Adding a Line Break in mySQL INSERT INTO text

Hi Could someone tell me how to add a new line in a text that i enter in a mySql table. I tried using the '\n in the line i entered with INSERT INTO statement but '\n is shown as it is. Actually i have created a table in Ms Access with some data. Ms Access adds new line with '\n. I am converting Ms Access table data into mySql . But when i convert, the '\n is ignored and all the text is shown in one single line when i display it from mySql table on a php form. Can anyone tell me how mySQL can add a new line in a text ? Technology to Prevent Multiple logins to the Same Computer

OK, this is a similar question to this. Actually I am trying to prevent people from multiple login into one single computer and use my application simultaneously. This is because I want to stop them from buying one license, install it on a machine, and use certain remote desktop technologies to do multiple user login. I want to prevent them from violating the license agreement. Is there anyway that I can do in my application for this? Or is multiple login simultaneously is simply not possible?

Is there any way to circumvent this behavior and set up two separate spans on the same card? Additionally, can you set up distinct display groups if they're on different cards? I will have the opportunity to test several of these cards in one machine very shortly, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience. EDIT: I can confirm that you can make multiple spans on multiple cards (as long as they don't cross cards, obviously) (If the answers are different for FirePro/FireMV cards and Radeon cards, that is helpful and relevant knowledge - I doubt it, though.)

SQL Server insert with XML parameter - empty string not converting to null for numeric

I have a stored procedure that takes an XML parameter and inserts the "Entity" nodes as records into a table. This works fine unless one of the numeric fields has a value of empty string in the XML. Then it throws an "error converting data type nvarchar to numeric" error. I found a previous question which seemed related but there's no resolution and it's 5 months old so I've opened my own version. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1545583/entity-framework-inserting-new-entity-via-objectcontext-does-not-use-existing-e When I insert records into my database with the following it works fine for a while and then eventually it starts inserting null values in the referenced field. This typically happens after I do an update on my model from the database although not always after I do an update. I'm using a MySQL database for this. I have debugged the code and the values are being set properly before the save event. They're just not getting inserted properly. I can always fix this issue by re-creating the model without touching any of my code. I have to recreate the entire model, though. I can't just dump the relevant tables and re-add them. This makes me think it doesn't have anything to do with my code but something with the entity framework. Oracle Insert via Select from multiple tables where one table may not have a row

I have a number of code value tables that contain a code and a description with a Long id. I now want to create an entry for an Account Type that references a number of codes, so I have something like this: insert into account_type_standard (account_type_Standard_id, tax_status_id, recipient_id) ( select account_type_standard_seq.nextval, ts.tax_status_id, r.recipient_id from tax_status ts, recipient r where ts.tax_status_code = ? and r.recipient_code = ?) This retrieves the appropriate values from the tax_status and recipient tables if a match is found for their respective codes. Unfortunately, recipient_code is nullable, and therefore the ? substitution value could be null. Of course, the implicit join doesn't return a row, so a row doesn't get inserted into my table. I've tried using NVL on the ? and on the r.recipient_id. I've tried to force an outer join on the r.recipient_code = ? by adding (+), but it's not an explicit join, so Oracle still didn't add another row. Anyone know of a way of doing this? I can obviously modify the statement so that I do the lookup of the recipient_id externally, and have a ? instead of r.recipient_id, and don't select from the recipient table at all, but I'd prefer to do all this in 1 SQL statement.

But the Gender input from the select drop down menu doesn't. Can some one tell me how to fix this, thanks.

In typical STL style the error output is verbose and difficult to understand. The key part seems to be this... /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_algobase.h:313: error: no match for ‘operator=’ in ‘__result.std::insert_iterator::operator* [with _Container = std::set, std::allocator ]() = __first.std::_List_iterator::operator* [with _Tp = std::basic_string, std::allocator ]()’ ...which I interpet to mean that the assignment operator needed is not defined. I took a look at the source code for insert_iterator and noted that it has overloaded the assignment operator. The copy algorithm must uses the insert iterators overloaded assignment operator to do its work(?). I guess that because my input iterator is on a container of strings and my output iterator is on a container of MyContainers that the overloaded insert_iterator assignment operator can no longer work. This is my best guess, but I am probably wrong. So, why exactly does this not work and how can I accomplish what I am trying to do?

