  • How to take a screenshot on Windows 7 and auto create screenshot file on desktop like Mac?

    I'm trying to find information how do we take a screenshot on Windows 7 that will actually create a screenshot file like .png in to your desktop like on mac where you can do it by press Command+Control+Shift+4. In windows all I know is that I can do it by press press = Windows captures the entire screen and copies it to the clipboard. or for the Active windows I can just do hold and press = Windows captures only the currently active window and copies it to the clipboard. Right now I'm using maComFort which it gives me functionality of Mac like keyboard that I can take screenshot in such the same way with Mac OS X but really it changes many of the key in my keyboard in the way I don't like. So I wonder if there is a better way?

  • Separating two networks

    I have two routers, R1 and R2. R1 (a stock linksys router running dd-wrt) is connected to internet and is serving internet to a network of 5 devices/PCs running a DHCP server, with a network of 192.168.1.0/24. R1 also serves internet services to R2. R2 (a ubuntu server 12.04) gets internet from R1. R2 has 3 PCs attached to it, runs a DHCP server with a network of 172.22.22.0/24. My requirement is that the clients on both sides should not talk to each other at all – with the exception that R1 clients may access the R2 router through its IP of 192.168.1.x. At the moment, R2 clients are able to ping R1 clients, which is unacceptable, whereas R1 clients cannot ping R2 clients, which is OK. I believe iptables could be set up but I don't know how.

  • Why doesn't my sound card start? It reports code 10.

    When I installed the XP for first time my sound card was working fine. But only after the first reboot it has stopped working. Under Device Manager, the section "sound video and game controller" the entry YAMAHA Native DS1 WDM Driver, has a exclamation mark on it. On left clicking and selecting properties it shows this message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". On trying to update driver it says a better driver can not be found. Any idea how I can solve the issue? Update: As suggested by harrymc I uninstalled the device "YAMAHA Native DS1 WDM Driver" , and scanned for hardware changes. The windows detected and installed the soundcard and it started working properly.BUT, after restarting the same problem occurs. So, now everytime I reboot the computer I am stuck to, repeating the process of uninstalling the device to make it work.

    Can anyone tell me what the main differences between i.e. MBR vs GPT or any other partition scheme are? Why would one choose one over the other? I am not an expert but from new release of Mac OS X which includes a feature called Time Machine, which I find highly useful. GPT is the requirement for Mac OS X Lion ... so on this basis I would say that GPT is more useful than MBR. What other partition schemes are there and which one should be used in which situation?

  • Why is Wifi data transfer is slow?

    I have a wifi router which was attached with my modem, and the pc was connected to the wifi router through an ethernet cable. Yesterday I moved my modem and router to another room and connected my PC with wifi through an external wifi usb dongle (tp-link tl-w722n). I noticed that the file transfer speed from my cell to PC via wifi is greatly affected. I am not clear why is this happening because although PC is now connected through wifi but the dongle supports more than 54Mbps which is still enough.

    Everything was working fine until this moment I want to create a new database and I'm receiving this error db_create.php: Missing parameter: new_db (FAQ 2.8) Also when I was trying to export my database I also receive the following error export.php: Missing parameter: what (FAQ 2.8) export.php: Missing parameter: export_type (FAQ 2.8) When I looked it FAQ 2.8 from the suggested link in PHPMYADMIN 2.8 I get "Missing parameters" errors, what can I do? Here are a few points to check: In config.inc.php, try to leave the $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] directive empty. See also FAQ 4.7. Maybe you have a broken PHP installation or you need to upgrade your Zend Optimizer. See http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=31134. If you are using Hardened PHP with the ini directive varfilter.max_request_variables set to the default (200) or another low value, you could get this error if your table has a high number of columns. Adjust this setting accordingly. (Thanks to Klaus Dorninger for the hint). In the php.ini directive arg_separator.input, a value of ";" will cause this error. Replace it with "&;". If you are using Hardened-PHP, you might want to increase request limits. The directory specified in the php.ini directive session.save_path does not exist or is read-only. I did tried with php.ini to make sure that I've session.save_path = "/tmp" I'm using Mac Xserver and running with MAMP I did tried everything to restart my server and nothing help.     I replaced my old laptop drive which was win7 and ubuntu dual boot with an SSD. Now I connected the old drive through a USB adapter and I want to boot from it. But this comes up: unknown filesystem grub rescue> As i need the programs from old drive I have to boot from it time to time and I don't want to install those software on the new drive. It takes so time to exchange the drives so I want to boot from USB. how can I fix this?

