  • Optional parameters in Visual Studio 2008 Crystal Reports

    I am developing a Crystal Report in Visual Studio 2008. I am trying to implement optional parameters so that a user does not have to specify a value or range for a particular field. Essentially, this means there is no filtering done on that field if the user wishes. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Does anyone have any ideas? Let me know if more information is required.

  • Slow MySQL Query not using filesort

    I have a query on my homepage that is getting slower and slower as my database table grows larger. tablename = tweets_cache rows = 572,327 this is the query I'm currently using that is slow, over 5 seconds. SELECT * FROM tweets_cache t WHERE t.province='' AND t.mp='0' ORDER BY t.published DESC LIMIT 50; If I take out either the WHERE or the ORDER BY, then the query is super fast 0.016 seconds. I have the following indexes on the tweets_cache table. PRIMARY published mp category province author So i'm not sure why its not using the indexes since mp, provice and published all have indexes? Doing a profile of the query shows that its not using an index to sort the query and is using filesort which is really slow. possible_keys = mp,province Extra = Using where; Using filesort I tried adding a new multie-colum index with "profiles & mp". The explain shows that this new index listed under "possible_keys" and "key", but the query time is unchanged, still over 5 seconds. Here is a screenshot of the profiler info on the query. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r469/canadaka_bucket/slow_query_profile.png Something weird, I made a dump of my database to test on my local desktop so i don't screw up the live site. The same query on my local runs super fast, milliseconds. So I copied all the same mysql startup variables from the server to my local to make sure there wasn't some setting that might be causing this. But even after that the local query runs super fast, but the one on the live server is over 5 seconds.     If you look at the following line of python code: bpy.ops.object.particle_system_add({"object":bpy.data.objects[2]}) you see that in the parameters there is something enclosed in braces. Can anyone tell me what the braces are for (generically anyway)? I haven't really seen this type of syntax in python and I can't find any documentation on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.   • Passing a parameter in a Report's Open Event to a parameter query (Access 2007)

    Hi there, I would like to know if there is a way to set the parameters in an Access 2007 query using VBA. I am new to using VBA in Access, and I have been tasked with adding a little piece of functionality to an existing app. The issue I am having is that the same report can be called in two different places in the application. The first being on a command button on a data entry form, the other from a switchboard button. The report itself is based on a parameter query that has requires the user to enter a Supplier ID. The user would like to not have to enter the Supplier ID on the data entry form (since the form displays the Supplier ID already), but from the switchboard, they would like to be prompted to enter a Supplier ID. Where I am stuck is how to call the report's query (in the report's open event) and pass the SupplierID from the form as the parameter. I have been trying for a while, and I can't get anything to work correctly. Here is my code so far, but I am obviously stumped.   • Oracle 11gR2: NLS_CHARACTERSET accidentally removed with an UPDATE-Query

    Hi folks, I have a fresh installation of Oracle 11gr2_x64 on CentOS. After the installation I wanted to get productive and started to import my dumps. One of the dumps caused characterset error so I tried to change the systems character-set to the one specified in the dump. I ran a statement like this: UPDATE nls_database_parameters SET parameter='WS....' WHERE parameter=’NLS_CHARACTERSET’; As you can see: I have written the value of the character-set in the parameter column instead of the value column. I guess I was just too much thinking about the problem instead of checking what I am typing there. After the query the parameter "NLS_CHARACTERSET" is gone and the server reports that the characterset is "(null)". I want to put the "NLS_CHARACTERSET" paramater back in the table but don't know how. If I try to do something like this INSERT INTO nls_database_parameters (PARAMETERS, VALUE) VALUES ("NLS_CHARACTERSET", "AL32UTF8"); I get the error: Fehler bei Befehlszeile:1 Spalte:84 Fehlerbericht: *Cause: SQL-Fehler: ORA-00984: Spalte hier nicht zulässig *Action: 00984. 00000 - "column not allowed here" Sorry that the error message is in German but it contains the Oracle error code. I use POCOs and XML mapping. Revised: It looks like compiled query is returning result from new data context and it is not using the one that I passed in compiled-query. Therefore I can not reuse returned object and link it to another object obtained from datacontext thru non compiled queries.     Is it possible to override a function based on the number of parameters that you are passing into it? For instance: function abc(name) { document.write ('My name is' + name); } function abc(name,friend) { document.write ('My name is' + name + 'and my best friend\'s name is' + friend); } So in the HTML if I just called abc(george) it would use the first version of the function, but if I called abc(george,john) it would use the second version. There may be other ways to accomplish the example I used, but I'm just wondering if the concept is sound in javascript.