Need help INSERT record(s) MySQL DB

I have an online form which collects member(s) information and stores it into a very long MySQL database. We allow up to 16 members to enroll at a single time and originally structured the DB to allow such. For example: If 1 Member enrolls, his personal information (first name, last name, address, phone, email) are stored on a single row. If 15 Members enroll (all at once), their personal information are stored in the same single row. The row has information housing columns for all 'possible' inputs. I am trying to consolidate this code and having every nth member that enrolls put onto a new record within the database. I have seen sugestions before for inserting multiple records as such: INSERT INTO tablename VALUES (('$f1name', '$f1address', '$f1phone'), ('$f2name', '$f2address', '$f2phone')... The issue with this is two fold: I do not know how many records are being enrolled from person to person so the only way to make the statement above is to use a loop The information collected from the forms is NOT a single array so I can't loop through one array and have it parse out. My information is collected as individual input fields like such: Member1FirstName, Member1LastName, Member1Phone, Member2Firstname, Member2LastName, Member2Phone... and so on Is it possible to store information in separate rows WITHOUT using a loop (and therefore having to go back and completely restructure my form field names and such (which can't happen due to the way the validation rules are built.)

Manage and Monitor Identity Ranges in SQL Server Transactional Replication

Problem When using transactional replication to replicate data in a one way topology from a publisher to a read-only subscriber(s) there is no need to manage identity ranges. However, when using transactional replication to replicate data in a two way replication topology - between two or more servers there is a need to manage identity ranges in order to prevent a situation where an INSERT commands fails on a PRIMARY KEY violation error due to the replicated row being inserted having a value for the identity column which already exists at the destination database. Solution There are two ways to address this situation: Assign a range of identity values per each server. Work with parallel identity values. The first method requires some maintenance while the second method does not and so the scripts provided with this article are very useful for anyone using the first method. I will explore this in more detail later in the article. In the first solution set server1 to work in the range of 1 to 1,000,000,000 and server2 to work in the range of 1,000,000,001 to 2,000,000,000. The ranges are set and defined using the DBCC CHECKIDENT command and when the ranges in this example are well maintained you meet the goal of preventing the INSERT commands to fall due to a PRIMARY KEY violation. The first insert at server1 will get the identity value of 1, the second insert will get the value of 2 and so on while on server2 the first insert will get the identity value of 1000000001, the second insert 1000000002 and so on thus avoiding a conflict. Be aware that when a row is inserted the identity value (seed) is generated as part of the insert command at each server and the inserted row is replicated. The replicated row includes the identity column’s value so the data remains consistent across all servers but you will be able to tell on what server the original insert took place due the range that the identity value belongs to. In the second solution you do not manage ranges but enforce a situation in which identity values can never get overlapped by setting the first identity value (seed) and the increment property one time only during the CREATE TABLE command of each table. So a table on server1 looks like this: CREATE TABLE T1 ( c1 int NOT NULL IDENTITY(1, 5) PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ,c2 int NOT NULL ); And a table on server2 looks like this: CREATE TABLE T1( c1 int NOT NULL IDENTITY(2, 5) PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ,c2 int NOT NULL ); When these two tables are inserted the results of the identity values look like this: Server1: 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26… Server2: 2, 7, 12, 17, 22, 27… This assures no identity values conflicts while leaving a room for 3 additional servers to participate in this same environment. You can go up to 9 servers using this method by setting an increment value of 9 instead of 5 as I used in this example. Continues…

Multiple munin-nodes per machine

I'm collecting statistics remotely through JMX. The munin JMX plugin allows you to select an URL to connect to when aggregating statistics. This allows me to collect statistics from hosts which do not actually have munin-node installed. I find this a desirable property for some systems where I am hindered to install munin-node. How I work today is that if i want to collect JMX stats from machine A without munin-node, I install munin-node on machine B. Machine B then collects data from A via JMX, and reports it to munin-server, which runs on machine C. This setup requires multiple B-type machines: one per C-type machine. I would like to avoid this and instead use only one B-type machine to collect the data from all A-type machines and reports it to the only munin-server (C-type machine). As far as I understand this requires running multiple munin-nodes on B or in some other way report to munin-server that the B-type machine is reporting data from multiple sources. Is this possible? Uploading multiple files using Spring MVC 3.0.2 after HiddenHttpMethodFilter has been enabled