  • Untar after uploading to linux from windows

    I have created tar.gz from my linux server, and I downloaded the same to my linux system and I successfully doen untar with tar -xvf package.tar.gz. And now my issue I downloaded same package.tar.gz to the windows system then uploaded to another linux server, and tried same command tar -xvf package.tar.gz. but it getting tar: This does not look like a tar archive tar: Skipping to next header tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors as response. I also tried filezill manual trnasfer with binary mode. How can I do the same ? Update When I directly download to the linux system its working fine. When I downloaded to the windows system and try to extract with 7zip or winrar error is getting When I download to windows and upload to linux same error getting

  • Dual-booting Ubuntu and Pardus with GRUB2...Pardus no show?

    Hello all, I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed and used to dual-boot Fedora, but I replaced Fedora with Pardus. After the install, I went into ubuntu, and did a sudo update-grub. It detected my Pardus 2011 install there. When I rebooted, it did not show up in my grub2 menu however. I went back to Ubuntu and did it again...then checked the grub.cfg, and it is not there. I have read that Pardus uses a grub legacy. How can I get Pardus into my grub2 menu?     I want to let my IAM users to setup their own MFA devices, through the console, is there a single policy that I can use to achieve this? So far I can achieve this through a number of IAM policies, letting them list all mfa devices and list users (so that they can find themselves in the IAM console and ... I am basically looking for a more straight forward way of controlling this. I should add that my IAM users are trusted users, so I don't have to (although it will be quite nice) lock them down to the minimum possible, so if they can see a list of all users that is ok.

  • Hardware doesn't work some times

    I have an Asus n51vf laptop. I bought it not long time ago (less than a month) and installed Windows 7 on it. Since that it wasn't new when I bought it, I don't know, if the problem was occuring before re-installing Windows 7. There are two problems, that might (or might not) have something to do with each other: Problem The less annoying problem is that the screen flickers ONLY on YouTube when scrolling and/or pausing/playing the video or moving the curser over the video. The second more timeconsuming problem is that some of the hardware doesn't work when I turn up the computer. Then I have to reboot the computer and try again. Example: I turn on the computer, and the touchpad doesn't work - I then reboot and it works again. This has so far happened to the screen (leading to a black screen), the keyboard and the touchpad. More frequently the mouse. What have I tried to do so far? I tried reeinstalling the touchpad driver (Synaptic Touchpad driver from Asus Support Page) - didn't help at all. I even tried reinstalling the driver when the non-responding mouse on startup-problem occured (using the keyboard), but it asked me to reboot and didn't help at all. I also installed (and reinstalled) the graphics driver; it's a GeForce GT 130M. Now, the problem never occurs spontaneously - it only appears when booting my computer. I can even use the computer for heavy tasks (games, multiple programs running etc.) with no problem at all. I suspect, that the problem is in some booting mechanism that fails: Maybe the Windows driver loading? Motherboard problems?

    When a server uses memory more than available RAM, the system will shut down the virtual machine. Then, it is only possible to boot from outside (VPS control panel, e.g. vePortal or SolusVM). However, it should be possible to plan a reboot before possible shut down. What is the best practical method to check the used memory, and reboot the system upon reaching e.g. 90% of the allowed RAM? Is there a common program or script to do so? I am using Debian/Ubuntu.

  • resize image without image quality reduction

    In web design , it's usually needed to design an image for example in Photoshop and then use multiple sizes of it. but I don't understand something here : When I resize the image (PNG or JPG) and reduce the dimensions of that in Photoshop , the image quality extremely gets reduced and the edges become messy while resizing the image in a simple software like Microsoft Paint gives a really better output! So what's the reason ? Is there a trick in Photoshop for image resizing which I've missed? Thanks for your help. UPDATE: I resize in this way : image image size , then enter new dimensions , all of checkboxes are checked , and have tried all of resample modes including Bicubic sharper

    I have a domain controller running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and users login to application servers on which Windows 2003 Server SP2 is installed. I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

  • OpenBSD in a virtual box as a firewall

    Is there any merit in installing a virtual machine with OpenBSD and pf (or any other simple and secure OS + iptable) on a mac laptop and routing all the traffic through that machine? I read a similar set up for corporate laptops running windows (I thing I read this in BSD magazine). They claim that Windows machines are too hard to secure and if you are taking them to the wild (public wireless, hotels, ...) you'd better but a secure OS in between! If you think this is a good idea, how you route all the traffic on a mac through the virtual machine and prevent any application or service to go directly? I am not sure if just setting the gateway will do that, what about DNS? you don't want anybody to fool you with DNS cache poisoning or similar attacks either.

It show me the following error: An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed.   • SQL Server 2008 CPU usage goes to 100% - troubleshooting help needed?

    I have a fairly powerful database server having SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. There is only one database on it which is being accessed from 2 servers (around 5/6 applications). The problem is as soon as applications start pointing to the database, system's CPU usage goes upto 100% with sqlserver itself using 95+%. I have checked profiler, there aren't any heavy queries running there. I have checked active connections, they are hardly 150. Still CPU usage is around 100% and applications are experiencing slow response/connection to database server are getting refused. Database grus, I really need some ideas here. Thanks.
