  • MySQL INSERT with table alias

    - by Max Kielland
Hello, I happen to have two columns having the same name as two SQL reserved words, Key and Value. When using the SELECT statement I can create a table alias and solve it that way. Now I'm trying to INSERT data and it seems like you can't create table alias in the INSERT statement. INSERT INTO attributeStrings ats (ats.ItemID,ats.Key,ats.Value) VALUES (3,'Categories','TechGUI') I get error at 'ats (ats.ItemID,ats.Key,ats.Value) VALUES (3,'Categories','TechGUI')' indicating that alias can't be created. Are there any ways to solve this without renaming the columns Key and Value?

  • Mysql Cluster not working on Ubuntu

    - by user53864
I am unable to setup MySQL Cluster on ubuntu servers. As a starting point I started from the link but I am not successful and the tar ball version I download is 6.3.45. As I wanted to test the mysql cluster, the Data node and SQL node are same but sql never appeared as connected in management node console and it looks like below. [ndbd(NDB)] 2 node(s) id=2 @192.168.1.107 (Version: version number, Nodegroup: 0, Master) id=3 @192.168.1.108 (Version: version number, Nodegroup: 0) [ndb_mgmd(MGM)] 1 node(s) id=1 @192.168.1.105 (Version: version number) [mysqld(API)] 2 node(s) id=4 (not connected, accepting connect from 192.168.1.107) id=5 (not connected, accepting connect from 192.168.1.108) On all the 3 machines mysql-server & client(apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client) were already installed and I completely stopped and also removed them at the system start up. Now the mysqld is from extracted cluster tar ball(/usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server). As for testing, I created a test database on both the data nodes but the tables are also not syncing on other node. I checked many links, configurations are remained similar in all the links but somewhere it's going wrong. Anymore extra package is required?, Could anyone help me here..?. I am trying this for past 3 days... Thank you!

  • MySQL Cluster 7.3: On-Demand Webinar and Q&A Available

    - by Mat Keep
The on-demand webinar for the MySQL Cluster 7.3 Development Release is now available. You can learn more about the design, implementation and getting started with all of the new MySQL Cluster 7.3 features from the comfort and convenience of your own device, including: - Foreign Key constraints in MySQL Cluster - Node.js NoSQL API  - Auto-installation of higher performance distributed, clusters We received some great questions over the course of the webinar, and I wanted to share those for the benefit of a broader audience. Q. What Foreign Key actions are supported: A. The core referential actions defined in the SQL:2003 standard are implemented: CASCADE RESTRICT NO ACTION SET NULL Q. Where are Foreign Keys implemented, ie data nodes or SQL nodes? A. They are implemented in the data nodes, therefore can be enforced for both the SQL and NoSQL APIs Q. Are they compatible with the InnoDB Foreign Key implementation? A. Yes, with the following exceptions: - InnoDB doesn’t support “No Action” constraints, MySQL Cluster does - You can choose to suspend FK constraint enforcement with InnoDB using the FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS parameter; at the moment, MySQL Cluster ignores that parameter. - You cannot set up FKs between 2 tables where one is stored using MySQL Cluster and the other InnoDB. - You cannot change primary keys through the NDB API which means that the MySQL Server actually has to simulate such operations by deleting and re-adding the row. If the PK in the parent table has a FK constraint on it then this causes non-ideal behaviour. With Restrict or No Action constraints, the change will result in an error. With Cascaded constraints, you’d want the rows in the child table to be updated with the new FK value but, the implicit delete of the row from the parent table would remove the associated rows from the child table and the subsequent implicit insert into the parent wouldn’t reinstate the child rows. For this reason, an attempt to add an ON UPDATE CASCADE where the parent column is a primary key will be rejected. Q. Does adding or dropping Foreign Keys cause downtime due to a schema change? A. Nope, this is an online operation. MySQL Cluster supports a number of on-line schema changes, ie adding and dropping indexes, adding columns, etc. Q. Where can I see an example of node.js with MySQL Cluster? A. Check out the tutorial and download the code from GitHub Q. Can I use the auto-installer to support remote deployments? How about setting up MySQL Cluster 7.2? A. Yes to both! Q. Can I get a demo Check out the tutorial. You can download the code from http://labs.mysql.com/ Go to Select Build drop-down box Q. What is be minimum internet speen required for Geo distributed cluster with synchronous replication? A. if you're splitting you cluster between sites then we recommend a network latency of 20ms or less. Alternatively, use MySQL asynchronous replication where the latency of your WAN doesn't impact the latency of your reads/writes. Q. Where you can one learn more about the PayPal project with MySQL Cluster? A. Take a look at the following - you'll find press coverage, a video and slides from their keynote presentation  So, if you want to learn more, listen to the new MySQL Cluster 7.3 on-demand webinar  MySQL Cluster 7.3 is still in the development phase, so it would be great to get your feedback on these new features, and things you want to see!

