    I have the following data in Excel where I want a formula that will give me the sum of all of the total rows: A B australia 10 australia total 10 china 1 china 5 china 7 china total 13 I have tried formulae along the lines of =sumif(A:A,"search("total",A:A)>0",B:B) but I cannot get the condition to work. What is the correct way to write this contains condition? Is there also specific a grammar for the condition language? I've been unable to find anything.

I have a master table called 'BILL' with all the bill related data and a detailed table ('BILL_DETAIL') with the bill detailed related data, like NAME, PRICE, TAX, ... Now I want to list all BILLS, without the details, but with the sum of the PRICE and TAX stored in the detail table.     Dear all, I would like to do a simple sum per salesid in php - mysql after cross calculation between date (2 table) to get the real time commission, all the value already come out correctly but I got problem with final sum per sales id. salesid-commission aa0001 - 1000 bb0001 - 500 aa0001 - 200 bb0001 - 50 I already try with few sample in this web but still cannot meet the correct result. I cannot do the sum in mysql because of some reason (need calculation with other table) the result will be: aa0001 - 1200 bb0001 - 550 I aprreciated for any help to complated the test.     I have a collection of objects that include a timespan variable: MyObject { TimeSpan TheDuration {get;set;} } I want to use linq to sum those times. Of course, (from r in MyCollection select r.TheDuration).Sum(); doesn't work! I'm thinking of changing the datatype of TheDuration to an int and then summing it and converting the sum to a TimeSpan. That'll be messy because each TheDuration in my collection is used in as a timespan somewhere else. Any suggestion on this summation?

Are there any tricks that anyone knows that may speed this up? What I am trying to achieve is a spreadsheet that highlights each reference number that collectively exceeds over £2,000.

    I have a spreadsheet with 2 cols of importance. Date, and number. I can't always predict the number of rows or the date, but what I would like to do is print out the sum of the numbers for each date. For example, there might be 5 rows for Dec-7: 200, 111 and Dec-6: 222,533,100. I am tying to create a list which would show Dec-6: 855, Dec-7: 311. I believe a Pivot Table is what I want but I can't quite figure out how I need to configure it to show what I want. If anyone knows of a guide I could look at that would be fantastic!

    I have a bunch of rows with a date and a dollar amount (expenses). I want to produce a list of the days of the month and what the balance of the expenses is. So, for example the 5th entry in the list would be 8/5/2008 and the sum of all the expenses that occurred on or before 8/5/2008. Approximately this is =sumif(D4:D30-A5,">0",E4:E30) but of course that doesn't work (where the source data is dates in D4:D30 and the expenses are in E4:E30). Notes source data can't be sorted for various reasons. must work in google spreadsheets, which is a fairly complete subset of excel's functions.