  • Send parameters in order in HTTPService

    I am trying to work with a simple HTTPService. The problem is that my webservice is conscious of the order of arguments it gets. I will tell the problem with an example: var service:HTTPService = new HTTPService(); var params:Object = new Object(); params.rows = 0; params.facet = "true"; service.send(params); Note that in the above code I have mentioned the parameter rows before facet, but the url I recieve is facet=true&rows=0. So I recieve the argument rows before facet and hence my webservice does not work. I figured out that the contents of array is always sent in alphabetical order, which I dont want. Is there any way I can achieve explict ordering of parameters sent? Note that I am not in power of changing the logic of webservice(its basically a RPC service supporting both desktop and web client). Thanks.

Parameter name: "param" Parameter value: "foo/bar?aaa=bbb&ccc=ddd" (happens to be a url with query parameters) String test = UriBuilder.fromPath("https://dummy.com"). queryParam("param", "foo/bar?aaa=bbb&ccc=ddd"). build().toURL().toString(); The encoded URL string returned is: "https://dummy.com?param=foo/bar?aaa%3Dbbb&ccc%3Dddd" Is this correct ? Should not the character "&" (and may be even "?") be encoded in the parameter value string ? Would not the URL produced be interpreted as follow: One first parameter, name="param", value = "ar?aaa%3Dbbb" followed by a second parameter, name="ccc%3Dddd", without value.

    I am trying to autoreload my page after every 20 seconds. I am using JavaScript for this instead of the <meta. I have <body onload="SetTimer()" and here is my JavaScript function function SetTimer(){ setTimeout('window.location.replace(window.location.pathname)', 20000) } Now my problem is I also pass a parameter within the querystring when this page is loaded first. But when the page relaods again (window.location.pathname does not include the parameter) hence I am not able to assign values to the labels on the page which is based on the parameters passed.

Each document can belong to multiple options in Category A and multiple options Category B but each document only has one year associated with it. I've kind of got this working through building up a dynamic SQL string but it's messy and I hate using it so I thought I'd ask here if anyone could see an easier way of doing this.   • Set Java Application's virtual machine max memory without access to VM parameters because of custom

    I'm using a Java application which allows you to import custom files. On import, these files are loaded into memory. The problem is that the files I want to import are very big, this causes an OutOfMemory exception. The crash log also informs me that the VM was started with the java parameter "-Xmx512m", I want to alter this to "-Xmx1024m" so that I got double the memory available. The problem is that this application is using it's own JRE folder and that there's a launcher written in C which is calling the jvm.dll file. In any way, java.exe or javaw.exe are never called and thus I cannot set these parameters myself (if I delete these executables it doesn't matter, can still run the application - this is not the case with the dll). So, my question is, can I set this VM parameter in an other way? I'm even willing to alter the JRE files if there is no other way.

  • Light-weight, free, database query tool for Windows?

    My question is very similar to the one here except pertaining to a Windows tool. I am also referencing this table and what I found here with a Google search. However, I have no idea which tool would best meet my (very basic) purposes. I am currently using Excel with a basic ODBC connection string to query my database at work. However, Excel is pretty memory-heavy and a basic query tends to throw my computer into a 30 second stall-a-thon. Is there a free tool out there that is light-weight and can serve the same purpose when provided an ODBC connection and a SQL query? Also would prefer that it easily copies over to a spreadsheet as needed.

    If been using "dbForge Query Builder" lately and I'm gotten used to the ease of building and testing a query, specially for those complex ones with inner joins, aliases and multiple conditionals. The expiry date of the trial is about to come, and while wanting to remain on the legal side for this I'd rather not pay the 50USD it costs (although I must say it's pretty cheap for what it does). So my question would be: Are there any free alternatives to replace this visual query builder? I've failed to find any and fear that my only two options are paying for it, or going to the dark side.