  • MySQL Connector/Net 6.4.6 Maintenance Release has been released

    - by fernando
MySQL Connector/Net 6.4.6, a new version of the all-managed .NET driver for MySQL has been released.  This is a maintenance release and is recommended for use in production environments. It is appropriate for use with MySQL server versions 5.0-5.6. This is intended to be the final release for Connector/NET 6.4. It is now available in source and binary form from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/#downloads and mirror sites (note that not all mirror sites may be up to date at this point-if you can't find this version on some mirror, please try again later or choose another download site.) The 6.4.6 version of MySQL Connector/Net brings the following fixes: - Fix for List.Contains generates a bunch of ORs instead of more efficient IN clause in   LINQ to Entities (Oracle bug #14016344, MySql bug #64934). - Fix for error when trying to change the name of an Index on the Indexes/Keys editor; along with this fix now users can change the Index type of a new Index which could not be done   in previous versions, and when changing the Index name the change is reflected on the list view at the left side of the Index/Keys editor (Oracle bug #13613801). - Fix for stored procedure call using only its name with EF code first (MySql bug #64999, Oracle bug #14008699). - Fix for performance issue in generated EF query: .NET StartsWith/Contains/EndsWith produces MySql's locate instead of Like (MySql bug #64935, Oracle bug #14009363). - Fix for script generated for code first contains wrong alter table and wrong declaration for byte[] (MySql bug #64216, Oracle bug #13900091). - Fix for Exception thrown when using cascade delete in an EDM Model-First in Entity Framework (Oracle bug #14008752, MySql bug #64779). - Fix for Session locking issue with MySqlSessionStateStore (MySql bug #63997, Oracble bug #13733054). - Fixed deleting a user profile using Profile provider (MySQL bug #64409, Oracle bug #13790123). - Fix for bug Cannot Create an Entity with a Key of Type String (MySQL bug #65289, Oracle bug #14540202). This fix checks if the type has a FixedLength facet set in order to create a char otherwise should create varchar, mediumtext or longtext types when using a String CLR type in Code First or Model First also tested in Database First. Unit tests added for Code First and ProviderManifest. - Fix for bug "CacheServerProperties can cause 'Packet too large' error" (MySQL Bug #66578 Orabug #14593547). - Fix for handling unnamed parameter in MySQLCommand. This fix allows the mysqlcommand to handle parameters without requiring naming (e.g. INSERT INTO Test (id,name) VALUES (?, ?) ) (MySQL Bug #66060, Oracle bug #14499549). - Fixed inheritance on Entity Framework Code First scenarios. Discriminator column is created using its correct type as varchar(128) (MySql bug #63920 and Oracle bug #13582335). - Fixed "Trying to customize column precision in Code First does not work" (MySql bug #65001, Oracle bug #14469048). - Fixed bug ASP.NET Membership database fails on MySql database UTF32 (MySQL bug #65144, Oracle bug #14495292). - Fix for MySqlCommand.LastInsertedId holding only 32 bit values (MySql bug #65452, Oracle bug #14171960) by changing   several internal declaration of lastinsertid from int to long. - Fixed "Decimal type should have digits at right of decimal point", now default is 2, but user's changes in   EDM designer are recognized (MySql bug #65127, Oracle bug #14474342). - Fix for NullReferenceException when saving an uninitialized row in Entity Framework (MySql bug #66066, Oracle bug #14479715). - Fix for error when calling RoleProvider.RemoveUserFromRole(): causes an exception due to a wrong table being used (MySql bug #65805, Oracle bug #14405338). - Fix for "Memory Leak on MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand", too many MemoryStream's instances created (MySql bug #65696, Oracle bug #14468204). - Small improvement on MySqlPoolManager CleanIdleConnections for better mysqlpoolmanager idlecleanuptimer at startup (MySql bug #66472 and Oracle bug #14652624). - Fix for bug TIMESTAMP values are mistakenly represented as DateTime with Kind = Local (Mysql bug #66964, Oracle bug #14740705). - Fix for bug Keyword not supported. Parameter name: AttachDbFilename (Mysql bug #66880, Oracle bug #14733472). - Added support to MySql script file to retrieve data when using "SHOW" statements. - Fix for Package Load Failure in Visual Studio 2005 (MySql bug #63073, Oracle bug #13491674). - Fix for bug "Unable to connect using IPv6 connections" (MySQL bug #67253, Oracle bug #14835718). - Added auto-generated values for Guid identity columns (MySql bug #67450, Oracle bug #15834176). - Fix for method FirstOrDefault not supported in some LINQ to Entities queries (MySql bug #67377, Oracle bug #15856964). • Uninstalling MySQL for MariaDB Replacement on cPanel