I'm using Spring version 3.0.2. I need to upload multiple files using the multiple="multiple" attribute of a file browser such as, <input type="file" id="myFile" name="myFile" multiple="multiple"/> (and not using multiple file browsers something like the one stated by this answer, it indeed works I tried). Although no versions of Internet Explorer supports this approach unless an appropriate jQuery plugin/widget is used, I don't care about it right now (since most other browsers support this). This works fine with commons fileupload but in addition to using RequestMethod.POST and RequestMethod.GET methods, I also want to use other request methods supported and suggested by Spring like RequestMethod.PUT and RequestMethod.DELETE in their own appropriate places. For this to be so, I have configured Spring with HiddenHttpMethodFilter which goes fine as this question indicates. but it can upload only one file at a time even though multiple files in the file browser are chosen. In the Spring controller class, a method is mapped as follows. @RequestMapping(method={RequestMethod.POST}, value={"admin_side/Temp"}) public String onSubmit(@RequestParam("myFile") List<MultipartFile> files, @ModelAttribute("tempBean") TempBean tempBean, BindingResult error, Map model, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException, FileUploadException { for(MultipartFile file:files) { System.out.println(file.getOriginalFilename()); } } Even with the request parameter @RequestParam("myFile") List<MultipartFile> files which is a List of type MultipartFile (it can always have only one file at a time). I could find a strategy which is likely to work with multiple files on this blog. I have gone through it carefully. The solution below the section SOLUTION 2 – USE THE RAW REQUEST says, If however the client insists on using the same form input name such as ‘files[]‘ or ‘files’ and then populating that name with multiple files then a small hack is necessary as follows. As noted above Spring 2.5 throws an exception if it detects the same form input name of type file more than once. CommonsFileUploadSupport – the class which throws that exception is not final and the method which throws that exception is protected so using the wonders of inheritance and subclassing one can simply fix/modify the logic a little bit as follows. The change I’ve made is literally one word representing one method invocation which enables us to have multiple files incoming under the same form input name. How could be made it possible to upload multiple files after Spring has been configured with HiddenHttpMethodFilter? That blog indicates that It is a long standing, high priority bug. If there is no solution regarding the version 3.0.2 (3 or higher) then I have to disable Spring support forever and continue to use commons-fileupolad as suggested by the third solution on that blog omitting the PUT, DELETE and other request methods forever. Just curiously waiting for a solution and/or suggestion. Dual Use (Mice and Keyboayd) of Windows 7

I saw some answers to this question however they were fairly old (at least 2 years) and primarily for Vista or previous Windows OS versions. My question is this: Is there a program that allows a single Windows 7 computer to have multiple users (2 needed) and allow for two mice and two keyboards on two screens. What I'm trying to achieve: I'd like for the ability to play a game on one monitor while another person surfs the web, uses a program, or possibly play a different game. Any ideas?

KVM Switch for multiple monitors possible?

I have been curious about this for YEARS! I have never used a KVM switch (keyboard, mouse, monitor) switch to allow you to use 1 keyboard, mouse, monitor to operate 2 or more computers however I understand the concept and what they are for, just never really had a huge need for 1 until now. Here is my issue though. If possible I need to have a KVM switch hooked up to 2 computers in my room. The catch, I have 2-3 monitors on the PC, so I am looking for a way to have a KVM switch that will support multiple monitors. So PC #1 can be using a mouse, keyboard, 2-3 monitors like normal. I then hit the switch and it makes my mouse, keyboard, and 2-3 monitors switch to PC #2. Has anyone ever heard of a KVM switch being able to support multiple monitors like I described? Or how I can achieve this goal? Please help.

Linq to SQL generates StackOverflowException in tight Insert loop

I'm parsing an XML file and inserting the rows into a table (and related tables) using LinqToSQL. I parse the XML file using LinqToXml into IEnumerable. Then, I create a foreach loop, where I build my LinqToSQL objects and call InsertOnSubmit and SubmitChanges at the end of each loop. Nothing special here. Usually, I make it through around 4,100 records before receiving a StackOverflowException from LinqToSql, right as I call SubmitChanges. It's not always on 4,100... sometimes it's 4102, sometimes, less, etc. I've tried inserting the records that generate the failure individually, but putting them in their own Xml file, but that inserts fine... so it's not the data. I'm running the whole process from an MVC2 app that is uploading the Xml file to the server. I've adjusted my WebRequest timeouts to appropriate values, and again, I'm not getting timeout errors, just StackOverflowExceptions. So is there some pattern that I should follow for times when I have to do many insertions into the database? I never encounter this exception on smaller Xml files, just larger ones.
