 0x00007ffff21d9cc8 in ??   • How to ACTUALLY install Java on Linux?

  • Java FAQ: Tudo o que você precisa saber

    - by Bruno.Borges
JDK 6 - http://jdk6.java.net/ JDK 7 - http://jdk7.java.net/ JDK 8 - http://jdk8.java.net/ JDK 9 - http://jdk9.java.net/ Quando acaba o suporte do Oracle Java SE 6, 7, 8? Critical patch updates, which contain security vulnerability fixes, are announced one year in advance on Critical Patch Updates, Security Alerts and Third Party Bulletin. This JRE (version 7u55) will expire with the release of the next critical patch update scheduled for July 15, 2014. For systems unable to reach the Oracle Servers, a secondary mechanism expires this JRE (version 7u55) on August 15, 2014. After either condition is met (new release becoming available or expiration date reached), the JRE will provide additional warnings and reminders to users to update to the newer version. For more information, see JRE Expiration Date.

  • Developing my own package manager: how do I resolve dependencies?

    - by shantanu
According to debian control file ant package's dependency list is: Depends: default-jre-headless | java2-runtime-headless | java5-runtime-headless | java6-runtime-headless, libxerces2-java That means it depends on default-jre-headless or java2-runtime-headless or java5-runtime-headless or java6-runtime-headless. But how could i determine that which package need to select as dependency? Note: I am trying to develop a package manager. I can not use provided package because they read sources.list file from a specific directory.