    - by ImmortalFirefly
Well the first part of my day was spent researching how to remove MySQL to install MariaDB and the second part of my day was spent trying to reinstall MySQL cause something was messed up. So now I come to the masses for some help. I have a box with cPanel/WHM on it. CentOS 5.6 64 bit. I have upgraded (through WHM) MySQL to 5.5.24 and that was successful. After some research, the options I found were an intimidating Linux command with pipes greps and dashes, and another command yum remove mysql I tried that out and it appeared to remove mysql.....ish. I tried installing MariaDB from this instructions page and it started to do it's thing and then came the zillions of errors (here's a small sample): Transaction Check Error: file /etc/init.d/mysql from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysql_convert_table_format from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysql_install_db from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqlbug from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqld_multi from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqld_safe from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqldumpslow from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/bin/mysqlhotcopy from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/innochecksum.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/my_print_defaults.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/myisam_ftdump.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/myisamchk.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 file /usr/share/man/man1/myisamlog.1.gz from install of MariaDB-server-5.5.25-1.i386 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.5.24-1.cp.1132.x86_64 So it appeared that MySQL wasn't removed correctly. I've read from different tutorials given on different sites that to install MariaDB, you had to uninstall/remove MySQL and there weren't any commands given on how to do this. Does anyone know how to "safely" remove MySQL on a WHM/cPanel server so that I can install MariaDB? Here's my repo file in case anyone needs to know... # MariaDB repository list - created 2012-07-10 17:09 UTC # http://downloads.mariadb.org/mariadb/repositories/ [mariadb] name = MariaDB baseurl = http://yum.mariadb.org/5.5/centos5-x86 gpgcheck=1

