I was reading the release notes for Visual Studio 2013 and .Net 4.5.1 and it mentioned a new/updated Authentication approach. “ASP.NET Identity is the new membership system for ASP.NET applications. ASP.NET Identity makes it easy to integrate user-specific profile data with application data. ASP.NET Identity also allows you to choose the persistence model for user profiles in your application. You can store the data in a SQL Server database or another data store, including NoSQL data stores such as Windows Azure Storage Tables” There’s a great page on the asp.net site that gives an introduction, overview, how to use it, and how to migrate to it. I won’t be doing a new project for awhile at work, but I’ll definitely be looking into this more when I get the time.

    Hello, I'm trying to enable NTLM authentication on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine with IIS 7.5 for a specific file in my web root. I've been following these instructions http://docs.moodle.org/en/NTLM_authentication#IIS_Configuration In the IIS Manager I open the Authentication module, disable anonymous authentication and enable Windows Authentication however according to every post I can find on the matter I should have a 'providers' option appear but I don't. I've double checked in Server Manager that the 'Windows Authentication' security feature is enabled for IIS. Any help anyone can offer would be great, Thank you!

  • Jquery getJSON() doesn't work when trying to get data from java server on localhost

    The whole day yesterday I've been trying to solve this but it's proven to be very challenging for me. I'm trying to use this JS to get information from a java application I wrote. $(document).ready(function() { $.getJSON('http://localhost/custest?callback=?', function(json) { alert('OK'); $('.result').html(json.description); }); }); The Java application uses httpServer and is very basic. When I access the page 'http://localhost/custest?callback=?' with Firefox, the browser shows me the server is sending me json data and asks with what to open it with, but when I try it from a webpage using the JS above it doesn't work. The getJSON call is not successful, the alert("ok") doesn't popup at all. If it replace "http://localhost/custest?callback=?" in the JS with "http://twitter.com/users/usejquery.json?callback=?" everything works fine. An interesting thing is that if I send malformed JSON from my java server Firebug gives an error and tells me what is missing from the JSON so that mean the browser is receiving the JSON data, but when I send it correct a JSON string nothing happens, no errors, not even the alert() opens.     Hi All, I've seen a number of post about consuming Web Services from behind a proxy server, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. I know from the Java docs that On Microsoft Windows platforms, NTLM authentication attempts to acquire the user credentials from the system without prompting the user's authenticator object. If these credentials are not accepted by the server then the user's authenticator will be called. Given that my Authentication code is called only ones, and only as the 5th attempt, it appears as if the connection is dropped when behind the proxy server before my Authentication object is used. Is there any way I can control the behavior of Authentication module, to not have it use the system credentials?     I'm just starting to learn JSP (and I'm pretty new to Java in general), and I'd like to use JSON-lib with it.   • Is there "native" support for JSON in JDK6 Script Engine?

    I'm using JDK6the standard Scripting. I need to store and retrieve some JavaScript Objects that also contain Java Objects to JSON. I loaded the json2.js into the ScriptENgine and can use it fine without issue if the objects are all created in the Scrip Engine. The moment I try to use my own Java classes, I get some errors like "object does not support toJSON" errors. I did not find much about JSON in Java Scripting / Rhino context. Am I doing something totally wrong? What's the best way of achieving the requirement?

    I am using Grails Webflow, what ever object I pass to a view, it must be Serialized. My domain models "implement Serializable", so they work. The problem is when I get a response from a WebService. It is of the org.json.JSONArray class. I just want to pass the whole Array over to the view yet it doesn't implement Serializable, so it fails, Any thoughts on how I can pass this, or my best option? Can I just edit the source of the org.json library and make every class "imp Serializable"? Or process the result into Domain objects that do "imp Serializable"

    This is something I've always been curious about, is exactly why Google appends while(1); in front of their (private) JSON responses. For example, here's a response while turning a calendar on and off in Google Calendar: while(1);[['u',[['smsSentFlag','false'],['hideInvitations','false'],['remindOnRespondedEventsOnly','true'],['hideInvitations_remindOnRespondedEventsOnly','false_true'],['Calendar ID stripped for privacy','false'],['smsVerifiedFlag','true']]]] I would assume this is to prevent people from doing an eval() on it, but all you'd really have to do is replace the while and then you'd be set. I would assume eval prevention is to make sure people write safe JSON parsing code. I've seen this used in a couple other places, too, but a lot more so with Google (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc.) Strangely enough, Google Docs starts with &&&START&&& instead, and Google Contacts seems to start with while(1); &&&START&&&. Does anyone know what's going on here?

    Hi, I am looking to access the various bits of data in this data attribute: <div class="location" data="{id: 4, point: {lng: -71.413364, lat: 41.673681}, category: 'Restaurant'}"> The data attribute is easy enough to reach in jQuery, of course. But the string seems to be a non-standard or invalid form of JSON. I've tried JSON.parse() and also a basic JS method of splitting the array. By all accounts, it just seems to be an invalidly-serialized string. Will I need to reformat the data string? (it doesn't come from me, and it's used by other routines that I'd rather not break, so...)

I know that this can be done in many ways (such as YUI), but for debug purposes I'd like to simply be able to view a JSON objects I receive from a server as a tree, nothing fancy (but collapsable tree's would be a bonus).