  • Double MySQL Running on Mountain Lion

    - by Norris
After I've done a full restart, my Apache PHP server doesn't connect to Local MySQL ( connecting via 127.0.0.1 because localhost for some reason fails always ). So I did this today: ? ~ mysqladmin shutdown -u root -p Enter password: ? ~ mysqladmin shutdown -u root -p Enter password: mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists! Which basically means that I succeeded in shutting down mysql. But as soon as I did - Apache PHP successfully connect to MySQL and my local sites work without a hiccup until the next restart. Here are a few other details: (as you can tell - I've installed MySQL via brew) ? ~ sudo ps aux | grep mysql N 4774 0.0 0.0 2432768 620 s000 S+ 9:53AM 0:00.00 grep mysql N 4772 0.0 2.6 3030168 440688 ?? Apache doesn't connect. Then, when I run: ? ~ sudo mysqladmin shutdown -u root -p Enter password: Apache is (again) able to successfully connect to MySQL. As far as I understand this means that I have two mysql servers setup and both of them are trying to start up at the same time, but I don't have the slightest idea on how to fix it. I've tried brew reinstalling but that didn't help. ? ~ which mysqladmin /usr/local/bin/mysqladmin ? ~ whence -p mysql /usr/local/bin/mysql

  • Disable default error pages/error messages in IIS

    - by Antoine
I have this web application (ASP.Net MVC 3) that on certain conditions returns a custom JSON string with a HTTP status code for an error (403, 415, 500). It is deployed on a Win 2008 R2 server with IIS 7.5 Initially I was gettting the standard HTML pages for the error instead of the JSON data. I removed the error pages for these errors in the app settings. But now my queries which should return some JSON data return a single error line. When the server gives me 403, I have the message "You do not have permission to view this directory or page." (simple line, no HTML around it). What can I do to deactivate this and finally get what the app is returning and not what the server wants to return?

  • Why are symbolic links not working in MySQL?

    - by Eno
    I'm having an issue, I searched a lot but I'm not sure if it's related to a previous security patch. On the last version of MySQL on Debian Lenny ( 5.0.51a-24 ) I need to share one table between two db, those two db are in the same path ( /var/lib/mysql/db1 & db2 ). I created symbolic links for db2 pointing to the table in db1. When I query the same table from db2 I get this : 'ERROR 1030 (HY000): Got error 140 from storage engine' This is how it looks : test-lan:/var/lib/mysql/test3# ls -alh drwx------ 2 mysql mysql 4.0K 2010-08-30 13:28 . drwxr-xr-x 6 mysql mysql 4.0K 2010-08-30 13:29 .. lrwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 28 2010-08-30 13:28 blbl.frm -> /var/lib/mysql/test/blbl.frm lrwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 28 2010-08-30 13:28 blbl.MYD -> /var/lib/mysql/test/blbl.MYD lrwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 28 2010-08-30 13:28 blbl.MYI -> /var/lib/mysql/test/blbl.MYI -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 65 2010-08-30 13:24 db.opt I really need those symlinks, is there a way to make them working like before ? ( old MySQL-server is fine ) Thanks,

  • MySQL taking a long time to start

    - by Dscoduc
I'm running Windows Server 2008 with MySQL installed and every time I reboot the server the MySQL Service doesn't start right away. A look into the Windows Eventlog shows that the MySQL Service was hung at startup. Looking at the Services.msc console shows the service state at Starting... Eventually, like 10 minutes, the MySQL Service actually finishes the startup process and the database becomes available for my Wordpress server... I looked at the MySQL .err files and didn't find anything that would indicate a delay in the statup process... Can anyone suggest a way to determine what is causing the delay, and more importantly, how to prevent the delay in the MySQL Startup? UPDATE: Here is the .err log contents from the shutdown to the startup complete. Notice the startup begins at 10:30:00 and the MySQL isn't ready for connections until 10:47:14, a full 17 minutes later: 100322 10:27:06 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: Normal shutdown 100322 10:27:06 [Note] Event Scheduler: Purging the queue. 0 events 100322 10:27:06 InnoDB: Starting shutdown... 100322 10:27:08 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 4 3854351346 100322 10:27:08 [Warning] Forcing shutdown of 1 plugins 100322 10:27:08 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: Shutdown complete 100322 10:30:00 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 100322 10:30:01 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 4 3854351346 100322 10:47:14 [Note] Event Scheduler: Loaded 0 events 100322 10:47:14 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: ready for connections. • MySQL Cluster 7.3 Labs Release – Foreign Keys Are In!

We are therefore extremely excited to announce that Foreign Keys are part of the first Labs Release of MySQL Cluster 7.3 – available for download, evaluation and feedback now! (Select the mysql-cluster-7.3-labs-June-2012 build) In this blog, I will attempt to discuss the design rationale, implementation, configuration and steps to get started in evaluating the first MySQL Cluster 7.3 Labs Release. Pace of Innovation It was only a couple of months ago that we announced the General Availability (GA) of MySQL Cluster 7.2, delivering 1 billion Queries per Minute, with 70x higher cross-shard JOIN performance, Memcached NoSQL key-value API and cross-data center replication.  This release has been a huge hit, with downloads and deployments quickly reaching record levels. The announcement of the first MySQL Cluster 7.3 Early Access lab release at today's MySQL Innovation Day event demonstrates the continued pace in Cluster development, and provides an opportunity for the community to evaluate and feedback on new features they want to see. What’s the Plan for MySQL Cluster 7.3? Well, Foreign Keys, as you may have gathered by now (!), and this is the focus of this first Labs Release. As with MySQL Cluster 7.2, we plan to publish a series of preview releases for 7.3 that will incrementally add new candidate features for a final GA release (subject to usual safe harbor statement below*), including: - New NoSQL APIs; - Features to automate the configuration and provisioning of multi-node clusters, on premise or in the cloud; - Performance and scalability enhancements; - Taking advantage of features in the latest MySQL 5.x Server GA. Design Rationale MySQL Cluster is designed as a “Not-Only-SQL” database. It combines attributes that enable users to blend the best of both relational and NoSQL technologies into solutions that deliver web scalability with 99.999% availability and real-time performance, including: Concurrent NoSQL and SQL access to the database; Auto-sharding with simple scale-out across commodity hardware; Multi-master replication with failover and recovery both within and across data centers; Shared-nothing architecture with no single point of failure; Online scaling and schema changes; ACID compliance and support for complex queries, across shards. Native support for Foreign Key constraints enables users to extend the benefits of MySQL Cluster into a broader range of use-cases, including: - Packaged applications in areas such as eCommerce and Web Content Management that prescribe databases with Foreign Key support. - In-house developments benefiting from Foreign Key constraints to simplify data models and eliminate the additional application logic needed to maintain data consistency and integrity between tables. Implementation The Foreign Key functionality is implemented directly within MySQL Cluster’s data nodes, allowing any client API accessing the cluster to benefit from them – whether using SQL or one of the NoSQL interfaces (Memcached, C++, Java, JPA or HTTP/REST.) The core referential actions defined in the SQL:2003 standard are implemented: CASCADE RESTRICT NO ACTION SET NULL In addition, the MySQL Cluster implementation supports the online adding and dropping of Foreign Keys, ensuring the Cluster continues to serve both read and write requests during the operation. An important difference to note with the Foreign Key implementation in InnoDB is that MySQL Cluster does not support the updating of Primary Keys from within the Data Nodes themselves - instead the UPDATE is emulated with a DELETE followed by an INSERT operation. Therefore an UPDATE operation will return an error if the parent reference is using a Primary Key, unless using CASCADE action, in which case the delete operation will result in the corresponding rows in the child table being deleted. The Engineering team plans to change this behavior in a subsequent preview release. Also note that when using InnoDB "NO ACTION" is identical to "RESTRICT". In the case of MySQL Cluster “NO ACTION” means “deferred check”, i.e. the constraint is checked before commit, allowing user-defined triggers to automatically make changes in order to satisfy the Foreign Key constraints. Configuration There is nothing special you have to do here – Foreign Key constraint checking is enabled by default. If you intend to migrate existing tables from another database or storage engine, for example from InnoDB, there are a couple of best practices to observe: 1. Analyze the structure of the Foreign Key graph and run the ALTER TABLE ENGINE=NDB in the correct sequence to ensure constraints are enforced 2. Alternatively drop the Foreign Key constraints prior to the import process and then recreate when complete. Getting Started Read this blog for a demonstration of using Foreign Keys with MySQL Cluster.  You can download MySQL Cluster 7.3 Labs Release with Foreign Keys today - (select the mysql-cluster-7.3-labs-June-2012 build) If you are new to MySQL Cluster, the Getting Started guide will walk you through installing an evaluation cluster on a singe host (these guides reflect MySQL Cluster 7.2, but apply equally well to 7.3) Post any questions to the MySQL Cluster forum where our Engineering team will attempt to assist you. Post any bugs you find to the MySQL bug tracking system (select MySQL Cluster from the Category drop-down menu) And if you have any feedback, please post them to the Comments section of this blog. Summary MySQL Cluster 7.2 is the GA, production-ready release of MySQL Cluster. This first Labs Release of MySQL Cluster 7.3 gives you the opportunity to preview and evaluate future developments in the MySQL Cluster database, and we are very excited to be able to share that with you. Let us know how you get along with MySQL Cluster 7.3, and other features that you want to see in future releases. * Safe Harbor Statement This information is intended to outline our general product direction. • How to add 1 to the value of a column of an existing row in mysql

    - by mithun1538
Hello everyone, I have a table called pollData. It will always contain only 1 row. It has columns option1, option2, option3, option4, option5 each of type int. In the beginning, these columns have 0 as their value. How do I add 1 to any column, say option2? I mean do i retrieve the value of that column first, perform addition, and store back, or is there any auto increment function?

  • MySQL Replication Over SSH - Last_IO_Errno: 2003 - error connecting to master

    - by Dom
I have MySQL MASTER/SLAVE replication working on two test boxes (Centos 6.4 / MySQL 5.5.32) over LAN. Securing the connection over ssh causes connection problems from the SLAVE machine: (Sample of show slave status \G Output) Last_IO_Errno: 2003 Last_IO_Error: error connecting to master '[email protected]:3305' - retry-time: 60 I have granted the replication user the relevant privileges on the master server with both 127.0.0.1 and the network IP. I have forwarded the port from slave to master over SSH ssh -f 192.168.0.128 -L 3305:192.168.0.128:3306 -N I can connect to master MySQL from slave with mysql -urep -ppassword -h127.0.0.1 -P3305 The master server setup would seem fine, as it works without a tunnel, and the tunnel seems fine, as I can connect to MySQL between the two. Change Master Statement: CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='127.0.0.1', MASTER_PORT=3305, MASTER_USER='rep', MASTER_PASSWORD='password'; Note: I know there are reasons to use SSL, instead of SSH, but I have reasons why SSH is a better choice for my setup.

  • restoring myisam mysql db on a different machine

    - by RainDoctor
I have copied the web db directory(/var/lib/mysql/data/web/), when mysql is not running. I transferred this directory to another machine, where mysql is running. web db's stuff is myisam based. I am thinking about how to restore this on a different server. The strategy I have on my mind is the following. copy the data directory of web db to the new server. on new server, 'create database web', which creates a directory in /var/lib/mysql/data copy all files from the step to the new directory created in 2. bounce mysql My question: how to deal with information_schema for this new db?

  • MySQL 5.1.49 freezing every two days

    - by maximus
Hi all, our mysql system is "freezing" every two days. By "freezing" i mean the following: it doesn't respond to ping we can't login with SSH we don't get any answer from MySQL there is no entry in the error logs! neither from linux neither from MySQL. we have already changed to a completely new hardware, we have the same problem, so it's definitely not a hardware problem. we do not have any other software installed except a firewall (iptables rule) we can restart the server from another server using rsyslog (www.rsyslog.com)(software reset) Could someone help me, by giving me some pointers what could i do to figure out the problem? • MySQL Database Replication and Server Load

    - by Willy
Hi Everyone, I have an online service with around 5000 MySQL databases. Now, I am interested in building a development area of the exactly same environment in my office, therefore, I am about to setup MySQL replication between my live MySQL server and development MySQL server. But my concern is the load which will occur on my live MySQL server once replication is started. Do you have any experience? Will this process cause extra load on my production server? Thanks, have a nice weekend.

And the Magento Site which consists of a lot of InnoDB tables, some MyISAM and some INMEMORY. The "read" side seems to be running pretty well with a mass of optimizations I've used on Magento, the NGINX setup and PHP-FPM + XCACHE. I'd love to have a kick in the right direction with the MySQL config so I'm not blindly altering it based on the MySQLTuner without understanding what I'm changing. Thanks

  • Replicate Oracle to MySQL

    - by Rosdi
I am developing a web apps, this web application will be using MySQL. Now I need to replicate my client's Oracle database into MySQL, only a few tables will be involved.. a table can be up to 2-3 million rows. I only have SELECT privilege on this Oracle, so don't ask me to install any kind of service on the Oracle machine. I have complete control on the MySQL side however. The replication is only one way (Oracle to MySQL). I can write a simple script to truncate MySQL table and repopulate it every night but I think this is very inefficient, there must be a better way. Is there any free tools I can use? Expensive database replication system is definitely out of the question.

I started a MySQL slave using innobackupexand the Read_Master_Log_Pos: and the Relay_Log_Pos: are updating however the seconds behind master keeps on increasing (it's at Seconds_Behind_Master:496637 currently and increasing). • How do I pin a particular MySQL version to avoid unnecessary upgrades?

    - by asparagino
    I'm running a MySQL server, and want to keep it up to date with regular apt-upgrades. I don't want this to cause MySQL to upgrade unless I'm doing it during scheduled downtime! How do I alter my apt-preferences so that this won't happen? I've tried adding this to a file as /etc/apt/preferences.d/pin-mysql Package: mysql-client-5.1 Pin: version 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 Pin-Priority: 1001 Package: mysql-client-core-5.1 Pin: version 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 Pin-Priority: 1001 Package: mysql-common Pin: version 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 Pin-Priority: 1001 Package: mysql-server Pin: version 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 Pin-Priority: 1001 Package: mysql-server-5.1 Pin: version 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 Pin-Priority: 1001 Package: mysql-server-core-5.1 Pin: version 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 Pin-Priority: 1001 That then states the packages are pinned with "apt-cache policy" outputting: ... all package sources here 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/universe Packages release v=10.04,o=Ubuntu,a=lucid-security,n=lucid,l=Ubuntu,c=universe origin security.ubuntu.com 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/restricted Packages release v=10.04,o=Ubuntu,a=lucid-security,n=lucid,l=Ubuntu,c=restricted origin security.ubuntu.com ... etc Pinned packages: mysql-server -> 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 mysql-server-core-5.1 -> 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 mysql-client-core-5.1 -> 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 mysql-common -> 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 mysql-server-5.1 -> 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 mysql-client-5.1 -> 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.7 However... running aptitude safe-upgrade just updated MySQL... what am I doing wrong?

  • Trying to Set Up SSH Tunneling To MySQL Server for MySQL Query Browser

    - by Teno
I'm trying to set up SSH tunneling on a remote web server to another MySQL server so that the database can be browsed easily with MySQL Query Browser. I'm following this page but cannot connect to the MySQL server. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/access-your-mysql-server-remotely-over-ssh/ What I've done: logged in to the web server with Putty via SSH. typed ssh -L 33060:[database]:3306 [myusername]@[webserver_address] where [...]s are altered by the actual information. I was asked a password and typed it and got the following message. So it seems login was successful. socket: Protocol not supported Last login: .... 2012 from .... Copyright (c) 1980, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994 The Regents of the University of California. All rights reserved. FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE.... Welcome to FreeBSD! Opened MySQL Query Browser in Windows and entered Server Host: localhost Port: 33060 UserName: myusername PassWord: mypassword And it says, Could not connect to the specified instance. MySQL Error Number 2003 Can't connect to MySQL Server on 'localhost' (10061) Sorry if this is too basic. Thanks for your information.
